Frank Report 8 May 2017 12:17

Afternoon all, That blooming North wind is back today. It's very overcast and cold.

I managed to stay in bed last night, even though I was awake for long periods. This morning we didn't get up till 9.00 am. Dos had to be at the Drs. for 10.30. SHE has another water infection, she has to go for a blood test tomorrow. The doctor said she will need to prescribe more tablets to try to clear it up. I think she is due to be part exchanged for a newer model. LOL <3 <3 <3

I stood a did a basket of ironing excluding her bits. Shirts, T shirts , hankies, pillow cases, and sheets.

Mel, after yesterday, I can't believe how the weather has changed. I certainly won't be going outside today. !!!

No breakfast again this morning, so I am going to get something now and a coffee.

Where is everyone.?? I hope Carmel is improving now she is home.

Gillx Report 8 May 2017 15:54

Hi Frank and Mel, you're right Frank it's very quiet on here today.

The weather is glorious here and really hot with it. It was a bit cooler this morning so Sandra helped me do some more of the front garden, all that's left to do is put some new plants in and re-shape the lawn. So much for me putting the grass seed down, when I went into the back garden earlier there were two pigeons eating the seeds, so it looks as if it'll be plan B after all. Putting the grass from the front around the back.

I've cut down lots of the very big plants in the front garden but cut a branch off I shouldn't of and now there is a big hole right where you can see from the front door. I hope it grows back. Apart from that the rest of the garden looks good and a lot tidier. It took Sandra and I 5 hours to trim the plants and do some weeding then bag up all the rubbish.

Poor Sandra has a sore eye, it looks like she's been punched in the face as she's been rubbing it. She said it was itchy but wouldn't take an antihistamine, saying it wouldn't work, so I said that all I could do was let her know what to take it was up to her if she took it or not, that seemed to work and she finally took one of the tablets. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have stopped the itching yet, it's been less than an hour but if the itching doesn't stop soon then I'll have to get her to the doctors She's had this problem on and off for a while so now I'm thinking it's not hay fever. She does put cream on her face so I've suggested that she doesn't use it for a day or two to see if that helps. It does look sore where she's been rubbing it so if there's no improvement in a couple of days then I'll make her an appointment with the doctor.

We're just going to watch a film Sandra saw advertised, it started about half an hour ago so I recorded it while we cleaned up and had something to eat. With Sky you can start watching a programme even if it's still recording, so that's what we're going to do now. Hope everyone is okay, see you later <3

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 May 2017 16:35

I have been a very busy bee this morning. Its glorious here, not a cloud in the sky and just a very light breeze enugh to stir the two lots of washing I have done. Changed the bed and cleaned the bathroom and hoovered right through the hall his study the bedroom and the kitchen and diner.

Did lunch and washed up then went down the road to the shop for some more milk and to get my scrpt I should have got on Friday.

Washed out a big dumpy bucket I use to get the washing out of the machine as I had a load of stuff in it I had to short out. Now I am going to make a drink.

Sorry your weathers not as good today as ours is Frank. If you were here you would be topless and in your shorts.

Frank

Frank Report 8 May 2017 16:39

Well, only Mel and Gill want to speak to me. LOL.

I hate this weather. It seems North and South have good weather, while we are in a bad spot. We have had the heating on since lunchtime, and still don't feel that warm.

Have put the Black Bin out, it's full to overflowing with flower pots, I didn't here back from the Blisworth Notice Board. So they are gone.

Had no idea what to do for a change for dinner tonight. I found a Paella in the frezzer, so we are going to have that. If it doesn't fill us up, we can have a sarnie later this evening.

Good on you Gill getting on with the front garden, you will be bug@erd tonight, I bet that hot bath will be a treat. "Don't throw the water away, I'll jump in your water." The times I have heard, and done that when we were young. Saturday night was bath night in our house, FIVE children bathed in the same water. I was always the last.!!!!

We had trouble with the W/Machine yesterday, so this morning I looked at the filter at the bottom of the machine. Guess what ?? A colour catcher had found it's way into the filter and blocked it. All clean now, and Ros has done another wish without any trouble. We were thinking it was a BIG PROBLEM. and might end up with having a new machine.

Ross sewing machine is sounding a bit off this afternoon, I hope that's not going to start playing up. !!!!

Afternoon Everyone
I see you have been busy bees today. I have got a fair bit done, but now my fingers are stinging like mad is I have just put those tapes on. Dinner is in but someone else can dish up and just do the Broccoli and also clear up after dinner :-).
I got to the Surgery for my blood test just in time for 9.30. I was thinking it was for 10.30 but luckily checked the calendar.

Frank, thank heavens it was just the colour catcher that had got caught in the filter and nothing worse. We too thought that the Tumble Drier was on the blink this afternoon. I had cleared the BIG filter out(not the little mesh one).It is a condenser drier. Anyway for some reason getting the big filter back in the slot has been a nightmare recently.Something is stopping it just sliding in nicely. So Chris came and tried, even turning the machine on its side. He got it in but when I turned it on it made really weird noise and I could hear sloshing water under the drum. Water that had been in the container in the bottom must have come out when he tipped the machine . After another tipping up water ran out and it seems fine again. But I will still have to get someone out to find out why there is trouble getting the big filter back in. Itwon't need clearing out again for a while so I will leave it until we get back from France.

Gill, would Sandra have eye drops? Those Optrex ones for Itchy/Hayfever Eyes are very good.I always have a bottle of that in my handbag at this time of year and the drops do help my itchy eyes.

Mel you have been so lucky today with having lots of sun.Not a sign of it here at all :-S
Just very grey and not too warm here.

I found something really disgusting today in one of my cupboards. It is a pull out cupboard that I keep Potatoes,Onions, etc in. Well just recently I have been noticing little tiny black flies in the lounge and kitchen.Bit like the ones that like rotting fruit . It turned out that in this cupboard was a bag of little red onions Date ...last DECEMBER !!!!!! The had just about turned to mush :-S :-S.. It was all pretty horrible. But the strange thing is they didn't pong, which is how I hadn't noticed the bag had got stuck at the back of the wire shelf.. Hopefully any remaining little flies now will disappear.I have caught lots in my hands by clapping on them .

Evening all ,

No sign of the sun here today it's been overcast all day and i felt a little drizzle on my face when i went out so no bedding hung out today ,looks like it was Mel and Gills turn for the sun.

Poor Ros with another water infection i hope the tablets will soon clear it up for her .
That was good you managed to sort out the washing machine ,how do these bits manage to get in the filters !!!
Lets hope the sewing machine is ok Ros hasn't had it very long has she .

Poor Sandra with her sore eye ,could it be some thing she has touched in the garden ? it's awful when your eye itches you just carn't help but rub it , i hope the antihistamine has helped to ease it.

You've had a busy day Mel ,i think when the sun shines you feel like doing more .

Phew Jane you were lucky you didnt get the stink from those onions ,i've had them go bad and they reek !!
Your poor fingers i bet you carn't wait for thursday so you give them a rest from house work and get back to having normal hands again .
I keep meaning to ask if the travellers have been moved on from the nature reserve?
You were lucky with the tumble drier because tipping it over with the water sloshing about it might have got into the electrics !!

Ann i've never heard of the Fox Glove tree ,the flowers are really pretty ,i love the close up of the Beech leaves .

We have been to collect some wood from a friend today ,she had a tree chopped down and gave us the wood so Colin has stored it away so it can dry out ,he will chop it up next year ,i think there's another to come down so there will be some more .

I meant to say i saw Nicko the other day he was sitting in the churchyard in the sun shine ,he seems happy and still looked nice and tidy ,i don't think there's any change he still hasn't got a home poor chap but he said he was pleased to have got through the winter ok.

Max goes to the vets again tomorrow ,i'm hoping he will be able to play with his ball again ,he really doesn't understand why there's no ball playing each day now .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 8 May 2017 19:17

Poor Max its not as if you can tell them and they understand is it? Hope they say he can have his games again after his visit.

Jane I had to laugh at your onions because I did exactly the same thing on Monday. Opened up the cupboard and saw yellow shoots coming from my bag of red onions. Not quite so out of date as yours though but I know what you mean about those tiny flies. Its too warm under the sink to keep potatoes so I keep them over the other side of the kitchen in one of those growing green bags that I can close the tops over to keep them out of the light. I also put my buches of carrots in there and had forgotten about a bag I had'nt taken the tops off for the bantams. Same thing happened there, black stalks and they stunk so that lot went in the bin too.

Nice to hear about Nicko Mandy. I wonder if he is still living in the shed? You'll have to treat him to a nice bun and a cuppa again or a small dinner.

Jane

Jane Report 8 May 2017 19:18

Mandy ,the Travellers have been moved off the reserve ,but have not gone far. The Pony they abandoned has been collected by Horse Rescue. There was a bit of cleaning up to do on the reserve but not too bad.Janice did say that there were lots of dirty baby nappies!
I expect Max will get the all clear tomorrow and then it will be time to play ball again :-D
So Nicko is back in the Churchyard.I just wonder if he is someone who will always be living rough. Nice though that he is looking good.

Oh Frank,Poor Ros,and yet another water infection. They need to get to the bottom of this don't they. It must be horrible for her. These infections can make you feel pretty grim.

Chris had a dental and hygienist appointment this morning. But he only got to see the Hygienist as the Dentist was way behind on time as he was dealing with an emergency .So Chris will make another appointment.

Dinner is just about ready ,and James is home from work so we will actually all be eating together for a change :-D

Tomorrow afternoon at 4 I have an appointment at the Beauty Salon for a lovely Eye Treatment/Massage.Gift from James for Mothers day. I must say I can't wait. It is so relaxing and I could just do with that right now :-) 45 minutes of total bliss :-D

Gillx Report 8 May 2017 19:41

Hope all goes well for Max tomorrow Mandy <3 So you've seen Nicko again, it's nice to know he made it through the winter okay, it must be a worry for the homeless not knowing how bad the winter months are going to be, it can get really cold with not much shelter. Sorry to hear you don't have the sun at the moment, hope you get some soon. It was overcast here a couple of days ago.

Poor Ros with another water infection Frank, lets hope the doctor can get to the bottom of it soon as they can be quite painful. You did well to sort out the washing machine. Hope Ros's sewing machine is sorted soon, she uses it a lot and will miss it.

Love the pictures Ann, you are very good at taking photo's. Can't wait to see the ones of the necklace you are going to make.

I bet you can't wait to go to France Jane to give your poor fingers a break from housework. Hopefully they'll start to feel better soon. I've got some comfort eye drops which we've tried but they don't really do much for Sandra and she's not keen on me putting them in her eye. You were lucky those onion's didn't smell, they really do stink if they go to far out of date. It sounds like you have a nice day planned for tomorrow..... like you said 45 minutes of total bliss <3

I see you have come to life this evening. That's the trouble with me NOTHING TO DO, all day.

So glad to hear Max is seeing the Vet this week. He will soon be back to normal I am sure. xx

Why and HOW is it, that we all have the same trouble with Veg going over the top in under cupboards. I have found Potato's, Onions, leeks all fallen over the back of the trays where they are stored. I used the potato's as seeds this year.

When are you off to France Jane. ?? I thought it was next month. Glad the travellers have been moved on. I wasn't surprised to hear they left rubbish behind them. That poor pony, lets hope he goes to a good home.

So Nicko is still around the Area Mandy. Lets hope he finds some permanent home while the weather is fine. Can't the local Council help him ???

I had a right set too with the Company where we bought Ros's sewing machine. They contacted us two months ago offering a fifteen year warranty, and service contract for £60.00. I paid for it. I have tried to contact them about when they are going to collect the machine and do a service. WE DON'T CONTACT YOU. You have to contact us. !! Like hell as like, GIVE ME MY MONEY BACK, or you will see me in the Small claims Court. They are refunding my money. SHARKS OR WHAT.

Annx Report 8 May 2017 21:14

Evening All,

Well it's deafening here as the Police Helicopter has been hovering over our bungalow for the last half hour. Something must have happened on the motorway I would think, although I would have thought it would be hovering closer to it if that was the case!

A sore eye is horrid so I hope Sandra soon feels better. The trouble is the more you rub the worse it feels. You have got lots done in the garden though, even if the birds have a tummyful of the lawnseed!! :-S

I expect the vet will be happy with Max and he will (I better watch how I word this!) be wanting to play ball when he gets back Mandy. I bet he wonders why he doesn't play fetching the ball any more. It's good you have seen Nicko again and that he seems ok and is looking alright. I just hope those rock throwing yobs don't come back!

It's been cooler here today but it suits me fine as I could wear my cardi when I went shopping. OH was out at a meeting tonight so the heating could stay off!! He is barking like a dog with his cough and sore throat today but says he doesn't feel too bad. I need to empty my car boot in the morning as it is full of plants for my pots and tomatoes for the greenhouse. It gets absolutely packed at the little nursery through the village. A few years ago you could go any time and in the week there would be half a dozen cars there at the most, but now it gets log jammed and people end up parking on the verges down the road.

Ros must be fed up with these infections Frank. I've never had one but have heard they can make you feel ill.

You have been busy Mel! I need to put the washer on to get some towels done to hang out tomorrow. I was thinking how nice it must be to gather your wild garlic to use. I would be putting it in with mushrooms or in my chopped tomatoes!!

Jane, that was lucky you found what was wrong with the filter. I hate it when appliances stop working, we rely on them so much. A nice pampering sounds just the thing for you. You'll be really chilled by the time you come out! :-)

Well the helicopter seems to have moved on so I think I shall turn in now. I wonder where that saying came from?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 9 May 2017 10:28

Morning all,

Today is nothing like yesterday. We have grey sky and no sunshine at all and there's a chill in the air. Nev er mind its shopping day and I got on so well yesterday there's not much to do today.

Car goes in for MOT tomorrow and I expect I shall have to have the brake pipes done on it as Stewart said last time they needed checking well this time and you can't drive around with dodgey brakes. Its all the cow muck on the roads around here that does it.

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 May 2017 10:43

Morning all

Another sunny day today :-)

Hope all goes well with Max at the vets today Mandy, he'll soon be playing ball again. He must miss playing and it's not like you can explain to him why he can't play at the moment is it?

I hope all goes well at the doctors for Ros today too Frank. Let's hope the doctor can sort out these water infections.

Did you find out what the police helicopter was for Ann, they do make a racket don't they, we have them over us sometimes and it's quite deafening as they can come down quite low.

Pleased to hear the travellers have been moved on Jane, that must be a relief for your BIL. Fancy them leaving the poor pony behind, at least he's gone to a good home now. They always leave mess don't they, hopefully it's all cleared away now and everything is back to normal. How are the swans, hope they weren't to distressed over the situation and came to no harm. I bet you can't wait for 4pm and your eye treatment, what a lovely present.

OH and Sandra have gone to the tip with all the rubbish from yesterday, then when they get back Sandra wants to watch some programmes I've recorded for her.

I noticed more pigeons eating the lawn seed again this morning so there's not much chance of any grass growing there now, so after looking at the back garden I've noticed that some of our grass needs straightening up so I'm going to use that bit of grass to do the area with the grass seed in, that should stop the pigeons and sort the bare patch out once and for all.

Going to take a look at my family tree until the other two come back, there's only one trip to make so they shouldn't be long. Sandra's eye is much better today so it must of been hay fever after all. She's taken another table this morning and I've put a bit of Sudocrem under her eye as that is a skin healing cream. It's looking much better and not so red today.

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 May 2017 10:45

Hope your car passes its MOT tomorrow Mel, Colin has his van MOTon Friday so fingers crossed we don't need any thing done .

Thats good Sandra's eye is ok today it must have been her going out into the garden that started it off ,you'll have to remember to give her a antihistamine if she does gardening again.

Been shopping and its all put away ,just walked Max but you wouldn't know it ,it hasn't tired him out as he's going round the garden like a mad thing !!
Going to have a coffee and then find another job .

Frank Report 9 May 2017 11:45

Morning my beauties, Evening Kim,

Same as yesterday here, cold north breeze and no sign of the yellow stuff.

Ros drove to the Doctors this morning and some idiot coming towards her. (HER RIGHT OF WAY) didn't slow down and took her wing mirror off. He was driving in the middle of the road overtaking parked cars. Of course he never stopped, so that's an expense I could do without. What a great start to the day. :-( :-( :-(

I bet Max can't wait to play with his BALLS (i've said it ANN) you coward !!!

All pampering for you then Jane, ;-) ;-) How are your poor fingers ?? I do hope they clear up soon. <3 <3

Gill, If you mix your lawn seen with some fine compost and rake the area over before sowing, it should deter the birds from eating it. It worth trying.

We had a Helicopter over ours last night. We are only about a mile or so from the M1. and they often hang around this area to keep an eye on the wrong 'uns using the motorway, It seems that this junction gets a lot of use from the drug traffickers, getting to Milton Keynes and the West.

Had a funny sensation last night in bed. My right hand felt as though it was connected to the mains electricity. The palm was red hot and itching like mad. I scratched it, rubbed it, even got out of bed and soaked it in cold water. It finally went away, but where as I was tired, I was suddenly wide awake. :-| :-| :-| I did drop off about 2.30 am.

Where do you think Ros is. Yes, out shopping with Carolyn, while I had the job of washing up breakfast things, and preparing a Chicken Casserole for tonight. Just the potato's to do. I have even made her a Rice pudding as well.

I am going to try to fix this new hose reel later. I will need a fleece on as the drive can be quite chilly even if the sun is shining, WHICH IT ISN'T. !!!

Have a good afternoon all, whatever you are doing, see you later.

Gillx

Gillx Report 9 May 2017 12:32

I mixed the seed in compost when I laid it down Frank but it didn't make any difference. OH noticed that the pigeons seem to be building a nest in our conifers which is just above the seeded area, so I expect they will be eating the rest of the lawn seed for breakfast each morning until it's all gone. All I can do is wait and see if they've left enough to cover the area. We have patches of grass there anyway so that'll probably grow over in time, but it does look a bit of a mess at the moment as it's right in the middle of the bottom of the garden, so really stands out. I'll keep it watered and see what happens over the next few weeks, if it hasn't improved by then I'll move over the grass that needs to come up. Either way we should have it grassed over in the end. Sorry to hear you still haven't got any warm weather. I could send you some of our sun if you like Frank :-)
There are some really dangerous drivers around, poor Ros it must of been a shock when the wing mirror was hit, good job he wasn't any further over or he would of hit the car, hope Ros is okay <3 Yes wrap up warm if you are going out to fix the hose, that cold wind can bite right through you can't it? How is your hand today?

Yes, Sandra's eye is much better today Mandy, she took another tablet this morning as she was helping her dad take some garden rubbish to the tip. He went to a different tip than our usual one which is why he needed help as you have to climb up high steps to get to the top of the skips. I'm terrified of heights so I was no help to him and with the bags of rubbish being quite heavy he needed Sandra's help to carrying them up the steps. They are back now and Sandra's eye is still okay so the tablet she took is doing it's job. Good luck on Friday for the MOT, it's always a worrying time as you never know how much it's going to cost if it fails. I'll keep my fingers crossed it passes. So Max is still full of beans even after his walk, all that running around should tire him out though. How did he get on at the vets?

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 9 May 2017 13:13

We take Max this afternon Gill ,he's finally gone to sleep after his chasing about .

Gill have you got any netting you could lay over the grass seed to stop the birds eating the seed or is it to big an area to cover , i can remember dad used to use cotton tied to small sticks to cover bits that he had seeded .

Poor Ros losing the wing mirror ,they are quite a price to replace especially if it's an electric one , we had to replace both of ours when they were smashed off by those vandals that time , thank goodness he didn't hit her head on .

Seems to have turned colder here now and theres a very slow dry for the washing.

Frank

Frank Report 9 May 2017 14:04

It's blooming cold here. I have the heating on and the halogen heater. I have had a hunger feel today. This morning I had a sausage sandwich, just now I cooked a pizza and have eaten half of a 12 inch one. Then had an apple turnover. I still feel peckish, but know I mustn't have anything else, or I won't want my dinner.

I have ventured out today, I just don't feel like it. I am having another read of my book.

Gill I think netting would be the answer, if you raise it a little off the ground, because they won't want to get their feet caught up in the netting. You should get a GUN and have pigeon pie LOL LOL. I wouldn't like those nesting in my trees. The mess the babies make will be every where. !!!

I wonder if Max is behaving himself at the vets ??

Frank

Frank Report 9 May 2017 15:25

Well I did venture out to fix the leek on the new hose reel, I ended up having to stripe on end, where the water goes in. It nigh on killed me bending over and undoing this bit then another. I had to pull a spring loaded end off the hose and re-connect it. It then had to go back and fit into four small slots, what a job lining them up. Finally all back together. I tried to wind the hose back on the reel, but gave up. Will do it tomorrow.

Just seen Tony and Val in the garden. They are going to St Ives for a week starting on Saturday. He was actually cutting his lawn. !!!

Still on my own. I don't know why I have a wife LOL LOL.
