Evening all,

Sorry Mel but you'll know what i'm going to say ,it's been a beautiful sunny day here bit windy but not cold .

Glad the itching is easing Mel ,perhaps the tablets are now really into your system .

I don't suppose the wind is helping Ruby when she's out walking Anne as it does blow things about and make a noise .
It was so funny yesterday Max saw a small piece of black plastic in the garden i think it was from a bin bag ,well he bark at it as the wind was blowing it about ,every time he tried to to get near it the the wind would move it again and he would back off ,even when i picked it up and held it out to him he wouldn't come near it , it blew from my hand over the wall but he was looking for it for ages after .

Ann it's good the knees are improving with the exercises ,did you manage to get the top from Bon Marche ?

I hope Frank and Ros get to Devon with no hitches .

My sisters birthday tomorrow so i have done her a nice flower arrangement in a box ,we'll take that in the morning with her other bits and i'll see if Molly is awake so i can get some photo's .

Evening All,

Sunny here but it was a bit windy and quite chilly later. Got 2 lots of washing dried so that was good. OH reckons the hoover isn't picking up so it looks like I'll be washing the filters tomorrow!

Yes, I got the top........and another navy one with white spots! I must admit now that C&A, Littlewoods and BHS have all gone, Bon Marche is handy for some things and they seem to have much nicer things than they used to years ago. It sounds like Max decided the bit of plastic was definitely not to be trusted Mandy! lol. I know my ponies hated the rustle of plastic in the wind, plus the movement I expect and hedges seemed to be full of bits and pieces of it!

Was Jane going to Ely for a special reason? I can't remember if she said now. :-S It is said to be very nice there.

I wonder how Frank is getting on. Hopefully his knee is much better than last time and he can potter about for some short walks.

We started a pretty bracelet with some crescent beads today. I am doing mine in colours to match a necklace (also unfinished!) that will have little bead flowers. I'll send a pic when they are finished.

Oh Anne, little Ruby will get braver each time she goes out with you I expect. The exercise will help her get rid of a bit of energy at least. Does she want to pull when she knows you are on the way home again? lol. Abbie sounds like a typical teenager with leaving stuff around. I know I wasn't very tidy and mum would warn me that my room better be clear for when she hoovered or I would be doing it! It didn't sound like her mum made much effort for her coming with sending her for chips!

You will be relieved the itches are improving at last Mel. Hopefully it will help you sleep better as well. Has your hubby fixed the boiler? You are lucky he is so handy. My father and my first hubby were very good at any DIY and I do miss it sometimes! I seem to have to be involved in anything that goes wrong now. Still no-one is perfect in everything. We were talking at beading about men with lots of wives and I said I wondered how many men would like it if we women had several husbands!! lol :-) We soon decided that if we had several husbands one would have to be a chef, another good at cleaning, another at DIY etc. ;-) ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 24 Mar 2017 22:01

Well Ann my oh is good at most things. He used to work with his dad in the school holidays. He was an electrician and boiler man so thats how oh knows so much about these things. His dad also did wood carving and we have his little case with the little chisels all aranged in the lid and others in the case at the bottom.

Oh has made me many chicken houses and runs in the past but now I think he is a bit worn out, bless him. Hips and back play him up a lot and he dos'nt walk very far now. I suppose it was the 28 years in the fire service standing on ladders at funny angles. You know what its like if you have to stand on a ladder just to clean the windows or paint the walls and ceiling. I know mine would'nt stand it anymore. I think the last thing was vacing out the pond which put his back out again but he is netter today and moving a lot faster than he has been.

I do sleep ok most nights and I think the antihistamins make me sleep too.

I have Red Nose Day on on the telly but I don't think it is as good as in years gone by.

I hope Frank and Ros had a safe and good journey down.

Mandy we had a little sun later today and the wind dropped so it was quite a nice evening. The stars are all shining and I have seen either two or one hedgehog twice.

William Report 25 Mar 2017 09:11

Sorry I haven't been on to update you but sometimes I feel I'm in a whirl, things to do, phone calls to make plus visiting Carmel at the hospital twice a day most times. She is progressing slowly but surely and eating well now that she knows what to order that suits her eating problems. The staff are very good to her, have no complaints in that direction.
A docotr friend told me this morning (email) that plated and screwed hips have a good mobilisation record, so that's hopeful.
However, just to complicate matters, our granddaughter Siobhan (who lies at Measham - Anne will know it) is in Burton hospital after collapsing at her doctors surgery. She had a very bad migraine last week that lasted a couple of days but we thought that was over as she called at the G E the other evening and was in grand form. As a teacher, she was telling us all the super things they had planned for the pupils for Red Nose Day. Dorothy is calling in on Carmel today then going off to see how Siobhan is. Just to add to the mayhem, my back is killing me (hospital chairs) and I've now got a gum infection. I'm attending the osteopath and went to the dentist yesterday and got antibiotics etc. Why can't things be easy?
Anyway, enough for now, things to do, onwards and upwards. I'll let you know more as things develop. I'ts going to seem strange for Carmel spending Mothers Day in hospital!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Mar 2017 09:43

Morning William and all,

Yes I know what you mean about the fingers William.

WE HAVE WALL TO WALL SUNSHINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but its stil bl**dy cold out there.

So nice to know that both Carmel and Liz are getting along ok.

William I think you are just a bit run down getting that gum infection. I know they can be nasty so take the tablets and keep going. I know it must be hard for Carmel in the hosp for mothers day but it is the best place for her with the nurses around all the time and even though you have to go to visit it must give you a little respite. Keep your chin up and carry on. <3

Itching a bit this morning but I did'nt put my cream on last night so I better do that today.

Down the shop this mornng and then deliver Em's eggs and then I may, just may go in the garden and do a bit of cutting back.

Gillx Report 25 Mar 2017 10:08

Morning all

Another bright and sunny day, we had a bit of ground frost this morning but the sun's warm enough to melt it away.

It sounds like you've had a right time of it lately William, hope you are feeling better soon. Carmel is being well looked after so that's one less thing for you to worry about. Sorry to hear about your granddaughter, hope it's not serious and she is well again soon.

I think I'm finally over this tummy bug I've had for the last few days, it knocked me right off my feet and it didn't help when I had to call an electrician out yesterday to fit a light fitting in the porch. We use that light all the time but there were so many wires going into it OH couldn't work it out, hence the electrician. It's all sorted now so that's good.

Hope you had a nice time in Ely Jane, was it just a trip away or a celebration of something?

Happy birthday to your sister Mandy, hope she has a nice day <3 The flower arrangement in the box sounds nice. Looking forward to seeing the pics of Molly if you take some. I had to laugh at the story of Max with the bit of plastic, aren't animals funny LOL.

So Ruby isn't liking her walks Anne, I'm sure she'll get used to them soon and then there'll be no stopping her. Poor Abbie having to go and buy chips, you'd think her mum would of made an effort for her daughter. Messy room.......that brings back memories when my girls were teenagers, mind you Sandra's not that different now, although it is a little tidier, at least I can see more of the floor now ;-)

I wonder how Frank and Ros are getting on he hasn't been on here to let us know. Hope the journey was okay for them.

The bracelet sounds nice Ann, looking forward to seeing the pictures when it's finished and of the necklace to match too.

We noticed a hog the other night Mel, OH was just saying he wondered when they'd be around again then a few minutes later there she was. I put some nuts out for her as it's all I had to hand.

Going to get a cuppa now, I've been really thirsty lately, probably because of the bug I had, OH thinks I might of been a bit dehydrated as I had a banging headache with it too.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Mar 2017 14:35

Its still lovely sunshine here today.

I have done the shop for the paper and delivered the eggs and Em had a friend round with her three c hildren as george, Em's eldest had a sleep over last night and Tracey had brought him back and stayed for a coffee at Em's the kids had all the quad bykes out and the little tractor and the two motorized cars and then George said I am going to blow some BIG BUBBLES. He got the bubble liquid out and these two sticks with stirng cord on and dipped it in the bucket of bubble liquid and brought it out and pulled the sticks apart and a huge long bubble blew out in the wind. We had great fun with all these big bubbles floating around and the kids trying to burst them.

Glad you're feeling better Gill. You could buy a small box of cat biscuits to put out for the hog so Sandra could see it out of the window. Nothing with fish in it though. I by duck rabbit and beef ones or just beef or chicken turkey and rabbit.

Ask Sandra if she wants her birthday present early before her birthday please?

Gillx

Gillx Report 25 Mar 2017 16:35

Thanks Mel for the advice on what to feed the hog, we've only seen one a few days ago but the nights have been frosty so maybe they are keeping warm somewhere or coming out after we've gone to bed. I've had a few early night lately with not being well and the last time we saw the hog it was very late, so I've probably been looking before she's come into the garden.

I asked Sandra if she'd like her present early and her face lit up, so I think we can take that as a yes please <3

It sounds like you've had great fun with the bubbles.

Did you watch the F1 qualifying earlier, I won't say who's in pole incase you haven't seen it yet. There are lots of changes this year, not only with the cars, which run a lot faster but with the drivers and the boss's too. It'll take me a while to get my head around it all.

An old school friend of mine emigrated to Australia years ago and she said her son was going to be racing in one of the boats on the lake at the F1, the cars drive around the lake so I'll be keeping an eye out. I noticed today there are loads of them so whether I'll see her son I'm not sure. I recorded the qualifying for OH so if I get an email off my friend she might tell me the colour of the boat so I can watch it again off the planner. I did ask her to let me know what colour the boat was as soon as she knew. Because she's in Australia they are a day ahead so hopefully she'll let me know soon.

Sandra and I have been sitting outside, it's such a lovely warm day out there today, so much so it got a bit hot for us before and we had to come in to cool off, just been back out though as it's gone a bit cooler now. Sandra's been taking more pictures of the flowers and I noticed the hyacinths I planted for her a while back are starting to pop out through the soil in the pot so she's a happy bunny now.....bless her.

It's very quiet on here today I wonder what time Jane is back from Ely. Hope she's had the good weather we've had and has a safe journey home.

Jane Report 25 Mar 2017 17:01

Hello!!!! .We are just back home now after a really lovely time. I will send on a few pics.We stayed in a small riverside Inn.We were the only ones staying. But the restaurant was packed out last night. The food was amazing .We had a full English this morning and haven't needed to eat anything else yet.
It was so peaceful where we stayed. The only sound was birds. The river was just feet away from our room .I just loved it.
Ely Cathedral is beautiful ,we joined a tour so learned all about the history etc. Then Cromwells House was fascinating. We had those phone things so each room we went into just pressed a number and listened to all the info .We even tried on the old Helmets worn back in his day LOL. That was a sight and they were very heavy.
The river in Ely was buzzing with lots of narrow boats and various other types of boats. It was lovely to see it all in such beautiful sunshine.Wall to wall sun the whole time.
Our journey there though yesterday was a bit of a nightmare as there was a 6 car pile up on the A14 and we were stuck for some time until we managed to pull off and go cross country(getting lost a few times). But we got there in the end feeling quite drained .So it was a glass of wine sitting out and relaxing before dinner.
Our tickets for Ely Cathedral last for 12months so I think it will be another trip there. We were lucky to go this morning as from 1pm some of it was closed for a wedding.

I found a beautiful bouquet of flowers and box of chocs on the dining table when we got in. From James for Mothers Day :-D :-D.What a lovely son :-D
I have something from Hannah in an envelope but haven't opened that yet.

She has been to the cattle market today .She sent me a little video clip of the bidding on what I am assuming were Gareth's Dad's Cows. No doubt I will hear all about the experience

Mel what brilliant pics of the Seal !!!!!!!!!!!.Your BIL got them just right didn't he.It made me laugh to see the way the Seal was just looking so layed back there in the boat.Bit like an old man LOL

Mandy,I hope your Sister is enjoying her Birthday today.

Glad you are feeling better now Gill after your horrible bug.Good job you managed to get someone to fix your light. Much safer too than OH having a go if he was confused with all the wiring.

Oh William..It sounds like you are suffering. Not want you need right now is it. It is good though that Carmel is coming along nicely now. Do you have any idea how much longer she is likely to be in hospital? I hope your Grandaughter is ok after her collapse at the surgery. That must have been a bit scary for all concerened .

I think I will and give Thomas a bit of attention. I think he might be a bit miffed that I deserted him .I expect he will take no notice of me now for a while .

Annx Report 25 Mar 2017 17:08

Glad you are feeling better Gill and it must have been a tonic to be able to sit outside today.

I have seen those big bubble makers in the shops Mel and thought they would be good fun...........even for grownups!! lol :-)

OH has sped off to a match somewhere near Stratford on Avon so will be back quite late I expect. I have been along the A5 to Dobies garden centre and it was packed with it being a nice day. I got a nice short sleeved top with a blue and pale lemon aztec type design at the clothes outlet (it must be the 'in' pattern this year Mandy!) It was an M&S top and only £9 so that wasn't bad. Another car like mine was parked further along and opposite and when I was putting things in the boot they were leaving and stopped to have a natter about the cars! The lady said she'd had hers for 3 years, loved it and wouldn't swap it. We both said we were surprised they'd stopped making them.

The washers on with the towels in and the hoover filters are drying nicely in the conservatory. :-) Better get on with a bit more sorting while there's peace and quiet!

What a lovely picture of the sunset Jane. It sounds like you've had a lovely relaxing time away, let's hope the nice weather stays then you can sit outside in your garden. What a nice surprise to see the flowers and chocolates and another off Hannah when you open it. You do have thoughtful children.

I thought the same as Jane Mel when I saw the pictures of the seal, he looked quite content slouched in the boat, watching the world go by. ;-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Mar 2017 17:49

I think he should send it to Countryfile when they ask for pics for th enew calender. There are lots more of it getting in and getting out. I thought the water droplets were great. Mind you he has all the gear and lenses and a blimmin good camera.

I'll see if I can send you the ones of the kingfisher.

So Sandra dos'nt mind if she has her present earlier than her birthday then? It is just a matter of how ong it takes me to get to a post office as I don't trust the mobile van since they lost Williams parcels I sent him which was returned to me months later.

I'll see what I can do then Gill. Its a long wakl to the one in Bideford from where you have to park and pay for parking too so I may go into Holsworthy next week and do it there.

William you have such a busy time lately backwards and forward to the hospital i expect as Mel said you have got a bit run down ,glad to hear the Carmel is slowly getting there , i hope your grand daughter soon feels better too.

Mel what a silly question :-D who would want to wait for a pressy when asked if they want it early :-D i didn't think she would say no .
I love the seal in the boat :-D not some thing you expect to see , it looks just like he's posing for the camera .

Ann your necklace is lovely ,it must have taken you ages to get that one done ,looking forward to seeing the bracelet and necklace when they are done now.

Sounds as if you had a great time away Jane ,lovely photo's ,that was great taking the photo in the same place after all those years .
I wonder what Hannah thought of the cattle market ,we use to have a cattle market here in the town when i was young ,i remember i didn't like it when the cattle reared up i thought they were going to jump over the top of the pens .
Lovely of James to leave the chocs and flowers out for you when you got home .

Glad your feeling better today Gill these bugs hang on some times ,you'll sleep well tonight after sitting out in the fresh air and getting the sun .

Still no Frank !! i wonder if he remembered to take his lap top .

I'am sure there was some thing else i wanted to say but carn't think what it was now , oh well it will come to me ,probably when i wake in the night :-S

It sounds like she was having fun running around, you were lucky to get a picture that wasn't fuzzy. I should imagine you'd of had to be quick when she finally stopped for a breath. :-)

Yes I think I will sleep tonight, the sun has been lovely, hope it's just as nice tomorrow for Mother's Day.

Just watching the end of Let's sing and dance for comic relief Sandra has had us watching it for the last few weeks and it's the final tonight. It's not been a bad programme and quite funny too.
