Lovely sunny morning here. Cas has had a really good run and is now in her bedroom asleep!
Gill, why don't you type 'Getting started on Amazon' on Google and see what it throws up. It might be worth it, as once you've got your head round it, (and is not difficult, even I can do it!!) it is very useful particularly for things that are difficult to find in the shops.
Fish for supper, roast beef tomorrow, so that's that sorted!!

Gillx Report 4 Feb 2017 15:07

Afternoon all

Lovely and sunny here today and quite warm with it. I've been in the garden all morning sorting out some more pots and have also potted up some bulbs, although I may of left them a bit to late. Hopefully they'll still flower just a bit later in the year ;-)

That's a good idea Liz to Google how to use Amazon, I wouldn't want to make a mistake where money is involved. I've only ever order one thing off the internet and that was a wardrobe.....quite chuffed I was too that I managed to do it, but did have a few problems at first, which I think put me off trying again. Getting my head around Amazon would be great as like you said Liz you can get all sorts off there and their prices aren't bad either.
I'll keep away from Prime as everyone has advised. Thanks everyone for your help.

Hope you enjoy the match Frank, it sounds like you've got the nice weather like me and the walk will be good exercise, just don't over do it please, you don't want to end up with a bad knee again. How is your glass eye today LOL ;-) ;-)

I've let Sandra know about the glitter Ann and she feels a bit better now, she tends to get a bit upset if she can't find things she sets out to buy. She's much happier now and ready to make a start on your card <3

Sorry to hear about your Sky box, we had similar problems with the picture flickering and the recordings going to pot so OH moved the dish slightly and that seemed to solve the problem. We had high winds so OH thinks it just got blown slightly off the signal. It's working fine now, but we have had this problem for years and at first when we called Sky about it they wanted £60 to come and re aline the dish, which is why OH did it himself. Maybe you could try it yourself, if it's just your dish needing moving slightly then you won't loose all your recordings and it would save you calling anyone out. Plus the problem can be sorted straight.

Going to watch big dreams small spaces with Monty Don, I'm getting into the gardening programmes now, ready for the spring ;-) ;-)

Yes Gill we will soon have our Monty back on a friday night and I hope we are going to get an hours program like we did at the end of the last series. Half an hour just was'nt long enough.

I'm crafting...........................................

It has just clouded over here and we've having a little rain. Blast..... :-|

magpie Report 4 Feb 2017 16:21

So long as you don't enter your bank/address details Gill, you can't buy anything by mistake!! ( I worried at first that I might do that) which means that you can have a good look around, even have a 'dummy run', without worrying that you might have pressed the wrong button and inadvertently bought something you don't want!!!! I too would say keep away from prime, it's expensive and only economical if you buy masses of things and buy/rent videos, films, games etc on a regular basis!
We've had a busy old afternoon doing this and that, and are now having a well earned CoT!!

Frank

Frank Report 4 Feb 2017 16:35

Afternoon all,

Enjoyed the fresh air, walked both ways. Chelsea beat Arsenal, so Lewis will be happy.

When I got home Carol from down the close was here chatting with Ros, I might as well not been here, she ignored me completely.

Ros has been fiddling with my phone. she seems to have bugg@@@d it up. I have opened up the back and taken the battery out. Will try it again later.

SNAP LIZ, I am having Monk Fish and Ros a flat fish. (not sure which one) and we have Roast Beef for tomorrow.

Still a nice afternoon out there, and the dun is just starting to set. I can see it through my GLASS EYE ;-) ;-) ;-)

Don't know what's on T,V. tonight a load of rubbish I suppose. If it comes to it I will watch Nat. Geo. or something we have recorded.

Jane Report 4 Feb 2017 17:53

Afternoon All
I bet the walk both ways did you good Frank. It seems like your knee is getting better day by day now :-D
I suppose it is going to be Football and Rugby now on the TV non stop :-S.Not my idea of fun.
Cas must enjoy her rests Liz after being so active .She is such a lovely girl :-D.

Gill,it is easy using Amazon.Chris set mine up for me on the laptop. I use it often and touch wood have never had any problems. Things can arrive so quickly too.Even the next day (and I never pay the extra for next day delivery).Returning goods too is a very simple process.

It has been a lovely sunny day,and we didn't really have any of the strong winds. The only thing I noticed this morning was a pile of leaves that had blown up to the front door.It does feel quite cold now so the fire is lit :-D
I had another dreadful nights sleep. I seem to wake about 3.30 and then that is it :-S.The brain switches on and just doesn't stop. I might see if I have any Nytol and try a couple of them tonight. I have no trouble though actually getting off to sleep.
Anne ,I think you said to have Kalms.I found they gave me nightmares !!!!.Also my Neice had the same problem with them.

That was rude of Carol to ignore you like that Frank :-S...Have you upset her LOL.No kidding though ,that is just pure bad manners as far as I am concerned .

I took some shampoo down for Fitz this morning.Poor old thing was lying on the settee watching tv.Some of his fingers were soooo swollen, and painful.Georgette had gone to London for the day to see their son and wife.I think Fitz was quite pleased really as he could watch tv all day if he wished without feeling guilty :-).Plus he can only watch recorded programmes and catch up on the television in the sitting room where he can stretch out on a sofa. The other tv in 'the snug' which is his room just has the different channels. He wanted me to stay for a while but I knew if I did I would have been there for ages and I had shopping to get done

Meatballs and Spaghetti tonight .Maybe a bit of Garlic Bread . Curry tomorrow night.
Anne,We love the Youngs Gastro Basa too.Especially the Lemon and Herb one. It's very tasty :-D

I had my appointment come through this morning for the injection in my finger.it is on the 27th.

Did anyone watch Frank Gardner on his travel to Papua New Guinea to find Birds of Paradise? I thought it was just brilliant. To take on a journey like that in a wheel chair must have taken a lot of guts and determination. Next programme on Friday.I think I am going to have to watch it again on catch up :-D.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Feb 2017 18:10

Finished another bit.

Its been raining here all afternoon now and we've had a bit of sleet in it too at times.

Oh buys lots of things from Amazon and he always tells me to look to see if the thing I want is on Prime so I suppose he has Prime. The telly was the latest and then he bought a sound bar to go with it. O and a new pair of pinking shears for me with scolloped blades instead of my pair with a zig zag blade.

I often look on Amazon as they have just about anything you would want and living out in the middle of nowhere we always have to go miles to get things otherwise.

Hope th ephone works ok after you replace the battery Frank. Sounds like you enjoyed your walk to the pub and the footie and a nice walk home again.

Jane

Jane Report 4 Feb 2017 18:42

We aren't on Amazon Prime.Just the normal one. I have just ordered a free book for my kindle :-).
Mel ,you seem to have had the worst of the weather down your way. SLEET !. Nothing like that here at all.

Lovely photo on FB of Fiona and her Frank today celebrating their 38th Wedding Anniversary. It was put up by her OH as she still is not able to use the computer .But it was so nice to see she was able to get out to celebrate :-D :-D.

My Sister was telling me about a Swan on the Nature Reserve (the one that Larry is working for). The poor thing had been shot through the eye with a cross bow by some evil B*****d. Money was raised for 'George' as he was named to be treated and he has finally been released and has found his way back to his partner :-D :-D
I think if you google George the Swan Tewkesbury you might see the full story..A happy ending to what began as a terrible thing for George :-D :-D I can never understand why someone could be so cruel as to do something like shooting a beautiful creature like this with a Crossbow .

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Feb 2017 18:52

Oh dear Frank, my OH won't be happy with the footie results, he supports Arsenal. He might not of seen the results though as he's been in work all day, so I won't say anything ;-) At least Lewis is happy. Pleased to hear your walk went well. I agree with Jane, that was just plain rude of Carol to ignore you like that.

I have been tempted to go on Amazon in the past but was to nervous before, I feel more confident now, thanks everyone.

So you've done some more of your craft today Mel, is it nearly finished now or have you still got more to do? We're all on tender hooks here wondering what it is :-S

Yes I'm looking forward to Gardeners World starting, I love Monty's dogs Nigel and Nell. Have you seen the topiary hedge Monty started a few years ago of Nigel? I wonder how it's getting on, he keeps going back to it every now and then and it's starting to take shape now.

Poor Fitz Jane, it's not much fun being in pain. Pity you couldn't stay a bit longer, at least he was pleased to see you. Not long to wait now before your injection, your finger should feel much better then.
Poor George the swan, some people can be so cruel pleased to hear he's okay now.

How are you getting on with Ruby proofing your garden Anne, not long now before she's with you. I think we're all looking forward to it as much as you are now :-) :-)
Hope she travels well on the day <3

magpie

magpie Report 4 Feb 2017 19:34

We've been watching George's progress on our local news Jane. As you say how can people be so cruel, they deserve the severest penalty, ie kneecapping!! It was so good to see his release after such a horrid ordeal!
You'll be fine Gill, but if you have any qualms you know where I am, to boost your confidence that is !!!!!
Neither of us are into football at all, although our son loves it!
Taboo Tonight Mel! Something to look out for!!
You're right about Cas Jane, I honestly never thought that I could ever love another dog after Millie but she really is the sweetest of little girls. Lively its true, (thank goodness for the field!) but so affectionate and cheerful. I'm very, very glad we had her.
Hair cut on Tuesday, not before time!!

Evening All,

Lovely sunny day here and no rain! I got out of bed at 4.30am this morning as I couldn't sleep again and went and fetched my beading tray and a glass of milk. lol I managed to finish my bracelet and watch a bit of tv. The last time I looked at the clock it was 6.00am and I must have dropped off soon after. OH left me till 10.30am and then brought me a COT. Not sure it's even worth going to bed tonight!! :-S

That's good Sandra is happy again Gill......I wouldn't want her to fret!! <3 <3 I think the problem is just with that particular sky box Gill as we have other sky boxes that are working just fine. It won't hurt for us to get the engineer in as there will be no cost, not even for a new box. I'm trying to watch all the recordings now before I ring them!! lol.

We love Monty too! :-)

Frank is it a SHE shed that Ros wants? I would love one of those to do painting and craftwork in. :-D Mind you if we had one it would be to replace the existing one. I bet you really enjoyed your walk, it's been a bit springlike here today with the sun.

I recorded the Birds of Paradise Jane. Poor Fitz sounds quite miserable! Not long to wait for your appointment then which is good. :-) How cruel can some people be.......just can't understand it!! When we had lunch yesterday a Tigers crowd were all around the bar having a drink before going to Twickenham? for the match. What a racket they were making!! OH hasn't said anything so I hope he isn't wanting to watch too much footie or I shall head off somewhere out of the way!! :-)

Anne

Anne Report 4 Feb 2017 22:16

Jane I was interested that you mentioned Kalms gave you nightmares that's probably why I have been having very vivid dreams when I have taken them so I will try Nytol in future.

The rain finally stopped and the sun came out about midday. Just started again as I am writing this

Poor Fritz being in pain lets hope it eases off for him soon, Jane, he must really enjoy your company when you visit I expect having someone to chat to takes his mind off things

I buy most things on line mostly from Amazon. Bracknell town centre is a bit chaotic at the moment with the regeneration and I would have to take the bus, which is not good for buying anything heavy, Paul would take me if it was urgent but there is no need if Amazon have it.

Frank pleased to hear that you enjoyed the walk to the pub today you must have felt better for it. How rude of Carole to ignore you, I am looking forward to taking Ruby out but I know it won't be until she's had her 2nd inoculation . It will be strange having such a small dog after always having boxers so I expect our walks will be a lot shorter.

As i'm writing this I'm half watching Taboo as Richard has it on .

I hope Jane and Ann have a better nights sleep tonight

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Feb 2017 22:35

Oh watched something else so I am going to watch Taboo on catch up.

That poor swan. I always wonder what the mentality is of these people who do these things. They should have it done to themselves. See how they like it. :-| :-| :-| :-| :-|

Poor Fitz with swollen fingers. I have had that when I had some warts frozen and it dos'nt feel good at all. You don't realize till they are like that just how much you move your fingers. Hope the swellling goes down soon.

magpie

magpie Report 4 Feb 2017 22:38

Jane, I take something (pills) called 'Quiet Life'. You used to be able to get these at the Chemist, but last time I got some I could only get them on line. They're a natural herbal pill, and I've taken them on and off for years finding them very good. Might be worth checking out?!!!!

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Feb 2017 23:44

Oh I see Ann, if only one of your Sky boxes isn't working properly then it can't be your dish. What a shame as you'll be rushing through the programmes on your planner now. I had to do that once and it's not the same as taking your time to watch something. It's much better to watch things when you're in the mood. Hope you manage to see them all before the box is seen to.

Off to bed now, but like you Ann I don't think it'll be worth it as I have only had one good nights sleep in over a month. I really think I need to see the doctor now with all these symptoms I'm having with the menopause, they're driving me mad all day and night.
Not being able to get a full nights sleep being one of them.

Never mind I shall try again, you never know I might get a full nights sleep tonight....fingers crossed.

See you all tomorrow
Night Night

Gillx Report 5 Feb 2017 10:28

Morning all

Nice and sunny again today. I finally got a halfway decent nights sleep last night. It wasn't the best, but definitely not the worse one I've had lately. It was nice to wake up and not feel worn out.

Nothing much planned for today. Sandra got 4 books from the library the other day and started reading one that wasn't one of the Bob books, so she's kindly said I can read the first Bob book while she finishes off the one she's on, so that's my day sorted. I can then read the second Bob book while she reads the first one. She's allowed to re-new her books 5 times but only if no one has reserved them, if that's the case she can only have more week, so hopefully she'll have them all read in time.

What is everyone else up to today?

Hope the weather is kind to you all. I read on the internet that we're suppose to be having a months rain in one day on Monday.....up to 20mm in some parts of the country.
I'm not looking forward to that, my garden can flood if it rains to much :-(

Going to get a cuppa and start this book now.

Anne

Anne Report 5 Feb 2017 10:40

Morning Gill and all

No rain yet but looking at the sky it could go either way.

Gill and Liz you can buy the Quiet Life tablets in Boots at the moment they are on offer 3 for 2, you can shop on line with Boots, only just looked them up they are also on Amazon.

Paul and the girls are coming later as usual, we are having roast beef today, Yorkshire puddings and all the usual veg. Then it's ice hockey this evening for Paul & Richard. Otherwise not a lot planned.

Just having another cuppa then I will do the veg, the beef is already in the oven on a very low heat.

Have a good day everyone

Morning all,

I had a good lay in this morning. Was up once in the night and had had a strange dream. Something about gipsies and shining a lamp in your eyes from a distance and a burgalery (sp) and a LARGE dog watching some people in camp.

Well its not long now till Ruby Day just 13 more sleeps.........................O its getting so exciting... :-D :-) :-D :-) :-) :-D :-D

Grey sky here today but i suppose it is quite bright if you know what I mean.

magpie

magpie Report 5 Feb 2017 11:49

Thanks for that Anne. Our Boots didn't have Quiet Life the last time I tried, only Kalms. I usually get a couple of bottles of them from Amazon which last quite a long time so I'm not after them very often!
Not too bad a morning here, must take Cas for a run.

We have sunshine. It came out just after I posted this morning.

Ssuppose I have spoken too soon and now we will lose it.

We had such a hard frost last night just before I went to bed my car windows had great shards all over them and on the roof too. If it had'nt have been so cold out there I wouldhave gone and taken a pic.
