Who will have Ruby while you're on holiday Anne? or is it somewhere you can take her with you?

Anne

Anne Report 27 Feb 2017 15:25

Mel, Ruby will be coming with us as did our boxers, we always choose dog friendly places I have no interest in going abroad and no way would I put her or any of the others in Kennels. Next door looks after the cats for us.

Frank, Richard will be having exactly the same meal as you as there was a fair bit of beef over from yesterday, I will have an omelette. Paul and I had a Kentucky fried chicken at lunch time, he is on a late shift this week so will be seeing him next on Sunday. Ros is such a hard worker if I do half as much as her I am tired out,
Good to see you emailing funnies again Frank The valentine card made me laugh

Still raining hard here
:-( :-( :-( :-(

Afternoon Everyone

We keep having short power cuts like we had last week. It is so irritating but hopefuly the casserole has cooked properly.I will just keep it the oven on a low heat now until tonight.
My finger cyst was aspirated and injected with the steroid .I has a anaesthetic inj first into the cyst.Boy did it sting. So now we wait and see it if it comes back again. It is fine and not hurting just looks a purpley/black colour :-S

Anne that will be a lovely holiday. Chris keeps on about going to North Yorkshire later this year.
Ruby will have so much fun :-D.Is it in cottage?

The lights seem to be flickering a bit so I am wondering if the power is going to go again.I better post this quickly just in case I lose it.

Anne

Anne Report 27 Feb 2017 17:00

Jane the property is called Boundcliffe Farm at Allerston through Sykes. I hope your finger will now settle down for good and not cause you anymore discomfort

Jane

Jane Report 27 Feb 2017 17:36

I will have a peek Anne :-D

I meant to say in my last post that when I was leaving M&S carpark this morning I saw a scruffy hoodie with a wire basket stacked to the brim with packs of meat !!!!!. It looked like he had just come out from M&S.He had his hood up and had head down and was walking pretty swiftly. I did notice a women spot him and she got her phone out so possibly ringing the police. I followed him for a little way but then he went along a path walkway so I lost him then.I bet that he would be selling the meat for drug money.I am surprised though that he wasn't spotted by security.

Frank, you will be looking forward to having your walks again by the canal. It is so beautiful there.Once the weather improves and the ground is dry you will be off.I seem to remember a few years ago you went A overT down by the canal.

Ann, I see so many people 'walking' these days.Far more than even just a year ago. Maybe people have got these Fitbits and so it encourages them to do the 10,000 steps .That seems a decent distance for OH to do . Maybe we should all walk a bit more :-D.The trouble is with painful knees and hips etc it isn't that easy is it.

Mel your itch sounds dreadful ,especially if you are making your skin bleed with scratching :-S.. Did you have an antihistamine to see if that helps? It does sound like you need to see the GP though.

Chris booked the French TGV(high speed train) tickets today for our trip to Lyon in May. Honestly the price is amazing. This is first class ,Paris to Lyon and Lyon to Paris. First Class £75 per person. I think it is about 500 miles miles each way.
What would that cost in England I wonder !!!!!!!!!. What a great price. Puts us to shame with what they charge for rail travel.

Pancake day tomorrow. Are you all making Pancakes?. I'm not :-D. Chris and I are out for lunch .He was supposed to be lunching with Sue (his ex work colleague ) but she has to take her daughter for some hospital appointment ,so I am taking her place LOL. I bought some Pancakes with Butterscotch sauce that just go in the Microwave for James. He can do that himself along with his ready meal :-D.

Thomas is definitely hunting bunnies now. I don't know how many he can eat but he hasn't had any of his own food for 2 days now !!!. He looks totally stuffed and knackered . Bit like me after a very heavy meal :-D

I think we could be in for a cold night .The sky has cleared ,the rain has passed and the wind has dropped.I thought I heard that there could even be the possibility of wintery showers at some point.

Going to have a look at your Holiday place now Anne.

Just popping in to say Jonathan has been and sorted the printer.

Ros's little Robin has been seen by the neighbour going in to the garage through the hole in the front of th garage with moss and things. So the fascia with have to stay down until he/she have finished nesting. How lovely that will be. I wonder where they will pick, I will keep my eye on them <3 <3 <3 <3
Will read the posts in the morning.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Feb 2017 19:41

Rang the docs at just before 4pm and they gave me an appoointment for 4.15pm so I shot in the shower and rushed down there. He has'nt given me anything for the itch but new antihistamines as mine were quite old. I did take one when Jane said and I showered and used Dimple soap which I hate. Anyway not too bad at the moment and we have changed the bed so no excuses for anything now.

Thats sounded a good price for the tickets Jane.

I shall make homemade pancakes tomorrow as usual. I did forget one year and I think it may have been last year but I made them later in the week. We will have lovely yellow pancakes with my fresh eggs and so will Em next door.

Annx

Annx Report 27 Feb 2017 21:13

I hope the new antihistamines stop the itching Mel. I know from those wasp stings how it can drive you mad especially at night. It was a good idea to get checked with the doctor.

That's good the injection is over Jane. Let's hope that fixes it now. Yes I'm sure the fitbits becoming popular means more people are walking. Ages ago I used to do a circuit all around the village most mornings that took an hour. It was about 3 miles, up and down hill and was somewhere around 7000 steps. I found it cured my achey hips after making them worse the first week! I have an assortment of pedometers from then but the count on them varied a bit. One only counts 'purposeful' steps! According to it I didn't do many of those! lol. Those tickets are amazingly cheap as you say!

Anne I looked at the place you are going to and it looks lovely. Ruby will love it too!! I love Yorkshire and before we started going to Cornwall, we spent a few holidays in the Yorkshire dales and really liked it. I did a computerised payroll training course in Scarborough many years ago, stopping at a hotel overlooking the sea. The others will remember me saying before that The Crankies were playing there and staying in our hotel.

I'm off to bed now, I feel quite weary and have to be up early tomorrow for my appointment at the hairdresser. It is less than a mile away, but there will be so much traffic about I will have to leave plenty of time.

Morning all

Just a quickie to let you all know my laptop is playing up so I might not be on after today. I need a new battery as it's saying it's not charging up, it started last night so I only have what power I have in my battery and when that has gone I won't be able to get back online until I buy a new one. OH is working all week so I don't know how long it'll be. So if I'm not online for a while you all know why.

On a positive we had a little snow yesterday, mixed in with rain so Sandra was happy and it looks like we had a bit more in the night as there is a patch of snow in the middle of the lawn and on the greenhouse roof. I doubt it'll still be there when Sandra wakes up though.

Well, I'd better go before my battery power runs out. Hope I'm not offline for to long.

Frank

Frank Report 28 Feb 2017 10:32

Good morning all, Evening Kim,

I have been checking flights for June to go and see Conrad. I have tried East Midlands, Birmingham and Luton. Luton is the cheapest by far, but Ros says she doesn't want to go there because of the walk back when we land. We have the assistance package, but there are never enough staff on duty to see us back to the bus for the car park. I am going to look into Priority Parking close to departure lounge. It might be what I will pay extra for it, will compensate for the extra price at the other airports.

That was an excellent price for your journey Jane. I bet if you were looking at London to Glasgow it would be near £200.00 Glad your finger is showing signs of improvement lets hope it doesn't decide to come back.

Gill Will look forward to seeing you when you get sorted with your battery.

Oh Mel, That must feel so good, not having to scratch all the time. Now with a nice clean bed also. !!!

Anne I bet Ruby will love the open Countryside of Yorkshire. All those lovely new smells, and walks. When are you planning on going ??

Yes Ann, I think you must be the most walked person on the THREAD. You are always off somewhere or other. <3 <3. We can tell be all the lovely photo's you send us.

Bright sky, and a bit of wind here. Guess what Ros is going to do. ?? It won't be long before she finishes the top end by the patio. Then she will start down the right hand fence, she has to get more paint tomorrow.

Steak and Kidney pie tonight with Mash and veg. Pancakes with sugar and lemon for afters. We will be like Friar Tuck, by the time we are finished.

Morning all,

Oh said we had frozen hailstone all down the road this morning. We have sunshine now and a light breeze. I am so pleased Sandra had a little snow at last as she has waited for it so long now. Not enough for a snowman though.

I am still itching this morning and on reading the leaflet for the anti thingies don't know if I should take one today or not. It says if you take indigestion things not to take them for two hours. I take Omeprezole which is for indigestion.

Did anyone see Broadchurch last night?

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Feb 2017 15:39

Afternoon all,

Bright and breezy here today, looks lovely when your indoors looking out but my goodness when your out the wind nips at your ears.

Hope that itching soon goes Mel ,i take my anti hayfever tablets with my indigestion tablets ( Lansoprazole )

Gill i need a new battery on my lap top but i find it works ok when i plug it into the electric and use it , the battery just doesn't hold the charge any more , i must get son to order me a new battery .

Hows the finger today Jane ? hope its not to sore after yesterday , is Chris still in pain with his ribs ?

So not to long now Anne before you'll be able to walk little Ruby out ,have you tried her on the lead yet ?
She will be just a nice age by the time you go in August and the walks on the moors will be lovely , it looks a nice cottage , we stayed in a cottage near Pickering years ago, it was a lovely holiday.
I remember we took a trip on the steam train and it was a very hot day so we opened the windows and once we got going we got covered in smuts coming in from the
engine .
Son was a teenager then and we bought him his first skateboard there ,i remember BIL having a go on it and coming off with quite a wallop !! he had a bit of a bruise for the rest of the holiday.

Who is having Pancakes tonight ? :-D got to be lemon and sugar on ours .

Frank

Frank Report 28 Feb 2017 15:51

Ros has found the ROBINS NEST. It's right in the middle of a set of shelves, where I store half empty tins of paint. So won't be going there anyway. She has put a dish of meal worms down for him/her so they will get use to Ros being around. He was round her feet while she painting this morning. RAIN STOPPED PLAY earlier, now the sun's out again.

It has taken me over an hour to order my sister some Flowers for Saturday. I had to ring my sister for her postcode. which was wrong anyway. So rang SIL Fran and she had it. So alls well.

I have never holidayed in the Yorkshire Dales. I keep promising we will go on a coach holiday one of these days. But with our aching bodies, somehow I don't think we could sit that long day after day.

Sewing machine on the go now. So I will catch a bit of Tele for an hour.

See you soon.

Annx

Annx Report 28 Feb 2017 16:59

Afternoon All,

After a nice sunny start it is miserable rain now.

Mel it may be that taking the Omeprazole would affect the absorption of the antihistamine that they advise that gap. I would ring the pharmacy and ask them to explain the reason why. I find them very good like that.

I bet you are chuffed that Johnathan has sorted your printer Frank. He's good to help you out. It sounds like paying the bit extra on top of your flights will be well worth it to make things easier and more enjoyable, especially as it might cost no more. I've started to think like that now too :-) Ros is doing the fence at just the right time before the plants are growing well. I'm looking forward to seeing it on some of your photos when the plants are in bloom!! How great to have the little Robin's nest where you can see it. It will appreciate you putting the food nearby when it has mouths to feed. I wish my knees were better so I could walk further.......I know what the doc would say......lose weight!!

OH says a fan he met at a match a fortnight ago had travelled by train from up north. OH said the journey would have taken an hour by car and his ticket cost him £95 and wasn't first class!!

Sorry to hear you have battery trouble Gill and I hope you can get another soon. :-). I don't think mine holds the charge so well now but I usually run it off the mains when I can.

I was nearly late for my hair trim this morning as a bin lorry was trying to turn around to reverse and block me in. I had to toot and nip round him while he was looking for where the 'toot' had come from! When I came home there was a great removal van moving someone in to the bungalow where the old chap that died a few weeks ago lived and there was barely room to squeeze by. They must have had to keep moving for the lorries delivering to the builder.

Mandy, I can just picture the 'smuts'! lol. I remember going on lovely trip once on a narrow gauge little train up to Goatland over the moors. All this talk is making me want to go to Yorkshire again.

OH has gone off to the first of his 2 meetings so I'll get on with some jobs now. I've put my Christmas jigsaw away as I never got around to starting it. I thought I might take it when we go away as there is a big dining table there. We don't often go out in the evenings as we are usually tired by then and it's good to do while watching tv.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 28 Feb 2017 18:40

It will be lovely to see the little robins ,are they nesting early ? the weather must be putting them all out , at least you know what food you put down they will eat if there's no other birds about in the garage .

I sat at the table in the conservatory earlier and i happened to look up and i saw three heads with hats on going up and down ,i got up and there were three horses with riders going up the churchyard :-0 one of the riders jumped down and i could see her kicking something onto the side ,i think the horse had " been " :-0 now if that had been a dog we would have to pick it up but can you imagine having to pick that up !! you'd need a carrier bag :-D i just need to remember when i walk up not to walk on that side .
It's not very good as lots of children walk through there to the school, and talking about school Katie and Lacey's school have now got a Double Decker bus in the school grounds , they are going to use it as a library ,books down the bottom and reading room at the top :-D

So your still dodging lorries Ann , i bet the people moving in weren't happy to have to keep waiting while the removal lorry had to keep moving because of the builders ,you just want to get your things in and get straight .

Raining here now .

Jane

Jane Report 28 Feb 2017 19:04

Evening All

I think your fences are gong to be the best in your road Frank :-D.That is nice that the Robins nest has been found. You will be waiting for the day the little babies hatch :-D
I have no idea where all our birds are nesting. Hopefully nowhere where Thomas can get to!

Mandy ,my finger is absolutley fine today. No pain at all ,the cyst is much flatter now but looking a bit black.I think that is just a bit of blood under the skin.I will keep it covered until tomorrow .
As for Chris and his ribs,he is still in quite a lot of pain and discomfort at times. But he know thinks that what he has done is to tear the tendons that join the muscles to the ribs.He did say a name but it is a complicatd one and I can't remember. He says it could be a few weeks before it feels back to normal.

Ann,I think you must do a fair bit of walking,as Anne says you are always out and about exploring different and new places.
I have often get stuck behind a bin lorry in one of the narrow streets when I am on the way to the hairdressers.I should know by now not to go that way on Thursdays as that is bin day there and I always have my appointment on Thurdsays !!

Mel how is the itchies this evening? It must be driving you around the bend by now.

I hope Gill gets her new battery soon for the computer. At least she managed to let us know she would be missing for a while.

Chris and I went to Ascoughs Ann today for lunch. The menu just changed today and I was so pleased as I thought that it would still be Febs menu which didn't impress me at all. This one was good so I think you will like the choice :-D.We were good and didn't have that delicious Garlic and Cheese Bread or a desert. Just a Starter and Main.

Well it is pouring here :-S.Thomas has been in since 12 !!!.So he won't be happy when he sticks his nose out the back door.

I think taking your puzzle when you go away is a great idea Ann.Even if you don't start it.If you should have some rainy days and don't fancy going out(hopefully you won't) then it will give you something to do .Is it just you who likes the puzzles or does OH help?

Janice and Larry are off tomorrow. They have to take all the dogs to the Kennels in hte morning.Janice is getting herself in a bit of a tizzy about leaving little Gilly. This will be the first time in Kennels for her.The 3 dogs will all be in the same kennel which is nice. The eldest dog Riley is not too well though and he is Gillies soulmate. So that is another concern. But as I said to her she knows that they will all be really well cared for and just to get away and enjoy the cruise. They have to fly to Barbados to join the ship.9 and a half hour flight ! But then 16 wonderful days to chill out and not have to think about anything :-D They deserve a good break.

Anne I am sure you have been thinking about your dear Peter today on what would be his birthday <3

Frank

Frank Report 28 Feb 2017 19:53

Evening all, Eastenders are on, most depressing programme, I hate it.

Steak and Kidney pie was beautiful. I cut it in half and the bits were BIG. By the time I got the meat on the plate with the crust there wasn't a lot of room for the Mash, boiled parsnips, cabbage and carrots. I couldn't eat all mine. Ros finished hers, and had THREE PANCAKES. I couldn't even face ONE.

I see there is a programme about Chester Zoo later tonight. I will sit and watch that before having an early night. I feel shattered this evening. I hope I am not going down with anything.

I bet Janice and Larry will enjoy the cruise. Have they been before ??The flight might be long, but that is the start of a nice holiday.

See you all in the morning.

Jane

Jane Report 28 Feb 2017 20:36

Frank, lets hope you are feeling weary just because you need a good sleep and not coming down with something. I like a Steak Pie,but NOT Kidney. No dinner for us tonight .Chris had a Yoghurt just now.I might have a Banana.

Eastenders is the only soap I watch.I know it is always doom and gloom but I like it :-D :-D.
I am waiting to watch the new programme The Replacement on BBC1 at 9.
I reckon Chris will be in bed by then.I know that he is has pain /discomort because I keep seeing him going to the medicine cupboard .He tries to do it secretly an pretend he is fine. But I don't miss a trick :-D.Why he can be honest and just say ,I don't know.
Maybe he thinks it is a weakness to admit he has pain.Just be truthful is what I say.

I have a feeling Janice has done a Caribbean cruise before but don't think she had the long flight like this time. This is the cheap cruise when the ship comes back to England after the winter .It doesn't stop at all the usual destinations.Just a few .

I have been thinking so hard to try and get us back to Childhood Memories.
All those rhymes to work out who was in or out
One Potato
Two Potato
Three Potato More
Five Potato
Six Potato That kind of thing.

Did the shopping but did'nt go till quite late so got back late and then by the time I had unpacked it all it was time to get dinner on the go. Oh had his usual curry which he does in the micro and I had two nice boiled eggs. One was laid today and the other was yesterdays. After that I cooked the pancakes. Oh had three with maple syrup and lemon squeezed on top but I always have mine with sugar and lemon like Mandy. No other way to have them me thinks.

I am sure your sister will enjoy the well earned rest on her cruise Jane even if they have to endure the long flight.

Jane how about

Ibble obble black bobble ibble obble out.

Ip dip sky blue, I’m it not you

As I was walking down the lake,
I met a little Rattlesnake;
I gave him so much jelly-cake,
It made his little belly ache.
