Billy no mates !!!!
Tried paying back the facia without any luck. The wooded frame that holds it is broken, so will have to wait until Harvey comes up one Sunday for lunch. Unless I can get someone in the village to do it.
Ros has been in the garden since 11.00 am I have just called her to see if she needs anything, she doesn't, so she will carry on what she is doing until she's ready to come in.
I am feeling COLD, Tired and very sleepy. I am trying to stay awake, which is easier said than done.
Started reading a book I started months ago. I have got back into the story line, so will continue to try to read it. It has 6,000 odd pages, I am on 247. !!!

I'm back. The funeral went very well and we were down the church very early to get a seat which we did. It was donations to Cancer Reserch and Dementia. All the immediate family members had tiny bunches of daffodils to drop in the grave which was a nice thought. We weent back to the village hall afterwards where there was a huge spread laid out and sherry, cider, orange juice , tea and coffee.
We have sunshine still but there is a biting breeze that cuts right though you.
My crocus are all open wide today and have great big bumble bees in them.
I hav'nt even thought about dinner for tonight. Maybe if I got some chicken out I could do that in a casserole with tinned toms and sweetcorn.
You've a lot of pages to read in that book Frank. Hope you get on with it ok and can manage to read it. Hope too the knee dos'nt play up too much after its jolt this morning. x it better from me.

Afternoon All,
The emails were different Mel. The second one had 3 more articles added underneath the first one I sent before. I even changed the subject of the email to 'All 4 Reports about John Labdon'. Did you scroll down to see the others? I found them on FMP. Where did you find yours? The weather's better for the funeral today, yesterday would have been awful. The one OH has gone to is just about to start. He went very early to park as he expects there to be a crowd too.
Thomas looked very settled and comfy on the bed Jane. He is a big cat isn't he. How is your knee today?
I like just a few daffs inside Liz. It does make you think the winter is on it's way out. I saw some flowering currant in bloom yesterday. It was so popular when I was a teenager, everyone seemed to have a bush.

You be careful with that poor knee Frank! You've had enough bother with it without inviting more trouble. :-) Stick to reading your book, it should keep you busy for a long while.
The local magazine has just arrived and I was surprised to see a photo of my old neighbour that lived next door to my parents in Littlethorpe. He had died suddenly at home last month aged 88. He was a builder and they were both still living in the pretty bungalow he built there in the 50s. I can't imagine his wife will manage there on her own now as there is half an acre of garden. I'm beginning to feel all the folk I knew from my teens are popping off one by one! :-S

Frank ,it sounds like it is quite a job to fix the fascia.I hope you haven't been climbing ladders :-S..Yes best wait until someone can fix it for you.
Chris put all the panels and door back on the greenhouse this morning after the dishwasher chap had gone.I had better start looking to see what dishwasher to get.Apparently the split seams in the washer is not a common problem but has been known to happen with this Bosch Model. It is only 3 yrs old. Bit like my big freezer just before Xmas that was only 3 yrs old too and had to be written off.
Ann,I was thinking the same about people in the village where i grew up.All those who would have been around the same age as my Mum have gone. Just a couple left now that I know of.It will be such a shame if the old lady has to move out now after having been there for so long.Did her Husband still look after all that garden?
Thomas looks much bigger than he really is.He has such thick fur.I can't even spread it to get down to the skin to do his flea treatment. He is just a little Fluff Ball lol He did enjoy spending the night on the bed with me :-D.But that won't become a regular thing. It was just a one off.
Mel ,what a lovely idea of the family to have little bunches of Daffs to throw onto the coffin. The spread in the village hall sounded good :-)
Well ,my toenails are now cut lovely and short. It was quite a pleasurable experience.I was in there for about 30 minutes ,even had some hard skin filed ,nails buffed and feet moisturised :-D. I bought their stuff for fungal nails .I was told I have some eczema on the bottom of one of my feet :-S...I'm just rotting LOL
Frank you said that you and Ros were thinking of going to have your toenails done. Go for it :-D.I think it is worth it.I will certainly have mine done again.
Liz ,I haven't seen one Daff out here.Ours our just about coming into bud. I think I will have to buy a bunch or 2. I do like Daffs
I can see Ruby's nickname being Betty LOL Hannah has a friend called Betty .It is not her real name .I can't for the life of me think what her name is now as we have always known her as Betty !!.I must ask Hannah.
Thomas is on the move .I think he wants out.

Thanks for the video Jane, Thomas is a lovely cat. Not a bad day here. OH had a blood test first thing then he went off to Waitrose with a fairly long list all of which he managed to find much to my surprise!! This afternoon we had a lovely walk and now are about to have chicken sweet and sour, with rice. Glad the funeral went ok Mel, and that the weather was fairly good. Nothing on TV tonight (it gets worse!!) apart from Michael Portillo (sp!) on his train journey, we love this programme!

I enjoy Michael Portillo and his train journeys too Liz. No there is not much on tonight that takes my fancy. It might be an early night with the Kindle. Thomas is a lovely boy.He fell on his feet when he found us .I love him to bits. He is still not straying too far and is in and out all day. Home now and in for the night. I think he is adjusting to home life after who knows how long living rough.I would love to know where he came from and why he had been abandoned (or lost). He had been neutered so someone must have cared for him at some time.He was a skinny thing when he turned up here. He is still not a lap cat though.Likes his own space :-) Hannah is taking Gareth to some cafe in London on Sunday where cats are part of the place.I need to look this one up !!
Just googled it. It is called Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium !!!!!!. Have a look at the pics!

Morning all, evening Kim,
Quite windy here this morning and very cloudy. So don't expect to see any yellow stuff today.
The Stew was lovely last night, but didn't agree with my tummy lol lol. Enough said.
I'm glad the funeral went off O.K. Mel. It must be very difficult to cater for things like that, as you don't know how many are coming back.
Jane it was the same with our last cat. He just turned up on the lawn at Gayton eating the birds bread. Ros fed him and that was it. He came in and never left our sides until he died in my arms, many years later. MY "FRIEND" will always have a place in my heart. Don't start me off :-( :-( :-(
I don't know if I have caught anything from Ros's coughing and spluttering but I have the shivers this morning and a runny nose. So I don't think I will be going to the pub at lunchtime.
I see the Daily Mail are offering a M & S Joint of Lamb worth £15.00 for tokens that you can collect from today, If anyone is interested.
Ros is off out late this morning as Martine is having her hair done first thing.
Spoke with Conrad last night. He is full of "MAN FLU" dosing himself up with mixtures and tablets. to try to fed it off.
I will get some joggers on, put on the heating and settle in my armchair with my kindle, and have a peaceful day. Well until Ros comes back and puts the Tele on.
See you later, and stay warm. !!!

Morning all,
Dry today but a bit dull and I hav jarred a tooth yesterday and today it hurts when I swallow. It must have been the roast potato as they were'nt nice and crispy but hard and a bit rubbery on the outside. I know they were'nt the lovely Maris Piper I use. I think Jane uses those too.
Only have to do the local shop for the paper and butter today and deliver Em's eggs. She read a lovely poem at the end of the srevice yesterday. I brought the service book home but I have left it in the car. When I go out I will bring it in and type it out for you. She said she adapted it, she did'nt write it just changed a few bits.
Still only have the one artical from Ann. Nothing that is telling me anything about him from his son and I don't have a FMP sub. :-(

Good luck in chosing one Jane.
We watched the canal thing last night with Nigel Havers, Lorain Chase Simon Callow and Debbie Mcgee. They paired up to go on narrow boats and its been good. some interesting bits along the way and some funny parts too. Lorain fell in the canal. Last night Simon and Debbie had the longer boat and bumped it a lot.
Its getting duller by the minuet here.

Afternoon All,
I don't know if Doris is trying to make a comeback but it's getting breezier here. OH has gone to a match at Market Drayton, about 77 miles I think he said. He keeps trying to get me to go with him and was tempting me with some of the nice gardens in the area. The Dorothy Clive garden looked good, but would look better in a month or two plus it is quite chilly in all this wind so I've stayed put!! I've put my 'staying in' clothes on like Frank and just switched the heating on to take the chill off.
Frank I saw that and will be collecting the coupons!! We had a free M&S chicken from them last summer. Yes that man did do all the garden himself Jane. It is only about 3 miles from here so I pass by quite often and have seen him out in the garden. Mum's old house and the other six in the row between the villages (a bit like your position with fields front and back also) All had big gardens. The man's bungalow had twice the width of my parents quarter of an acre. One quarter of an acre had the bungalow on it and the other quarter of an acre was next to it between it and the next house. When we moved there we thought he would eventually build another place next to his to sell or that it would be a pony paddock for his 2 small daughters but neither happened!! Over time he built himself another extra big garage on the spare plot with a wide drive down to it and just mowed the rest of it. I said to OH last night that it might be somewhere to consider buying if it came up for sale, but then we thought how many new houses are going up from the edge of the village one side and that builders own the fields opposite now!! Even if the plot next to it is built on it won't be a bungalow they put on it, it will have 3-4 houses crammed together on the plot instead. :-S What did occur to me last night was that their second little baby girl, born soon after we moved there would be aged 54 now!!!! I think when you don't have children yourself you don't realise how time is moving on.
I bet Hannah will enjoy the feline friends! There have been one or two articles about Cat Cafes. I expect they have to have cats that don't want to wander off or they'd be rushing outside as people come in.......or perhaps they have double doors like bird aviaries. :-D
Many apologies Mel.......I seem to have saved two documents and sent you the wrong one without all the info!! I have em you it again and added an article about someone else of the same name that worked on the railways and might be a descendant of the man!! I don't regularly subscribe to FMP either, just buy a few credits now and then or take up an offer when they have one. I hope that tooth settles down soon.
I was rewatching the webinar they did as I missed the first bit. How shocking that the average lifespan of a professional in the 1830s was 35 and for poorer folk was teenage. I think it said 1 in 5 children didn't reach the age of 5. It makes you wonder about the gaps between the birth of children in your family tree. How many miscarriages, stillbirths etc.

Afternoon all,
Dull here today it looks like it could rain before long.
Nothing much happening here ,we've been and done a little shopping ,called in to see son his throat is a little better ,i hoovered through when we got home and Colin laid the fire ready to light later .
Jane that cat emporium sounds great ,it must be lovely for someone who loves cats but carn't have them where they live to go and spend time with them, and the tea and cakes sound good too.
We watch the barging programme too Mel ,they've had one or bumps along the way ,they are such long barges they must take some handling especially as they haven't had that much experience with them.
Hows the little Ruby doing Anne ? I bet the girls are loving playing with her .

Afternoon all
Overcast here today with a bit of a breeze, nothing like the other day thankfully. I didn't get a chance to come back on here yesterday as the fencing/screening, greenhouse etc...took longer than we thought, then we both needed baths and something to eat. I was so tired that I had an early night. But everything is fixed now, apart from the screening on Victor Meldrew's side, all we could do with that was push it back in place. It needed securing on his side but OH was saying that he has that much junk in his back garden he struggled to get anywhere near the fence, so no doubt it'll blow back onto his side and need pushing back this way again in the future. Hopefully he'll get that fed up of it he might agree to us sorting it out properly from his side. It's jammed in quite hard against the bungalow so should hold unless another storm hits.
Sorry to hear about your dishwasher Jane, the voucher code came through quickly, lets hope the delivery is just as quick for you. I've never heard of that problem either :-S :-S Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium looks great, Sandra and I love cats......I'll show her later when she's finished watching the music awards in the other room.
How is your Knee today Frank, good idea to get someone else to fix the facia's, it's not worth taking the risk of hurting yourself again. Your book should keep you occupied for some time to come with all those pages in it. ;-) ;-) Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather today, keep warm, hope you feel better soon and Conrad too.
Glad the funeral went well, good job it wasn't the day before, with the storm Mel. The daffodils were a nice touch. Sorry to hear about your tooth, it sound like you'll need a trip to the dentist.
Carrying on copying over my family tree today, I seem to be finding more as I'm going along which is why it's taking me so long.
Going to have a sandwich first.......tuna and mayo, me thinks ;-)

New Dishwasher sorted and it will be here on Friday :-D.The voucher was for £520 which was really good as it covered the new washer, fitting, taking away of the old one and full cover for 5 years. Also a yearly valet .So all in all a good deal. The company had recommended a different machine which was cheaper than the one we have now.But I wanted the same one again which is what I have done.If I had gone for the cheaper one any money left over from the voucher would be lost as it couldn't be used to by anything else !!!!
Gill you and OH have done well to fix everything in the garden. Old Buggerlugs next door will have to put up with the bit of screen if he is unwilling to let you sort it from his side :-D.
So Mel and Frank seem to be coming down with another cold :-(..I think the colds must be doing the rounds again as when I was out there were several people coughing and sneezing :-S
It is pretty miserable here.Breezy and a bit rainy. Not too warm either.I haven't lit the fire but the heating has been on for most of the day. Thomas has been out now for a few hours which is unlike him these days. Mybe he has found a nice warm place for a snooze. That Cat Emporium looks great doesn't it.I have been looking at lots of pics of it. Gareth is a huge cat lover so I think he is really going to love this place. I reckon next it will be Jess wanting James to take her.She is cat mad!.I don't see it as being the kind of place James would choose to go to though. It would be under duress LOL I wonder if cat hair gets into the sandwiches and cakes!
Mandy your son must be feeling a bit better now his throat is improving.Lets hope this latest episode will be the last. (It doesn't seem likely though from past experience)
I have been watching Neighbours from Hell this afternoon.Oh my goodness what some folk have to put up with !!!!! There are some very nasty and crazy neighbours out there, and it goes on for years. One lady came across as being the victim and yet she was the instigator .It's good when things are caught on camera or video .Right old to do's :-D :-D
How is little Ruby? One week now Anne :-D.I bet she enjoyed meeting your friends dogs :-D I think I will go and whistle for Thomas as it looks like the rain is getting heavier now.

I now have a very raw throat and the pain is coming back in the roof of my mouth so I better take some more paracetamol.
This is really weird as oh has put a great magnifier bit on so I can read the things Ann sent. I am on the long one and it is very feint and the typing is blurd. I am about two thirds of the way down it now and its taken me the whole afternoon to get this far.
By the way Ann it was his first son Thomas who was on that one.
Oh put open office on my pc today and he printed them out for me too on my new printer.
Last Taboo tonight Liz........Boo hoo. I have enjoyed this series. Wonder what we will get next.
Broadchurch starts again next week and I am looking forward to that if its as good as the first one was.

Good evening all
As Ruby is asleep at the moment and we have just finished eating. I have now managed to get on here.
She has been a little minx today full of mischief I think she has worn herself and me out. She does love a cuddle when she is tired and tries to jump up on my lap, she can now conquer the stairs so they have to be blocked off as it's Shadow's safe place on her hammock. Toby prefers the conservatory as it's his haven
I have a chiropodist come to the house every 8 weeks, I first had her visit when I was caring for Peter and there was no way I could cut his toenails, finger nails were bad enough.
I would love to visit the cat café but would want to adopt them all. I know how you feel about losing your cat Frank, I still feel sad when I think about Timmy.
The girls are coming tomorrow but next week they want to stay for the weekend, I think Ruby is part of the reason this time.
Pleased to hear you have now sorted your garden out after Doris's visit Gill.
That programme Nightmare Neighbours is a real eye opener with what some people have to put up with, I have also watched in the past about obsessive cleaners where they help someone whose house is a real mess.
Richard has now got this awful cough that is doing the rounds, this is the 2nd time this winter.
It's quite windy again and raining hard but not at all cold.
That sounds a really good deal you have on the dishwasher Jane.
I hope you soon feel better Mel it's miserable when you have a sore throat.

Mel, the long article is quite blurry and gets worse if you enlarge it. I thought you might be best using a magnifier and typing it up !! I hope you aren't coming down with a cold. OH felt a bit sad about his pal's funeral. He said so much more could have been said about the good things he had done.
I missed beading and the meal yesterday after being up and down with the trots! I think it's like before when I have some icecreams or cream you can't see in a desert or some batter on things. It will teach me not to eat these things!
I love the way the cats have their safe places to retreat to when Miss dynamite is letting off steam Anne!! :-D I bet the girls are really looking forward to seeing her again. I've watched the cleaner prog before too and wished they would give my place a 'bottoming'. You don't hear that said much nowadays. Some of the houses they go in are a positive health hazard, but often there's a sad tale of how the person got in such a state.
That was a good outcome with your DW Jane. I bet you will miss it till Friday.

OMG Ant and Dec are on the Tele. I think they are just OTT. I moan all the time they are on, so have come out of the way. Not much on the Tele tonight, so hope I can find something on SKY.
Had a Chinese takeaway from somewhere new tonight. They deliver, so saved us going out. It was quite nice but lots of Chilly, that Ros hates, I forgot to say "NO CHILLIES" in her meal.
Had a fair bit of rain here this afternoon. I have been in my dressing gown since 3.00 pm with a fleece around my legs. I feel like an old man tonight. !!!
Anne is you need a break from RUBY you only need to iet me know. !!!
All set up for a new D/W then Jane. I hope tis one doesn't have split seams later, or you will need another NEW ONE. !!!
Still got an upset tummy, so I don't suppose the Chinese will help it :-| :-| :-|
