Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Feb 2017 12:46

You'll get on well if G is out for most of the day Ann.

Oh mowed our lawns at the weekend just to get them a bit tidy and he has'nt put the stripes in yet. He also rolled it with the BIG roller. Its a farm roller!

Its really sull here but its not cold either and its sort of one of those quiet days. The birds are singing though and we've had 4 female pheasents round the back gate asking for corn which they got. The most we have had in females I think is 9 and Phil so 10 alltogether.

We have a funeral to go to on Friday.

Anne eating their own poo is a common problem with very young dogs. It could be a vitamin D deficiency but I doubt it!! Almost certainly she'll grow out of it so apart for the fact that it'll make her breath smell vile, I wouldn't worry about it, just be ready with that poop scoop. If in doubt consult the vet, but I guess you know that!!!!!
Goodness, time for lunch, cheese and biscuits today I think!

Afternoon all,

Really warm here today in the sun ,Colin is out side doing a few jobs and i might get a bit of gardening done this afternoon.

Anne ,Max use to do that i had to get to it quick before he did but he soon grew out of it thank goodness ,i found if i had a treat it helped because it distracted him from it and i could pick it up while he was eating the treat .
She was good this morning if you woke her at seven ,they soon get to know when you get up ,some mornings Max will whine but mostly now i am up before he wakes to let him out .

You'll get loads done today with OH out for the day Ann ,its surprising how they keep stopping you when your trying to get things done .

Frank Report 20 Feb 2017 14:03

Well It is a first for me .Today I walked down the garden. It's the first time since the tree came down. Ros has been busy tidying around. She has painted one of the fence this morning as well. I'm sorry to say that my knee is not up to doing any work yet. I have come in doors shaking like a leaf. After my shower and shave I always feel whacked out.

Minted Lamb steaks, and the remains of yesterday's joint for dinner tonight. I am doing Jacket Potato's Spring Greens, (from the garden) and whatever I find in the fridge. I might make her a Rice pudding for afters. She really likes mine. !!!

You are doing better than us Mandy, It's turned quite fresh in the breeze, and we have a lot of cloud building up. :-( :-( :-(.

Jane

Jane Report 20 Feb 2017 15:32

Afternoon All

It is all cloud here and not as warm as I thought it was supposed to be. Bit disappointing really.
Anne I daren't say tis ,but Chester was a devil for those unsavoury snacks :-S :-S.The only thing it wasn't his own,but other dogs :-S :-S..I nev er could stop him from such behaviour. In the end I just had to keep on the long lead rather than letting him off as he would be of snack snack snacking :-| :-| :-|..He was disgusting.
I do think though it is common for youung ones to eat their own. Fingers crossed she will soon give up that idea.

Chris thinks he might have cracked a rib quite high up.Probably from when he was chopping and lopping the other day. So is having to take things a bit easy .Reading and painting is the order of the day.

Need to empty the washing machine.I just realised it must have finished over an hour ago!!!

Annx

Annx Report 20 Feb 2017 15:41

Is it your old neighbour's funeral Mel? OH is going to the funeral of his footie pal on Friday too.

I meant to say that Thomas isn't letting his accident hold him back is he? Oh dear, just read your post and that Chris has injured himself. There's no treatment for that other than rest is there. It must be quite painful.

No breeze here yet but it feels quite hot to me. I seem to have done loads of odd jobs with not much to show for it yet!

Jane

Jane Report 20 Feb 2017 17:49

Ann I am amazed really how well Thomas recovered from that op and the fact he doesn't actually have a proper hip joint now on that back leg.I think probably still being a young cat has helped. He is fast asleep now but should be out chasing Rabbits. I just spotted a big one down the bottom of the garden ! :-S
Chris will just have to be sensible (if that is possible). No trying to be a Macho Man .
At least tomorrow we will be out for lunch so he won't want to be doing anything in the garden. He says he can breath ok without any pain ,but a cough or a laugh has him gripping his chest. He is not good at taking painkillers and trys to tough things out which is so silly. I know what he would be telling patients .

Lots of funerals at the moment :-(.It was the Funeral on Friday of a retired GP from Chris's practice. He had Parkinson's. That will be a sad one for OH Ann,with his friend being so young. Mel ,where is the funeral being held (I am guessing it is Em's Grandma). I just wondered if it might be at the same Crem Janice and I went to for my Aunty Joyces funeral (when we came to see you).

I'm not sure if I can see some tiny spots of rain on the window. The trees look like they are blowing around a bit.

So tomorrow we are going somewhere new for lunch. It is an old favourite of Fitz.I think it is called The Old Bridge at Huntington. It is about a half hour drive from here.

Frank,I reckon soon you will be able to do a few jobs around the garden.Nothing major ,but maybe Ros will be able to find some bits that would be easy enough for you. :-D

I think it the last programme tonight of the Halcyon. I shall look forward to that.I have really enjoyed it.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 20 Feb 2017 18:05

A cracked rib for poor Chris ouch !! so no making him laugh ,i remember ýears ago my dad cracked his ribs , he slipped getting out of the bath ,he was strapped up for several weeks and had so much pain .

Well son only has Tonsillitis again !! he been to the doctors and has more antibiotics , he said last night he felt some thing click and pop in his throat and then he had blood and lots of dark gunk , i wonder if he had an abscess and it burst.

The sun dissappeared this afternoon and its been really cloudy ,the sky looked so black and stormy i thought we were in for rain but its kept dry .

Son broke two ribs years ago playing football! He was in SO much pain it was just awful so sympathy for Chris!
Yes it's the last episode of The Halcyon and we've really enjoyed it too Jane.
Cold Lamb, smash and carrot and apple salad for supper, easy and nice!

Jane

Jane Report 20 Feb 2017 18:45

Mandy ,has the Doctor ever discussed with your Son about having his Tonsils out? He has has had so many bouts and so many antibiotics .This one sounds horrible :-S.
I know I have said before ,but the best thing James had done was having his tonsils out after years of problems.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 20 Feb 2017 18:54

I don't think the doctor has said any thing to son about him having his Tonsils out ,the last couple of times he has seen the nurse practitioner who has prescribed the antibiotics ,i think if this happens again he should see the doctor about having them out , he sent me a photo of his throat and it does look nasty .

Jane

Jane Report 20 Feb 2017 19:02

I think he needs a chat with the GP Mandy. He seems to be getting too many episodes ,and this one today with blood and gunk sounds horrible.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Feb 2017 19:40

That does sound horrid Mandy I too think he should see the doctor and as soon as can be arranged. He won't like it if the poison gets into his system. He needs to see the doctor and not the nurse.

We have been in a cloud all day. Very fine mist but it has'nt been cold.

I have made dauphinoise potatoes to go with our cold lamb tonight and will probably do peas with it too. Nice and easy. I have just got to cut the meat up.

The funeral will be at our local church next to the big house and Margaret will probably be buried with her hubby George in the graveyard. So I will have three people to speak to when I go to the church as I do that with mum and George, o and Les's wife Marg too.

Poor Chris with his cracked rib. My dad did that when I was young playing footie. He too was bound up tight across his chest.

Tatoes are smelling nice. I put a bit of garlic in them. I don't usually do that. I must amke a bit of stuffing for oh too.

magpie

magpie Report 20 Feb 2017 19:48

Years ago children routinely had their tonsils out, then it was thought not to be necessary. I had mine + adenoids out when I was six! Son had his out when he was 10, but only because he had ENT problems including a gromit in his right ear as he was becoming quite deaf. He still has hearing problems years later. Daughter's never had hers out, but has never had any problems.
Supper's all done and cleared away and we're both flopped in front of the TV! University Challenge, Island Parish, then The Halcyon, then bed!

Annx

Annx Report 20 Feb 2017 20:05

That sounds horrid Mandy and I bet it made a nasty taste in his mouth. I had repeated bouts of tonsillitis as a child but mum refused to let them take my tonsils out and I seemed to grow out of it. I never had anything like that happen though and it does sound as if he may need his out if they keep getting infections so quickly.

I hope you have a nice meal at the new place tomorrow Jane. Chris will just have to keep any chuckles at bay won't he! OH cracked his ribs when some aluminium steps buckled under him and he fell across them as he landed. He had some colourful bruises and we were going on holiday soon after and he couldn't drive as turning the car made him wince!

OH said he had a shock at the car park charges in Birmingham today. Luckily he got a discount through the company that was running the conference, but if he hadn't he said it would have been £20! :-0

Frank Report 20 Feb 2017 21:01

Evening all, I am in the conservatory watching the football (HALF TIME),

My twin sister and I had ours out when we were very young. I remember they (the nurses) gave us a spoonful of JAM. I think that had the drugs in to put us to sleep.I know we were on Jelly and Ice-cream for a few days.

I remember the "BRIDGE" at Huntington back in the 60s, quite an upmarket place then, as I expect it is today, right on the river. I hope you enjoy it.

I felt a light misty rain in the air this afternoon, but Ros worked on through it. She never came in till almost 5.00 pm.

Football starting, see you tomorrow.

Morning All
Not a great start to the day.The dishwasher has gone phutt!. James came down at 6 this morning and it was making a very strange noise (it should have switched off about 10 last night). We couldn't turn it off at all so had to unplug under the sink.
Just arranged an engineer who will be here on Friday. I better look out the Marigolds now LOL
While I was on the phone Thomas was behaving like something crazy throwing a toy and chasing it all over the place. He has left great clumps of black fur all over the carpet :-S

No I can go and have a shower and hair wash :-D...We are leaving here at 11.30 for lunch.

Morning all,

Filthy day today raining and a bit of a wind.

Poor Jane now the dishwasher is out of order....... There's always some thing going wrong is'nt there? As you say get the Marigolds out. Mine are always out as I can't wash up without them.

Have a lovely lunch today with Fitzy and forget about the washer. Don't drink too much wine.

Di is comeing this morning to bring me some chips she bought for me from Lidl. I like their chucky chip. Morrisons are too small.

Gillx Report 21 Feb 2017 10:56

Morning all

A dull day today. So much for the good weather yesterday, it only lasted a few hours then the wind picked up and it rained all afternoon, the temperature dropped a lot too and it was a really cold night.

I had the same thought of using a bucket Liz for collecting the weeds but the weather turned and it was to wet to do it in the end. OH's having trouble sawing the rest of the stump down to ground level. He has a few half days in work this week, so weather permitting will carry on with it then, hopefully it'll be done by the end of the week.

Sorry to hear about your dishwasher Jane, I don't have one (no room in my kitchen) so I'm the dishwasher ;-) ;-) Enjoy your meal out with Fitz today. Hope Chris isn't in to much pain.

Your poor son Mandy, I agree with the other's, he should go and see the doctor, it doesn't sound very nice. Maybe having his tonsils out would be better for him, he can't carry on like this. Hope he's feeling a bit better today.

So you're almost there with your craft then Mel? Can't wait to hear all about it and see a pic if you take one.

Don't over do things in the garden Frank, it's not going anywhere so can wait until you feel up to it. It sounds like Ros is enjoying herself, she'll have it looking lovely in no time with all the new plants.

Hope Ruby had another good nights sleep Anne and soon gets over her snacking.

I felt a bit sick yesterday, so whatever Sandra had the other day I think I had it to. Just like her though it didn't last long and I'm feeling much better today.

Going to get a cuppa, nothing planned for today so I might take another look at my family tree, I was on a roll before I felt unwell, so I want to get back to it now. Sandra is still asleep and OH is in work, so it's nice and quiet.
