Mel Fairy Godmother Report 18 Apr 2017 18:37

Back from shopping and hav'nt put the hsopping away yet as I was so thirsty so I am having my MOW&M. Jane you will have to wash Thomas's beds as I expect he can smell Benjy on them as you say. I don't think it is fair to have Benjy longer than two night either.

Well it has been a beautiful day here with sunshine all day and it has been quite warm with it.

I went up the High ST as I had two cheques to bank and went in one shop, walked long an aisle and spied Aunty Joy at the end just about to go round the corner so I called out "Joy" she turned and saw me and we had a natter. Its her birthday next week and she will be 84. She told me she was'nt having any more birthdays! She still walks into town from a steep hill but gets a taxi back up now and especially if she has shopping. She walks quicker than I do! She was trying to choose new glasses and said she was going back into Specsavers to see if she could find a pair that did'nt have the little gel bit that fit on your nose as they seem to pull on her eyes she said. I know what she means as I have a pair with and a pair without. She dos'nt have to wear glasses all the time. Lucky is'nt she.

Well the shopping won't get put away on its own so I suppose I better get my **** into gear and get on with it.

Curry for him tonight and I bought a nice cherry pie for dessert with a little cream.

M&W gone so see you later.

Afternoon All,

Mel, I often accidentally nick the the live bits of Clematis even when I am intending to chop out the dead stuff. It gets so tangled together it's hard to tell which bits are which.

Yesterday we went to see a church in ruins that OH had spotted on the ordnance survey map. It was a nice ride down part of the old Fosse through some villages we'd never seen before. There is only the tower left of the mediaeval St Laurence's church at Kings Newnham and the rest was demolished in 1700s. When they excavated around in the past it they found some coffins with well preserved embalmed bodies including one with a beheaded body in it! If interested there's more about it here.

When we got back I got stuck into my family tree while the Australian records were free on Ancestry. I managed to glean a few more details about 2 who were convicts and 1 who went to settle there as a tailor with his wife at age 22. The one who was sent to Van Diemens Land in Tasmania spent time in Hobart Prison. He was the one who gave his son the middle name 'Hobart'.

Abbie is a silly girl if she continues smoking. It is herself she will hurt in the long run. I think one of the problems I sussed as a teenager was that my parents always insisted on obedience without argument and never ever saw me as an adult even in my 20s!! My trying to 'reason' particularly with my dad was seen as a child giving him what he would call 'cheek'. He didn't want a reasoned discussion, he just wanted his orders obeyed. :-S I felt my grandma's was the only place with no atmosphere or tension and I could relax there. I never dared tell her anything though in case she told my parents. It's good that Abbie has you to escape to Anne.

I was thinking today about a little brown plastic hen toy I had as a child. You would press it down and as it popped back up it would lay a plastic egg! Did anyone else have one? :-)

Yes Ann I had one years ago but also I have had one since I lived here!! Don't know where it is now though.

Oh has bought another mower today off E Bay. It is not far from where we live and our friend Granham is going to take him down tomorrow evening to collect it.

It will save him having to keep changing over the mowing decks and will be used outside the walled garden on the rougher ground. He said it will be easy for me to drive because you only push a handle forwards or backwards which ever way you want to go.

Sitting here eating a few more of my Easter Chocs.

William Report 18 Apr 2017 22:42

Well folks, today has been great fun as those who check on Facebook for my MEGA Blogathon, a great Easter party at L G where I won the prize for best Easter bonnet ( I didn't intend to be IN the competition) which was an enormous Easter egg, then later we found we had won the prize for guessing how many mini-eggs were in the jar! Daft I call it. It was a great afternoon and the staff all joined in and the singer sang a load of '80's songs.
The OT's were here about 9.435 am and were very pleased with our layout and the equipment already installed here. The main thing is a second stair rail, a bathing stall for the bathroom (a stool with side handles ) and a second walking frame to keep upstairs. The request for the rail will go in and could take a week before they come and fit it. Then it's all down to the OT and physio to say Carmel can come back here where she belongs, and that will be the biggest prize of all for her. The place is full of Get Well cards, except the few at the home, so it will seem like one big celebration (which it will be).
Thanks again for all your support.

So what was the prize for guessing how many eggs were in the jar? Sounds like you both had a great time. we want to see your Easter Bonnet William please?

Here's the text from my Facebook blog yesterday for that's that may not see it. Should have better things to do with my time eh?
Will Roe Linden Grange 18th April - MEGA Blogathon.- Great afternoon as you can see here. Not only did the prize for the best Easter Bonnet come our way (and me a gatecrasher!) but Carmel won the guess the Easter Eggs in the jar competition, her eyesight must be better than mine! (I think we filled in the only vacant slot!!). As you can see, one of the residents has been on the wrong meds and thinks he's a giant rabbit. Shirley Sweet sang to us and we managed clap along until the staff tied our wrists to the chairs..The medicine trolley trolley came round and I think I really must sign us up to their pharmacy, they dispense better stuff than ours. There were a load of kids there (UGH!!) doing a Hunt The Easter Egg thingy, but the residents had been round in advance on their wheel chairs and scoffed the lot.
The 'medicine trolley' was filled with drinks ofd all kinds, no thank you I'm driving !

William Report 19 Apr 2017 10:00

I'll mail out some photos a bit later and the prize for guessing the eggs was the actual jar which was filled with those little mini eggs. I'll include that in the photos.

Morning William and all,

William what great prizes. Did you share the little eggs with the other?

Lovely sunshine again today. Oh is back from his blood test and looks like a pincusion. He has three needle marks in the crease of each arm and on his hands. The doctor had to come in and do it in the end.

He said if he goes out into the waiting room with all these bits of cotton wool on him the next patient will run a mile. It must have been like something in a cartoon. :-S

Think I may have some breakfast this morning as I only had two boiled eggs last night while oh had his curry and we did'nt have any of the cherry pie so toast is on the cards I think.

Anne

Anne Report 19 Apr 2017 12:21

Good morning all

Quite cold here at the moment and there was a frost 1st thing'

So you were lucky to win some Easter prizes William, pleased to hear Carmel is progressing well and should be back home with you where she belongs fairly soon.

How naughty of Thomas to eat the Easter bunny and then to recycle it for you while you were eating Jane, I expect he's glad to see Benji go home. The photos of Hannah and Gareth were great especially the "young lovers" one.

I haven't seen the girls over the weekend so I am wondering if they will come on Sunday. I mentioned to my SIL about the smoking and she mentioned my nephew had now given up and was saving £70.00 a week. I wasn't aware he smoked even.

She also asked me if I had seen another nephew's long term partner's books on Amazon his name is Vincent Vincent and there is also a nice photo of him on there.

Ruby is now getting fussy about her food I have tried 3 different brands of puppy food all of which she liked at first. So I am cooking chicken breasts and I have ordered some coley fish from Sainsbury to arrive tomorrow, also have given her sardines in olive oil, never had this problem with any of my boxers.

Mel I have the same problem as your OH with giving samples off blood there is only one phlebotomist at the surgery that has any luck but even she has to have many attempts some times, being diabetic I also have to test my own blood levels so I also have a difficulty

Afternoon all or is it evening now :-S

Cloudy here today but I didn't mind as I was working in the greenhouse so it wasn't to hot.

I've been so busy these last two days so it's the first chance I've had to come online.

How wonderful to win those prizes Will. I love the photo's you sent me, the one of you and Carmel is such a lovely one. It sounds like you're well on your way to sorting your house out hopefully it won't be to long now before Carmel is back home with you.

Hope you managed to get some rest Frank and feel a bit better now. How are the baby Robins doing?

Sorry to hear Ruby isn't enjoying her puppy food, maybe she prefers the chicken, at least she's still eating something which is a good thing Anne.

So your OH is like a pin cushion Mel, it did sound a bit like a cartoon the way you told the story. You're lucky having the sunshine, mind you it's not cold here so that's something.

Off to sort dinner now, then an early night, I'm shattered with being so busy.

Evening all,

It's been a nice sunny day here but so chilly in the wind ,we had a sharp frost first thing this morning .

William how nice winning the prize for the best Easter bonnet ,i'd love to see the photo's please.
So it shouldn't be to long now before Carmel will be home lets hope it doesn't take to long to get the things sorted in the house .

Hope your feeling better now Frank ,not like you to go back to bed .

So you have been busy in the green house then Gill ,is your OH better now ?

Anne do you moisten the puppy food ? i didn't for Max but my sister was saying they do it that way for Molly ,i wonder if Ruby might like it that way as it would be softer .

Oh Mel poor OH all covered in cotton wool balls ,it did make me smile thinking of him going into the waiting room and everyone looking at him wondering what the heck he had had done :-D

Well i don't know about everyone else but i'm fed up with all this election stuff already and we've weeks to go yet !!!

Well I have tried twice now to post and both have just vanished :-S I have nearly given up

3rd time lucky now..

So here we go.
Mel I did feel sorry for poor OH having to be stabbed so many times to get blood. It must have been a nightmare for him. I am one of the lucky ones where my blood just whooshes out when samples are needed. Got to have my blood taken tomorrow for Liver function before I start anti fungal tablets. GP thinks all my skin 'issues'are to do with the fungal infection I have in my toenails and Athletes foot.A body reaction called autoeczematization !!

Frank ,are you feeling better tonight ? <3

Just love William's pics of all the Easter Celebrations at L.G. That bonnet is brill and I loved the jaunty angle Carmel wore hers :-D They will miss Carmel and William when she goes home.

Anne,Can you try mixing some chicken or fish into Ruby's normal food. Once she gets the taste of fresh Chicken/Fish it will be hard to get her back on the normal doggie food.

I must go now and get cracking with dinner. It is late !!!

Sorry to hear you've had problems posting today Jane, I bet you're glad it finally went through? I still can't get used to it getting darker later and often think it's earlier than it is.

OH is still poorly Mandy, he's so bad with the coughing it's keeping him awake at night so he's so tired during the day, that's why I spent the day in the greenhouse as he was asleep on the sofa and I didn't want to disturb him.

My mum gave me a solar light yesterday but it was sprayed purple.....not my favourite colour and it wasn't sprayed all over and looked odd so I've spent all day in the greenhouse painting it cream, it was supposed to be put in an ornament for the garden but I've been wanting a light for the greenhouse so I popped it onto a glass vase I had with a narrow opening and I frosted the glass part of the light as it's like an old Victorian street light.

I frosted it with TOOTHPASTE......What??? I hear you say, but I saw it on "You Tube. You use a small piece of sponge and dab the toothpaste over the glass, just like you used to do years ago when stippling paint onto a wall. I wasn't sure if it would work but it did and looks really good. It makes the greenhouse smell nice too LOL.

I sit in the greenhouse while I have my cigarette at night and it was so dark in there I was worried I might trip and fall into the glass panels so I needed a light in there and this is brilliant, but the light is a bright white one which glared in my eyes last night, so hopefully the toothpaste frosting will dull it down a bit, I'll find out later when it's dark.

I'm thinking of frosting the vase too so they both match and look like they're supposed to be together. I put some pink stones inside the glass vase to weigh it down a bit, so I'll still see those through the frosting. I also have a tiny bit of pink ribbon around the neck of the vase which I think I'll change to purple as I only painted the top of the light and left the side bits around the glass purple as that was painted properly, this way it'll all match. The ornament part of the gift is in the garden, it's a butterfly in blues and pinks with the odd flower by it. So I ended up with two gifts instead of one in the end with separating them.

Well, Masterchef has been on for half an hour and I haven't been watching it so I'd better go and watch the end before I loose track of what's going on.

I leave you alone and go and do some gardening and Jane turns up with an illness so long it takes a week to type, autoeczematization, trust Jane to get something that long...........

Oh now has very pretty pictures of blue bruises on his arms and hands. He said the docor had to do it in the end. Not sure if I mentioned that before, or I must be repeating myself.

Betqeen the two of us we managed to get the rambling rose tied to the fence in a fashon. HE chopped lots off when I was'nt there but we did get it up on the new old hurdles he put on top of the wall yesterday. He has broken a lot of the long stems on the rose by pushing it back against the fence with the long handled fork. Its the only way to get near it as it has so many thorns that are very pointy. Oh tied it while I held the fork. When he came round to me the other side of the fence he said to me. " The nurse should let me do my own bloods as I don't have trouble getting it out" His hands were covered in blood from the thorns. He only has to have a little scratch and bleeds like billyo.

He then brought the digger over and took out two Hydrangers that were growing over where he put in the new arch last year and there was a hump of earth where he had dug a big hole for the Gunnera last year so thats gone now too and he flattened it out in the corner I have been clearing. It looks much better now and we can seed it so it can be mowed now too.

I had a desarster the other day. Four pairs of black draws on the washing line with loads of other things and a crow had sh*t right over two pairs, four inches long white streaks. In disgust I threw them back in the washing machine. Last night I put in 2 tea towels, his hand towel which was duck eggs blue, my hand towel which was a lovely soft lemon, one of his new white t shirts o and another small towel in a soft peach and 4 flannels, 1 white, 1 duck egg, 1 pale green and a light turquiose one.

I forgot to turn it on last night so did so this morning. Di called in and we had coffee and off she went a bit later and still I forgot to take the washing out of the machine. I did so and the first thing out was my lemon towel with a beautiful dark grey pattern on it. O goodness the next thing out was a pair of black draws!!!!!! What was going to appear next I thought. The peach towel came out next without a spot of grey on it, its only an old one and I would'nt have minded if it had happened to that. next out was the four flannels all without marks on, I just could'nt beleive it when the white t shirt came out perfectly white and the t towels. The only thing out of the whole wash was my hand towel but I must admit the black draws were covered in white fluff off the towels so they will have to go back in for a third wash.............

I have had the towel soaking in oxy action Vanish since it came out of the machine and it has'nt shifted a thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much for that.

Hope you feel better in the morning Frank and get a good nights sleep. x

You've had fun today with the solar light Gill. I have loads of solar lights all around the patio outside the back door and down where I feed the hogs. There is a string of purple daisy lights in my shed right across the front windows. I also use them in the house. They are on the windowsill in the bedroom all day as it faces south and then in the afternoon I swop them to the west window in there and then before I go to bed I put them in the hall and the bathroom so we can see when we get up in the night as we are so far out in the middle of knowhere it is pitch black at night when the moon dos'nt shine.

Going to watch Tuscany on catch up now and then bed.

Night night.

Morning All,

Another dry day this morning with hazy sunshine at the moment.

Oh is out on the fresh mower murdering some lawn somewhere. I can hear him but can't see him. Has has a few things to do to this fresh mower as the chap who had it before modified it a bit and ran the baring on the grass box roller into the ground. All thats left of it is the outer ring.

I need to sow some seeds today.

Frank

Frank Report 20 Apr 2017 11:23

Good morning to you all, Evening Kim,

Dull ol' morning here. Rain during the night after me do the watering yesterday evening.

Ros had a disaster in the greenhouse yesterday. We think a cat chased a bird into the greenhouse and knocked over her three tier frame thing ,that holds all the seed trays and small pots of seedlings. There were all over the floor and the frame in pieces. (they slot together) They must have had a right old set too. It took the both of us a couple of hours retrieving everything and rebuilding the frame. We have tied it to the greenhouse frame now. So hopefully it won't happen again.

I am still feeling as though my legs don't belong to me. the right leg (stroke one) is tingling with nerves and getting cramp. The left one is turning in the shin area under the knee cap.

Madam is just back from the Nurse (blood test) While there she asked the nurse about the new tablets she has been given. Her face was swollen and very hot when she woke this morning. She has an allergy to something in them, and was told she needed to see the Doctor before she left. The doctor was surprised by the swelling and heat in her face. Needless to say she told her to stop them, and gave her antibiotics to take for the next week.

Ros was due to go to Birmingham on Saturday with a coach load of women from the village. She has found out that it includes a lot of walking, as it's round a lot of museums. She has cancelled. As she said if they had explained this, she would never have booked.

Oh dear Mel, Black pants in with other things, didn't you use a "colour catcher" ?? Ros puts one in every wash. I bet OH was well scratched after that job. I am lucky my veins stand right up to attention, are it's easy to get blood from me.

Hope you get the food for Ruby sorted out Anne, it might be a good idea to moisten the food as Mandy said. She might find it a bit difficult to chew, being a puppy.

Getting all arty then Gill, we must have a look when you take a photo.

Green Thumb are here doing my Spring treatment to the lawns, I just say for a fiver a month, the lawn is totally free from any weeds and keeps it's colour between quarterly treatments. I would say I have the best lawns in the close. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I don't think Ros will be working outside today, so the sewing machine will be whirling away I expect. I will settle down with my book, only another 1,500 pages to go. That will be part three of four finished. !!!!

Hope you all have a good day, and BE GOOD. !!!
