Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 Mar 2017 16:21

No sun here at all today after all.

I took 47 pictures yesterday and now I have to send them to Vron the village hall lady.

Afternoon All

That was a good cheap visit then to the opticians today Frank :-D..Make sure you don't miss that hospital appointment. When is that?

Mel I hope the field isn't too churned up with all those tractorsMy word you took a lot of pics !!.

It has been a lovely day and so warm in the sunshine. It was nice to sit out for a while and have a coffee.

Anne that will help use up some of Ruby's energy .I bet she loves chasing and bringing back the ball :-D.I remember my neighbours Collie would do that for hours. She would bring the ball back, drop it at my feet and then stare at it until I picked it .She would then run before I even threw the ball.Typical sheepdog :-D.

I kept Thomas in all day and night and today he is not limping like yesterday .But he can obviously still feel something as he will hold his paw up when he sits down. I let him go off down the garden and he disappeared for a couple of hours but is back now out for the count. He isn't eating much but I'm not worried about that. I am pretty sure that he has just pulled his shoulder. So keeping an eye on him I think is fine for now.

Not a good job done then Anne on your guttering and downpipe.I hope it isn't Manuel who comes to have another go :-D :-D.
Our Plumber was here when I got back from Asda just now.He was only dropping in his bill, but Chris saw him and called him in to say what the British Gas man had said.
Cutting it short.Overflow STILL going.Tony rang the manufactures of the Cylinder and went through everything with them.New something to be fitted ...watch this space !

When I came out from Asda I was just putting the shopping in the boot and a young girl came over and said that the car parked next to me had bumped mine. The chap only looked at his and not mine.So she waited for me and gave me her name and number just in case I needed a witness. How good of her to do that :-D..Luckily all I can see is a bit of a scrape on the front bumper. She said my car rocked !! She was on the phone to her boyfriend when she saw it happen and asked him what she should do .It was him who I think said to wait until I came back to my car. Nice to think that there are still folk who care :-D :-D

I am doing something different tonight for dinner. It is a Cheddar and Mustard whole roasted Cauliflower !.It has spring onions and chives too.I won't tell chris about the double cream and butter LOL. It looks pretty rich and filling so I don't think I need anything else other than a few more veg .

Janice sent me a couple of pics from the cruise.I think they are enjoying every minute of their holiday. All except for one day when it was rough sea and Larry had to have an injection in his bum to stop him being sick. I think they are on the way to the Azores now.

Annx Report 13 Mar 2017 19:51

Evening All,

I hope Thomas hasn't done too much damage to his leg.....there's nothing like a thorn in his paw is there Jane? I expect you've already looked though. I bet it will be a shock for J & L to come home after all that leisureliness on the cruise. That injection doesn't sound nice, but neither do the rough seas!! It's what puts me off cruises. :-S The photos were lovely Jane, nice enough to frame as others have said. Is your hair a tad lighter than your avatar now? It looks nice though and suits you. :-)

How lovely little Ruby has learnt to fetch a ball Anne. She must be a bright little thing and will be wanting to play that again and again now. :-)

Well done winning a tenner Mel. We haven't won anything on the lottery for years now, but have won free goes the last 2 weeks. Don't spend it all at once! I get a dry mouth too with antihistamines.

I bet Max thought it was Christmas again with the childrens' toys Mandy. It's a good job he didn't sneak off and hide any.

That's good your specs will be cheaper now Frank. I see there's no keeping Ros from her lovely garden!

Oh dear Gill, what a shame about your car. I thought it wasn't going to cost much to repair? It might still be worth it if the car is in good shape otherwise. The neighbour's car sounds like it might be a good buy though.

I rang the agent about our holiday this morning. We decided yesterday that to save OH having to get cover etc for a different week, we would try to go in September instead. We don't want to go in the peak season when it's busy everywhere anyway and neither of us like it too hot (mostly already booked and costing up to £1800 for a week as well!!). The website showed 3 weeks available in September for the lodge we always book, but the the earliest week that we would have preferred was over £100 more than we'd already paid and the next 2 weeks cheaper than we'd paid. After hanging on the phone for ages I got through and explained our misgivings about the work that would be going on and how unpredictable it all might be and suggested the preferred week in September, but bit the bullet and asked if there could be some movement on the price in view of the fact that the circumstances for the change were not of our doing! She said she would have to speak to someone and when she came back she said she'd spoken to the owner who had said straightaway, 'is it Ann and G' and when she'd said yes he said ' just swap the weeks no extra charge'. :-D If you don't ask you don't get do you?

Jane

Jane Report 13 Mar 2017 20:33

Ann,I think I look quite different now from my Avatar ..Several years older !!! But yes i do think my hair is probably a bit lighter. You will see on the 21st :-D
That is great you can change your holiday dates with no extra charge. Shame yo have to wait though until September. Will you have somewhere else in mind to have a bit of a break before then?

Gill ,it would be good for you if the car next door is right for you.You don't want to be without one. .

Not sure about this blooming Cauliflower dish . The timer went off and it is still as hard as a rock :-S..I think it might me one dish I won't be doing again. I am giving it 10 more minutes in the oven. Just hope we eat before Broadchurch starts !

I will make sure I leave Thomas downstairs tonight . Last night was ridiculous . I thought it best I went in Hannah's bed and had him with me. Fine to start off ,he snuggled down at the bottom of the bed.But as the night went on he got further and further up the bed so he was almost on my pillows. He was up and down like a yoyo .I need a good sleep tonight :-)
Time now to test this Cauliflower dish....Smells good with all the cheese. But might be as hard as a board.

Frank Report 14 Mar 2017 10:56

FIRST. Good morning all, Evening Kim,

Pleasant sort of morning here, hight fluffy clouds with very little breeze.

I haven't received any pictures, (out of sight out of mind) lol lol.

I have been looking for the Robin this morning. He hasn't shown yet. Will have to ask Pam if she has seen him.

Jane my Hospital eye appointment is sometime in April. Dos has it on the calendar .

Ros bought two coloured plastic pots from Morrison's £5.00 each. Just what she needs to transfer some plants.

Slept like a log last night, 10.30 - 5.30. then till 8.15. felt as weak as a kitten when I first got up, but after three COT and toast I am more alive, I THINK. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Spoke to Carolyn this morning, she is looking forward to getting home on Thursday. Dos is getting bread, milk and bits for her. She will leave them in the back porch.

What are you all up to today. ?? Madam is already in the garden. So I know where she is <3 <3 <3. I will see if I can be of any help, I already know the ANSWER. So it will be a waste of time asking.

Morning all

A bit cloudy today but the sun is trying it's best to shine through.

Well, that's the car sorted, we have a nice new one now and the old one was scrapped this morning, they even paid us to take it away.....bonus. We weren't expecting that, but apparently there's money to make in scrap metal so the scrap man buys the car off you. We've sent the relevant paperwork to the DVLA so we're all sorted now. OH has booked the new car in for a service next Tuesday and it's got six months MOT on it so that's something we don't need to worry about for a while. Also it worked to our advantage as we taxed it before April so we won't have to pay the new price until next year so that saved us a few bob too. All in all a good 24 hours ;-) ;-)

I haven't read any of the posts yet, Sandra has got a film on pause so I'm going to watch that with her first and catch up with a couple of soaps from last night before they are back on again. She wants to watch the voice later so I'll catch up with the post then. Hope everyone is fit and well.

Love the photo's Ann, you are good at taking them. Sandra loved the one of the duck.

See you all later :-)

Frank

Frank Report 14 Mar 2017 12:22

What car have you got Gill ?? and how old is it. There is always value in scrap metal of any kind. That's why you see these people searching skips for any bits. There are some BAST@@@s that go to Cemetery's and pinch plaques off of graves. Their hands should fall off !!!

Well staying dry, and not cold. Ros is trying to transplant a shrub. The roots have gone through the drain holes in the pot and rooted in the gravel underneath. She is having to cut the pot apart to get it out. I told het to cut the root ball that's sticking out of the bottom, but she said it might kill it. !!! So keep your nose out FRANKIE BOY ;-) ;-) ;-)

I have to move a very large pot from outside the conservatory to the bottom of the garden, when she decides where she wants it. That will be a job and half getting it through the arch and down the lawn. I bet the wheels will stick in the lawn as it is so heavy. So onwards and upwards as they say !!!

Cold pork, chips and coleslaw for Ros, I will have Branston Pickle. tonight. Meat all sliced and chips done. So nice easy tea/dinner tonight.

You are no doubt wondering how I am on here when I have been so absent for quite a while. I don't forget any of you but I seem to get less and less time these days.
The not-so-good news is that Carmel fell in her bedroom when getting red to go to bed and has fractured her right hip. She was up late and I had gone to bed so her screams woke me about 12.45am and I could do nothing but ring for an ambulance. A crew of three arrived and as she was trapped between the bed and the radiator on the far wall they had such a job to get her up onto the bed for assessment due to all the pain she was in. She was hooked, given pain relief, we were asked a million questions but they were all so wonderfull. It took another ambulance with a crew of 2 to get her down the stairs and into the ambulance to go to our local A & E. We got there at 2.30am and I stayed till 6am when I came home to get some sleep. By then shed had an X Ray to confirm the break but the suspected knee and foot fractures proved to be OK, just pain caused by the hi/ nerves.
I was back at 11am with her toiletries etc and she was on a ward and surgery booked to put a plate in later today, the anaesthetist was round before I left and the will be putting her out as she doesn't want an epidural. I shall be going up later this evening with daughter Dorothy and will let you all know what the situation is tomorrow.
Sorry to be such a party pooper and I know at times like these where my friends are. Bless you all. Hope I haven't made any mistakes but my eyes fill like they are on fire !

Gillx Report 14 Mar 2017 16:03

Oh William, so sorry to hear about Carmel, send her our wishes, hope she is home with you soon. Take care of yourself too.

That was good of the owners to change the date of your holiday for no extra charge Ann. You can look forward to it now without worrying about the noise and dirt :-)

We bought a Citroen Frank, from Mr Grumpy next door, needless to say he was in a much better mood when we handed over the money......harmony restored me thinks LOL ;-) ;-) I'm not sure how old it is, but it's not new. It's much better than the one we had so we're happy.

Pleased to hear Thomas is on the mend Jane and also finally having all your plumbing problems sorted, hopefully that won't take to much longer then your cylinder will be working better for you.

Shopping day again Mel, don't they come round quickly? I don't know where the weeks are going, summer will be here soon :-)

So much for Sandra watching her programme, there are so many on the main TV she wants to watch we're still plodding through them. OH has gone to his mates to show off his new car :-D

Jane Report 14 Mar 2017 17:42

Afternoon All
Oh William!!!.Poor Carmel.what a dreadful ordeal falling and getting stuck like that and then finding out she has fractured her hip.You must have been at your wits end not being able to get to her. I t sounds as though you had wonderful service from the Ambulance Crews. They are wonderful. I bet you feel like you have been through the wringer now.Hopefully when you visit tonight the op will have been done and she is not in too much pain. Sending lots of love to you both <3 <3

It sounds like you have done well with the new car Gill :-D.Yes what car is it? good mileage on it too .A little bonus too getting a bit of money for Scrap. When James got rid of his old one I think he got £100 which was more than he really expected.

I didn't get Ann's pics either .But have seen them on FB and they are really great.I loved the trees and the reflection in the water of the Duck :-D

Yes Frank ,don't go interfering with Ros's gardening LOL You don't want to be falling out and having to buy more flowers :-D :-D

Thomas seems fine now. although I don't think he has been too far. Maybe I shouldn't have said that as he has just gone off.So fingers crossed he is back again before too long.
Chris has been out to lunch today,so not eating tonight. I am going to have a couple of eggs ,Baked Beans and Sourdough Bread toasted. James has his weekly curry.
I am having trouble typing .I have a plaster on my typing finger and keep hitting the wrong keys. Then having to backspace all the time to get the spelling right. It is driving me barmy :-S

Dentist for me tomorrow morning for a check up. I hav been having a good go with the electric toothbrush especially on my back teeth. I know they say the electric/battery brushes are better thana normal toothbrush but I find I spray everywhere and dribble when using it.I just find it messy. I still have a brush afterwards with my good old bog standard brush :-D

I bought Hannah a lovely back pack bag for her birthday. Not one of these massive things .But just right for when travelling .Just the size of a big handbag really.. Anyway I was in town this morning and saw there was still one the same in TkMax so bought it for ME :-D :-D.It will be ideal when we go on Eurostar .I can pack my normal handbag. This back bag will hold a bottle of water,my kindle,Passport ,etc plus all the usual rubbish I cart around :-D :-D (like us ladies do)

Gillx Report 14 Mar 2017 18:14

BOG BRUSH to clean your teeth LOL :-D :-D :-D That'll teach me to read to quickly without my glasses on. ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Mar 2017 18:23

I could have sent yhou a small back pack I got free from cotton traders. Its just sitting in the uti room doing nothing and I doubt I shall ever use it.

Well our day started of really lovely with the sunshine then it turned grey just before I went out and when I came out of the shop it was fine drizzle. When I arrived home it was like a heavy mist and makes you so wet.

O William poor Carmel what an ordeal you have both been through in the night. I do hope she is feeling more comfortable when you see her tonight and am sending all my special wishes to her and a big {{{{hug}}} and X. I wonder how long she will have to stay in there? you really need a bungalow so there are no stairs for her or you for that matter.

Usual curry for oh tonight and I am having a deep filled pizza with cheese and pepperomi.

Jane

Jane Report 14 Mar 2017 18:29

I know I have a big mouth Gill LOL but don't think my BOG Brush would fit :-D :-D

Annx

Annx Report 14 Mar 2017 19:41

Evening All,

I have that picture in my head of Jane with the bog brush now.............and a drizzle of Harpic on it! :-D. lol

I didn't send the pics to Jane and Frank as they would see them on FB where I also put them! I think I'll stick to sending them to everybody in future as it will be easier. Frank and Jane will just see them twice and think they have 'the multiplying eye' like Joseph Poorgrass in Far from the Madding Crowd. :-D

Well you moved fast on the car Gill, but I expect you are happier now it is sorted and replaced. I hope old grumpy has looked after it well.

Frank I have had the same thing with a few pots and roots coming through like that. It helps to stick a round drainage tray under them so the roots can't go into the soil underneath. It can be a right game getting them out of the pot and sometimes I have had to cut the roots and hope for the best.

I hope you get your downpipe sorted Anne. It only needs a small crack for water to come through and you would have thought they had given it a good testing before they went.

Yes, we might go somewhere else for a few days or for several day trips now the week away has been changed. Maybe a trip on the Settle Carlisle railway for one thing as we never quite got round to it before.

OH took his car in for those manufacturer's updates to be done today. We don't like this garage, but it is the nearest Citroen Dealer. Once when we went just to get a part exchange price on OH's car years ago, the woman we dealt with wouldn't leave it and accept we weren't buying from them. She pestered OH with emails and phone calls every few months for over 2 years!! :-S Today they decided to do a FREE inspection as well (look for more work to do more like!!) which OH wasn't really happy about as he wanted the car back before teatime. The garage is opposite Leicester City Football Ground and they are playing Seville tonight so we knew it would be a nightmare with traffic in the area later on when we went to collect the car. They rang OH during the day to tell him the car needed oil so they would top it up. When he got home with the car he walked in with a one litre bottle of oil in his hand and a bill for it for £17!!! I checked on the internet and they seem to be charging a 50% mark up on the price compared to anyone else and they hadn't even put it in the engine!! I thought about it and said to OH 'what are they doing saying it needs oil anyway as no low oil warning light had come on??' Surely if they think it needs oil they should be saying the oil light is faulty and wanting to mend that? Also the car is in for a service in 3 weeks so any oil put in now will just be drained out and replaced then. The upshot is that he's going to take the oil back and ask for a refund on it. I think they are just trying to fleece their customers doing things that aren't necessary. :-|
