That was a short stop to the shed!! No sooner had I got into finishing off one of my jar jar lanterns than out he popped onto the decking having a cig and saying "where's my coffee?" to whicvh I replied "in the kettle" but relented as he added "and hot cross bun".
So here I am sitting at the pc eating a hot cross bun and drinking hot water and milk.

I don't think it is fair of Jess to come to yours full of cold Jane. You keep your distance as you don't need it or Chris for that matter.

Evening All,
Pleased to hear Carmel has had her hair done........it always makes you feel better. Pity about the water infection but hopefully it will soon clear up. She seems to be having as good as a stay as can be expected away from your own home. Lovely photo of her at The Bridge Will. :-)
I wouldn't go and stay with anyone if I had a cold either Mel. It does seem unfair as you say. Mind you colds have developed into some nasty infections with me so I am particularly careful. How long did you have Captain Mel? I know they live a long time and I think you said he was buried in your garden??
Frank, he's even worse when he walks ahead of me as he even points out birds I have already seen and am trying to photograph. If he hasn't already scared them you can imagine what happens when they see his big pointy finger waving towards them!! LOL. :-) I bet you will be hearing those baby chicks soon. Lets hope those pussy cats don't though!!
Mandy how lovely of Nicko to bring you an Easter present in the form of a hot cross bun. I think your friendly kindness has meant so much to him when he was alone and had so little. With enough upheaval and bad luck any one of us could be in his shoes, yet so many are quick to judge and even throw rocks as they did with him. Oh I'm getting teary thinking of that now!! It sounds good he has a new jacket and some suede shoes and at least the weather is getting better.
Oh Gill, how awful that your two BILS are both so unwell. No wonder you have been so stressed as you both must have been so worried. I hope they both improve quickly and that your OH soon feels better with the antibiotics. I think the nerve in your face that's so painful might be the trigeminal nerve? It must be horrid if it's affected your eyesight too.
The dog next door has been a nightmare this week as the neighbour has been at home more or has gone out without him and left him in the garden. She usually goes and helps with grandchildren some of the week but the schools are on Easter break now. Yesterday I got a shock as I heard TWO dogs barking and am hoping it was a friend's dog and that she hasn't got another!! She's had to tape up her letterbox because of him ripping up the post and has a post box on the bungalow wall now!!!
We went to the carvery down the road today and a group of men and women about my age came in and sat the other end from where we were a good distance away. We always take our newspapers with us and sit and do the Wordwheel together after lunch. Off we went to the carvery when it was ready and each put our newspaper out of sight on the chair next to each of us pushed under the table. When we got back and about quarter of an hour later I noticed my paper had disappeared and told OH who started looking under the table. We could only conclude that someone had taken it and OH was about to go and ask the staff at the bar in case they had picked it up when I noticed one of the group of ladies had a newspaper on the bench seat next to her. OH strode over and asked her politely but pointedly has she taken the newspaper from out table. She said 'yes', but then tried to tell him it was the pub's newspaper not ours and argued with him!!!! Well, that was not the thing to say to OH, especially as the pub has never provided newspapers, so he raised his voice so others could hear and gave her a flea in her ear and told her we had bought the newspaper and another that we had with us and that she had no business removing it without checking first. She did grudgingly say sorry then, but we had left a jug of water and two full cups of tea on our table when we went to the carvery so she knew we'd be coming back. She'd obviously watched us and just waited till we'd gone to the carvery before sneaking over to pinch it. None of the rest of her party said a word!!

Having just posted today's offering on Facebook, here's the gist of this zany episode for those who can't see it (minus photos of course). Friday's Linden Grange BOG (Was going to put BLOB, but was told to get the 'L' out of here!). Total emotion raged in Room 24 at L G today when half of Dublin descended on Coleen Carmel and her secret Easter egg stash. Brother Harry came to get his fiver back that Carmel borrowed three years ago, while sister Vera wanted her lipstick back as she was going to the Griff for lunch. Later, with a little time to spare, brother Harry phoned the bookies to learn that his horse had come in at a fifteen to one - actually he misheard, they said 'fifteen (minutes) to one' when actually the nag was in the 12 noon race. Okay, go for a cold shower to calm down your excitement and tune in again for further adventures of C C at L G tomorrow. Seriously it was a lovely get together and sister Vera was very impressed withe Linden Grange and she does have very H I G H standards. Harry and I stayed on till 7pm and made our way back to our place and we haven't stopped talking since. Daughter Dorothy brought in a load of homemade Easter cakes and Easter eggs for us, and not only that, but the staff on today must have thought Harry and I were from the Third World as they kept feeding us!

Sounds like you all had a really great time together William. You are funny the way you write it up. :-D
Ann what a nasty thing to do stealing your newspaper like that. I bet she was so embarrassed to be confronted with Gordon. She must have wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole!! Good on him for sticking up for you both..... I applaude that man........
Yes waas'nt it nice to hear about Nicko from Mandy. I wonder if he will come back in the summer. I miss the reports on him and it brought a tear to my eye too with her little present. I wonder if he was a church goer?

Morning all
Thank you for all your kind wishes, both BIL's have a recovery time to deal with, but hopefully they'll both be okay.
What you said Jane about my face is what mum said, it's very painful and seems to flare up when I'm stressed. Thankfully it's calming down now so hopefully I'll be okay in a day or two. I think my eyesight was effected because of the headache, it's like a migraine, all I know is it's extremely painful and can flare up at any time, this is the second time it's happened this year. It feels like someone has hit me on one side of my face.
How nice of Nicko to bring you the hot cross bun Mandy, he sounds a lovely man. Pleased to hear he made it through the winter okay.
I've not read all your posts Will but it does sound as if you're all having a great time lately. Hope Carmel's water infection clears up soon.
How cheeky of that woman Ann, good on Gordon to confront her.
Going to get a cuppa then have a quick look on Ancestry as they have their records open this weekend. OH and I will be watching the F1 later, he has the weekend off work which is good as he's not at all well at the moment with this throat infection. He's still asleep at the moment which isn't like him at all, he's normally up before Sandra and I so he must need the extra sleep.

Good morning my Little Easter Bunnies, and Will, Evening Kim.
Had the sleep of sleeps last night. 11.15 pm until 5.00 am for toilet visit, then back to sleep until 8.30 am. I feel like a zombie at the moment.
I have washed up breakfast things, and hoovered through the bungalow.
Dos went to meet Martine for their Saturday get together, and do the odds and sods shopping.
Gill there is a programme on SKY 107 that Sandra might like to watch. MONKEY LIFE in Dorset. Very easy watching and informative.
Have spoken to my sister this morning. She still has the headache from her fall earlier in the week. She WON'T call the Doctor, as she is frightened he will send her back to hospital. Paul her Son got her upstairs this morning where is is nice and quiet. She will be able to rest better there than down stairs in the lounge bed.
Funny sort of morning here, very cold wind, but high clouds, so it might stay dry.
The little Robin is playing HAVOCK with Ros's pots and baskets. Earth everywhere. I laid in bed watching him on the conservatory guttering this morning. He uses that spot to land and fly into the garage with his collection of grubs and worms. Within a few seconds he's out and off to get more. They must be worn out with all this hunting.
See you all later have a good day. as they say in the U S of A !!! <3 <3

Afternoon All,
Thanks for the emails Frank.........I enjoyed having a titter!! :-) It sounds like you had a really good night's sleep for a change and have been beavering away while Ros is out. I would enjoy watching the little Robin with the worms. I bet Sandra would like Monkey World as you say. I started watching it in 2007, a few months before Jim Cronin, the founder died from liver cancer. It was such a shame, but it's good his wife, Alison, continued with the sanctuary. About a year after he died we went to see the sanctuary in Dorset and saw Jeremy who seemed just the same off camera in real life! It is very informative as you say and I have watched all the episodes over the years.
Carmel had quite a day then Will with all her guests. I thought the photos you put up were lovely, even the one of the 'director'.
I hope with the rest your hubby will soon feel a bit better Gill. Yes, I want to have a look on Ancestry for my Australian rellies later. They sent me an email to say it would be free this weekend so like you I shall be taking advantage of it!
Mel, OH lets most things go over his head and is very laid back as you know, but this woman's blatant cheek, then arguing with him annoyed him. I think the rest of her group kept their heads down because they knew what she had done and didn't want to get involved, otherwise they would have been asking what was the matter. Even if she had been right and the pub did have free newspapers, she could see we hadn't finished with them. We had it happen once before somewhere else and I noticed 2 chaps on the table next to us reading our papers and I asked them for them back and they apologised and gave them straight back. OH is going to write a 'G' in the corner of them in future as we wouldn't be surprised if people tried to say they were theirs!! People can be so cheeky. He left a new navy gabardine mac on coat hooks at a restaurant once and when he left someone had swapped it for their old tatty mac they then left for him!! :-S
Well, the sun's out so I should be too. I think I shall go over to Rutland to a garden centre there I haven't visited for a long time. OH is doing 2 footie matches and set off a while ago.

Good morning all and a Happy Easter,
Just got back from Puppy socialisation class, very quiet this week, after the 1st May they are changing the rules so that only puppies up to 20 weeks will be able to attend I think it's because some of the older ones are quite big by this time and the tinies find it intimidating . It's a shame because Ruby really enjoys it.
Afterwards we popped over to the crematorium as I had bought a new plant and removed the remains of the daffodils. While we were there we overheard a family choosing a plot for their dad's ashes and one comment was " Oh we can't have them there, not next to a Sharon" how snobbish is that?
Richard really enjoyed his Devon holiday and because they drew lots for the bedrooms he was lucky enough to get the Master. It is a fair way to do it but all the rooms were en-suite so it didn't really matter.
Mandy what a lovely Easter surprise seeing Nicko at the door and how sweet of him to buy you the hot cross bun, I was wondering the other day when you might see him again.
Gill, I hope your two BIL'S are now on the mend and both you and your OH are feeling better and less stressed.
It sounds as you all had a good family get together William, it must have been nice for you & Carmel to see a lot of them . Peter was one of six all with at least two children and a lot of them are now grandparents and even great grandparents.
Jane have you used your exercise bike yet? It fits well in the garage. I hope you don't go down with Jessie's flue like cold. I don't expect Thomas is impressed with seeing Benji again.
What a cheek Ann that lady helping herself to your paper and then trying to argue about it, maybe someone with her did make a comment after your OH had left. I can't understand people letting their dogs bark incessantly with no thought for their neighbours.
So you have been a busy boy then Frank and I'm pleased you had a good nights sleep for once, it does make a lot of difference to how you feel next day. Sorry to hear that your sister still isn't free of that headache but can understand her not wanting to go back into hospital but a worry for her son.
I am just cooking a gammon joint in the oven which we will have with salad sometime over the Easter for tea or lunch. when we got home this morning I cooked a full English for Brunch which will do until our evening meal, Paul stayed to have that and has gone back to his flat now

I have a piece of gammon to cook for Monday. Oh likes it with a cheese and onion sauce and mash and peas. I don't have the sauce but a nice bit of Branston.
Anne a good breakfast starts the day off well. My oh won't have one as he says he can't get on with things when he is full up which is why we have our Big Breakfast on a Sunday and then just a bit of cheese and biccies in the evening.
Dropped the boys eggs off with the normal egg delivery on a Saturday and they gave me a Lindt egg with three little gold bunnies in front of it. Its milk choc so I gave it to oh. Not a fan of milk choc but much prefer plain.
Bet Sandra is looking forward to the Easter Bunny calling.
HAPPY EASTER TO YOU ALL.

Afternoon All I feel like a wet weekend today.Just so weary. I am wondering if it just might be Hayfever related.Feel like I have done 100 miles on my new bike LOL But I haven't even used it yet !! I don't intend keeping it in the garage Anne, but am thinking of taking it upstairs and ussing it in Hannah's room as I can watch the TV at the same time :-).Then it can just be folded and kept in the little space just at the top of the stairs.
Will you not be able to take Ruby to the next stage of training or is it just the one class for the really young pups? I am sure that there were classes for slightly older pups when I went with Chester.
I have no idea what we will be eating on Monday Mel. Your Gammon meal sounds good. Tonight,I am doing the favourite Chicken and Mushroom Pie with the Filo pastry top. I shall put a load of Asparagus in too.The veg is roast carrots with Tarragon. I must remember to take out the Lamb from the freezer tonight for tomorrow. In fact I think I will do it now and just pop it in the fridge to defrost.
Anne,It made me smile to think of someone not wanting Dads ashes buried next to someone called Sharron LOL .How ridiculous it that. The Dad won't know will he.
Well Richard was the lucky one to get the Master bedroom with a lovely view. I had wondered how it was decided who would have which room.
Ann what a blooming cheek of that lady to nick your paper and then argue about it too. I think putting your initial on your papers in the future is a great idea :-D Rutland will be nice this afternoon. Are the Garden centres near the Water?
I wonder what Eggs the Easter Bunny might bring Sandra. I know she loves the flake Cadbury birthday cakes so maybe she will get a Flake Egg :-D I'm glad your face is less painful today Gill.It must be just like having a dreadful toothache :-(
I loved the pics of Carmel and her Brother and Sister .They looked SO happy and Carmel looks really well. William you looked like you were enjoying a little sit in the Directors chair LOL even though you looked far too tall for it.You have very long legs. How tall are you??
Frank you did have a good long sleep last night :-D.Lets hope tonight will be the same. Naughty Robins turfing out the soil from Ros's pots. I think we have the squirrel doing the same but it is digging up the bulbs :-S :-S
J and J have taken Benjy out for a good long walk down the Hills and Dales. Thomas is making the most of it and having a nice sleep :-D
I do agree with what you all said ,that it would have been best really if Jess hadn't brought her bugs here. But to be honest I haven't seen a lot of her.She has not slept well as she needs to be propped up because of coughing so she has slept a fair bit through the mornings. She does seem to have perked up now though and a good bit of fresh air will do her good. Home life for her is not too great really so I know when she gets the chance she really wants to be here. Can't say I blame her. :-)
Something has happened to all I have just typed an all the paragraphs seem to have changed places !!!!. I pressed something and it all went blue and the bit I had been doing was in the middle of something else I had just typed. So I hope it all comes out right now.
Must go and chop the veg and cube the Chicken.I think the fillets have finally defrosted.

Afternoon all,
Nice afternoon here. Ros is cleaning up after the Robin, how long it will stay clean is yet to be seen. The little devil is hanging around where she is potting some plants, so I expect that will be his next attack will the place.
I walked both ways to the pub lunchtime. I had the biggest surprise ever. The owners of the pub in Gayton Moved to Spain in 2004. and they were in my local having lunch. They are back over for a month, as he needs an operation. Having lived in Spain for the passed 13 years, he aught to have his operation there, and PAY FOR IT. He contributes nothing to our taxes, so why should he expect our NHS to look after him.
My West Ham could only get a draw this afternoon against the bottom club. I dispare !!!
Not sure what we will have tonight, Indian, Chinese or F & C, enjoy whats left of the afternoon.

I noticed the Monkey life programme Frank, we all watched Monkey world years ago at the same time as Ann when the poor man passed away with cancer, I thought Alison was tremendous carrying on with all the hard work, the animals are well looked after, so I'll have a look for it again and record it for Sandra and of course OH and I.
I've just woken up after sleeping for 5 HOURS I knew I was tired but didn't realise how tired I was. OH had to wake me up, he said I wouldn't sleep tonight if he left me much longer. I've been sneezing today so think I've got a bit of a cold coming on, thankfully the pain in my face is much better now. We're just watching the F1 qualifying I recorded earlier, then Sandra wants to watch Britain's Got Talent I'm recording it for us to watch later.
Sandra has got a cream egg Easter egg this year Mel, she wanted it yesterday and said Sunday was ages off.......she's so funny sometimes, so now she's looking forward to tomorrow to eat it. I prefer plain chocolate too, although I won't say no to milk chocolate LOL :-D
Sorry to hear about your West Ham Frank, hopefully they'll do better next time. The Robin sounds a cheeky chappy but at least he's still there so that's good. Or it is a she ???? either way it must be nice to watch.
Going to watch the end of the qualifying now before I loose track of what's going on.

It is probably a he Robin as while the hen sits on the eggs he feeds her. I have had my shed pair on the patio and she shouts at him till he stuffs a mealworm down her throat. At first he goes off with one in his beak but when the little ones hatch he goes of with three or four in his beak. I think it is about 12 days in the nest before the chicks leave the nest and then they are robin shape but speckled brown. Its not till a bit later hey get their red breasts and then a bit at a time which makes them look really funny.
My poor old chap has a bald head on the back again now so I suppose by the end of the season he will only have his wing feather and rail and a few round his bum like last year. He must be at least 4 years old by now.
Cooked my Christmas cake today for Easter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I shall put marzipan on it tomorrow and call it a simnel cake, that'll make him laugh. He is out in the morning again over Graham's to fill in the trenches he dug over the last few days.
Its been quite a treat being on my own in the house. Done just what I wanted.
Glad your feeling better after your sleep Gill. Sandra will enjoy her egg tomorrow. I like the cream eggs but can't eat one all at once. Too sweet.

I think I might as well get the potatoes and veg ready for later,so that will be one less job to do.

Morning from the OLD BUCK !! Evening Kim,
Babies in the nest. Dos was nosey this morning and put her finger on the side of the nest. A small beak touched her finger. The parents were nor around, but I told her she must not touch. She is down the garden filling in the bed with plants that she took the bush out of last week. I knew it wouldn't be empty long. <3 <3 <3
I had an Egg this morning. First time in years, as I don't eat much chocolate. Dos will no doubt eat what I leave.
Have got some summer slacks, shirt and jumper out to put on after I get showered and shaved ready for our lunch out.
Harvey has just rung to wish us a Happy Easter. Which was nice. He is busy stripping wallpaper.
Cloudy and windy morning here, so I don't envy anybody who has gone away to the coast for the holiday weekend.
Hope you are feeling better this morning Gill, and anyone else who is under the weather. Hows Jess's cold Jane ??
See you later in the day I hope.
