I felt awful when i saw him come out Ann ,he had such a sad look on his face and i thought what have we put him through ,at the moment he's sleeping like he usually does with his head on my feet ,only this time it's the lamp shade on my feet with the edge of it digging into my leg :-S every now and then he gives a little whine :-(
I'm hoping the lamp shade will come off when we go back to the vets on tuesday as he's bumping into everything .

Glad your about Gill ,we were wondering if you were ok , so it's been a nice day out for Sandra spending her birthday money and now home for her chocolate cake ,carn't be bad .

Annx Report 28 Apr 2017 20:57

I bet he doesn't quite feel himself yet Mandy and the little whine will get him a bit of the fuss he wants just now. :-) The lampshades are restrictive aren't they but I suppose it can come off for a short time when you can watch him. Otherwise it would have to be a doggy chastity belt!! :-D

I expect Sandra had a great time spending some of her birthday money and will love the DVD.

It sounds like you had a nice break with decent weather Jane. I like to get the washer on as soon as I'm home too, but I couldn't face getting dinner.

Liz your Montana Clematis is fabulous!!

Poor Max he does look down in the dumps do you think he knows what you have done to him? He will be better in the morning when he has got rid of the anaesthetic but he is not going to like that lampshade. Bless..... :-(

Glad you had a lovely couple of days away Jane.

Sounds like Sandra has had a very nice day and enjoyed spending her birthday money and all her cards and presents. She will also enjoy her new DVD having read the books. <3

Just off to bed, but thought I would welcome home Jane.

F & C were very nice. Chips just came out of the fryer as I walk ed in, so nice and fresh.

Glad MAX is sorted (poor boy). Those lampshades were great when Penny our black poodle had an operation. She could put the lampshade over her food dish and stop Holly getting to is. She was a little brown poodle.

Se you in the morning.

Morning all,

Dull and cloudy here but it is dry so I suppose thats good.

Shall go up the shop for the paper this morning but nothing else planned for the day.

Hope you all had a better night last night and slept well. I went out like a light last night and got up once for the loo about 5am I think and straight back to bed and slept till 8am. then just lay for a while.

Frank Report 29 Apr 2017 10:17

Morning Mel, and all, Evening Kim,

Iffy sort of night. Was awake when Ros came in, and was awake a lot during the night.

Nothing special in the way of weather. I haven't been out yet. But the breeze is blowing and no sign of sunshine.

Forgot to mention yesterday. Harvey paid for Lewis's car insurance last year (his first year) The renewal came this week and was much reduced premium. Harvey said he wold pay it again this year for him, but Lewis wrote a cheque and paid it himself. What a good lad he is. He works every weekend and saves a lot of what he earns.

Ironing board is up, and washing basket on the sofa, ready for me to tackle as soon as Ros goes to meet Martine. Any minute now !!! My instructions are not to touch her tops and trousers.

Right I have the place to myself, so onwards and upwards.

See you later.

I got up to myself Frank. Oh was out getting petrol for the mowers. It was that long till he came back though.

I do like a bit of time to myself but don't get much of it now oh is nearly always in.

I bet Sandra enjoyed her DVD last night.

Good morning all

Frank I had to smile when I read what your poodle did to keep her food bowl safe as
that's exactly what one of our Boxers did after her Op

How is young Max this morning Mandy? I hope he isn't too sore

Just about to cook Richard some breakfast, he's just got up!!

Afternoon All,

Me too Mel, I slept though from about 12.30am till 8.45am and was a bit late taking my tablets. I feel much better for it now and the sore throat is well on the way out as well. :-)

I wish I had a bit more time to myself as well, but I know we should be thankful as some never see their partners or don't have one and wish they did. Mine is a bit better than when he first retired, but still interrupts me in whatever I'm trying to do, even just reading the paper. He has the concentration of a gnat himself unless he is really focussed on the work stuff he does.

I had to smile at your Boxer Anne and your little poodle Frank. They are such bright little dogs aren't they! :-) I wonder how Max is getting on today.

Well, of all things we seem to have a 'Bee' problem in the brickwork under the bedroom window. I thought they were mortar bees as that is where they have made a hole but these look like smaller, round bumblebees and we saw about half a dozen of them flying in and out. I don't want them getting in the bedroom!!
:-0

MillymollyAmanda Report 29 Apr 2017 13:32

Afternoon all ,

Dry here but it's now clouded over so I've just got the washing in as it's nice and dry.

What a night we had, poor Max was whining most of the night ,i came down and let him out about six and he wanted water as he couldn't get water from his bowl in his crate with this lamp shade on.
I made a cup of tea and took that up to bed ,when i came down half an hour later the lamp shade was off !! and he had had a good old chew on it!! so thats gone in the bin.
I went into the vets to see what else we could use as it would be no good putting another one on as he would get that off again so i bought a blow up ring collar it fits onto his collar and has a velcro strap ,so we'll see how he goes with that it should give him a bit more freedom to move with the lampshade he couldn't even get to his paws ,he isn't touching the wound so I haven't put it on him yet ,i think i'll put it on at night or if we go out but while we're here we can keep an eye on him.
He's had his painkiller and anti inflammatory, it's in liquid form to squirt onto his food .

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 29 Apr 2017 13:38

Oh blimey Ann you don't want those bees getting in good job you spotted them before you got to many in there ,can you get a spray to get rid of them although its a shame to do it really as our bees are getting in short supply .

Well Colin turned the tele on to watch the grand prix and now he's watching the back of his eyelids !!

Jane Report 29 Apr 2017 14:01

Afternoon All
I am glad that Sandra enjoyed her day out for her birthday spending her birthday money :-D.Bet she enjoyed her Pizza and cake too :-D :-D

Ann,we have what I think are Masonry Bees in the brick wall at the side of the Summerhouse. They are right down at almost ground level. But I think they are harmless and don't sting.

I did have to smile at the thought of your dog covering his food dish with the lampshade collar Anne :-D..I often wonder how they actually manage to reach the dishes to get the food.
Hopefully Max slept the night and is feeling a bit more himself now.Although he is likely to still be feeling a bit sorry for himself .

DON'T Touch Ros's TOPS and TROUSERS Frank ;-). Is it because you won't iron them the way Ros likes? I have a pile of ironing building up here now :-S

Well I collected Thomas just after 10am.He was all curled up in his bed .I know he is pleased to be home again. But think he might have a bit of a tummy ache as he has been trying to eat grass. Maybe a bunny or 2 will do the trick LOL. He has wandered off somewhere now.
I've done a quick shop in Tesco ,just to get some potatoes and veg and a few odds and sods. I will do the Lamb Steaks I bought in Hay tonight.

My poor fingertips are very sensitive and starting to break down a bit today,so in a minute I will put the steroid tapes on .My finger nails are such a mess with this psoriasis,I try and hide them from view.I am still worried that I could lose a couple but they are hanging on. I think driving yesterday for a couple of hours holding the steering wheel hasn't helped the skin.

Hannah is moving out of her place this weekend so will be busy packing and sorting out what to take to Gareth's and what to go in storage. They have found a flat in Stroud Green which they like and have put a holding deposit on it ready to move in at the end of May.

Did Richard have a late night Anne ,or is it just a Saturday lie in after a week at work?
Chris was awake and up just after 6 this morning .Which woke me :-S.He was full of beans, when normally he is NOT a morning person. It was chat chat chat.In the end I had to tell him to get off downstairs and leave me in peace.

I know what you mean Ann and Mel,about enjoying a bit of time on your own without having interuptions every 5 minutes .. It is "Are you there",or "Have you got a minute"
Chris gets quite exasperated when I do the same thing to him :-D

I didn't see any TV when we were away so I don't know what I have missed .I did watch Missing this morning on the laptop in bed.It was so lovely to see the elderly man Archie found alive after 2 or 3 days.I really thought that it was going to end with them finding his body.

Right I am going to find these tapes and sort my fingers out.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Apr 2017 14:50

I watched that Missing with Archie. I too was so pleased when they found him alive. I really thought he would be dead. He had a lovely old face did'nt he.

A friend of ours died today. Norman the undertaker. He taught us to ring with Ali all those years ago. He was 97 so we have another funeral to go to soon and this one is going to be REALLY BIG with all the ringers and family. His son took over the business a few years ago when Norman lose a leg, then he lost the other one. I saw him at the last funeral we went to and he looked really frail then. He had broken his hip and was taken to Barnstaple Hospital and he died there.

Annx Report 29 Apr 2017 14:56

Well that made me burst out laughing about Colin watching the back of his eyelids Mandy!! lol :-D I must remember that! Poor Max must have had a dry mouth with all the anaesthetic and must have felt better after a drink. He let you know what he thought of the lampshade, must have thought he'd get rid of it! The blow up ring sounds much better and it's good you can leave it off while you can watch him. Did he have any stitches? Maybe the wound won't bother him if he didn't which would be good.

Jane your poor fingers and nails. Is it painful? I imagine it must be difficult to do a lot of things, even doing up your bra!! You must be nervous of catching the nails and them coming off like that as well.

I hadn't realised H & G were moving in together right now. lol. It is a good idea having a fresh flat though, rather than moving into each other's place. They will be very busy sorting all of their stuff out.

Jane

Jane Report 29 Apr 2017 14:59

Mandy ,as you are with Max all the time at the moment,I wouldn't bother with the collar thing (unless he starts mithering the wound). Maybe tonight to be on the safe side the new thing you bought might be a good idea. When Thomas had his big leg op last year he had a lampshade ,but I left it off after the first day as he was so miserable, and he didn't bother at all with his stitches. At least Max's stitches are under the skin so he can't pull them out. I think he made it quite clear by chewing his that he really did not want that on LOL

Have you switched the TV over to what you want to see if OH is watching the inside of his eyelids :-D :-D

I was thinking of your Nicko the other day. For a while now there has been a chap sitting on the ground outside the little Co-op.He does look a sorry sight. When Janice was here and I just popped in the shop for some bread I asked him if he would like me to buy him any food. He said he was fine but really could do with some deodorant .
(Hope I have not already told you this ) So I bought him a roll on one rather than a spray just in case he sniffed. I said I got the roll on as it wouldn't take up space in his little bag.He was so pleased and grateful and even gave us a wave as I drove out of the carpark.
Thomas is back again. In and out like a Yoyo and miaowing sooo much. He has gone again now !!!!!!!!. Just all a bit unsettled I think. He did have a little bit to eat which was good. I bet he will be back again very soon.In one door and out the other.

Goodness Ann, I was just seeing what you said about the little boy and his baby Sister !!!! :-0... It does make you wonder why he would behave in that way .All very worrying and a difficult situation for you to witness and not know whether to say anything to the Mum.I keep thinking what would I have done...I am not sure :-S

I have just got a pic of the Jay on the window feeder. If it is ok I will forward it on. It is a big bird !!!

Afternoon all

Nice and sunny here today, I've made a start on re-potting some of my plants, I bought some bigger black pots yesterday and have re-potted one up to now, there's another two or three to go which I'll do tomorrow as we're watching the F1 qualifying at the moment. I bought some seed potatoes yesterday so will use the old pots to plant them in.

Pleased to hear your sore throat is getting better now Ann, hope your OH is okay now. I'm feeling much better and OH is almost there now, so hopefully neither of us will feel ill again for a while. It seems to be one thing after another lately, but we've put it down to stress with OH's brother's being so ill. Pleased to say both of them are now on the mend, which has eased the worry for both of us. Thanks for letting us know about FMP opening their records this weekend, I will take a look later. I'm having trouble trying to find some siblings all from the same family, I did find one son who had changed his surname but a few of the others seem to have disappeared I even tried using the new surname but with no luck. So hopefully if I try again later I might find something. Sorry to hear you have bees, hope they don't get into your bedroom, that's the last thing you want isn't it?

So this thread has been going for 9 years, that's a long time. From the date you mentioned Mandy the thread started a couple of weeks after we moved into our bungalow. Doesn't time fly :-) Did you get your new conservatory chairs? Glad to hear Max's op went well. I'm sure he won't be sleepy for to long. the blow up ring sounds a better option rather than the lampshade, as like you said he'll probably managed to take the next one off if you had gone down that route. Hope he's more comfortable soon, it's hard to hear them when they are wining knowing there isn't much you can do.....the poor thing.

It's nice that Carmel is home now William <3 At least you won't need to make the long journey anymore.

How nice that Ruby is enjoying her walks with you Anne, how is she getting on with her eating, hope that's improved for her. Hope the original driver for Sainsbury's is okay, it sounds like it was a bad fall if they had to get someone else to deliver your shopping. How horrible to see a rat in the garden, there was one in our neighbours garden last year but thankfully we never saw it in ours. We have seen up to four hedgehogs in the evenings in our garden which is lovely to see.

It sounds like your OH has been busy Mel with the old new mower and the well. How is your knee now? That's lovely that Robbie is eating from your hand. how come he's losing his feathers? Sorry to hear about your friend.

Just finished watching the F1 qualifying so I can catch up with more posts now.

It sounds like the Beadle was very keen to have the treats off you Frank, I'm sure he didn't mean to nip your thumb. Hope it feels a bit better today. Pleased to hear all went well for Ros. I had to laugh when you mentioned Penny covering up her food with the lampshade around her neck, I don't suppose she knew she was doing it but at least she got to eat all her food without Holly taking any. Clever girl if she did realise what she was doing. How nice of Lewis to pay his own car insurance, he sounds very responsible. Nice of Harvey to offer though.

We didn't get the time to watch the DVD last night Mel, so we're going to watch it when I've finished this post. Sandra and I like to watch our soaps and we also had other things on the planner Sandra wanted to watch, so by the time we'd watched all that we were to tired to watch anything else so went to bed. I think it's better to watch DVD's when you're not so tired then you don't fall asleep and loose track of what's going on.

Pleased to hear you had a nice time away Jane. Sorry to hear about your fingers, don't over do things helping with the packing it might make them worse. I bet Hannah and Gareth are excited about moving into their new place.

I think I've finally caught up with everything now, sorry if I've missed anyone out. Going to watch the DVD with Sandra now, she's been very patient waiting for me to catch up with the posts on here, bless her, so I'd better get going.

Young GIRL be blowed. !!! You have always been a young lady to me. LOL

Well I got all the ironing done with the exception of her Royal Highness's. I then got the mower out and cur both lawns. Dos came in as I just finished. We had a bit of lunch, and I have sat in the chair for the afternoon. CREAM CRACKERED. Cramp in my left leg , pain in my right shoulder and arm.

We are having an Indian tonight for a change. Pork tomorrow, and Lamb when Hrvey and Julia come on Monday.

I see you all have been busy. I'm pleased Sandra enjoyed her Birthday.

What a coincidence Mel. Julia's friend NORMAN (Work mate) died last Thursday aged 45. He was on dialaise (sp) when he had a massive heart attach. Leaves a wife and two children.

Going to get the plates and cutlery ready for our Takeaway.
