Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Feb 2017 11:23

I hav'nt even thought about tonights dinner yet! Must do that and think I will do homemade soup too as it is so cold outside even though the suns shining. It soon burnt all the frost away.

I have some nice rolls too so I shall warm those under the grill to go with the soup. I saved some nice meaty gravy day before yesterday so that shall go in too.

Afternoon all

It's really cold here today, our boiler was playing up this morning to so it was really cold in the bungalow. Luckily it was just the pressure so OH topped it up and it's working again now.

Pleased to hear your daughter and her hubby are now sorting things out Liz, that must be a relief for you. I bet you're looking forward to seeing them and of course the cake :-) It sounds like you're going to be busy with your marmalade making and the home made soup. I like chicken korma although I haven't had it for a while. I'm not keen on things that are to spicy.

Sorry to hear Fitz is feeling unwell Jane. That must of been a shock when the police called round to speak with him. Do you know what's going on yet?

Love the photo's Mel, you must have a really good camera to get such brilliant photo's of the moon, there is so much detail on them. Lovely flowers in your garden. I'd love to see all your gardens but I suppose they're to big to take photo's of all of them. Have the TV's been sorted yet? Yes, Sandra has mentioned her birthday, not sure what we're going to do for her yet, it depends on the weather. When we took her to the zoo it poured down and although we enjoyed the day we got very wet and cold, so this year we might organise something indoors for her. Not sure what yet though.

Did you get any snow last night Mandy, it's that cold here today I'm expecting some frost tonight, don't think there is any snow forecast for around here though. What a shame about the crown, could you make her one out of cardboard and cover it in tin foil and some stick on crystals if you have some? Can't wait to see some photo's if you take them.

Pleased to hear you had a good nights sleep the other night Ann, unfortunately I didn't get much sleep last night. I started with a sore throat and ear ache yesterday and when I'm under the weather I tend to have bad dreams which is what happened last night, so no doubt I'll be shattered again later. It sounds like you had a bit of an odd dream too.

Mum's just called round for a cuppa and a chat which was nice. She's gone home now so I'm going to get back to reading another book on Bob the cat, we got it from the library this morning. I noticed there are another couple of books about Bob so will ask the library if they have them next time I'm there. Sandra has nearly finished the one she's on and will want to read this one soon, so I'd better get it read then it's ready for her.

I posted your birthday cards today Mandy and Mel. I know yours will be a bit early Mel, but our post has been weird lately so I thought I'd post it the same time as Mandy's so you didn't get it late. Hope yours turns up on time Mandy.

Going to have a sandwich now. I fancy Tuna and Mayo :-)

Frank Report 9 Feb 2017 13:07

Afternoon you chatter box's lol lol.

Nice photo's Mel, Your snowdrops put mine to shame !! We do have a few patches around the garden that look nice this time of year.

Buried Treasure or a BODY Jane, you must keep us posted. You know what a nosey lot we are ;-) ;-) ;-)

Haven't watched the Vet programme, but read all the books by James Herriott (sp) back in the 70s. Once I started one I couldn't put it down. I had some read good belly laughs at some of the things they got unto. I also enjoyed the T.V. Series.

No frost here this morning, certainly not when I got up at 8.00 am.

Every Boxing day I would take my ex and children to BRIGSTOCK near Corby to see the hunt go off. Then we would follow by road for a while before giving up and going home.

I think I will do Shin of Beef in a casserole for tonight, mash and veg. Can go in the oven for the afternoon on low heat, it will melt in the mouth by 6.00 pm.

Liz I have never heard of Duck burger either. but when you think about it WHY shouldn't there be, you can have anything you like in a burger ;-) ;-) ;-)

See you later.

Good Afternoon all

Dull and cold here but at least it's dry which is a bonus.

Had the Sainsbury order delivered and now it's all put away so no more shopping for a week thank goodness.

Ann .that was a very weird dream you had the other night, you must have been glad to wake up.

Your photos were brilliant Mel especially all of those beautiful snow drops. Also the Moon being so clear

Just going to have some chicken and sweetcorn soup for lunch and stir fry for the evening meal, so very easy, Also fresh cream Choux buns

Mel you share a birthday date with Emma one of my many nieces, when she was a teenager the postman thought she had a lot of Valentine cards.

Afternoon all,

Really cold out today ,not much in the way of snow yet just a few tiny tiny flakes and what looks like tiny polystyrene balls coming down .

I shall look out for the post then Gill thank you ,i had two cards through the post yesterday so i have put them on the side .
Glad your OH got your boiler sorted you wouldn't want to be without heat in this weather .

Mel lovely photo's of all your snow drops in the garden they look so pretty .
The photos of the moon are good you must have had a nice clear night to get the close ups like that .

Well i didn't have a very good nights sleep last night ,some thing upset my tummy i woke just after two and was still awake at four o'clock, i was in and out of bed about five times !! tummy feels ok this morning i just feel a bit tired .

Oh my goodness Ann that was more of a nightmare than a dream what ever made you dream of that .

Well its a day for keeping in the warm so thats what we're doing thia afternoon ,the fire is roaring away so we're all nice and cosy .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Feb 2017 14:46

Mandy that'll teach you to say you don't have any trouble sleeping. I hope the tummy feels better today and I don't blame you staying i the warm for the day.

I just went outside and noticed Robby was in my shed flying about and the door was closed. I took the bantams food out of there this morning and closed the top door again so he must have been in there all morning.

Afternoon All,

Thanks for the photos Mel. The moon ones are just like I put on my FB page a couple of weeks ago! You have a lovely patch of snowdrops in your orchard. Do they increase every year? Where we ate today at what was the old manor I've mentioned before they have been cutting down more of their huge trees which I hate to see. Also the men were just trampling over all the beautiful snowdrops that are underneath them!! :-S Your OH's comment reminded me of a pal of OH's. He and his wife heard an almighty crash in the back garden and their young son flew indoors saying 'I've done nothing' before they had chance to say anything!'.

If the police interviewed Fitz Jane, you would think what's been found is likely to be more recent than ancient bones? It will be interesting to hear what it is once they say.

I have PM'd you my birthday date Anne. Not much time now till you fetch the lovely Ruby and can be trying on her new harness etc! :-)

I hope things work out for your daughter Liz. They seem to have a few ups and downs but it can't be easy raising a family and running a business at the same time.

I hope your tum is better now Mandy. The night seems so long when you feel a bit grim. You need to be on top form today to sew up those maids skirts!! :-)

Gill you have quite a big garden, bigger now you have done some changes! The books seem to be going down well with Sandra and it's good the library managed to get some. I thought it was wonderful when aged about 9 my friend who lived opposite us introduced me to the local library. It opened up a whole new world for me as I was bought very few books by my parents, there wasn't even a bookcase at home. I later read books by people like Thomas Hardy without even knowing they were famous!

Frank, a chap I worked with bought all the James Herriot books and lent me them to read. You are right, they were hilarious in places and you couldn't help but laugh!

Well, we still have the turntable, but yet another email to Tesco seems to have got the ball rolling. It SHOULD be collected on Monday afternoon, fingers crossed!!

Afternoon Everyone
I have been in and out like a yoyo today. Eyebrow tidy this morning.Home for a coffee then out for a few bits. Then this afternon it was haircut then home, and then out again as I forgot to post someones birthday card ;-).

Mel your pics are lovely .So many snowdrops!!! and Crocus too. Out little crocus shoots are only just peeping through. Some have gone for a burton as the squirrel dug them all up from a couple of pots :-| :-|

Ann.Did you watch Silent Witness. With whatshername buried underground in that box? I ask ,because I saw that and like you had a dream that I was in my coffin too !!!!!.Mine was open and it was my funeral service.I was singing along to the Hymns LOL
We have a funeral on the 17th.It is one of the retired GP's from Chris's Surgery. He had Parkinson's .

I had a little drive down the lane this morning to have a nosey. But there was no Police Tent up. Ann,Fitz wasn't interviewed .The police were just informing them that something of interest had been found and not to worry when they saw the tent.So I am none the wiser at the moment.

Tomorrow I have to take Thomas to the new Cattery. That will be in the afternoon.I thought I would be picking him up on Sunday ,but they close at 12 that day and out train doesn't get in until 1.30 ,so he will have to stay until Monday :-(

Oh dear Mandy.what a rotten night you had. Can you think what might have caused it or maybe it is onew of these 12hour kind of bugs. Fitz's,son Tom ,and his Partner had something like that and then Georgette got it as she had been at their place looking after little Ottilie.Hopefully you won't be passing it on to OH or the family and that you will be ok again for your Birthday.
I need to check my list of Birthdays.Would someone kindly send me a full list please? :-D as I am sure I might have missed someone when putting the dates on my calendar.

Annx

Annx Report 9 Feb 2017 17:15

Well how strange Jane! I did see Silent Witness with her buried in the coffin but never made the connection after my dream. Fancy you having a similar dream too! I must admit being buried like that, not knowing where you are and with just a mobile to contact anyone would be a worst nightmare. It obviously played on our subconscious minds!!! OH will be going to the funeral of that footie friend who died recently. The funeral will be a month after he died. What a long time to wait.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 Feb 2017 18:36

There you see two reasons why you had that dream Ann, one silient witness and two oh's friend dying and him going to the funeral.

Well I am just as bad......there was me saying I never sleep during the day and I was on the pc playing cards and just could'nt keep my eyes open!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I went and lay on the bed with oh who had just gone in there too. We both fell asleep but he got up before me and I slept till nearly 5pm. The sun was shining on us when we lay down and it was going down when I woke. I had to rush out to give the girls some corn.

Chic ken breast for us tonight and I have some Hickory Smoked bacon medalions which I think may go nicely with it and cauli cheese. We had two bowls of homemade soup at lunchtime and two rolls each and then oh had some of my nice white cob with his second bowl.

Anne Report 9 Feb 2017 18:52

I have had a splitting headache which started with a migraine and a visual disturbance I took a migrralieve tablet about 2o/c which did help a bit.

I read most of the James Herriot books and we often visited Thirsk where his practice was, it was when we had our touring caravan and we use to stay on Thirsk race course. His real name was James Aflred Wight.

My parents had loads of books when I was young including all the classics. I also visited the mobile library once a week. Our home now has too many books really and they seem to be in nearly every room, Richard has a lot of Art & History books.

I think the only birthday I need is Liz's if you could pm please Liz

magpie Report 9 Feb 2017 19:58

My birthday is in January Anne, but don't worry about it as I don't make much of it so no one knows unless they ask!!
Our house has a lot of books too as did my parents home. Not quite as many now I buy or borrow from Amazon (kindle) They do take up a lot of room!! Yes James Herriot was Alf Wight! I've got all the book's and CD's. All Creatures Great and Small was a great favourite with all us years ago.
Don't think we'll be getting any snow here, it is cold though!

Jane

Jane Report 9 Feb 2017 20:39

Ann,that is so weird we had the same kind of dream. It must have been to do with Silent Witness !!!.Our minds/subconscious must work in the same way :-)

Anne,I hope your horrible migraine headache is easing up a bit now.

BOOKS. We have so many !!!!. I wouldn't even like to begin counting. Not as many as Fitz though he must have a thousand (plus) !!!!!....I seem to remember when he moved to where he is now he had at least 36 big boxes of books.

James has just sent a message to say he is finally leaving work .So I can put his dinner in to cook. That will take a good 30 mins !!!
I am now going to get ready for bed and then watch the last of the Unforgotten.

Morning All

I have been up since 6.30 ,had my breakfast ,3 big mugs of tea and watched a very interesting programme on Korean Education. What a difference !!!!!
There are tiny bits of snow falling at the moment and it's freezing. Even Thomas hasn't poked his nose outside yet.
Off for a shower now and then a quick trip to M&S.

Gillx Report 10 Feb 2017 09:15

Morning Jane morning all

Same here Jane, we have little bits of snow. I woke Sandra up to show her incase it stopped, but she couldn't see it. I must admit I had to look twice just to make sure, so I don't think they'll be enough for her to build a snowman today. She's gone back to bed now. OH's out so I'm on my own at the moment. At least the boiler is still working so the bungalow is warming up nicely.

I finished the Bob book yesterday so Sandra is reading it now. It's all about a Christmas James had with Bob and his friend Bella, another good book. I noticed there are two other books he's written so I'm going to see if we can get them from the library next time we're there.

I think I'll watch Call the Midwife I recorded the other day while it's quiet. Hope the weather isn't to bad for your trip to M&S

What is everyone else up to today?

magpie

magpie Report 10 Feb 2017 10:18

OH has gone to the Dentist this am. He'll call into Waitrose on the way back for a few odds and ends! (He's got a list!)
Cold here but no snow. I think you'd have to go further North Gill to find enough snow for a snowman! I don't think we will be getting more than a dusting if that!
Not much doing today, shall be glad when it's Spring!

Morning you lot,

You're all very chatty this morning. I usually get here and nobody has posted.

We have no sun today just grey skies and the grounds wet. It is warmer here though than it has been of late.

Nothing planned for the day here. I hate to go to the shops on a Friday as they always seem busy with people getting ready for the weekend. Every day is the same for us really.

I have had an email from Frank but can't open the pictures on it. Not sure if its a reply from my email or he has sent me some pics.

Frank

Frank Report 10 Feb 2017 12:02

Good Morning to you all, Evening Kim,

Mel, the email I sent was in reply to your photo's, so not to worry. !!

We have a light fluttering of sleet/snow. But I doubt it will come to anything.

We are both still in our dressing gowns, when the door bell went. It was Carol down the close. Hallo Frank How are you this morning. I thought Bloody hell what's happened to her. It turns out she had been to the hospital to see her boyfriend and his doctor while on his rounds. They have just realised he has Pneumonia and has had it for THREE WEEKS. Something wrong there me thinks !!!

I had a letter this morning for my eye follow up appointment. It's SUNDAY 26th March at 12.40 pm. What a funny day to have it. ??

So no buried body then Jane. I wonder what it can be. ?? Is there nothing in the Evening Telegraph.(do they still print it) ??

Tonight I will do Ros a nice Sirloin Steak, with salad and Jacket potato. Mushrooms and pepper sauce. I might do myself a nice piece of COD in butter and milk in the oven with Mash and peas. Haven't had that for years. !!!
What's that old saying "TOO COLD FOR SNOW" I think they are right. It's real "BRASS MONKEYS" outside.

Another lazy day in paradise for me today. After my shower and shave. I will put my joggers on and sit in my armchair. I won't need to do much until I get dinner tonight.

I have been on my little exercise bike thingy this morning, as I don't want to go out in this COLD North Easterly wind.

Have a good day all.

I must see if i can do some stitching this afternoon i didn't get round to it yesterday.
