Thanks Frank for your offer of doing the insurance for me but I'm okay if I can ring rather than do it online. I've been online and managed to get hold of a few numbers, I'll ring them tomorrow. £150 is great if we can get it, but being only 50 years old I think it might be higher, but you never know. I have written down Rias as one of the numbers I found after putting in car insurance for the over 50's online. So hopefully we'll get a better quote than the people we're with now. We've got a few weeks so plenty of time to find a good deal. Thanks everyone else for your advice too :-D :-D

Pleased to hear Ruby hasn't been effected by the lorry sound and is okay when you take her for her walks Anne. Isn't it funny how animals just know when their owners are coming in. Our middle cat Jez was the same when OH came in from work, it's quite funny to watch too :-)
Hope all went well for Richard this morning. I don't blame Paul for complaining about the coach driver, lets hope he receives an answer to his email. Something similar happened to us when we went to Blackpool years ago, we were going along the motorway (M6) when a lorry came over and almost squashed us into the central reservation, OH had to put his foot down as we were along the middle of the lorry, OH ended up doing almost 100 miles an hour to get past the lorry before he came fully into our lane, he was as white as a sheet. We pulled over at the next service station so he could have a cigarette and calm down, he was shaking like a leave, it was very frightening. Hope Paul is okay now <3

Did you manage to get all the netting around your garden Mandy, or did rain stop play? At least Max won't be able to get to the stones anymore once it's done.

How did you get on with your ironing Mel, did you get it all done in the end?

Going to get a cuppa now and watch a programme I recorded for Sandra and I, then I'll see what can be done for dinner.

Evening All,

Lots of showers today but luckily it was dry when we went to OH's hospital appointment! Just as we were about to set off a second huge concrete mixer turned up and completely blocked our private road while it waited for the first one to unload. The driver had disappeared. Luckily he came back and moved it just before we needed to go. OH's waterworks seem to be in order and were off their scale for being good in one test. The Doctor said his prostate level suggested he is unlikely to ever have any major problem. Apparently if the level is below 1 at age 50 you are unlikely to get major prostate problems in your life and OH's at age 64 is 0.92 so he was pleased about that. Afterwards we called in M&S to get the free half leg of lamb with the Daily Mail points offer we have. The price on it was over £15 so well worth having. :-)

Mel, you have had an expensive time with your car. Hopefully that is the end of it for a while now. I know brake pipes can be expensive on some cars because things can be in the way when they replace them and some are plastic coated now.

Gill that was an eye popping amount for your car insurance renewal! :-0 We had OH's renewal come today. His was £247 last year and has gone up to £352. They have said in the papers that the cost has gone up by about 30% in the past year, but as always I shall be looking at other quotes online. Another good comparison site I have used is Moneysupermarket.

Poor Ruby must have almost jumped out of her skin at that noise Anne, but it's good she was ok with the normal traffic noise since. That's a very scary experience being squeezed off the road and makes you more wary after. OH got side swiped on the motorway once by a foreign lorry at 70mph. I hope Richard's check up was ok.

The glass fusion workshop went very well. It was different to the last one we went to in that there was no cutting to do.......so no plasters needed! lol. We had several boxes of small glass pieces in different sizes and shapes to use. We each had a tray and could make various things, trinket dish, curved dish, wall hangings, spoon rest etc. Mine was done on an oblong glass that curves when it is fired so you can stand it on it's edge on a windowsill or shelf. It wasn't so easy as cutting your pieces of glass in one way, but was good in that you really had to think and find pieces to fit what you wanted like in a jigsaw! I did a beach with a rough sea and some boats on mine! One friend did a lovely colourful cockerel dish and my other friend did a pretty vase filled with pastel flowers. Their packing system was much better as you left your design in the tray and she just stacked the trays together to go off to the kiln. The other class had us wrap them in cardboard which meant your pieces of glass could move in transit. They should be ready to collect in about a week so it should be interesting to see how they turn out as you can never tell. The colours you use can change in the firing. There was free wine if you wanted it and the people running it were very nice which helps. They are doing another class soon for painting glass and I think I will go to that one. For anyone on FB just put in 'hot dog glass fusion' and you can scroll and see photos of the things you can do.

Mandy I hope the fencing keeps 'black chops' away from the pebbles now! ;-) Hopefully he'll lose interest now and not bother with them anyway in a few months. His balls will be much more fun!

We've just had another downpour and the neighbour who was jetwashing his drive is now out there sweeping the water puddles on it.

Guess what I did'nt go back to thje ironing as oh came out and said what about a nice coffee. Still there is always tomorrow. Which reminds me I have'nt put it away yet as I did'nt need to go to the freezer for anything. Its still sitting on the top. Some is on the airer wire thing.

Black chops........ha ha ha Ann. I hav'nt heard the expression Chops for a long time.

Good luck with your car insurance Gill. Mine had gone down a little this year, but only a very little.

Mandy is Nicko still in the churchyard? Do you think he will stay for the coming summer?

Richard had the all clear at the hospital and his next appointment will be in 6 months time. I got it wrong about the film they went to see it was the new Alien one.

I do sometimes call Ruby Amy by mistake but have never got it wrong when actually writing it down before

It's good your OH's hospital tests were so good Ann. I'm glad that you enjoyed your stained glass workshop you will have to take a photo of the finished results so we can see it.

Morning all,

We have sunshine this morning and it makes such a difference after the dark old day we had yesterday. We may have rain later though so I shall make the most of it while it shines. We alos have big white clouds in the sky and quite a lot of them.

Anne that was lovely Richard had the all clear from the hospital. Must put all your minds at rest. How nice.

Good for G too Ann that his tests went really well.

I have my egg delivery to do this morning and get the paper. The only one we have durinng the week and I only get it for the telly programs. Oh sometime skips through the paper and then it goes to the recyling.

Morning all

Dull day here, it looks like we've had some rain in the night and possibly more to come by the looks of the clouds, so I'm not going in the garden today, I'll take another look at my family tree instead as I have a few bits that needs sorting out, I've hit a brick wall with this part but hopefully I'll find something today if I look hard enough.

Pleased to hear all is well with Richard Anne, that's one less thing to worry about for him.

How nice having a cuddle off Max Mandy, looking forward to seeing the photo :-)

The glass fusion class sounds great fun Ann. The things you have all made sound really beautiful and no plasters this time too :-) The pictures on Facebook are brilliant, I like the one of the bird in blue.
Pleased to hear all went well for your OH, it's nice to have good news. Have you heard of the cyber attack on the NHS? Lots of procedures have been cancelled because of it. There's some awful people in the world nowadays isn't there?

Morning all, Evening Kim,

Rain this morning first thing, now just overcast and breezy. We are having a lazy morning, both in our dressing gowns.

Ros is cutting more material for her quilting, while I am on here. Then I will be off for my shower.

Good news health wise for G then Ann. Thats got to be good.!!

Talking of cats. (were we) Ros's dad had a cat that would walk a good half mile, to meet him coming out of work, and would sit on his shoulder all the way home. He did this every day. <3 <3

So a new name for MAX "BLACK CHOPS" very apt for a black Lab. xx

Neighbours were pick up this morning for their holiday. They will be back next Saturday. She never asked Ros to get Bread, Milk, etc, so they will have to get their own.

Come on now Mel, Get the ironing board up and get that pile done. !! the longer you leave it the more it will build up ;-) ;-) ;-)

Glad you are able to sort your insurance Gill. I think who ever you were with was "HAVING A JOKE" at £1,000.00 then reduce it to £500.00. I bet you will be pleaseently surprised when you get your quotes. DON'T TAKE THE FIRST ONE. :-| :-| :-|

Gillx

Gillx Report 13 May 2017 12:52

OH is at work at the moment so I'll ring around for the car insurance quotes later then let him know what they are Frank. I think it changes depending on what you add on so I'll have to make a list of everything we already have and see if we really need them all, that can only help to keep the price down, so long as I don't leave out anything important. Hopefully we'll get an even better deal than the one we got off the AA.

Sandra had me recording Baby Ballroom a few weeks ago so we're watching them all now, it's quite interesting and funny too. They do take it very seriously and the hours they put in practicing their dancing is amazing. You should see some of the little ones, they are so cute......bless them.

Just come down from the border as it has started to rain.

Lovely picture of Black Chops with Mandy. He has a look as though he has done something wrong or is it just a look that tells you "I love my um".

Gillx

Gillx Report 13 May 2017 18:36

Love the photo Mandy and his new name "Black Chops" :-D :-D :-D

So you've been busy in the garden Mel, I wondered where everyone was. We had a bit of rain here this morning but it's brightened up a now, not very warm today though. OH is cutting the lawns as it's forecast for heavy rain over the next few days and the lawns need doing.

Just watching the F1 qualifying, I'm recording it for OH so he'll watch it later as he was out when it started, so missed the beginning anyway.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 13 May 2017 18:52

We've been lucky this afternoon the showers stopped so we've been doing jobs outside ,when they did come down some were quite heavy .

Well Colin is suppose to watching the F1 but i think it's eye lid time again :-D

Ann that's good news OH got a good report at the hospital he must feel pleased to know he's not likely to have any major problems.
So this glass fusion class was better than the last one with no plasters needed this time ,looking forward to seeing the finished curved dish ,the last one you did was pretty .

Gillx

Gillx Report 13 May 2017 20:30

What lovely pictures of Katie Mandy, love her outfit <3 So Colin missed the F1 preferring his eye lids instead LOL :-D Never mind they tell you before the race what positions everyone is in and anything interesting that happened in the qualifying. So long as the eye lids don't win again he'll soon catch up with all the news. :-) It's nice when you can catch up with outside jobs. It's supposed to rain for the next few days so I'm pleased our lawns are done. The rain will do the gardens some good too, with it being so hot and dry lately. So glad I got through all my washing the other day.

Sandra's got the Eurovision song contest on, it runs for about 3 hours so OH is having a bath and I'm trying to find the missing bits on my family tree as it's not our cup of tea. Graham Norton can be funny though so that might keep me entertained :-) :-) Sandra's been looking forward to the programme all week so she's happy which is the main thing.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 13 May 2017 21:24

Mandy yes all female flowers is what you need to look for and F1 not the race!!!!! If you do get one with male and female flowers on you just take out the flowers with no little cue behind them. My grandfather used to say if the female flowers were pollinated with the male flowers it made the cues bitter.

So Gill loose ends??

Morning my little veg growers,

Well we have sunshine at the moment but how long will it last I ask myself.

I was naughty yesterday evening as I forgot to shut the big girls in their house. When I got up and looked out the bedroom window there they all were enjoying the sunshine.

Don't know what I shall do today as I ache a bit from yesterday so I might just do nothing exept the big breakfast.

Frank

Frank Report 14 May 2017 12:07

I'll say Good Morning but it will be afternoon by the time I finish. Good evening Kim,

Brightish sort of morning here, with very little breeze. I have been busy in the kitchen, preparing the Vegetables for dinner tonight. Ros bought a big RIB of BEEF, to put in the freezer for when we have Company, but yesterday, I got it out ,and thought I would treat us. I have done New Potato's Parsnips, Cauli, Runner beans, Peas and carrots. Cheese sauce and Yorkshire pudding made as well. Oh and the gravy. So I can relax now for a few hours.

My Arthritis is playing up again. I am finding it difficult to hold things in my right hand, so when I scrap the potato's the pain is very severe, also to hold carrots, parsnips etc. I think I will put a bandage round my thumb and hand, and wear a rubber glove. YOU can then call me DOCTOR FRANK. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Lovely photo of "BLACK CHOPS" and Kathy. She is growing to be a fine "YOUNG LADY" or is she a little terror ???

Mel, you were lucky Mr. Fox didn't decide to visit last night, or there would have been a fine mess to clear up this morning.

Gill how did you get on with your quotes, ?? I have never found the AA to be cheap, even their Recovery is dearer than the others.

I bet Lady Jane is enjoying her stay in France. I hope the weather is fine for them. How long is she away for ??

Ros bought a Super King size top sheet for the bed. It is so big it drags on the floor both sides of the bed. This morning she is doing a bed wash and has taken a huge amount of the sheet, sewn it up, and now in the W/M.So I won't trip over the Blo@@y thing when I get out in the night.

It's clouding up now and the wind is getting up. So I can't see me in the garden today. Tomorrow I have to go to the hospital for a check up on my eyes. So hope everything is O.K.

See you all later. Have "A NICE DAY" as our cousins across the water would say. <3 <3 <3

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 May 2017 12:25

Frank why so you scrape the potatoes? I boil them in their skins and take them off when they are cooked or just leave them on. If you cut the pots in sections then you only have to make a slit down one side of the slin and peel it that way.

We've had a shower this morning both nothing to speak of really and then the sun came out and dried up all the rain. Itsy bitsy spider climbed the spout again.
