Frank Report 5 Mar 2017 13:06

Afternoon all,

Been raining here as well Jane, but now the sun is out SO IS ROS. Two more panels and the sheds to do. I don't know if she will finish today, I doubt it. ;-) ;-)

I can't see into the Robins nest as it's to high. The mealworms have been having a seeing too, so they must be busy, still getting nesting materials.

Ros has a Steam Iron Generator. She swears by it. It gets all creases out of anything with a puff of steam. It sits in it's box in the porch coat store, with the vacuum cleaners and other odds and sods. So doesn't take up a lot of space,

I always cook with a little salt, so we don't tend to put it on our food. I know some people don't use it at all. I find the veg is a little bland with out any at all.

I have tightened the kitchen mixer tap this morning as there seems to be a bit of water seeping around the neck. I have also mended the Extractor over the hob, the clip kept coming undone. So that's all fixed now.

Jane I can honestly say I have only ever had one pizza in my life in a restaurant, likewise only one Mc D. and Kentucky Fried Chicken. I just can't get to like them. I know Ros likes a Chicken Mc D when she goes out with Lewis, but that hasn't happened in a long time.

I have been very naughty. I didn't have breakfast yesterday, and only a prawn roll and salad at lunchtime. I didn't eat last night, and haven't eaten today. I just don't feel hungry. I will cook the Beef and trimmings this afternoon about 5.00 pm, but I bet I only pick around it. Dos wants me to go to the Doctor, as she thinks there must be something wrong. But I feel fine in myself apart from feeling tired and aching.

Gill if you have a clay undersoil all you can do is add loads of SAND and well rotted Manure to it, and dig it in well. I had the same trouble with my first house. I was lucky that a Mushroom farm close by delivered lorry loads of spent soil that was no further use to them. It did the trick and I ended up with great soil, that grew everything.

Our mint in the Belfast Sink has died right back. I have ordered six new plants this morning. They should be here next week. I will then replenish the soil are replant ready for when we start having New Potato's. You just can't have new Pots without mint also LAMB.

Clouds are starting to come over again. MADAM won't be pleased if the SKY starts to CRY again :-( :-( :-(

See you all later in the day/evening.

Afternoon all,

Been raining here too ,it did brighten up for a while but it's now coming down again.

Not a lot happening here today we're having a lazy day ,still got some cold beef in the fridge so we'll have some of that with naughty but nice chips tonight .

That's bad putting salt on the toast not everyone wants salt on their food ,i put salt in my veg but put very little on my food on the plate .

Hope the itching is a little better today Mel .

I find the mint plants only last so long and then they get woody and dead ,i think i'am going to have a nice herb box this year ,how is your doing Jane ?
That mushroom compost is good stuff ,it seems to smother the weeds and the plants do so well after a good digging in.

Brightened up here again now .

Afternoon all

We've had SNOW Sandra was thrilled and filmed it. I was up first this morning and it was raining, then we had a bit of snow mixed with the rain, then the snow on it's own. It was 10am so I woke Sandra up, by the time she got into the living room it was coming down quite thick she got so excited she made me wake her dad up to see it. Unfortunately it's so wet outside it didn't stick and after about half an hour it stopped altogether so Sandra was a bit disappointed about that. It's starting to brighten up a bit but we have had a few small showers over the last few hours.

Chips and cold beef sound nice Mandy, we sometimes have cold meat and chips with a little Branston pickle........lovely.

You're probably feeling tired because you aren't eating properly Frank. Try some toast that's light and will put a lining on your stomach. You'll make yourself ill if you don't eat. Do you like milk? A glass of milk would do you some good if you can't manage food. What a shame you can't see the Robin's nest, but in a way that's good as she'll feel safer if she can't be seen. You'll soon know if there are babies in there as you'll hear them soon enough.

Yes, Frank we will have to put some sand in. What type of sand do we need to use? I believe there is one that's good for drainage but I'm not sure if it was builders sand or something else. Maybe sharp sand, or is that the same as builders sand? We put lots of soil down last year so the sand mixed in with that should help the flooding problem....well, I hope so anyway.

I've finally finished my tree, so have made a start on some HW and washing. I just need to do some dusting this afternoon and clean the bathroom and kitchen then we'll be spick and span for a while.

I might catch up on some of my programmes I've recorded, I think I still have last weeks Call the Midwife to watch before it comes back on tonight. Sandra is watching a film she recorded for herself in the other room until her lunch is ready and OH is relaxing on the sofa, which makes a nice change from him working all the time.

We still haven't fixed the screening between us and Mr Meldrew as the weather isn't right, plus we don't fancy him complaining again, so we'll just enjoy the peace and quiet for a day instead. It's not going anywhere so can be fixed another day.

Better go and check the roast see you all later.

Sitting here after our breakfast and I had turned the heating off but suddenly felt cold and the winds up and the door to the exracter fan keeps blowing open. I turned the heating on and oh shut the door to the fan went into the hall to go to his study and the front door was open. Its like an ice box up the rest of the bungalow.

I'm still itching. Have taken some antihists but I think they make me a bit dozey.

I was going to clean the chickens out this afternoon but with all this wind I don't want to go out there.

What a shame you had the rain first Gill if the ground had been dry the snow might have laid for a while but i bet Sandra was so excited to see the snow at last ,she has been waiting so long bless her.

Who left the door open then Mel? Or did the wind blow it open ? hope you're a bit warmer now it takes a while to warm up again.

Well we had a little sun for a while and it has kept dry but the clouds seem to be building up again now.

Jane Report 5 Mar 2017 17:12

Blooming cold here too now.I have lit he fire and the heating is on.Thomas went out a few minutes ago and it started raining again so he is back in .

Oh SNOW Gill :-D :-D.At last .I am so pleased for Sandra ,even if it hasn't lasted for her to make her Snowman.I can just picture how excited she must have been to see it falling :-D :-D. I think we might have actuallt had a bit of sleet in the rain this morning.

Frank,I was going to say the same as Gill. You could be feeling tired all the time simply because you are not having enough to eat.It seems to be since you had your knee done that your appetite has disappeared.Do you like soups? Those Big Soup tins (bit like a meal in tin) might be a good option. We can't have you fading away.

Mel ,what antihistamines are you on?.Some can make you feel quite drowsy. I have Piriteze (one a day).I always had Zirtec before but I can't find them any longer.
I was itching earlier and then realised that the Daffs in the vase were giving off a smell .So I have moved them out of the room now.I never used to have all this trouble with flowers :-S

Mandy my Herb Box is all dead now and everything will need replacing .It did look lovely when everything was growing nicely. A lot of the leaves have gone black and a lot of the stems all woody. It actually looks a bl***y mess :-|.The only herb I can pick is the Rosemary which is down the garden and Bay Leaves off the tree.

Frank, the only time I might ever get to have a McDonalds is with my Sister if we are travelling and stop at a service station on the motorway.I thin kthe last time must have been several year ago now. Chris woudn't dream of having one . KFC. I think I had a Chicken Fillet and chips with Fitz in his car after we had been to the cinema one day .He often goes through the drivethru for a bit of chicken :-D..He says he just can't help himself LOL
Chris and I will go to the Pizza Express in Northampton before we see a film at the Errol Flyn Cinema or theatre. Actually this coming thursday we are going to the Matinee at The Royal to see 'A Passionate Woman' so will be having a visit to Pizza Express :-D

I was in Tesco this morning and had been to the pharmacy bit before getting food.I was waiting for my shopping to go through on the conveyer belt at the till when I heard my name come over the Tannoy asking me to go to Customer Service Desk. What a shock !!!. So I left all my goods and explained to the man on the till that that was me called. I had only gone and left my bank card in the machine at the Pharmacy! That was perfect timing as it would have been a bit emarrasing to find my card wasn't in my purse to pay for the shopping. I am geting as daft as a BAT :-S
I had been at the Pharmacy to get what Mel has. Doublebase .The Marshmallow looking lotion .I am erupting with horrible eczema patches .The worst one is on the bottom of one of my feet :-S..What is causing this gawd knows. But not amusing :-P

I think I have just seen a Jay fly off the window feeder !!!!

Chris is hoping to go on one of his walks tomorrow. I need to make an appointment with Spec Savers as I am well over the yearly check, and I do feel my sight has changed a bit which is why I might feel a bit dizzy sometimes with these specs :-S

Just had a message from Janice. They are having a lovely time.Antigua today.I think St Kitts tomorrow. She sounds very chilled out :-D :-D

I can hear the front door,so James must be back from Jess. Call the Midwife tonight.
Chris will have the tisssues out !

Gillx Report 5 Mar 2017 19:58

How come the door was open Mel? I bet it was freezing indoors, I'm sure it warmed up once the door was shut. Hope the wind has died down for you now.

So you need to go to spec savers Jane. I thought my eyes were getting worse but when I had them tested she said they were the same so that was good. She said it was probably tiredness causing some blurred vision I had at the time. Hope the weather is nice for Chris to have his walk. Fancy leaving your bank card in the machine.......what are you like LOL, Like you said the timing was just right when they called you. How embarrassing would that of been otherwise.

We had next door's son round earlier wanting to know when OH was fixing the fence as his dad wanted his son to do it and he didn't want to. He was very polite and understanding when OH said he couldn't do it until he had some time off work and the weather was better. It was pouring with rain at the time. His son seemed okay with that, not that he could do anything about it. We wouldn't mind but it's only leaning over his side slightly, it's not like it's falling down and of course we're going to fix it at some point. We did noticed that it's been pushed back our way a bit, so his son must of had a go at straightening it up. We think it'll need supporting on his side as we can't get to the fence behind the screening from our side, then once the support goes in the middle we can screw some wood to the bungalow to keep it in place as Storm Doris ripped the screws and wall plugs out of the wall, you can see big scratches as the screws have scrapped along the wall when it moved. It's not dangerous, just a bit untidy, so we're pleased that they are willing to wait until the weather improves. I did feel sorry for our neighbour as his brother passed away last week, so that might explain why he's been a bit grumpier lately.

Just watching The Jump at the moment, we quite like that programme, Sandra likes all the snow :-) ;-)

Morning all, Evening Kim,
Nice bright SUNNY day here. Ros has just taken the car for the Spring to be replaced. They will ring when it's ready and bring it back. She will take the driver back. She has just told me to get a big coat on and go for a walk. I might do it later I will see how I feel.

Who do you think is out painting again ??

Snow for andra, how nice. Pity it didn't settle for her to make her snowman :-( :-(

We had lots of rain and wind yesterday afternoon, I just didn't seem to be able to get warm, even with the fire and heating on.

Not a brilliant nights sleep again, Nothing on Tele so I went to bed at 10.00 pm Had the radio on for a while. Settled down , Madam disturbed me when she came in at 1,15 am. I laid awake till well after 3.00 am. Was thinking of getting up, when I must have dropped off.

Gill you want to get SHARPE SAND. The builders sand is too fine and will just wash away. I hope your OH can get that fence done to get the old Bas@@@d off your case. Why can't he do it him self ???

I don't use a lot of herbs in cooking, apart from a bit of Garlic and Rosemary sprinkled over the roast potatoes. and Garlic in my CHEESE SAUCE !!!

I saw a young teenager implying that they shouldn't have to be taxed so heavy to support us OAPs, Saucy COW. We paid into the system for 50 years plus, so we are entitled to our pension.

I had a couple of bottles of J2Os last night. quite nice.

Didn't finish my dinner yesterday afternoon, and only had a slice of toast this morning. What was that TONIC our parents had when they needed a pickup, was it SERNATOGEN or something like that. ???

One of Ros's aunts is 89 tomorrow, she has sent a card, that should have arrived this morning.

Not sure what to do with the cold beef tonight, I might do it with Potatoes and onion in gravy with various veg. I just hope I am hungry enough to eat it.

West Ham play Chelsea tonight at 8.00 pm so you know where I will be. !!!!

Emm just came to the door to pay me for the eggs for the last two weeks as I had'nt seen them as they were out when I called with the egs so I leave them by the door.

Still itching...................................................................but the spots seem to look a little better.

Frank Report 6 Mar 2017 12:23

Well I have been right round the village for an hours walk. I stopped by the bus stop for a rest. I feel totally Bugg@@ed now. It is quite chilly out there even with a scarf and gloves and a big coat.

Just seen "PADDY" He has taken an eyesore of a bush out of Tony's front garden. It will give us a better view from our lounge window. As you can assume it was never trimmed and just had horrible patches of green sticking out every where.

Poor old you Mel, you must be fed up to the teeth with this itching. xxx

I can see Ros has almost finished the fence at the bottom of the garden, it does look nice. Why it has taken so long I don't know, she must be skiving behind the greenhouse where I can't see her LOL LOL.

Tin of soup time, and see about dinner for tonight.

I had a Heinz BIG SOUP. Beef and veg with a slice of bread. Dinner all ready for tonight, so I can sit and relax. I called down the garden to see if Ros wanted anything, but she doesn't.

Sun still shining, it's very warm in the conservatory. So might sit out there with my book for a while.

Hope you have all got done, what you needed to get done on this fine day,

Might see you later.

Chicken for dinner tonight cooked in the oven with a tin of tomatoes and sweetcorn and rice for him.

Em called in this morning to bring the egg boxes back and pay me for th eones she has had when she was'nt in.

Good the fence is nearly done now Frank. Good on Ros for her hard work.

Is Paddy a rellie of next door or just a gardening bloke?

Enjoy your sunshine if you have it as our is intermitant and there's a very cutting wind today.

Think I will do the chickens before the ironing so see you all later after I have had a scratch. :-S

Gillx Report 6 Mar 2017 16:40

Afternoon all

Been busy in the garden all day moving all the pots out of the way of the fence/screening, the sun has been kind to us today. We called round next door and knocked on his door several times but he didn't answer. While I was in the back garden I heard him bringing his bin in so called over the fence, to which he said WHAT DO YOU WANT talk about rude. Anyway I said that we'd need to go round to his to see what could be done with the fence so he agreed and we went round. Well, it's not going to move anywhere apart from near his kitchen window and would he let us put a piece of wood there to stop it moving, would he heck as like......the awkward so and so. In the end I had to say we would take it all down and put in a new fence, but looking at his side he has a small brick wall lots of concrete posts that the fence goes inside and a patio. Last year we took out some large conifers that formed part of a hedge and most of the big roots are still in the ground, plus we have a patio this side too and of course there are the drains either side of the fence, so we won't be able to dig down to put in new fence posts, the best we can do is put up a piece of wood that he didn't want us to do and put a fence post in the middle screwed to the floor rather than dug in which will support the middle. He won't like it, but what can we do if we can't dig down to put in new posts. Basically none of us have a choice as it's the only way it can be fixed........Ok rant over :-) :-) :-)

Thanks Frank for letting me know which sand to use. Our lawn is absolutely soaked at the moment so we'll have to do something to sort the garden out before we end up with just a massive swimming pool. So the fences are looking good now, Ros is such a hard worker isn't she, you must be so proud of her?

Sorry to hear you're still scratching Mel, it does sound like it's starting to get better if the spots are starting to heal, maybe some of the itching is down to the healing now, if you get what I mean?

Going to get a cuppa then something to eat, I haven't had anything all day. I'm absolutely shattered as I didn't sleep very well last night for some reason, so it'll be an early night for me tonight. At least the garden looks a bit tidier now. :-D

What an irritating rude neighbour Gill.He will just have to put up with whatever you decide to do and just lump it.Does he have any friends??? LOL

Nice clear drains again Mel :-D.Thats good. Maybe if your little spots are looking smaller now maybe the itch will start to ease up.Lets hope so.

I am glad you had the BigSoup Meal Frank. That would have done you good.Maybe the long walk gave you a bit of an appetite :-D. I wish I had no appetite.I could do with not eating :-D.

It has been a lovely day ,but by gum it is cold. I haven't felt warm all day. Chris says I need to put something thicker on.But the trouble then is that I will be too hot :-S

I went to the Vets this afternoon to get worm and flea treatment and on the counter was one of these Church Candles with a battery, and beside that a notice(in a lovely frame) to say thatwhen the Candle is lit it means that there is someone at that time saying goodbye to their beloved pet :-( and to ask people in the waiting room to understand this and respect the sad situation.
I thought that this was a lovely idea ,but it almost made me cry just to see it !
As I was waiting to pay Nickolas(the Greek Vet) brought some chocolates through for the girls as it was his Birthday and I had one too :-D.Then he went off and I heard staff singing Happy Birthday to him :-D :-D. He is such a lovely man .Mad as a box of Frogs but one of the nicest Vets I have ever seen .He was the one who saw Thomas when itook him in after his accident. He said in hs wonderful Greek accent that Thomas was the most handsome Kitty and he could just eat him LOLOL

Oven on now .I might go and stand beside it to get warm.I don't know why I feel so cold.
Broadchurch tonight :-D

Annx Report 6 Mar 2017 17:41

Afternoon All,

Sunny earlier but dull now! My knees are taking a while to recover this time so I haven't been able to walk far since last Wednesday. A trudge round M&S yesterday was enough for them as they started to ache then. If I sit for long they seem to stiffen up and if I walk much they ache!! :-S I haven't been able to do much at home either.....you seem to need your knees for everything. They have improved though so I will just have to not overdo it and keep doing the strengthening exercise for now.

Jane what are you like.......I can just imagine the cold sweat when you realised you had left your card behind. At least you didn't have the faff with getting a new card though. Janice and Larry sound like they are having a great time and well earned rest.

Mel, the eggs were done in water so that may have been a bit salty as you say, but you could feel the crystals of salt really strong on your tongue in places on the toast so I think there was a sprinkle of it as well. Sorry you are still itching and it must be affecting your sleep a lot. I was surprised you were having alcohol as my doctor specifically asked me and said not to when I went on the beta blocker. Something to do with it increasing the action of the beta blocker to lower blood pressure?

I've had a busy day. I had a text from the garage yesterday to say my car needed a manufacturer's upgrade. The trouble was the car Reg they put wasn't mine! I thought they'd either got the wrong car or the wrong owner so thought I'd contact the garage. Before I did I realised the reg no looked like OH's Citroen, so I asked him and it was!! When I rang my Peugeot garage they said there was nothing for my car and that the contact was from their Coventry booking centre. They gave me a number for Citroen to ring, which I did and got cut off and had to ring again and it turned out that there are 2 manufacturer's upgrades needed for OH's car, but they hadn't been the ones that had texted me?? Anyway it is booked in to be done next week now and gawd knows why OH wasn't notified about either upgrade. :-S

Then I got a dodgy email, very convincing and purporting to be from talktalk saying they couldn't process our last payment due to the card used needing updating. I did click to where it said to log on to my account, but didn't log on and decided to go to the website seperately instead and see if any payment problem showed there......it didn't! A quick google showed that this is a new scam, so to be on the safe side I spoke to the fraud people at my bank and they said there wouldn't be a problem as I hadn't given out any info. Don't you have to be on your toes nowadays!

Gill what a pain you have living next door. His son sounds quite reasonable as well. I'd be tempted to string a bit of wire across and see how he likes that, but that wouldn't be what you want your side!! What about using those metaposts you just hammer in like the rotary dryer bases? We have some of those and they haven't moved an inch. I'm glad Sandra got to film a bit of snow, even if it didn't last.

Thanks Frank for mentioning about Ros having one of those irons. I think we will go and have a look at some. She's done really well with the fence and it doesn't half spruce up the garden when the fences are painted.

Thanks for the reminder about Broadchurch Jane, I thought it was really good last week. :-) I like the odd pizza. We have been to Pizza Hut one or two times. We are hoping to see the film Viceroy? this week when my knees have had another day or two to improve.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 Mar 2017 18:23

That film Viceroy reminded me of that tv program that was on last year about India. Can't think of the name of it right now.

Your neighbour sounds like one of those neighbours from hell Gill. Silly old fool if he wants you to do the fence then he should let you do iot!! not muck you about like he is.

Must get the dinner on or it won't be cooked.

Looking forward to Broadchurch tonight too........ :-D
