Thank you Jane, I'd forgotten about the time!! That should be a good time before the car park gets full.

I hope Carmel is more comfortable now William. You have had a right time of it and must be worn out. Very best wishes to you both and don't forget to look after yourself as well. <3 <3

Chelsea will have a great time Mandy. I found the hardest bit about canoeing was getting in and out without tipping the canoe up. It all sounds great fun.

William Report 14 Mar 2017 22:18

Hi folks, just a quick update. Dorothy came and took me to the hospital and we were there for about 6.30pm but Carmel hadn't come back from theatre by then. Someone phoned to find out the position and we were told that she was in the recovery area and should be back on the ward in about an hour. We went down to the shop and seating area and browsed around and then were joined by grandson Matthew, who related the latest gurglings etc from our great-grandson Lincoln (who is the apple of Carmel's eye).
Back on the ward an hour later and still no Carmel but we were told she would be back soon and the ward sister said in the circumstances that she wouldn't 'chuck us out' at 8pm when visiting ended. Shortly after they wheeled her in, she was still under the general anaesthetic with an oxygen mask on. We waited patiently until her eyes flickered and she reacted to the nurse who took her readings. She was able to take some sips of water and speak to us in a sleepy way. Matthew had to leave to get back to his family and we stayed till 8.45pm then said our goodnights. The sister told us that they had plated and use a 'dynamic' screw (whatever that is!, back to Google!) and that avoided doing a hip replacement.I'm hoping thee result will be a good one in the long run, she may be tried out of bed tomorrow or the physios may decide to give it a little longer due to the late time she came back to the ward.
I shall be going along in the morning and will let you know her progress etc. The staff have been marvelous and on the ward 'hand over' tonight, sister told all the staff that Carmel had 'a wonderful husband' , gosh, fame at last. Needless to say, I took a little bow LOL.
Going for an early night, my eyes are on fire but I shall rest content that every one is on our side and as always, things could have been much worse.
Night night, God bless you all.

Morning all

I see storm Stella is heading it's way towards us so Sandra may get her snow after all

Taking the opportunity to get on here while Ruby is fast asleep and snoring away.I've also been filling a charity bag to be picked up tomorrow, I have had to be very strict with myself as I have so much that I don't really need

William sorry to hear about Carmel's fall and broken hip it must have been very traumatic for you both but thankfully she came through her op it sounds as though she is in a good hospital and a lovely compliment to you about being the good husband we all know you are. Please let us know how she is getting on.

How nice Gill to now have a new car it does sound like you have done the right thing as your old one was costing money to keep it on the road. perhaps Mr Grumpy will be more friendly now you have bought his car.

Your photo's were lovely Ann, you should enter tem in the Country file competition. That's good your holiday dates have now been sorted to your advantage and now you will be able to enjoy a peaceful holiday.

Pleased to hear Thomas is on the mend Jane but I don't expect the mice will be.

Mandy, Chelsea will enjoy the school trip, both Abbie and Becky have done this, is it the first holiday away from her Mum & Dad ?

Morning all

Another lovely sunny day today, looks like spring is finally here.

I've not been keeping an eye on the weather lately so haven't heard about the storm in America.......so there might be some snow on it's way? That'll please Sandra, she has been waiting so long. I won't say anything to her just incase it doesn't happen, plus it'll be a lovely surprise for her if it does.

It sounds like Chelsea is looking forward to her trip, hope she has a great time and the weather is nice. She'll be full or stories when she gets back Mandy.

How is Thomas today Jane, hope his shoulder is still improving? Don't worry I have my glasses on this time so won't mis-read your posts. I've still got a smile on my face at my silly mistake yesterday :-D

Hope William had a good nights sleep last night, it sounds like he needed it. At least Carmel didn't need a hip replacement so hopefully she's had a good night too and will be home with William again very soon <3 Get Well Soon Carmel <3

Morning All,

Thanks for letting us know how things are going William and you will be so glad to have seen Carmel after the operation. It sounds like it would be a less traumatic operation than it might have been so hopefully the recovery may be better. I'm pleased it was recognised what a good husband you are ( and so it should be! ) and that your mind is eased by the good care she is getting. Hopefully you got some good rest and feel refreshed now. Please keep us updated with how she is doing and pass on our good wishes.

Glorious sunshine here and OH was up early and off to the first of 2 council meetings first thing. There is a carvery almost next door to where he is so the plan is that I meet him there at one o clock when his meeting finishes. No doubt there may be some funny looks as there usually is when we arrive each on our own in separate cars and greet with a kiss!! :-) lol. People do jump to conclusions don't they!

I've been asked if I will attend a meeting at the hospital to help another student. They think my experience of the last study I volunteered for makes me ideal! I hope so!

I'd better get moving now and get a bit more clearing in the study done. My beads are mostly sorted now, apart from 3 trays of 'unfinished' projects that need tidying into boxes with their patterns when I unearth them. I've also bought some of the big Ikea clear plastic blotter mats. I'm putting one under the printer and another under where there are stacked filing trays. It will protect the nice wood effect worktops from being scratched or from any paint blobs when I do painting and sit my paints there.

I forgot to say Mel that I noticed 'faces' in the tree pic too!

Afternoon Everyone
What a beautiful day !.Not a cloud in the sky. Fitz came up at 11.30 and has just gone. The three of us have been sat out in the sunshine. My Vitamin D level has been well topped up :-D :-D.
My dental appointment went well.I got 99 out of a hundred . Just missed out on the extra point because I had a bit of bleeding on the gum on one tooth. I don't even need to see the hygienist .So I am all good now for the next 6 months :-D

William ,You will be well relieved now knowing Carmel has had her op and will be recovering. I can just see you taking a bow LOL and so you should :-D.You must be exhausted. It has been a very traumatic time for you.Lots of love to you both <3

Ann, I bet tongues were wagging . Nudge Nudge ,Wink Wink LOL .Hope you have enjoyed the carvery :-D
Yes I see we might be getting the tail end of the winter storm from America. I think that is likely towards the weekend. I think that is when Janice and Larry arrive back in Southampton on the cruise ship. I really hope they don't have a rough homecoming.

Chelsea will have a wonderful time Mandy. It is all great experience and lots of fun :-D.The good weather too at the moment will be a big bonus.

Thomas is FINE :-D.No limping and back to normal now :-D

I have to ring British Gas :-S :-S.The last 2 nights I have woken up to hear the pump still going in the airing cupboard. The boiler in the garage was flashing a red light with the number F 26. Here we go again. It works once reset.

I think I might just go and sit outside again and catch the last of the afternoon sun :-D

Did the sun come out for you Mel? Is your itching still as bad as it was ? If it is I reckon you need to go back to the GP.It's been weeks now since you started itching.

Hi all, Sorry I haven't been around. I got up this morning feeling HOT and COLD and FAINT. I haven't been out of my dressing gown all day. I managed a shower and shave, but that was as far as I got.

No food all day just a couple of drinks. Just has few mouthfuls of dinner, but most went in the bin. Now ready to get to bed. I know I have been no company for Ros.
She changed the bed this morning so I have nice cold cotton sheets to get into when I go.
See you tomorrow.

William Report 15 Mar 2017 18:38

Hi folks, here's the latest update and thank you all so much for your good wishes, it does mean a lot.
I got to the G E about 11.30 this morning and they had her sitting out but she wasn't in the best of mood and was a bit incoherent. Apparently the lady in the corner bed had kept them all awake all night singing (6 beds in the unit) which made 2 nights Carmel hadn't had any sleep. She was also in a lot of pain, the canular in her left hand had been taken out because the paracetamol wasn't flowing properly. They then put the canular in her right hand, poor Carmel has very bad veins anyway and it is always a problem. Any they started the drip going again and the back her hand became all swollen, so it had to come out again. After lunch they put her back on here bed by which times her restless legs syndrome kicked in and they hadn't got her medication for that on her list. I snook home and came back with it a plain bag and after a while the jumping ceased and I got her off to sleep. Daughter Dorothy arrived at 5.00pm and I left half an hour later.
It's such a shame as it was her birthday a week Monday past and this Monday she had been in great form with a visit to a cinema promised by myself and afternoon tea voucher (open) at Coombe Abbey hotel to look forward to in the future. Then all this!
Friday will be St Patricks Day, Carmel is Irish, my Mum's birthday was March 17th and we took delivery of our current Motobility car a year ago on the 17th I'll have to cook up something to take into her on that day to try and cheer her up.
More news tomorrow..

Annx Report 15 Mar 2017 19:13

Well he is a little tinker doing that Mandy. The look on his face suggests he had noticed you didn't look thrilled at what he'd done. I hope he doesn't start pulling the good stuff off the line! I'm sure you don't want him making your smalls any smaller or lacier!! ;-) :-D :-D Those quilt covers were an absolute bargain weren't they, a pillowcase could cost more!

On the way back from the carvery there had been a dreadful head on crash between a Landrover and car at some traffic lights and there were several police cars and policemen directing traffic. Its a set of lights I hate because even though you are going straight on, there are several lanes of traffic and it isn't clear which the straight on lane is the other side of the lights as it's offset to the left. I wondered if someone had just driven straight on into an oncoming vehicle.

Sorry to hear you don't feel well Frank and I hope a good night's rest may help. OH and I had something a few days ago where we were very tired and hot with hot cheeks and felt headachey and off our food. Hopefully it is just a bug you have that won't last long.

I'm glad Thomas is better now and that was good news at the dentist Jane 99%.....an excellent result! I have had trouble the last couple of days with a tooth the dentist has told me doesn't have much future. It doesn't ache, but has a bruised feeling if I try to bite or press on it. My teeth seem to close on it first too as if it may be swollen underneath. I hope it isn't an abscess coming and have been swishing around it with mouthwash twice a day. I could be requesting thin gruel at our meal next week if there's no change!! lol. I should be fine though, either better or toothless!! :-0

Annx

Annx Report 15 Mar 2017 19:25

Didn't see your post William! Poor Carmel must be so tired, it's no wonder she wasn't her usual self after all the singing in the night. You'd think the nurses would have shut the woman up. The canular problems wouldn't help either would they and the anaesthetic takes a while to wear off. It's good she was getting some sleep by the time you left though and she will probably be as different again tomorrow. You will have to save up the treats for when she's home. :-)

Gillx

Gillx Report 15 Mar 2017 21:20

I love the picture of Max Mandy, he has a look as if to say it wasn't me. Do you think he's trying to tell you something, maybe a new cloth.

Poor Carmel, she's not having a very good week is she William? Hope things improve for her soon. At least she'll have some nice things to look forward to when she comes home. Have they said how long she'll be in hospital for?

So 99% at the dentist Jane, that's good and Thomas back to normal now, that must be a relief for you. Hope the weather isn't to bad for Janice and Larry coming home.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling very well Frank. Let's hope you get a good nights sleep and feel better tomorrow. It sounds like you might have what Ann and G had.

There's nothing worse than a bad tooth Ann, hope it's not an abscess. The mouthwash should help. Have you tried some Bonjela (sp) I find that sometimes helps with the discomfort. Hope it's sorted before your lunch with Jane and Fitz.

OH's in from work now so we're going to watch a few programmes I recorded for him, before bed. See you all tomorrow

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Mar 2017 22:19

Mandy his face is a picture. I think he was trying to tell you he needs a new cloth to wipe his cage out when he spills his water bowl. The little tyke.

Well I have hoovered today and cleaned the bathroom so a good day here HW wise if you can call it that. At least I got something done today. I was hoping to clean the chickens out today but as oh was mowing and I had the house to myself I thought I would clean instead.

Poor Carmel with two sleepless nights. I hope the other lady dos'nt sing all night tonight.

That day I spent in hosp a few years ago with my heart we had a lady, a BIG, lady who kept calling for the nurses. She was in there to give her hubby a rest. Needless to say she kept calling because she needed the bed pan and they poor nurses had to keep changing her nighty because they did'nt get there in time and of course they had to change all her bedding too. she had to be lifted from the bed with a hoist so you can imagine the night the others had that night. Then there was Evelyn in the other corner who talked in her sleep all night.

Well I am still itching but not so much now. The red patches on my arms have gone down a bit and are not so prominant (sp) they just look a bit dry and scaley now so I must keep up with the blancmange stuff. It is quite nice actually and dos'nt leave your skin as greasy as E 45 cream. What a strange word Blancmange is and it reminds me of my dad. He always called it blonk monge and I only liked the pink one.

Gillx Report 16 Mar 2017 10:40

Morning Mel, morning all

Another sunny day today, we're doing well with the weather recently, hope it's nice for everyone else.

Not much going on here today Mel, I really should get on with the front garden but need OH's help. He's not off work until the weekend and the weather is suppose to change, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

Everyone at work was jealous of OH's new car with the millage being so low and the fact he didn't pay much for it, so he's a happy chappy. He did have a problem with the valve on one of the tyres so that is hopefully being fixed at the garage today, he took it yesterday but they were busy. Luckily he swapped it for the spare tyre so everything seems okay now. I think he'll feel better once the service is done and the car is checked over, then we can use it for a run out somewhere. Sandra and I have only been out once this year so it'll be nice to get out.

Hope Frank and Carmel had good nights sleep and are feeling a little better today <3

Going to get a cuppa now then watch a programme I recorded, I started watching it in bed last night but fell asleep half way through. I can't remember much of it so I think I'll just watch it again from the beginning. I'm also popping in and out of my family tree. Had a good run on it yesterday so hopefully I'll be just as lucky today. Sandra is still engrossed in my DS so I don't get much sense out of her, at least she's happy and keeps me informed on how well she is doing......bless her. I'm hoping she'll get her snow at the weekend. I mentioned it to her, even though I wasn't going to, as there hasn't been much of a conversation going on lately with the DS going. She is getting excited so I hope she gets the snow now. She wants to record it on her new camcorder. I'm hoping OH's friend comes round soon with my new battery as I'm going to ask him if he can show me how to put photo's and video's on my laptop then I can email some to you all.

Well, my cuppa is calling ;-) see you all later.
