Morning all

Quite a bright day here and reasonably warm with it. It's nice to see the sun for a change. I noticed the weather forecast this morning and we're supposed to be getting snow tonight and tomorrow........YES US :-D :-D :-D

OH is off work so if we get enough Sandra will be able to make her snowman at last. I'm not going to tell her about the snow just incase there isn't enough or we don't get any at all, I wouldn't want to build her hopes up for nothing, but it's supposed to be coming in the night and tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed. Sandra will be so happy if it happens.

OH's friend came round last night to take a look at my laptop, he fiddled with it for a few minutes and now for some reason my battery is charging and is fully charged. He did say that might happen but I will need a new one, which he's kindly ordered for me. It was something to do with the cells in the battery, it means nothing to me, but at least I know I can use my laptop again. I thought at first it was something to do with the power pack but thankfully it wasn't. He said the same as you Mandy that I can still use it off the electric, which is good as I have lots of messages off Genes members about my tree which will probably take me most of today to go through.

I haven't had a chance to read al the post yet, so I hope all went well with the injection Jane <3

I've taken a look at the heucheras Mel, what lovely plants and lots of different colours, thank you <3 <3 <3 Hope you are feeling better now, sorry if you've already said, I've only read a few posts so have probably missed all sorts.

Love the photo's Ann, what pretty flowers and the robin too. He was quite chunky wasn't he? Looks like maybe someone has been putting bird food out for him.

How is Ros now Frank with her waterworks? Hope she's not over doing things in the garden. Is the painting finished. The fence between us and next doors is ours according to him, anyway. I asked him last year. We should of taken it down and replaced it, so it looks like we'll have to do it this year now, unless it can be supported on his side. We'll just have to wait and see if we can catch him in a good mood when the nice weather is here.

Well, I'd better go and read these messages, there's quite a few to get through ;-) ;-)

Good morning all

Pleased to hear your battery problem seems to be sorted Gill, I do hope Sandra gets her snow she can gave our share too if we get any.

I am taking the opportunity to get on here has Ruby as tired herself out leaving the sitting room looking as there has been an explosion in a pet shop
Richard is off sick at he moment he has such a chesty cough and not getting much sleep, I did manage to get a fair bit of housework done yesterday as he kept an eye little miss dynamite. Louis. the plumber he works with came round and fitted a new mixer tap on the bathroom wash basin as on Monday it had a persistent and quite heavy drip from the cold water side and as we have a water meter I didn't want to leave it too long, the only thing is he would only take payment for the parts he purchased, Richard will buy him some beers when he returns to work but we were able to give him several new children's books and games
that we had put to one side for birthdays etc as he has a little boy.

Must go and get myself some breakfast while all is peaceful. Richard is still asleep hopefully he had a better night sleep, I can't hearing him coughing in the night as the other two bedrooms are in between mine and his

Hope everyone has a good day in case I don't get back later

Frank Report 1 Mar 2017 10:53

Morning my beauties, evening Kim,

Bright blue sky with sunshine and no WIND yet !!.

I was going to say Gill SNOW is forecast for the Liverpool area tonight. So you could have a happy Sandra tomorrow. !!

Ros has just taken the car for it's MOT. so hope it passes without any problems.

I had an early night last night and slept right through until 7.30. Didn't have to go to the loo once ;-) ;-) ;-)

What do you think Chris has done to his back Jane. He should go and see a DOCTOR :-D :-D :-D

Anne, Ruby sounds as if she is having the time of her life chasing around like a mad thing. Once she has tired herself out, you get a bit of peace while she sleeps. BLESS HER xxx

I sat in the conservatory this morning and watched the ROBIN in and out of the garage. Ros is keeping the bowl topped up with mealworms. I will get my camera ready to take a photo when I can.

Mel, that itching must be getting on your nerves. Have you tried any creams that might sooth it ??

All showered and dressed, will sit and read my book for a while. I hope Ros brings home GOOD NEWS !!!

Gillx

Gillx Report 1 Mar 2017 11:26

Good luck with the MOT Frank, hope the car passes with flying colours. The little Robin sounds like he's making himself at home, let's hope he stays there and then you'll see the babies, the mealworms should help. Pleased to hear you had a good undisturbed nights sleep.

Yes Sandra will be thrilled if she gets her snow, especially if there's enough to make a snowman. She wanted her dad to help her and he's off work tomorrow so that's lucky. I'm just keeping my fingers cross she gets enough. I haven't told her and I'm going to try and keep her away from the weather forecast on TV today so it'll be a nice surprise for her in the morning if it happens.

It sounds like Ruby is full of beans and having fun at yours Anne, she'll sleep well with all that running around. Sorry to hear about Richard, hope he starts feeling better soon, he must be exhausted if he can't sleep properly.

What's the blood test for Mel, is it to do with your itching? I would take the tablet sooner rather than later, it can only help, it must be driving you mad itching all the time. How's your mouth now, did you see a dentist in the end?

Pleased to see your finger is better Jane, I've managed to catch up with a few more posts. Sorry to hear about Chris though, I damaged my tendons in my knee years ago and thought I'd broken my leg it hurt so much. Hope it heals soon for him.

Did anyone watch Shannon Matthews what happened next last night? I recorded it as OH's friend was here looking at my laptop. Sandra and I are just about to watch it now. I recorded Broadchurch too and the Replacement which started last night, so plenty to keep us busy today.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Mar 2017 11:33

I hope she brings home good news too Frank. Its a worry when the car goes in for its MOT and you wait to see what you have to pay for now!

Had my blood test. Once again I was'nt letting the nurse find a vein so in the end she did it on the back of my hand. I had'nt taken any pills this morning and usually take asprin. I told her and she said you don't make my life easy for me so you?

Have taken them now and am going to have my first antihystamin. They are huge compared to the ones I have had before which were tiny little yellow things. This one is like a pale yellow bomb. Its gone down the hatch now so we will see how it affects me.

Frank Chris has cracked ribs.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Mar 2017 11:57

Morning All

I will be swift as Fitz is coming up soon with his Laptop as he is having problems with it and is hoping Chris might be able to help. Chris is not here at the moment though as he is still out on his walk. I have got a big Pizza out and added soem extra toppings ,so I can just pop that in the oven for a bit of lunch .

Hope Richard doesn't pass his nasty chesty cough on to you Anne. At least your bedrooms are far enough apart so you can have your beauty sleep :-D

Mel why haven't you still taken the antihistamine???? It will be ok I am sure with the Indegestion stuff. You can't keep scratching !!

Gill,I really really hope that you get enough snow for Sandra to make her snowman .I bey you are keeping an eye on the forecast :-D..She has waited soooooo long for snow.

Right must go now.I need to go and make the bed and tidy up my clothes that I seen have scattered all over the place.

Back Later

Frank

Frank Report 1 Mar 2017 12:25

She's back FAILED. It's the front coil spring. We had one replaced on the other side last year. It's all these BLOODY POT HOLES. I think we should send the bill to the Council. Got the car re-booked for next MONDAY (MORE EXPENSE) !!!!

I remember now that Chris has cracked ribs, they can take a long time to heal.

Just been down the garden (first time this year) to measure up for 6 panes of glass for the greenhouse and some Shiplap boarding that needs replacing on the shed. Trying to measure that wasn't easy, it's right by the pond, one slip and I would have been in the drink. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Ros has now gone off the get the glass cut and get more paint and the boards. so don't know when she will be back.

She will also call in at Tesco for bits we need, I told her ro get a couple of their Finest meals for tonight, to save me cooking.

Jane

Jane Report 1 Mar 2017 12:41

Frank I believe some people do charge the council for damage caused by some potholes. The roads are in a dreadful state and trying to miss all the big pot holes is a pretty dangerous business as you have to keep swerving.

Oh yes.Hannah said the Cat Emporium was so WEIRD.The staff were weird too. They were dressed in cat t shirts, aprons etc. The cats that were there were not really interested in the customers or having a bit of a fuss.Hannah reckons they must overwhelmed with people wanting to make a fuss and so they don't come up to you.
She bought Gareth a cat book about London Pub Cats.
She wouldn't bother going back again.

I think Fitz's car has just pulled in the drive.

Mel Fairy Godmother

I was just about to put the washing on the line and it started raining that fine stuff.

Jane I have taken the anti thing now with all my other pills. Hope you had a nice lunch and Chris helped Fitz with his laptop.

More washing in the machine now and I need to do some ironing as there is piles of it in the uti room.

Frank

Frank Report 1 Mar 2017 16:29

I have just blown my TOP at B & Q. Ros went in to purchase some wooden slats and more paint. First there was no-one to help put the wood into the cr. She had to lug it herself and load them SECOND. The paint she wanted is not on the shelf, and the only way she could get it was to order it WITH HOME DELIVERY. They won't get it in store for her to collect. The delivery charge is £5.00. which makes the paint BLOODY DEAR. I have threatened them with the National Press. Why call yourself a STORE when you can't buy what you want without extra cost.

Glad you have taken your pill Mel, lets hope you feel better tomorrow.

Jane If I thought I would get away with it. I would get the garage to give me a separate bill for the repair and send it off to the Council. But it would end up with me having a barny with someone at the Council. I don't want to put my BP any higher than it is at the moment. :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

Jane Report 1 Mar 2017 17:28

Fitz has just gone. We had a nice lunch.I got extra bread and cheese out. Fitz brought a quiche too so with that ,the Pizza and bread and cheese we are stuffed. No cooking tonight other than James's dinner.
Fitz was in good spirits as he has been away for a few days down to Somerset to his OH's Sister and family. They went to Lyme Regis and Portland(I think Portland). It did him good to get away and get a bit of good sea air and some lovely sunshine .He said they were sat out at a cafe and a Seagull swept down and snatched a whole sandwich off the plate from the lady on the next table.
Chris sorted his laptop and I got blood out of a shirt of his with some special stuff we have.So Fitz has gone home a happy chappy LOL

Hopefully now Mel you have taken your antihistamine tab you will feel the benefit .
I need to get my washing in as it will start geting damp now if I leave it out any longer.

Mel I remember the Ip Dip one but ours went Ip Dip your'e sh** I'm not, you are it.
Yes Ibble Bobble Black Bobble .There must have been many more like that . All done in the playground at primary school
Happy Days :-D I am trying to remember the skipping rope rhyme . Two girls would hold and turn the rope and gradually more would jump in.Sometimes it would be a double rope.
In the early sixties we had a 2 level bar thing in the playground where you could hang upside down from or do roll overs on
I had dreadful bruises on my tummy from hanging over these bars :-S.I think we called them Monkey Bars .
Thomas has just eaten a mouse. That is probably his desert :-S

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Mar 2017 17:47

Well now Frank I think you need to take a deep breath and count to ten to calm yourself down. I know it is frustrating when you go for things you need and they don't have them in stock. Is there not another shop Ros could go to for the paint? Shame the car needs something to make it healthy again. Such a nusience (sp) when something like that goes. I had that on my old Rover.

We have signs up around here saying that certain roads will be close for a couple of days, three lots actually so perhaps some of our sink hole will be done then. The roads here are absolutely awful with all the heavy lorries going to farms and the tractors. There is a big rut just on the bend in the village opposite the school and your tyres get stuck in and run along as if its a train you're driving and not a car. I think I know most of the potholes on the way to Bideford too.

I have been in the garden and cut down the old climbing rose ready for this years one flowering. It is Albertine and smells quite nice. Also cut down the clematis just where we go down the steps to the garden from the back door. Its a Jackmanii and should be cut down in Feb to 18 inches.

Going to make a cuppa now.

Evening all

It's been another lovely day here we were out in the garden all morning and sat and had our coffee in the warm sunshine .

Oh Gill i'll keep everything crossed for you hoping you get the snow , i'd love to Sandra's face if she wakes up to a garden covered in snow :-D it would really make her day wouldn't it .

I'm still doing things when Max is asleep Anne ,he's gradually getting better but he's a little devil when i hoover ,if i pull the pipe out of the hoover to get into the corners he goes mad ,barking at the pipe and trying to get it :-D

There's several skipping rhymes Jane
Granny was in the kitchen
doing a bit of stitching
(one girl skipping)
When in came a bogie man
and pushed her out
(second girl joins in skipping and replaces first by pushing her out)

And
1, 2, 3, my mother caught a flea,
She put it in the teapot and made a cup of tea,
The flea jumped out,
My mother gave a shout,
And in came a bobby with his shirt hanging out.

And
The farmer's in his den,the farmer's in his den
ee aye addy oh the farmers in his den
followed by
the farmer wants a wife
the wife wants a child
etc. etc. with chorus and another child coming into skipping game in each verse.

And this one
All in together girls
This fine weather girls
When it is your birthday, please run out
January
February
March
etc

So the Cat Emporium wasn't much fun then , i expect the cats have seen so many people they just don't want to be touched any more .

That's not on Frank you would have thought there would have been some one to help Ros get the stuff in the car , they soon take your money !!

Hope after taking the tablets the itching soon stops Mel , i know what you mean with those ruts in the road if you get the tyre in one it seems to take you along with it , it must be awful for any one riding a bike and getting the tyre in it ,enough to have you over the handlebars !!

Gillx Report 1 Mar 2017 19:00

Do you have a Rightway near you Frank, if it's anything like ours they sell the same paint as B&Q and a lot cheaper too. It's something to think about for the future. I don't blame you for getting upset, poor Ros struggling on her own and then having to pay a delivery charge just because they couldn't be bothered to have it delivered to the store. How much does it cost in petrol to get there, if it's around the same price as the delivery charge then at least that's something, but of course not the point. Sorry to hear your car didn't pass it's MOT.

Morning all

Very wet here but no snow for Sandra :-( I'm so glad I didn't tell her. I think the sun is trying to make an appearance. My garden is water logged with all the rain we've had in the night and still having. The weather forecast this morning said it was going to brighten up later.

I've woken up with a tickly cough which is driving me nuts and yet another ear ache. I think the ear ache is down to the cold though as it only plays up when the weather is colder.

One of the messages I had yesterday was a reply to one I sent TWO YEARS AGO, she asked if I still wanted to see her tree which I said yes to, she read my reply but hasn't, so far, given me access to her tree. I hope she does soon as I'm almost finished going through all the other trees I've been given access to.

Before going to bed last night I noticed that some more of my family went over to Australia, so I'll be checking that out today.

Going to get a cuppa first. What is everyone else up to today?

Morning all,

Gill I am sitting here itching thats seems to be what I am up to today. The suns shining its little head off and oh has been out and done all his filters for the pond. He still has'nt filled my washer bottle on the car which I have been asking him to do for well over a week. I can't get the cap off or I'd do it myself.

I still have piles of ironing to do and at least two lots of washing. Must get one oot on or it will be raining by the time its ready to go out.

Frank

Frank Report 2 Mar 2017 11:05

Morning all, Evening Kim,

We had the paint delivered this morning ONE BIG BOX, When you opened that there were TWO MORE BoX'S. When you opened them there were two moulded protectors top and bottom in the box, with the paint tin in between. GAWD knows how much that must have cost in packaging Now of course we have the problem of breaking down the box's and disposing of them. They will half fill our bin, which is almost full anyway. !!! No we don't have one of those stores near us.

Sorry you never got the snow last night Gill. I was going to watch the match down the pub. I am so glad I didn't bother as the rain here was unbelievable. I sat in the conservatory to watch the match, and could hardly hear the commentary over the noise of the rain.

I got it wrong (AGAIN) about Ros's water works. She has to measure her intake and output THREE DAYS AND NIGHTS, every other week. She does Fri/Sunday.

I forgot my injection was last Friday, that's two months running. I must ring to apologise. I will ask WHY my body needs Testosterone. Will nurse Jane know ??? As I am getting fed up with the injection every month.

Poor you Mel, this itching must be getting you down by now xxx

Mandy our local B & Q has gone to the dogs. They have hardly any staff to help in store let alone in the YARD/ car park. I think it's disgusting that a woman in her 70s has to LUG packs of wood from the display, put it on the trolly and then to load it into her car. It was as much as I could do, to get it out at this end. I am still waiting to hear from them re:- My Email. I am sending a letter to the SUN later today also. I will not settle until I see this through. !!!! :-| :-| :-| :-P :-P :-P ;-) ;-) ;-)

Chicken Casserole for tonights dinner. Dos is at Stitchery Do so I will prepare the dinner later.

I remember hearing my sisters and friends singing those SKIPPING songs. over 70 years ago. Who says the grey matter in dead ;-) ;-) ;-)

Still looking for flights, but Jan told Ros that one of the bedrooms at Conrad's place is permanently un-inhabitable, due to the amount of MOULD in there. So it looks like we will need to find accomodation as well. So I am thinking of giving it a miss this year and take a coach trip to Yorkshire instead. We will sit and chat about that later.
