Afternoon all,

Much better day today we have some lovely warm sun shine, we've been to the Age Concern shop to drop some bits and pieces off , then on to the tip to drop off some garden rubbish ,we then went to Roys to get some Grow Bags and Compost, i must remember to ring up to get the Mushroom Compost
Colin's brother was saying the other day that they put Guinea Pig muck on their garden it's suppose to be good stuff and they have a lovely garden and grow some good produce.

Oh Mel it seems a long old night when your clock watching but you did get a lay in this morning so that helped a little .

Got some weeding to do this afternoon so that will fill the tubs up again we emptied this morning.

The winds blowing a gale down here. The washing has wrapped itself round the top bars of the gazebo thing outside the back door.

Just answere the phone and there was nobody there........

Washed all the hog bowls that were building up on the patio. Washed two of the bantams drinkers so they can now go in the shed. Got lunch and eaten that and watched Doctors and had a phone call during that something about BT which oh answered and talked for ages.

Now I am about to wash up the lunch things and then do some ironing.

Mndy is the mushroom compost in bags when you get it? We used to have a place outside Holsworthy that sold off their used mushroom compost for 50p a bag. Not sure if the place is still there now and I don't go that way anymore. I used to take mum to Bernie's warehouse place there where he lived but he retired and sold the hsop in Holsworthy and moved to Bude. we used to get some good things in his warehouse as the shop was one of those that sold just about everything. Still using some plates we bought in there and my soft broom and under pillow cases and many more bits and peices. Christmas time we used to get lots of decs and candles when I did the arrangements when I had the nursary and I stillhave some boxes of bulb bowls I bought in there. I should see if I can sell thoe to Muriel who now does the plants at the shop.

Words to that song that came into my head this morning in my opening post.

Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons

Oh, what a night
Late December back in sixty three
What a very special time for me
As I remember, what a night

Oh, what a night, you know I didn't even know her name
But I was never gonna be the same
What a lady, what a night
Oh, I, I got a funny feelin' when she walked in the room
Oh my, as I recall it ended much too soon

Oh what a night, hypnotizin' mesmerizing me
She was ev'rything I dreamed she'd be
Sweet surrender, what a night
I felt a rush like a rollin' ball of thunder
Spinnin' my head around n' takin' my body under

Oh, what a night
Oh, I, I got a funny feelin' when she walked in the room
Oh my, as I recall it ended much too soon

Oh, what a night
Why'd it take so long to see the light
Seemed so wrong, but now it seems so right
What a lady, what a night

I felt a rush like a rollin' ball of thunder
Spinnin' my head around n' takin' my body under
Oh what a night
Oh what a night
Oh what a night
Oh what a night

Now you can all have it on your brain for the rest of the day like I have.....
:-S

Evening All

I have that song on my mind now Mel :-D.I loved Frank Valli .

Chris has just gone to collect Hannah from the hairdressers. Her appointment was at 3 so she must have had colour and cut done. She went straight from the railway staion .Gareth won't be here until about 8 ,so a late dinner for us tonight. James wasn't home until 10 last night so I hope he is much earlier tonight.

I have noticed the little birds pecking around in the guttering and on the summerhouse too .There must be good tasty insects .

Not a good hand day.Everything is peeling and hard scaly skin. Chris had done the potatoes and veg for me.I think he is getting used to all these extra household chores LOL.
Mel ,I have Dermovate cream, that stuff like your Doublebase and Fludroxycortide tape (which looks like clear sellotape) for my hands. When I cleaned the big bathroom,I had the cotton gloves on underneath the rubbergloves. Chris says to wait and see how my hands are when we are away when I won't be using them like now ,then if I am not seeing any improvement by the time we get home to make another appointment.
I must get on and clear this table and get it set for later.

Oh Hannah is here :-D

Evening all, Yes Mel nothing worse than lying awake most of the night. I am a champion at it. ;-) ;-) ;-) Glad you at least dropped of for a few hours.Try to sleep well tonight. Have you tried Boots "MUFFLES" they shut out all outside noise. So you wouldn't be kept awake by OH snoring.

Been a real cold day here, we haven't been out. The way the wind is blowing, I won't be going to see West Ham V Spurs. That will be a first.

I am feeling like a load of @@@t. My right hip is so painful, and my knee under the kneecap is aching like mad. I have felt so off today, that I haven't even shaved. !!! I feel I just want to curl up and be on my own. Poor old me. :-( :-( :-(

Jane, You do sound in a poor old way, I do hope you get some rest bite from it while on holiday. You see WE MEN are useful sometimes.Good old Chris looking after the veg preparation. How would he like to do it all the time ??

I am ready for a couple of beers, before going to my bed and the radio.

See you in the morning.

Evening all

Lovely and sunny again but it seems to be cooling down day by day. I've spent the whole day in the garden starting off with the front garden where I moved two plants then when it got a bit hot I moved to the back garden where it's a bit cooler and re-potted some of my cutting as the roots were starting to come out of the bottom of the pots. OH has watered the garden, then we had dinner and now we are finally relaxing and watching a bit of TV.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling to good Jane and Frank, hope you both start to feel better soon.

I went to see "Oh What a night" the musical, years ago in Blackpool with OH, it was brilliant Mel. I love that song :-)

Pleased to hear you have had some nice weather Mandy and can get out in your garden. Guinea Pig muck, I can't say I've heard of putting that in the garden but from what you were saying it seems to do the trick. ;-)

Annx Report 5 May 2017 20:57

Evening All,

I have several Frankie Valli CDs in the car Mel. I love Sherry Baby too! That wasn't fair of your doctor to blame you for being late when you were already in the surgery. I hadn't realised your rash was a reaction to midge bites! It's good your liver is ok now though. Is it because of affecting the liver test results that you can't have caffeine, alcohol etc?

I had a good sleep last night and went to the start of this term's beading class this morning. I nearly had to come home again as I thought I hadn't got some of the beads I needed. I did think about ringing OH to bring them, but he wouldn't know one bead from another! :-S Then I found them after all in a box I don't usually use.

Your poor hands sound a right mess Jane. I hope Chris is right and that not using them on your holiday might help them improve.

Frank, do you think this spurt on the garden has aggravated things for you. I know as soon as I make a start in the Spring it seems to make everything ache. Hopefully the rest today will help. I have had more knee aches like bruising today and had had enough by the time we'd gone round a garden centre this afternoon. I keep doing the strengthening exercises sometimes twice a day and they are stronger and don't creak as much. I think being heavier now is making them uncomfortable if I stand for long. Like most things losing weight seems to be the answer!!! It's good you got those old coins to put aside for the future and they should increase in value. I can't remember if I said before (age!!) but I found a commemorative guy fawkes £2 coin in my purse recently that had a misprint on the 'Remember remember the 5th etc ' printed on the edge and they are supposed to be collectible. I have put it away for safe keeping now.

I'm glad you are pleased with your new car Gill and that was nice the garage put your old radio/CD player in for free for you.

Better go now as OH wants me to buy something off Amazon for him!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 5 May 2017 21:57

The rash was'nt from the midge bites Ann. I think it was from the fact that I shaved under my arms with a new three blade razor only used once and I put it back in a cover provided. I should have let it dry naturally and maybe put it under some very hot water. I scratched myself with it and was very sore afterwards and especially on my left side which was the worst arm for the rash. Needless to say I have'nt use dthat razor again but gone back to the old one I have had about 19 years which has only had two blades in all that time. They were the ones it came with!!!! still going strong.

Oh snoring dos'nt bother me at all infact it is quite relaxing I find. He talks a lot in his sleep now.

Gillx Report 6 May 2017 10:02

Morning all

A bit cloudy here today but I don't think it is forecast for rain although we could do with it, the garden is so dry even with OH watering it every day.

Pleased to hear you didn't have to go back home for the beads in the end Ann. What are you making at the moment?

How are you feeling today Frank, hope you had a decent nights sleep, that always helps.

Your hands must be driving you mad Jane, have they said how long they'll take to heal, it's been quite some time now hasn't it? Let's hope the holiday helps as like your OH said you won't be doing as much as you do at home then.

I'm not doing any gardening today as I've woken up with a sore knee. I think it's from all the digging getting the large plants out yesterday, the ground was as hard as concrete, or at least it felt like it, so I'm going to have a soak in a hot bath, see if that eases it then relax and rest it for today. Hopefully it'll feel better tomorrow then we can carry on with the front garden. We don't have much more left to do just a tidy up, and cut the lawn back into a proper circle, it seems to have gone out of shape somehow, but it can wait for now until my knee's better.

Better go and check my bath, see you all later

Morning all,

Slept like a log last night and got up once then fell asleep again and woke at 11am.

So not having been up long I hav'nt anything to tell you except what I kept meaning to say. My nans birthday would have been on the 3rd May, dads mum she would have been 122.

Shop today and egg delivery then nothing else planned. May sow some seeds or go up the border if it is'nt too cold up there.

Hope Jane had a good journey.

Annx Report 6 May 2017 12:14

Afternoon All,

Horrid drizzle here but at least it's nice and cool for me. I slept like a log too Mel. It's so much better when you wake up refreshed instead of feeling like a zombie isn't it! My mum would have been 90 on the 2nd May. Time is whizzing by.

Sorry your knee is sore Gill, but the bath should help plus some rest.

We could hardly get to the shop this morning as 4 youths had laid their bikes all over the pavement and strewn their backpacks everywhere. The pavement is wider there but we had to weave in and out between them all. They were old enough to know better, but were oblivious to the problem they were causing while they fiddled with the chain on one bike. Anyone could have fallen over them and there was no room to push a pushchair without going into the road. :-S

When we got home, that neighbour who is moving and was sweeping the road the other day has gone one better! Today he was jet washing the road!!!! He was doing his drive yesterday which we thought odd seeing as he has sold the bungalow. I wasn't very pleased as I had my car washed on Thursday and even though my car is right up the drive close to the garage you could see the spray blowing up our drive and on our windows that were cleaned last Monday. OH's car is under the window at the bottom of the drive so his will get soaked and probably covered in the dirt as well. Goodness knows why he is doing it as the lorries that will be back on Monday will be bringing mud off the building site and covering it again. He is also silting up his neighbours gulley where the water and debris are running.

I'm moving my car now and going off to a painting exhibition at Lutterworth. Hopefully he'll be finished or got fed up and stopped by the time I get back!!

Frank Report 6 May 2017 12:55

Afternoon to all,

Not much to report, I was in bed early last night, listened to the radio for a while and tried to get to sleep. That was a waste of time, I got up at midnight. Ros came out at two o'clock, and I was watching T.V. (don't remember what I watched) I went back to bed around 3.45 Woke at 7.00 am and went to the loo. I decided I was going to have a lay in, and dropped off to sleep again till 10.30. Ros had gone shopping, so I expect to see her about 1.30/2.00 pm.

Still that cold North Easterly wind blowing here, so I for one won't be going out. Just my luck, I didn't go to see WEST HAM last night and they Won. Beat Spurs 1--O.

My stroke side is feeling very weak again this morning, don't seem to be able to move it like usual.

Mel, SNAP. I have been shaving for over 60 years, and this morning for what reason I will never know, I dragged the razor down the back of my index finger, and cut it in four places, Just nicks, but bleed like Bu@@ery.

Just remembered I haven't had my tablets. NAUGHTY BOY ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

Gillx

Gillx Report 6 May 2017 13:11

What are you doing shaving your fingers Frank LOL :-D :-D :-D :-D Only joking, hope the bleeding has stopped now.

Yes, the bath seems to have done the trick Ann, my knee feels much better, just a bit tight at the back, it must of been all the digging I've been doing these last few days. I haven't done any heavy garden jobs for around 7 months so it's probably just achy muscles, my back is a bit sore too. As for me resting it, I've only just sat down as I had loads of washing to do and other bits and pieces, but at least they're all out of the way now, so the plan is to sit down and relax for a few hours before starting dinner. OH said he'd do the shopping for me as we need a few bits and bobs, it shouldn't take him to long then we can watch a bit of TV together as I've recorded a few things we all want to watch.

Fancy those youths leaving their bikes all over the place, sometimes they just don't think do they? I think your neighbour is daft doing all that cleaning especially if the lorries are going to bring in more muck. You'd think he'd realise that the muck is going onto your drive and over your car though. Hope he didn't make to much mess and is finished by the time you get back. Enjoy your painting exhibition <3 <3 Looking forward to hearing all about it later.

Pleased to hear you had a good nights sleep last night Mel, I did too, it makes such a difference doesn't it?

Going to get a bit of lunch now, see you all later.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 6 May 2017 16:13

Its cloudy here but there's not much wind today and the washing has dried really well. I went through the wardrobe yesterday and got out all my while cotton shirts which looked a bit gruby after being in there all winter so they went in the wash. I shall then decide which to keep and which to give to the charity shop. I depends on which ones I can still get into!!!

Frank you silly boy shaving your finger, what ever next. Shame you missed the match down the pub when West Ham beat Spurs.

I bought one of those hard skin removers in Lidl the other day as with my stiff toe I tend to walk on the side of my right foot and had hard skin on that side. It worked a treat and now I have lovely smooth soft feet. I saw them when I went in a few weeks ago but did'nt buy one then but after I got hme told myself I should have done so. They were £9.99 and in Morrisons they had them in there for £40. This week they had two left on the bargan stand and they had been reduced to £7 which is why I bought it. If it dos'nt last that long it has b een well worth its money on the first go.

Ann I bet you will be glad to see that man move now with all the pressure washing he is doing creating work for other people with his run off . Are you sure the house is still sold??

Annx

Annx Report 6 May 2017 16:45

Well I never got to the Painting Exhibition after all! When I drove past the church hall the door was shut and no signs were up for the exhibition so I thought I had got the date wrong. :-S When I got home and checked what I'd put in my diary I found it was being held somewhere different this year and I should have gone to the Town Hall instead!! Not much good me putting stuff in my diary if I don't read all of it!! The trouble is when you think you KNOW!! lol. I wasn't driving back the 17 miles as they would be nearly closing by then. The man was still faffing about with the jet washer till 4.00 oclock but has gone in now!

He told us at the end of last month that the new people would be moving in this month Mel. That was a bargain from Lidl. I get more hard skin than I used to and have one of those battery things to remove it but it isn't that effective. I think I need a heavy duty one.......for elephants!! :-)

Frank, fancy slicing your finger! I bet that will be sore!

Gill you asked what we were making in class. It was a bracelet made with circles. I'll send a pic when it's done. We are doing a pretty necklace I really like next week, but I will be going to a hospital appointment with OH. The teacher has given us the pattern though so I may have a go at it anyway at home.

I keep yawning now, so I think I'll get a glass of water and tidy some of the paper in here away. OH will be back from the match soon.

Frank

Frank Report 6 May 2017 18:05

What a lazy so and so I have been. Ros came home about 2.00 pm. She bought a French Stick, Prawn salad and a bowl of Morrison's Salad, which we had for lunch.I have spent the afternoon reading the rest of that 6500 page book, and read the paper. I think I was looking at my eye lids also. lol

Ros bought another 4 tier shelve stand for the greenhouse. It was the last one in the shop. She also came home with more plants ,which she has been planting in the front garden. It does seem strange looking down the garden and not seeing the cherry tree in blossom.

I am going to try the Roast Shoulder of Lamb they cooked on "Saturday Kitchen" prick it all over, rub in butter and garlic, and cook for four hours on a low heat. The usual roasts and veg to go with it. Plus my CHEESE SAUCE JANE !!!

I think we might have an Indian again this evening, I didn't think Ros would want it two weeks running, but she asked for it ;-) ;-) ;-)

Evening all,

Not such a nice day today we had drizzle all the morning and it's been cloudy this afternoon .

Gill i find after the winter when i start gardening again i have to ease myself into it ,it does make your muscles ache ,i hope the warm bath has helped to ease your pain .

Fancy your neighbour cleaning all the road Ann and messing your cars up ,he must have seen all the spray flying about .
I'd like to see your latest jewelry you've made Ann they are always lovely .

Frank how did you manage to cut your finger with the razor !!
I have my finger plastered up i sliced into it when i was cutting a loaf of bread it had dried up nicely and then i caught it on a carrier bag and it started bleeding again .

We haven't done much today i made a Shepherd's pie for tonight and Colin has been making another wooden planter to hang on the wall under the kitchen window i want to have a few herbs in it.

Has Jane gone on holiday ?

Gillx Report 6 May 2017 18:40

I know what you mean Frank about your Cherry tree, we had one, plus our big apple tree and now they're not there I do miss the blossom. I have a bit of blossom on the two other smaller apple trees I have in pots but it's not the same. Mind you I won't miss picking up all the rotten apples off the big apple tree anymore. How long did it take you to read 6500 pages, what was the book about?

What a shame you didn't get to the painting exhibition Ann. Fancy putting it in your diary to remember where to go then forgetting to check your diary, mind you it's easily done isn't it? I have a reminder on my mobile so if I need to remember something I put it in my mobile to let me know the day before, it has an alarm on it so there's no forgetting it that way. If your phone has reminders on it maybe you could put it on there next time. The bracelet made of circles sounds interesting, can't wait to see a picture when you've done it. I'd like to see a pic of the necklace too if you take one please.

It sounds like you got a bargain Mel and it does the trick nicely for you.....nice soft feet now :-)

Gillx

Gillx Report 6 May 2017 18:48

Didn't see you there Mandy, sorry to hear you've cut your finger and then knocked it. Good idea to put a plaster on so you don't catch it again.

Can I have a bit of your rain please our garden is so dry even though OH is watering it every night. We just noticed the border at the back of the greenhouse needs extra water as the soil is starting to crack it's that dry. It's been very cloudy here today and not so warm, but I'm glad as the plants I moved yesterday will probably be better without the hot sun on them all day.

I've been resting all afternoon so my aches are starting to go now, the bath really helped. I must of overdone things yesterday as I was as stiff as a board this morning.
