You had some lovely flowers Mel and a bouquet for Jane and chocs for both of you! I never want flowers for Valentines Day but did get 4 cards. ;-) I bet you are glad the cyst has popped now Jane. I expect it feels a bit more comfortable. I must look for some of those plasters....they sound good. I had a look at the wedding venue and it will be 'different' as you say. It's probably the sort of thing I would have gone for if there had been a do when I got married the first time! It will be lovely as long as it doesn't rain.

I need to pop to the shop in the village now as we need some milk. I meant to ask OH to get some on his way to footie earlier. :-S

Jane

Jane Report 14 Feb 2017 19:51

Ann,the plasters are Elastoplast Finger Strips :-D.I get mine in Tesco. They are good.Well worth having a pack in the cupboard.I make sure I have a good supply of them at the moment :-D.If this cyst doesn't fill up again then I won't need that injection.I wait and see.

Anyone watching Moorside tonight? I will, but it does make me a bit uncomfortable knowing that Shannon Matthews might be watching this. I know she has a new identity now but she must remember who she was and what happened to her.I am sure she doesn't need reminding of those terrible days she was drugged and kept hidden in the base of a bed :-(

Annx Report 14 Feb 2017 22:22

Well, 'scuse the pun but fingers crossed the cyst doesn't fill up Jane if it will save having the injection! Thanks for saying what the plasters are.......I'll pop them on the shopping list. :-)

I'm beginning to think we need a new light fitting for the kitchen. The one we have is 3 spotlights on a circle and I've had a job to get energy bulbs for it this time so got some different ones. Well, OH managed to replace the bulb that had gone, but wanted to swap the other 2 for new ones and keep the old ones as spares. He couldn't manage to screw 2 of the new ones in far enough to work , so we now have 2 old bulbs and 1 new. That would be ok except the new one is so powerful it is shining like the helicopter beam straight in our eyes as we walk in the kitchen and is making the other 2 old bulbs look like candlelight!! :-0 :-0

We had a huge flock of Fieldfares in the field at the back this afternoon. OH fetched me to see them as he thought they were Starlings. They were making such a lot of twittering and I recognised what they were after Mel telling me a few years ago. I've never seen them in the field before.

Morning all,

Dull and grey this morning ,i now looked up and i can spots of rain on the window .

Lacey is coming for the day so i have to go and pick her up about ten ,i don't know how we'll get on as she doesn't like Max so poor Max will have to be in his crate for a while today.

Maybe the little rub with the wedding ring helped the cyst to burst Jane , hope it's not so sore today and doesn't fill up again.

Did you enjoy your day yesterday Mel ? I'm glad you liked the Biscornu and it hadn't come out of the envelope .

Gillx Report 15 Feb 2017 10:25

Morning all

Warmer here today but still lots of clouds around.

Sorry to hear your meal wasn't very good Frank, you should of told them I'm sure they would of replaced it, although they should of given you a hot meal to start with. How is your ankle today, hope it's feeling better.

What a shame you couldn't buy the flowers from Aldi Anne. Do you know someone with a car who could take you back, it'd be a pity to miss out? We have a couple of Acers including a lovely red one, so might pop that in the back of the new border when I make it as I think they can grow quite high. Everything I've got is in pots so I'll have to make sure they don't grow to big if I'm going to put them in the ground.
I really would love a garden just like the picture, but it would take years and lots of work to achieve that, so it's just a guide more than anything else. I'm sure I can add something colourful with less maintenance to make the garden look better all year round.
Not long now before you collect Ruby. Did you manage to Ruby proof your garden. I bet you can't wait to have her with you?

Pleased to hear the turntable has finally been collected, they took their time didn't they? The plant you mentioned Ann is beautiful, I've taken a look at it online, very expensive though. I buy a lot from a garden centre in Buckinghamshire but they don't seem to have it in stock. I might give them a ring later to see if they can get hold of it as their prices are quite reasonable. The website I found it on want almost £100 for one around 4 foot high which I thought was a bit to much money.

I was thinking of putting some of my pots in the ground as they are dong okay in their pots but would look like they have been planted out, also when we do move I can take them with me without disturbing their roots, I'd just need to lift the pots back out of the ground. I have done this before, but like Mel said you need to keep a close eye on them and water when necessary, I water all my pots on a regular basis anyway so no extra work for me to do, apart from digging all the large holes to put them in of course, at least they wouldn't get blown over by the wind.

Thank you Mel for your kind offer of some Lemon Balm, I look forward to receiving them. When I was in my early 20's OH was out of work for a short time and we'd just moved house, we had quite a large garden but no money to buy plants with, so my family and friends gave me cuttings. I ended up with such a pretty garden thanks to their kind generosity and called it my FRIENDSHIP GARDEN it turned out to be the best garden I'd ever had. Unfortunately I didn't think to take cuttings for my next garden, but I often think of it and wonder how it's getting on.
You had some lovely flowers yesterday didn't you. It's so nice have flowers around, Sandra bought me a huge flower arrangement for my 50th birthday and they lasted for ages.

Pleased to hear your cyst has finally popped Jane, it must feel so much better now. The plasters sound great I might get some. I remember last year with all the hard landscaping OH and I went through so many plasters all them useless and fell off within minutes, these sound so much better. I had a look at the Oak Grove, it looks a lovely place, like you said it's going to be a different kind of wedding.
How is Thomas today, is he more settled now? Sandra and I watched Moorside such a sad story, I to wondered how she would be feeling about it being on TV, hope it didn't bring back to many bad memories.

So you have Lacey with you today Mandy, that should be nice, do you have anything planed for the day? Pity she doesn't like Max, is she nervous around dogs? I used to be like that for years until a few years ago when my neighbour got such a lovely little dog and since then I've not been as bad. I'm still nervous around big dogs though, but that is probably because I was bitten by an Alsatian when I was three years old.

It does sound like you'd be better off buying a new light fitting for your kitchen Ann, you can't be doing with a bright light shinning in your eyes every time you walk in there. It must look a bit odd to with having the other two bulbs looking like candle lights. Hope you find something you like to replace it with.

Morning all,

Brightish morning here but the sky is grey and the sun is trying to peep out through the cloud.

I had such a lovely day yesterday and now I have to do the shopping today as we need some salad stuff and meat and of course oh's cider.

Poor lacey being frightened of dear Max. Hope you have a nice day together and find lots to do. Yes the Biscornu arrived safely and the envelope was'nt too badly torn. Just as well you put it in tissue though. Oh could'nt get over all the tiny stitches and commented that it must have taken you a very long time to do it.

Glad your cyst popped Jane and now your finger must feel easier. They can make the skin feel really tight can't they?

I hav'nt seen those plasters but will have a look out for them as oh is always making his fingers leak. I usually buy the padded plasters as I find they stay on better than most.

Frank Report 15 Feb 2017 11:52

Morning all, Evening Kim.

First let me apologies for keep calling Ros DOS. I must keep missing the key. !!

So the cyst has popped it's clogs at last. It must feel a lot better without it. Keep it covered for a few dos, to give it chance to heal. (Hark at me, telling Nurse Jane what to do ) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Sounds like you girls had some lovely flowers and Chocs. I suppose you deserved them <3 <3

Nothing happening in this part of the world. So no news is good news.

The ankle is fine now thanks. I am going to write a couple of posters to stick under the wipers, if they are there next time I walk down to the pub. TOTAL DISREGARD for WALKERS. How a Mum with a pushchair would manage I don't know. WALK IN THE ROAD.!!! The pot holes around here are getting so bad, even on the pavements. So I will be reporting them to the council.

I see the Nationwide are reducing their investment Rates. Tesco have closed their 3% interest, due to 10s of thousands of investors.

Jan is on WHAT'S APP to Ros, they have been chatting for over half an hour. Good job it's FREE.

Roast Chicken tonight. I had eggs, bacon, tomatoes on toast for breakfast. The bacon was through cut. If you don't know it, it's the cut that has the back bacon and streaky in one. I haven't had that since I was at home as a teenager. Can't say I like it as much as BACK BACON.

Going to look around FB and Ebay to pass an hour or so.

Frank Report 15 Feb 2017 14:31

We were just saying the sky looks full of snow. It is so grey.

You seemed to have had lots of cards Mel, how many did you get ???

Jan said that the sun is shining in Devon, and asked when we are going down for a week. I don't feel like the journey at the moment, as I am sure Ros doesn't either. It's a long way to go to sit in someone else's home for a week or so.

I hav used the "LONG BACK" to cover the chicken for dinner tonight. It's a way to use it, and saves throwing it away.

I see there's a match on this evening, but not sure I will go down or not. It will depend a lot how the weather is.

We think next door are expecting company. The HOOVER has been going on and off all morning. It's very rare that we hear it !!!!

Ros is sewing more blanket 's ready to go back next Tuesday. By the way, she is joining MOTHERS CLUB next Tuesday Evening. Quite a few elder women are members including SIDS Val, so it will be a evening out for her. They do go out as a group quite often, so it will be good for her to mix with the village people, rather just Val, Carolyn and Martine as friends and shopping pals.

Not long now Anne. I bet everything is in hand for your little "RUBY"

It's not SNOW it's raining now. So a wet afternoon and evening. I think it looks like I will be at home. :-( :-( :-(

Anne

Anne Report 15 Feb 2017 15:35

Good afternoon all

Raining quite hard here now so going no where outside today.

I've spent sometime cleaning the conservatory while the cats were out as they spend a lot of time in there and they had left paw marks all over the window sills so cleaned them and vacuumed the settee and armchairs plus the carpet. I am trying to do as many jobs as I can [a mini spring clean really] as I don't think much will be done next week. Not long now before Princess Ruby moves in

Mandy it's a pity that Lacey is frightened of Max but she could get used to him after a time, poor boy must wonder what he's done wrong, I hope she enjoys the day with you anyway.

You don't very often hear of long back bacon now, when we were first married in 1960 I can remember asking for green back bacon [unsmoked] Sainsburys back then wasn't self service and had different queues for all the different products, so people often had to ask customers at the end of a queue what it was for i.e. "Is this the egg queue" they only sold perishables back then in the Hastings shop.

Gill I could ask Paul to take me to Aldi but I don't like to bother him over small things as he lives the other side of town, I know he wouldn't mind but I do like to be independent as much as I can be.

I hope your finger is healing up now Jane and doesn't give you anymore discomfort, how is young Thomas's mood now?

Michael one of my BIL has a health scare, he goes on really long walks a lot and a couple of times one of his legs has gone completely dead so much that he had trouble getting home, he went to his doctor and she is arranging for him to have a brain scan as she suspects it could be MS, I do hope she's wrong.

We had such a lovely day yesterday, journey wasn't too bad even though it's half term, and the stones just as I remember them when we went to Avebury many years ago with my S-Father, just after my mother died! All in all a thumbs up!
Today we did a big shop, and then took Cas to be weighed! She's now 12 kilos and our lovely veterinary nurse said that her weight was just right for her now she's fully grown and to try and keep it at that level, so that's a good job done!
Rained hard here earlier on but now it's sunny, so time for a quick run before settling down

Afternoon All
It is absolutely tipping it down here now after quite a nice morning. I opened the back door and Thomas came haring in looking like a drowned rat !. I gave him a bit of a rub down with a towel which he hates ,but he must feel more comfortable now.
Fitz came for lunch and onlt left about half an hour ago. I was just clearing up the dishes and dropped a Radish on the kitchen floor.Thomas has been batting it around all over the place LOL.It has done the full round of downstairs now. I now know what will amuse him :-D :-D

Liz ,it sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday :-D,and Cas is bang on target for her weight.(wish I was :-S )

What a shame Lacey is frightened of Max. Is it because he is a bit boisterous ? I am sure she will soon get to love him :-D..Dogs can be a bit scary sometimes when you are a little person.

Anne, I do hope your BIL is not diagnosed with MS. This will be a big worry until he has the brain scan. I know someone with MS. She has had it for probably 25yrs (plus).I saw her not so long ago and she is still doing pretty well

Loved the pic of the Fieldfares on FB Ann :-D :-D.You were lucky to get that photo.

I was getting used to Ros being called Dos Frank :-D ;-) We know who you mean :-D :-D

My finger feels so much better now that that dreaded cyst has popped.Still got the lump though.,and now another knobbly lump on another finger on my other hand :-S. I don't like all the age related problems.

2 more days now Anne and then you will be off to bring Ruby home :-D :-D :-D.She is going to have a wonderful life with you and Richard <3

I started this post over an hour ago !! .

Whilst waiting at the meat counter in Morrisons this afternoon, I waited 10 mins for someone to serve me, I looked at the bacon and they had that Long back but it was called Middle Cut so thats another name for it.

We had a nice sunny afternoon after our dullish start to the day. We hav'nt had any heting on today but I think I shall turn it on for a while tonight.

Just love the Group Selfie Jane and you did all manage to get in it too and have Big Ben in the background.

Do you live far from Aldi Anne, maybe they wouldn't mind you borrowing one of their trollies to take them home, it would be a shame to miss out on beautiful flowers just because you don't have the transport. Sorry to hear about Michael, hope it isn't MS

Morning all

Another dull day, very cloudy, but it's not forecast to rain so that's something. It's suppose to be warming up over the next few days, lets hope we get some sun.

You are funny Mel......running behind LOL ;-) ;-)

HW today, I don't want to be looking at the dust if we do get the sun and the beds need changing again. I'm hoping OH can find something to put up in the loft as loft boards so I can make a start on my sorting. I've had lots of boxes on my dining room floor for ages but can't make them up and put anything in them until they can be put in the loft as there isn't enough space to put packed boxes. OH is thinking of breaking up some pallets and using the wood off them.

He's off work on Sunday so will be tackling the big tree trunk, it needs to be cut up so he can take it down the tip, no one wants it for their log burners and it's in the way where it is now, plus I don't want all the sap going everywhere. Last year when we were cutting all the hedge away the sap was terrible and ruined so many of our clothes. That's the problem with sap, it doesn't wash out. If there was a way of doing it, it would make a really good glue ;-) ;-) ;-)

Going to get a cuppa then pop some washing in the machine.

What is everyone else up to today?
