Morning all,

Suns in and out here but mostly out but it is a bit on the chilly side.

Shopping day today and I am going to Bideford.

It was so nice to here from Liz and I'm glad they are getting someoone in to help Ian with the garden now Liz can't do it.

I love The Last Kingdom but think it is the last one this week, boo hoo. Think Uhtred is a dish.

Morning all

sunny here today but quite cold with the breeze.

Yes, Mel, I've put your card with the other's ready for Friday, I've been given quite a few for her now but wanted to keep them until her birthday or she wouldn't of had anything to open on her big day.

I'm having a relaxing day today, OH is starting to feel a little better now he's sleeping and not awake most of the night coughing. He still has a sore throat but that is the virus and will go when it's ready.

I want to watch Gogglebox but it has a programme on it that Sandra follows, so she is watching that first then I can watch my programme. I've never seen Gogglebox before but came across it the other day when flicking through the channels and found it really funny so now I'm hooked. :-D I do have to record it though otherwise I'll forget it's on with just starting to watch it.

Good morning All

Very chilly here today but sunny at the moment.

That was such a nice photo of you all enjoying your get together Jane and so pleased for you that you got on well with Gareth's parents and to have Janice join you, now you can have a good chat with her this week. I would have loved to have had a sister and a daughter but fortunately have a lot on Peter's side with his 2 sisters and several SIL's, and many nieces and great nieces.

I wouldn't like snakes as a pet either or though I don't mind them but prefer something you can give a cuddle to, I think one of the snakes is a milk snake can't remember what the other one was called but will find out next Sunday. It's spiders I can't take to although I wouldn't kill one.

Sorry to here your OH hasn't been at all well Gill and hopefully the antibiotics will make his recovery get better quicker. I have put Sandra's card in the post yesterday but I only had a 2nd class stamp so hope it arrives it in time. I enjoy watching Goggle Box as well but don't always get to see it.

Ruby went to the veterinary nurse yesterday, she had another worm tablet, her weight was as it should be and everything else checked out ok. She advised that I tried feeding her Royal Canin Junior for small dogs, I was surprised at the small amount per day, 80 grams moistened with hot water and given over several feeds a day, so far so good I am mixing some chicken or coley in with it. I was able to buy this at the surgery with a refund given if she doesn't eat it.

We haven't had anyone canvassing for the election around here but maybe because it's a very strong Conservative seat,

Afternoon all,

I haven't poked my nose out yet, but must say that wind looks cold !!

Another bad night for me. I was in bed by 10.30. Ros came in at 12.30 and I was still wide awake. I got up and watched Tele until 3.45 am and was awake again at 7.00 Needless to say I feel a total wreck. I have a lot on my mind at the moment, so that can't be helping.

Mel, I am very lucky when it comes to giving blood. My veins stand right up and the nurse has no trouble at all.

I had every intention of doing the lawns today, but not in the mood for anything.

How nice the Vets supply the Dog Food, and will refund you if Ruby doesn't like it. Supermarkets should try that for their customers, it might make me more adventurous with the food I eat. ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) Can't see it happening though.

So pleased that your children are happy with their partners Jane. Is it likely to be a DOUBLE WEDDING ???? That would be so nice. !!

Gill, I know it's no consolation but, Martine has had this terrible throat cough since January. I can hardly recognise her voice when she rings Ros.

Ros is out with Carolyn. I told her not to be out to long, and not do a lot of walking. But it will be like water off a ducks back I expect.

Minted lamb steaks, Jersey Royals and general Veg for tonight. Which I will get ready later.

Have a safe afternoon all.

Gillx Report 25 Apr 2017 16:54

So it's dog food pie for dinner tonight then Frank LOL :-D :-D

I know what you mean, human food and you're right if people could try it knowing they could get a refund if they didn't like it then they would try lots of different things. Somewhere along the line people would like other things and the supermarkets would then make more sales rather than refunds.

Pleased to hear Ruby is eating better now Anne and that her weight hasn't been effected. Is she at an age where she is teething? maybe her gums are sore and that's why she wasn't keen on some of the dog food. It looks like the softer food you have now is more suitable.

I think I'm starting with OH's sore throat, I'm not feeling to good at the moment and also have another headache. I keep going outside to wake myself up I'm that tired. If I sleep now I won't sleep properly tonight.

It's very quiet on here today

Going to get a cuppa now, I'm quite thirsty today for some reason.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Apr 2017 17:15

BAck from shopping but I hav'nt unpacked everything yet.

Gill said it was quieter on here today so I thought I better post something.

Oh said doc said he has mild diabetes (sp) he has to have an MRI scan too. Was told he has to lose weight and oh said if he did'nt have this hernia he would be more active so would lose weight. The doc had told him ages ago it was'nt big enough to operate on but it is now!! He had a right go at the doc apparently. The doc had asked him to make this second appointment and when he went in doc said to him "How may I help you?" Oh said he should have read his notes before the patient came in and then he would know.

Afternoon All

LOL Frank I thought you said you hadn't PICKED your nose out yet :-D :-D
Hope you get a decent night sleep tonight.
Anne,it sounds like this Royal Canin Junior might just be the right food for Ruby .Fingers crossed
:-D

Gill,it sounds like OH is slowly on the mend now .He must feel pretty fed up now after having one thing after another.
I will wish Sandra a very Happy Birthday for Friday now just incase I don't get the chance on the day.I don't know what time we will be back home from Hay on Wye.
I hope she enjoys her Birthday <3 <3

We had a little bit of sleet earlier, but no snow. Janice's daughter said there was snow in Tewkesbury for a while this afternoon. It still looks a bit iffy here and it is very windy.
I just want it to be dry when we are away .Don't mind if it is cold though. I am all packed, just need to put the toilet bag in .

Janice and I took Thomas to the Cattery about 12 o clock . I was supposed to take him at 2 but he came in from hunting about 11 and I rang to see if he could go a little earlier . He is the third Thomas there now !!. One is another Black and White and the other a big Ginger. My Thomas is in the next pen to a Mancun Cat called Boris. What a beauty he is.They can see eachother through the perspex sneeze bar.Neither seemed at all bothered :-)

No Frank,no double wedding ..No weddings at all for the forseeable, other than Janice's son Matthew on the 2nd September.

Did you have a good shopping day in Bideford Mel?. Is it Morrisons you go to there?

Anne,I got some Youngs Lemon and Herb Basa today
:-D :-D

Raining now but looks a bit sleety. Just doing Tesco Finest Chicken Kievs,Parmentier Potatoes, and Mushrooms,Chantenay Carrots and Asparagus. Then no more cooking for 3 days :-D :-D

If I don't get back before we go in the morning I will see you all again probably Friday night. But I expect I will be back :-)

Your OH has got a point Mel, if the doctor told him to make an appointment then he should of known why he was there and like you said he should of read the notes before he saw him. I bet the doctor felt silly when your OH gave him what for. So is he having the op now, if he is wish him well from me <3

I've taken a pain killer and my headache is finally going.

We've just had some hail stones here, what is the weather like everywhere else?

Gillx Report 25 Apr 2017 18:05

Hi Jane didn't see you there. I'll pass on your birthday wishes to Sandra, have a great time away, hope the weather isn't to bad. It sounds like Thomas is going to have a nice friend to play with while you're away. See you when you get back. <3

Evening all,

When i woke at 6-30 this morning it was snowing !!! we have seen some sun and then it really clouded up late this afternoon and we had hail now it's raining .

Anne , Royal Canin was the food we fed Max on when he first came home ,they don't have very much of it at all ,i know when i first weighed it out for Max i thought it was a very small amount for him to have , he was on four meals a day then so split over the our meals it really didn't look much at all, i hope Ruby likes it ,handy that you can get a refund if she doesn't .

Jane ,lovely photo of you all together on sunday ,it's nice that you all get on together ,i too wondered if you would soon be buying a hat !! ;-) :-D
Have a great time away ,i hope the weather stays dry for you .

Your poor OH Gill still poorly and now it sounds as if you might be coming down with it too, lets hope Sandra doesn't get it she won't want to feel poorly on her birthday .

Lovely photo's Ann ,the dear little calfs ,i think cows have lovely eyes , nice close up of the tulip.

So OH has mild diabetes then Mel ,hopefully the doc can keep an eye on him so he doesn't full blown diabetes, will he have the hernia done ?

Frank Report 25 Apr 2017 18:38

Evening all,

We have had snow/sleet and rain. The north wind is blowing it's head off. Best place tonight is by the fire and Tele.

Sorry to hear your OH has diabetes Mel. Will he have to go on tablets now ?? I too hate it when you go to an appointment at the Dr. When they ask "What can I do for you" Stupid bugg@@s read my notes. !!!

Have a nice few days away Jane, not to much wine, and behave yourself.

Gill, It seems that when one in the family get something, you all do. Hope you feel better tomorrow after a good nights sleep.

Dinner was a winner tonight. I did loads of veg, and part boiled them. Then covered them in oil and that Roast vegetable mix. It was to die for. When Carolyn saw it this afternoon while I was preparing it, she said "you will never eat all that" how wrong could she be. The lamb steaks just seemed to melt in the mouth and the Jersey's were very nice.

Was thinking of going to watch the football at the pub tonight, but have changed my mind.

Annx Report 25 Apr 2017 21:43

Evening All,

Hope you enjoy your break Jane and that the weather stays dry for you. :-)

We had sun this morning, then small hailstones as I went to Nuneaton and just after I got back it got windy and we had sleet and heavy rain. It's stopped now but OH went out in it to go to a match.......bonkers!! lol.

Mel I bet your OH was disappointed to hear that news from his GP this morning. I never think it's wise to get on the wrong side of your doctor in case you need him to go the extra mile for you some time. I know it's frustrating when you are asked to go back and they ask 'How can I help' as it's happened to me a few times, but sometimes they may hardly have had time to read your notes if they've had to spend extra time with a previous patient. I know from my own job that you could hardly turf a weeping widow out of an interview room just because your next appointment was due. If your OH is pre diabetic I think they usually try lifestyle changes first to see if it can be prevented. That means changes to the diet and the 'big breakfast' as well as losing weight, more activity and stopping smoking. At least if they now do his hernia it will help as he says. OH had to have one done years ago and it's a job to find the scar now.

As well as the diabetes research I was asked and have today joined the heart research mailing list as they are now running those and also the lung research unit as one instead of seperately. The lady I usually deal with and who attends the meetings I go to will do it for all 3 and said she was really pleased to have me on both lists which makes you feel you are doing something worthwhile to help.. :-)

I seem to have had the start of a sore throat yesterday and today, but it hasn't actually got sore. It just feels dry and tickly. I woke up in the night with one cheek red hot and the other chilly and had to open the window wider although it was cold. Fingers crossed it will fade away without getting worse.

That's good the vet will refund you if Ruby doesn't like that food Anne. It sounds like she is eating enough for the vet to be happy with her weight though which is good.

I hope you don't get what your OH has Gill and that you soon feel better. I said a little while ago that I sometimes watch Gogglebox. I like Giles and Mary, the posh ones!! lol

Mandy those cow mothers were watching me and their baby calves like a hawk. I wouldn't have gone into the field!! I like their eyes too and the long eyelashes they have.

Morning All,

I slept quite well last night but woke with my throat sore today. I hope it doesn't turn into something nasty like last year. :-S OH has gone off to a meeting being held at a golf club this morning.........I bet there will be nibbles provided!! When he gets back later we will go and eat somewhere. I was up quite early and have emptied the bottom of a wardrobe out and had a good sort out of the shoes and a couple of bags of clothes I'd forgotten were there. I have 2 long flat plastic boxes with wheels I keep in there and they were full of shoes and slippers. I hoovered it all out and it looks much tidier now. I found a few pairs of shoes to add to the current charity shop bag I have been filling so I shall pop to the charity shop next after calling in the newsagents. :-) The sun seems to be out but I doubt it will last.

Morning Ann and all,

Suns out here and there is not quite so much breeze today. Still chilly though.

Been up the village to the post van and done my duty. Oh has the new old mower going and he met me coming up the drive as I was coming down so the new starter moter and things he has done to it must be right thank goodness.

Now I must do my daily challenges and get some washing in.

We had our leccy smart meter fitted this morning and I have a little screen in the kitchen telling me how much we are using each time I turn something one. During the day it only registers if I turn the kettle on as we have the solar panels and the sun is shining but it will be interesting to see what happens at night or on a dull day.

Enjoy your meal out Ann.

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Have been busy on line to HMRC trying to get forms filled out for Ros to claim tax on my pension. They want so much information. I almost ask if they wanted my inside leg measurement LOL LOL.

Still a lot of wind here, and very cold. The cloud seems to be getting thicker, so I expect we will see rain later. We won't be going out, that's for sure.

Just had my shower, eellike a wet week now. Will take mw half hour to get over it, then I can have a shave.

I don't think we will be making the journey to Spain this year. By the time we leave here and arrive at Conrads it best part of FIVE HOURS. and it's getting to much for me as well as Ros. So might do something in this Country.

Hope all you sick people are making progress. Meant in the nicest possible way. <3 <3 <3 I woke this morning with a headache and a stuffy head, so hope it's not a cold coming.

Spoke with my sister, she didn't get to the stroke unit at the hospital, due to a very bad tummy. She is in bed most of the day now, apart from the toilet. I do hope that nothing serious is going on. :-( :-(

We have had rain and sleet again this morning. I went to the bin earlier and it's freezing cold in that wind.

Shin of beef tonight, with Jersey's and veg. I don't know if madam would like a rice pudding, I will have to ask. It can cook away in the bottom of the over while the casserole is in the oven.
