Evening All,

Yes Mandy and Anne, it would be great to see some more photos of Max and Ruby! Also of the little princess Mandy!! :-)

Frank, poor Ros with her problems........she does well to soldier on and do so much! The same with Mandy's OH and his aching legs. Let's hope the docs can help improve things.

Anne, did you see in the paper recently how it is thought that stripes on walls, material etc can help trigger migraines in some people? That is as well as any flickering light. I hate driving down roads with trees at the side that cause flickers. Bed is all you can do when they are really bad with a headache.

That's a shame you needing a new tyre as well as the pipe Mel, but as you say, these things have to be done to be safe. Maybe you should extend your walled garden all the way around you so the rabbits can't get in? It's annoying to see your hard work nibbled away! :-S

In case I miss you tomorrow Jane I hope you have a nice time in Lyon and that your fingers are not too troublesome!! :-) I hate that trip across Paris between the stations as I have always found it a rush to catch the next train!! That's good you have the black gloves now and don't forget the seatbelt cover will you!! :-D

OH was fed up when we went to The Works to get his Academic Year Diary he always gets from there for his work. Very traditional, he just likes a plain black A4 size one and all they had were ones with silly messages on the cover or things like butterflies on them!! :-) It looks like he will have to get one on line.

I got some more plants for my pots today. Pink, purple and white in the tall pots by the arbour and red, purple and orange in the wall pots at the back. I think I will still need a few more for other pots, but want to plant those up tomorrow first. OH has an interview at lunchtime. He has to re-apply for his posts as an Independent Person on the Councils every few years so I can get the planting done while he is out.

Tomorrow night I am going to the Fused Glass workshop so that should be interesting. I think there is free wine with the event so goodness knows what some people's glass work will be like after a few glasses! :-) I shall be on apple juice so mine should be ok. lol.

Whacked out. Cut a lot of my plants back and some dead stuff from lasst year!!!!!!! Its been so cold I did'nt do it over the earlier part of the year like usual. I have big red poppies ut and the bearded iris one red rose on the wall and a beautiful stand of delphiniiums coming into flower but the biggest stem right in the middle has been eaten off just where the flowers start. I have'nt put any slug pellets down again this year because of the hedgehogs but I may have to just in the base of the delphiniums.

I tried to get some single flower holders in the gruond for the peonies but could only get them in about 3 inches as the ground is so hard and if you hit one of our stones they won't go in anyway because all our stones are square bits of rock. At least in Suffolk the stones weere rounded and if you hit one of those the spike would just go round it.

Not so many flowers on the peonies or the iris this year. With the dull summer last year I don't think they sort of ripened enough and the iris did'nt get enough sun on the rhizomes. I think too they need spliting up as the have travelled a fair way across the earth.

Jane I am pleased you have now recieved your black gloves. Hope you have a safe journey and enjoy yourselves and that it gives your poor hands a rest and time to heal. You asked how long my hands took to heal completely, it was months but the last stuff I was given was Lociod oitment and that did the trick. The only thing was it was a bit greasy and I hate greasy or sticky hands.

Anne poor you having the migraine. I used to get them but hav'nt hasd one now for years. I used to lay on the bed with my feet up the wall above the bedhead, or lay on the bed with my head hanging over the edge. I never had the headache with mine though only the blob that I could see and lose my vision till I could only see a small round bit of somemthing I was looking at and the rest was just black. Parts of my body woud go numb too like the side of my hand and down my little pinkie or halve of my mouth.

Morning all.

Dull and cloudy but no wind to speak of just grey sky.

Gill I have sent you a couple of things via email and pm.

Should find out how much the car has cost me today when Stewart rings to say its ready. An expensive month this with the tax and MOT.

Frank

Frank Report 11 May 2017 11:35

Morning everyone, evening Kim,

When we opened the curtains this morning it was bright sunshine, that's gone now, and it's turned very cloudy and the breeze is getting up.

It was my intention to put some Spring Onion and Beetroot in this morning. But will have to see how the weather develops. Just like the silly boy I am, I put shorts and a T shirt on this morning.

Lets hope you don't get a nasty shock over the car repair costs. But I think you said before he is very reasonable with his prices. I think our local garage works on £40.00 an hour, which compared to the Main Dealer is very cheap.

I bet Lady Jane is on her way by now. Lets hope she has a nice time and gets those hands cleared up while she's away.

Why on earth would a MAN want a diary with butterflies on ??or any patten come to that. I'm sure he will find what he wants on line. It's a bit late to buy a diary isn't it ??

With the promise of rain tonight and tomorrow, DO I cut the lawns ?? if I do and we don't get the rain they will be very dry, with the chance of going brown. I might leave them, as the rain will help green them up a bit more. DECISIONS !!!!

Ros looks tired out this morning, I will try to get her to work on her sewing instead of being in the garden.

Anne Report 11 May 2017 12:22

Good Morning All

I hope Jane has a lovely holiday and her poor hands start to heal.

Still warm and sunny here and I've just got back from taking Ruby for a walk she is now fast asleep on her kitchen bed. Part of our walk takes us parallel to the Nine Mile Ride and a very noisy lorry went along it frightening Ruby out of her skin, although you can't actually see the road from the path it is a very busy road. Mel I keep meaning to say how handy the little Boston purse has been for me on our walks.

I was up at 5o/c this morning so had done the washing and had the dishwasher on an emptied by 8am. This is very unusual for me but it was so light out and the planes going in and out of Heathrow were so noisy, Sainsbury delivered right on time so have also put that all away

Hope Ros takes your advice Frank and takes it easy today, she seems to have so much energy.

Ann I think you are right and bright or flashing lights can bring on a migraine and I think that may be the case with me as the sun was very bright that day. Oranges used to give Peter migraines. You must let us know how the stained glass workshop went.

Look forward to seeing your photos of the Little Princesses, Mandy and Max of course

Paul is travelling back from Cornwall today so I hope he has a good journey with no holdups.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 May 2017 13:19

Anne I went in the shop I bought the purse in the other week but they did'nt have anymore with the Boston on them and not one with a black lab either. They only had three left and I can't remember what the dogs were.

Yes photos please of our Max and Ruby.

Did jane say she was leaving this afternoon? Hope they have an easy trip and enjoy thier break and it will give Jane's poor hands a rest from HW and time to heal.

I think the rain has stopped now and it was only very light so don't think it did the ground much good.

Must get lunch now as I hav'nt done anything today except some of Gill's tree and feed the chickens and birds. O I did wash all the bantam eggs.

Morning all,

Grey sky but with breaks of brighterness and then it goes dull again if you know what I mean. It is'nt raining though. Everything in the garden looks a little greener after yesterday light rain. Perhaps it just washed the dust off the leaves and plants.

Nothing planned for today as I still ache a bit from digging the other day so I may do my ironing and I have plenty of it as with the nice weather the machine has been doing overtime.

Frank

Frank Report 12 May 2017 11:40

Morning you all, evening Kim,

I didn't know it had rained in the night. Very little sign of wet patio and paths. Quite cloudy now, so we might get more during the day.

What did Stewart do to your cat MEL, ?? A bill like that would seem to be a big JOB. I would think you will question it when you go to pay.

There are so many break ins to cars,Vans sheds, and summer houses and two stolen Narrow boats in the village, and surrounding villages. I am most surprised as around here there is very little trouble. How on earth they could steal NARROW BOATS I will never know. One was last seen going through the locks at Stoke Bruerne. Again, how they knew that ,is beyond me. Where do you hide a SEVENTY FOOT NARROW BOAT ???

I was talking to two lads in the pub last night who were on their phones reading texts and whatever they do. I happen to ask how much do they pay each month. £65.00. with all the add ons. I have a pay as you go, and spend no more than £20.00 a YEAR.!!!

Ros did stay indoors yesterday, apart from putting the washing on the line and getting it in. She made two more quilts for the children. She has gone to have her nails done this morning, then into Tesco for odds and ends.

Martine has gone to Grimsby for the weekend, so Ros won't be out with her tomorrow, She is getting any Veg we need today, so she won't have to go out tomorrow. Weather permitting we will do a bit in the garden.

Poor Ruby, being scared by that lorry. I expect being so small, loud noises like that would scare the backside of most dogs. I think the worst part is that they can't see where the noise is coming from. Give her an extra cuddle from me please. xxx

I slept like a log last night. I had to have help from Ros to get out in the night, as I just couldn't sit up in bed, to get my legs to the floor.

Have you got your front garden sorted now Gill ??

How did you get on with your glass class last night Ann. ??

Time I got showered and dressed. LAZY BOY. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Gillx

Gillx Report 12 May 2017 12:27

Afternoon all

Had a bit of light rain this morning but not enough to do the gardens any good, so OH still has to water all the plants and lawns morning and evening.

The front garden is finished now Frank apart from us putting in a few plants where there are some gaps, but there's no rush to do that.
A seventy foot narrow boat......How far to they think they're going to get, it's not like they can hide it?

Thanks Mel for all your help with my tree. I realised this morning that the married woman he left his money to was his late wife's niece. I was wondering who she was. With her being married twice, the surname didn't ring a bell straight away.
That was a lot of money for your car, it might be worth getting a quote before they do the job next time, then you could shop around to see if anyone else can do the same job cheaper.

Hope Jane is enjoying her time in France and comes back with her hands/fingers feeling much better.

Poor Ruby, she must of been so frightened with not being able to see the lorry, just hear it. I hope she is okay now and it hasn't put her off having her walks Anne.

I was so busy yesterday then mum came round to visit that I didn't get a chance to come online. The weather was so good that I decided to do lots of washing as I knew it was going to rain today. I washed the winter coats, changed the beds and of course done all the usual washing that had built up over the last few days. I have a 50 foot line and I filled it three times, I'm so glad I can now use the whole line as it would of taken much longer to dry otherwise, as it is it took me most of the day to get through it all.

Got the car insurance quote yesterday and it was over £1000, you could of knocked me down with a feather I was that shocked, so I've rang them this morning and they have reduced it by almost half. I'm going to ring around for other quotes to see if I can get it any lower. I thought now we are both 50 the insurance would come down........so far that hasn't been the case.

Can you recommend any good insurance companies Frank? I've never done a price comparison before so I'm just going to have a quick look online. Any help would be great, thanks :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 12 May 2017 12:52

Frank I have paid it. He had to MAKE the brake pipe from the front of the car to the back. It took him two hours to make the pipe. New brake pads on the front a new tyre and the MOT. I knew I was going to have the brake pipe done but did'nt expect the new tyre which was £46. 50. I know he would'nt do me and it would have cost a lot more if I had gone anywhere else as they would have charged me vat on top of the bill and Stewart dos'nt.

Poor little Ruby being frightened by the lorry but you must realise that dogs hear things we don't so much more could have been going on to her when she heard it. Bless. <3

Afternoon all,

I think we had a sprinkling of rain first thing not enough to wet the ground really ,there are black clouds about now though so I'll have to keep an eye out for the washing.

We have been out in the garden putting the netting round the gardens so Max carn't get the stones.

Poor little Ruby noises like that can really put them off their walks ,Max is really not keen on traffic ,yesterday there was a Jet about and the noise was dreadful, it was climbing in the sky and soaring back down so you can imagine the noise.

Thats an awful lot for your insurance Gill :-0
Have a look on Compare the Market or Confused .com you just need to put all your details in and you'll get your quotes come up , the higher you have your excess the lower the insurance is , check for windscreen cover and if you need breakdown cover .
You can always ring what ever company you want to go with you don't have to do it on line .

Anne Report 12 May 2017 13:12

Good afternoon all

Just in from taking Amy out had to dodge the showers, she was fine and the normal road noise didn't seem to bother her thank goodness, I have noticed that she does have very acute hearing compared to all our boxers, she knows Richard is home before he even opens the front door.

Paul had a good few days in Cornwall, although he had a bad experience driving down when a coach cut him up nearly forcing him off the road. he had emailed the company to complain but has had no response yet. Unfortunately he hasn't set up the camera system yet. He is taking Richard to the John Radcliffe hospital in Oxford this morning for a check up on his leg where he had the cancerous tumour removed, they are then going to the cinema to see the latest Star Wars film.

Mel It sounds as though you got a good charge for your car repairs even the VAT would have been substancial on the amount you paid.

Gill you shouldn't have to pay that amount for car insurance do as Mandy suggests and check on line you will be amazed at the difference

Frank Report 12 May 2017 16:58

Afternoon all, We have had a steady rain here for the whole afternoon, so should have done some good. Clouds are starting to break up now, so it should be a nice evening.

Gill, Any of the sites on line will show you the prices of the insurance with Excess for anything you want i.e windscreen cover, they will show you compulsory excess and you can change your voluntary excess to bring down your premium. If you or OH can't do it. I will do it for you, but will need all your particulars (including inside leg measurements) LOL LOL. Just let me know. I have Ros's insurance through a Company called RIAS Tele;- 0845 650 1212. This years insurance was around £150.00 for Ros only to drive. Give them a call and see what they Quote. Let me know how you get on.

Well Mel, as you are satisfied with the cost, there's not a lot to be said. You did seem to have a lot done. When you take off the MOT and Tyre and brake pads, is doesn't seem so bad.

So Max won't be eating anymore stones now Mandy. ;-) ;-) ;-) Little bu@@er wanting to eat them in the first place.!!!At least now he has his balls back. ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3

Easy dinner tonight. Ros bought Pulled pork and the veg all prepared so just needs going in the oven or Micro-wave. JOB DONE.

The sun is out now. :-D :-D
Not out tonight, so I hope I can find something to watch on my Tele in the conservatory, while she watches her SOAPS.

We call Max Toby some times it just slips out :-)

Showery here , down it comes and then it stops and dries up and just as we want to go out in the garden again it clouds up and pours again , it always seems to come down just as the children come out of school.

That sounded a bit scary for Paul Anne, these big vehicles think they own the road and every thing should give way to them, i'm glad he is ok .
Hope Richard got on ok at the hospital with the check up on his leg.

Go for it Mel !! it nice when theres no ironing pile looking at you :-D
