TO ALL ON THIS THREAD THAT ARE MOTHERS - HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY

Carmel is getting more positive each day especially now that there is a younger person in the ward that she can chat too. Yesterday she managed to walk a few steps with the support and one staff and make the reverse back to her armchair. Then in the afternoon when she wanted to get back into bed, she managed it with the help of one nurse and without using the rotunda (a turntable device). The pain she a is also managing better and when she can walk with a frame and the aid of one person she will be transferred to a rehabilitation home until she can manage when she comes back home.
Our granddaughter Siobhan, is now back home from Burton hospital having been put on long term preventative medication for migraine.

I'll update you again but things are going in the right direction. Thanks for all your support.

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Happy Mothers Day <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

Yes we have wall to wall sunshine but a very cold wind too.

So who forgot to put the clocks forward??

I did'nt and was a good girl and went to bed earlier.

I'm so pleased that Carmel is managing to take a few steps aided. Its a good sign for things to come. Sending love and wishes as always for a speedy recovery to both Carmel and our LIz. xx <3 <3

Still no word from Frank. Hope he arrived safely as I do get worried when we don't hear from him after a long journey like that.

Now I must get on...........

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2017 11:53

I didn't forget the clocks Mel, we do it just before we go to bed so we wake up to the right time. Sandra's clock alters itself so she doesn't need to worry about it.
I'm like you Mel, it would be nice to hear from Frank, just so we all know they arrived safely.

So pleased you have some positive news about Carmel William and your granddaughter too. Migraines aren't very nice at all so the medication should help. Hope you are feeling better now as well <3

Sandra got me a lovely bunch of flowers, a box of chocolates, a CD and some of those tic tacs that start off cherry flavour then turn to cola. I mentioned them ages ago saying I wouldn't mind trying them but forgot all about it, Sandra didn't though so that was a nice surprise.....they taste nice ;-) She also got me a lovely card <3

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mums out there

I did remember to put the clocks forward it will be tomorrow when it will be hard to get up.

So pleased to hear Carmel is making good progress William and hope she will be home soon

Mandy, Loved the photo of your sister's Molly she is a beautiful girl and what a lovely expression on her little face, she will make a good play mate for Max. My friend had a lab. just like her named Annie and one of my neighbours had one called Pippa

Jane your photo's of Ely were good I liked the 2 different eras of your photo. the sun set was pretty which shows you must have had a good day weather wise, are you back in Thomas's good books yet?

That was amazing photo that your BIL took Mel the seal looked so relaxed in the rowing boat was It taken on the nature reserve?

Ann please would you send me the photo of your necklace .

I have also been wondering about Frank & Ros and hoping they arrived safely and the weather has been kind to them.

Gill I have just seen the news about the big gas explosion on the Wirral is it very close to where you live? Sandra gave you some really nice presents she must have got a lot of enjoyment giving them to you

Richard is in the garden sorting out both the ponds they badly needed it, he is also lopping off some more over hanging branches at the top of the garden as he is over 6ft in height it is quite easy for him to do

I had a card and a Boots voucher in the post from Mark, Richard gave me a pretty card with a ginger kitten on it and wants me to choose an everyday watch as the battery has gone on my old one and it isn't worth replacing. I have a pretty gold one that was given to me when I retired from work the first time but I don't like using it when I am doing housework or gardening. Paul is working today until 2o/c so will see him then.

Ready to go for my afternoon visit to Carmel now. I've actually put on a tie and nice jacket as it's Mothering Sunday, hope she'll be suitably impressed! Have a nice day all.

Afternoon Everyone
Happy Mothers day to all you Mums .

It sounds as though Carmel is beginning to be a little mobile now which is wonderful. She will think you look the Bees Knees William in your suit and tie :-D :-D.

I wondered how far this explosion was too from Gill.It looked horrendous.Thank goodness there were no fatalities.(I don't think there were)
Mmm not sure about those flavoured Tic Macs Gill !!!!!.. Is that what the 'wink' was about ? :-)

I'm sure Frank will be having a lovely time Mel. He has either forgotten the laptop or it isn't working.Did he say when he was coming home? I seem to have Tuesday in my mind.

Ann,that will be nice to choose a new watch :-D.Have you any idea what you fancy?
Hannah gave me a pretty pair of little gold earrings. I always wear silver so it makes a really nice change. She did actually quite enjoy the Catttle Market.Maybe enjoy is not quite the right word. But she said it was very interesting. All 11 cows belonging to Gareth's Dad were sold at very high prices ,so she said. I didn't like to ask how much but am sure I will find out :-D

Ann ,that second pic of me next to my 27 yr old self was hideous. But it was a nice idea to do it. Chris wandered around the outside of the Catherdal to try and find the same spot.

Dinner tonight cooked by James is going to be Chicken and Mushroom Marsala ,with Rice and Green Beans sautéd in Garlic . Strong breaths tomorrow me thinks !!

Afternoon All,

Happy Mother's Day to the Mothers! I'm surprised there isn't a Grandmother's Day too these days.

I liked the pics Jane and I can see Hannah's resemblance to you in the 'young' one. I see your hairstyle then was similar to now wasn't it. It sounds like you had an enjoyable time at Ely.

Sorry I missed you with the pic Anne, I have just sent it to you!

You will look as if you are in your 'Sunday Best' to visit Carmel Will! I bet she will be impressed too. I hope she is starting to feel a bit better now and that your grand daughter is much better after that nasty scare.

What a sweet little pup Mandy! I can see Molly and Max loving to play together. :-)

Gill, I'm not sure I'd like those sweets but it was very thoughtful of Sandra to remember them as you say.

We sat up the garden with a COT in the sunshine this morning and watched one of the Buzzards circling. OH has weeded all the garden now and has the backache to prove it! :-S I have cleaned the shower in the bathroom and it looks like we will need a new head for it soon as it has started to get pitting on the surface. I also cleaned the grouting. I have also put some things on Gumtree to sell and need to see if I can sell MIL's saucepan sets on there too when I have taken photos. If they don't sell, I shall box them up and take them to the auction a few miles away. They will fill my car boot on their own!

We had a nice fresh salmon salad for lunch today with pickles. I had some nice Avocado sliced onto mine. We decided it would be 'Mother's Day' mayhem at all the local eateries so stayed in. lol I was going to do Lamb, but OH told me I didn't want to be spending ages in the kitchen and to do a salad instead! I wasn't going to disagree with that was I.

My friend and I have signed up to do another glass fusion workshop in May, this time at a different place. It is a furniture and gift shop and they have a 'hut' in the garden they use for different events.

Yikes, someone has answered one of my ads already and wants to come so I'd better go and change out of my 'scruffs'!

Annx

Annx Report 26 Mar 2017 16:41

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2017 18:01

Thanks Anne for letting us know about the explosion, our bungalow was shaking around 9.15 last night. I said it sounded like a bomb, OH and I went outside but couldn't see anything. We have been avoiding the news today because we didn't want to know the results of the F1 so didn't know what it was until I read your post. The explosion was about 2 miles away, so not far. Just before it happened we had someone letting off fireworks so at first I thought it was that, but with the bungalow shaking, OH and I said "what was that". Sandra thought something had hit the window. I believe there are quite a few people injured, hope everyone recovers okay and there's no lasting effects on anyone. We're going to watch the news it's on in a minute, we've seen the pictures online and it's horrific.

I'll catch up with the rest of the posts later, I just spotted my name on your post then started looking for it online.

Evening all and Happy mothers day ,

Sunny here again ,family came this morning with a nice CD Dreamboats and Petticoats 4 cd's so they will be nice to listen too in the car when we go out , also had a nice tin with cookies in and some flowers in a pretty vase.

William you will be all smart to visit Carmel but i bet she wouldn't mind what you wear really she'll just be pleased to see you .

I wondered if the explosion was near to you too Gill when i read it on the news ,you had some lovely things from Sandra for mothers day ,i have tried the tic tacs when the children had them, not sure i would want one again :-)

Oh no Ann one thing sold ..........not OH was it :-D

Gillx

Gillx Report 26 Mar 2017 19:00

The tic tacs taste quite nice Jane, I like both cherry and cola so they were the perfect gift. I think they have another one peach to lemonade, so I'll be trying those now. I've seen the news now. It's effected quite a lot of locals and they had to be evacuated from their homes.

It sounds like you've all had some lovely presents. I've been sharing my chocolates with OH and Sandra, we don't have chocolate very often so it was a nice treat.

You sound very smart William, Carmel will be very impressed.

That's good you have sold something Ann, let's hope you sell more.

It sounds like a few of you have been taking advantage of the good weather and been out in your gardens. OH and I have decided after doing so much last year that we're just going to tidy up the front garden and add a few nice plants here and there front and back. We don't fancy doing anything as big as we did last year.

Anne

Anne Report 26 Mar 2017 19:40

Thanks Ann for the picture of the lovely necklace, you are very talented, unfortunately I don't have any talent in that direction at all.

Paul brought me a pretty mixed basket of a pink flowering plant with some cacti planted in it plus a card. Richard has ordered me a watch from Amazon which should come tomorrow,

We had roast chicken today, so Ruby and the cats enjoyed some as well .

All though they don't have a grandmother's day you can buy cards to give today, a nice idea as some grandmas do bring up their grand children

Iv'e been out in the garden late afternoon as the wind dropped a bit and oh wanted me to move the wire feeding ring for the hedgehogs and their bowls and light. I did that an he cut the grass. I trimmed up all my strawberry plants. I had a look in one of the tubs and it had vine weevil grubs in it. I picked out what I could see and fed them to the bantams who enjoyed them with rellish. :-D :-D :-D

I also did a bit of work on my family tree before going outside but it was quite distant. One of the men was boarding in Instow. Jane knows that place.

Morning from a foggy Northants. It is supposed to clear but no sign yet of that happening. I am going to make a start on the big pile of ironing .It is surprising how quickly it builds up :-S
The birds need feeding first though. They are looking a bit miffed as the feeder is empty.

See you later

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Mar 2017 10:31

Morning Jane and all,

I hav,nt fed my birds yet either Jane. Mine are looking a bit miffed too.

We have lovely sunshine again today so I am going to strip the bed and get that wshed and out on the line before it disappears.

Watched Vera last night after oh had gone to bed and then went to bed myself.

I could get on with some iironing too while the washing machine is on.

Gillx Report 27 Mar 2017 13:55

Afternoon all

Lovely and sunny again here, Sandra and I have just come in from the garden. I noticed one of my big pot plants wasn't happy in the place it was in so Sandra helped me lift it to another area of the garden where it'll be happier, then of course there was a gap so we moved an few plants around to fill the gap then I watered everything as the pots were dry with all the sun we've had lately.

I'm now listening to the CD Sandra gave me for Mother's Day. It's called "I am woman" and is really good, all my favourite songs. Sandra is back on the DS, I think I'm going to have to have it surgically removed from her soon LOL :-D :-D :-D She loves it and plays on it most of the day......so long as she's happy so that's the main thing, although her dad likes it too so they have to share it in the evenings. I wouldn't mind but it's mine and I haven't had a go on it yet. :-) I don't mind though.

Building family trees is quite addictive isn't it Mel, I'm still plodding on with mine every now and then, not so much now as I have over the last few weeks. There has been a wonderful woman on Genes who, without her help, I would never of sorted out my tree, it was her family and she has all the certificates, she has been so helpful. Such a kind woman. Wouldn't the world be a better place is everyone was as kind as her in life? I've just messaged her to thank her for all her help and to let her know how grateful I am.

No housework for me today, it's all been done, so I might take another look at my family tree, now the section I was on is finished.

Still no Frank? Does anyone know when he's home, I can't remember what he said?

Hope things are still improving for Carmel, my thoughts are with her and hope she has a speedy recovery. Also Liz if she's looking in.

Oh before I forget Mel, we saw the hog again last night and I mentioned to OH what you told me to feed them, so that'll be going on our shopping list now <3

12th March FRANK wrote this.

Conrad is home from Spain, and rang us this morning. He is insistent that we go down to Devon for Mothers day, as he is coming home to see his MUM. So it looks like we will be going down on the Thursday before and come home when we are ready.

So whenever they are ready they will be home.

Jane

Jane Report 27 Mar 2017 18:17

Well the sun finally came out :-D.Chris has been planting bulbs. I have not done much after the ironing. My poor fingertips are so painful with this skin problem.I have got some wrapped in plasters with cream under.I bought some cotton gloves at the chemist and have been wearing them.It looks ridiculous really but they do help keep the cream on .
I reckon Frank and Ros will be enjoying themselves if the sun is shining down in Torquay.I'm sure they will have enjoyed their time down there . So we will just have to wait until he decides its time to come home :-D
I think we are in for another foggy morning tomorrow and then sun.So I think it will be a good day to get all the bath mats and towels done.
In the afternoon there is a chap coming to sort out one of the windows upstairs. I can't turn the key in the handle to open it.It will probably be a new handle.Hopefully a straightforward job.

I must tell you about one of the dreams I had last night. It was mad
We were in our old house that we left 24 years ago.It was empty of furniture except for the dining table and chairs. It was a Birthday Party for William's Carmel !!.But Frank was her Husband. Carmel was 70 and I was desperately trying to find cake candles with a 7 and a 0. Chris had been sent out for more candles and came back with HUNDREDS !!!!. Ann, was there too wearing a very strange floppy kind of French Beret :-S.She kept trying to pull the curtains so no-one could see in.But I wouldn't let her . It was a totally bonkers dream LOL.Another dream was me in Amsterdam in some Hotel .But I had gone out and got lost and turned up at a different Hotel ,and everything there was to do with PORN !!!!!!!! I won't go into detail :-D But it was very interesting ;-) Where do these dreams come from eh! ?
The Amsterdam dream was probably because Hannah had sent me the details of a Houseboat that she and Gareth are staying on there next month. I had been meaning to remind her to go and visit the Sex Museum there. Chris and I went some years ago.Quite an eye opener LOL But very interesting .

No housework today then Gill :-D There is so much needing doing here.I can see a thick layer of dust EVERYWHERE :-S..Must look out my feather duster :-D :-D
