Sounds like yuo had a nice day out Ann but could have done without the bees. The aray of cakes sounds really good too. Coffee and walnut is one of my favorites.

Been busy on my tree all day and only just realised how late it is. I wondered why I was getting tired.
Nice photo's Jane, the place looks lovely. My mouth is much better now the abscess has burst and I finally got a decent meal today instead of light things. With not eating properly for almost a week I went dizzy earlier, luckily OH grabbed me before I fell on the kitchen floor, I felt much better after the roast dinner. Sandra gave me some mints to eat to get my sugar level back up which really helped and I'm okay now.
It sounds like you had a bit of a do with the bees Ann, I don't blame you for reversing out of there. The cakes sound nice though. I bet it was lovely driving through the village and seeing all those cottages with their thatched roofs. I love looking at properties like that too.
So Ruby has learnt how to get over the stair gate then Anne. Has she done it again since? I must admit I also had a giggle when I read your post. She's not daft is she?
My mum has some bleeding hearts in her back garden Mel, they are very pretty aren't they? Sorry to hear about your fingers, hope they are feeling a bit better now.
Do you have a greenhouse Mandy? I put my Cana in my greenhouse as they like lots of heat, I also stand the pot on a tray so when I water it the water goes into the tray so the plant never dries out, it seems to work, although it is growing slightly slower than it did last year, I'm wondering if it's because there are more shoots on it this year. If you do have a greenhouse try putting it in there and keeping it watered, you never know it might recover for you. At least you have more seeds which you can plant up, then you could end up with two plants, that would be pretty.
I hope the weather was nice for Frank at the BBQ, it was today wasn't it?
Well, I'm off to bed now, see you all tomorrow Night Night

Morning all
A bit of a dull day here with lots of clouds, so I don't think I'll be in the garden today apart from watering the plants in the greenhouse. I'm hoping it's going to be better weather tomorrow as I'd like to fix the screening that got broken with storm Doris. I've moved all the bluebells now so should be able to get to it once I've moved a few other plants out of the way.
I was watching Gardeners World I recorded last night Mandy and Monty Don had Cana Lily's he said to feed them on liquid seaweed. I thought of you when he said that and thought it might help bring your Cana back to life. Hope it works if you try it <3 <3
Going to take another look at my tree today. I messaged someone about an illegitimate son of one of my rellies and had a reply this morning. If it's him he moved to Canada. I've asked a few more questions so hopefully they'll be a match and I can finally make a start on his family. It seems such a shame not to have a wife and children for him yet when others seem to be coming along nicely. Mind you he's not the only one I'm stuck on, so plenty to keep me busy.
What is everyone else up to today?

Oh, forgot to say, the grass seed I put down that the pigeons were eating has started to come through, so I guess the birds didn't eat it all. It's a bit patchy but at least it's heading in the right direction :-)

Morning all,
The pigeons never eat all the grass seed Gill. Oh has some he's had for about 5 years and said to test it so we put some in a folded kitchen roll sheet and sprinkled some on top in one of my hog bowls and he had it on his windowsill in the study. When I went in there to ask him something the other day it had germinated and we did'nt expect a thing with it being so old. He has a few patches he needs to seed. They are mainly where moles have come up and he has mowed over them.
Nothing planned for me today as my hands still ache. I am having sneezing boughts to so maybe I have a cold.
How is everyone today?
Hope Frank enjoyed his Bar B Q and is it now he has JJ from?

Morning All,
Well OH was up with the lark and has gone to a meeting to do with his work. It's at a lovely old Hall where we went to an Art Deco Fair last year so I expect he'll be strolling around the gardens till his meeting starts.
I didn't sleep well last night. I think it's because I was so hot so I must ring someone about the bees in the wall so I can have the bedroom window open. I have written myself a long 'to do' list for today, it's the only way I seem to get on with things these days! Then we'll go for lunch when OH is home followed by a supermarket sweep nearby! We seem to have run out of everything!
That's good your abcess has burst Gill and hopefully your tooth will be ok now. Many years ago I had an abcess on a tooth that a locum dentist wanted to remove but my own dentist said to see how it was for a while. It lasted another 35 years or so before I had it out!!
Well I'd better get cracking on my jobs now. I'll get through twice as many without you know who here. :-D

Morning to you all, evening Kim.
It's next week we have JJ and the BBQ (you didn't take notice of what I said) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-
Yesterday morning, we were sitting having a cuppa and a read of the paper when the phone rang. It was Carolyn wanting to know what we were doing. I said reading the paper. Would you like to go for a ride out to "ROCKINGHAM CASTLE" We had driven passed it hundreds of times but never called in. It's only just the other side of Corby. We went to the Castle rather than the HORSE TRIALS that are on this weekend. Entry was £11.50 each which I thought was a bit steep. Very interesting place with over 950 years history. My trouble was it was very uneven on the floors with the flag stones, and lots of stairs. Which I didn't attempt. After a couple of hours there we drove to the next village for lunch. All very nice but again over £90.00 for four starters and main meals. So I had an expensive day out. I have it all to do again on the 3rd of June with our 39th Anniversary.
I will cook the beef and do a roast for tonight.
I HAVE FOUND MY CAMERA !!!! I just need to find how to get my photo's from the camera to the MacBook. Then I will send the photo of the fern tree.
Ruby will have to be fitted with a Parachute if she's going to start "SKY DIVING" on the stair gate.
Glad everybody had a good weekend. Today I MUST get the front lawn cut. !!! It will soon be as long as Tony's and that will never do. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Clear blur sky's here with a nice breeze. They say today could be the hottest day so far this year. We will have to see.
Won't bother with a shower till I finish doing jobs. Dos has to go and collect her other sewing machine this morning from the service shop. Both her and Carolyn took theirs last week. Then I expect they will find somewhere to go.
Drops still affecting my sight, I'm not looking forward to SIX WEEKS of these. !!!!

Trust us to get it wrong Frank still we are all getting old now.
Its really hot here today. I have been out and done a little bit of sweeping but my hands are still a bit achey so I don't want to to do too much.
Chicken crown for tonights dinner so I think I will get that in the roasting dish so its ready to go in the oven.
I slept like a log last night. I was worried with my long sleep in the afternoon that I would have a job to drop off at night but I only lay there for a little while and then I was gone to the world.
Rockingham Castle looks lovely Frank. The grounds are kept so nice.

Swell after FOUR attempts I have got the front lawn and edges done. Talk about getting old and weak. I feel as though I have done a days work. ;-) ;-) Just pleasant out, nice warm sun with a nice breeze. After a rest I think I will go down the veg patch and see if I can get the runners in.
Had a call from Jan this morning. She got back from Spain yesterday. She will be coming up on Friday to stay at Kerry's for Alexanders Birthday. She will be going back down on Monday and has asked if we would like to go down with her and she will bring us back when we want to. That's a very nice offer, but we will have to see what Hospital/Doctors appointments we have. We can't afford to miss out on any. She also want's that mower I bought that is too big for me to handle, as hers has packed up, she only mentioned about her mower, and that she was going to buy a new one. So that will save her a lot of money, and get this mower gone.
Mel it just shows when your body needs the rest, you just get it. I slept well last night also, only got out at 2.00 and 5.30. then slept till 9.00 am Ros had had her breakfast and was sitting watching T.V. We didn't see that programme about the THREE GIRLS.. But might watch it on catch up. There has been some excellent reviews about it.
Still no sign of Madam, so I expect they are at the GARDEN CENTRE. It's usual !!!!
I had no breakfast again this morning, so might have something now with a coffee.

Iv'e just had a tuna salad, oh had fish sticks in wraps with salad.
Just having a drink and then going out to the garden as it may not be so hot now as it was this morning.
Good that Jan can use the mower Frank and it will give you some room in the shed.

We have been hunting thought cables trying to find one that will fit my Camera to the Macbook. also the Kartcher window cleaner. Must be here somewhere , but we are having no luck. Will have to try on line to see if I can find them there.
Very hot here now Mel, so I haven't attempted to put the runners in this afternoon. Perhaps tomorrow morning. The say by Friday we could be seeing 30 degrees.

Fancy the grass seed growing after 5 years, then being put on the kitchen roll Mel, now your OH can use it around the garden knowing it'll grow. It sounds like you're going to be busy this afternoon in the garden. The sun has come out here so I decided to move a few pots around to make the bottom border look better, a little branch came off one of the plants so I've made it into cuttings and popped it on my window sill. I knew the space would be filled soon after putting some of the other cuttings outside. :-D :-D Wait till OH comes home later, I'm sure it'll make him laugh as he said it wouldn't be long before I did more cuttings LOL
Sorry Frank, I got the weeks muddled up, it's probably with getting a second quote off the AA and knowing I had to ring them again today to let them know we're not going with them next year that I lost track of the weeks. Let's hope the weather is nice for the proper date you are going :-D It's sounds like you had a nice day out anyway, although a bit pricey. Good idea to pass your mower on to someone who needs it and like you said it will free up the space for you. I bet you're glad your lawns are done now, don't over it with the runners, there's always tomorrow if you need a rest today.
How did you get on with all your jobs Ann, hope you got through them all before your OH came home. I'm the same I get things done quicker when OH is out.
Now the gardening is done, well until later when I'll have to water the plants in the greenhouse, I'll get back to my family tree.
Thanks Mel for sending the census to me, I was a bit confused at first when it said Edmund twice, then realised the Edmund aged 22 was in fact his older brother, Thomas. Edmund 17 was him and it was just a mistake with his brother's name. It made more sense then. :-D :-D

Just noticed you didn't plant your runners in the end Frank. Good idea if it's to hot for you. 30 degrees is very hot, I doubt I'll be outside if it's that hot on Friday, it'd be to much for me :-( It's brightened up here after a dodgy start to the day, we even had a bit of rain earlier too, but thankfully that's gone now.
Going to get a cuppa, then I'll do my tree. Sandra is busy watching one of her programmes in the other room and OH is out so it'll be nice and quiet to concentrate. :-)

Given up searching for these Blooming charger things. I have been on line the one for my camera is £3.00 odd and for the Karcher is £7.00 odd. So all ordered and paid for, Should be here by the end of the week.
Ros is cleaning the front windows inside and out. The sun is round the back now, so nice and cool for her.
Decided I don't want to cook a roast tonight. Si will find something that's quick and easy, if that's possible. At the moment I don't care if I eat or not.

Well, the best laid plans etc! First I got a text from my sister wanting to arrange a day out, then I got a text from a friend to say our glass things were ready to collect and would I mind collecting hers as she has a busy week. So instead of jobs I went off to The Dovecote to collect the glass. I got chatting to a chap there who wanted to see what I'd made. By the time I'd called for the paper and gone home again it was nearly time for OH to come home! We had lunch, then a big 'shop', put it all away and felt worn out by then!! lol I did manage to ring a lady pest killer though who is coming to hopefully get rid of the bees at about 6.00pm. I've warned OH she gets rid of pests so he'd better behave! :-D
Frank, what a shame you have had to order new chargers, good that you have found your camera though. I don't think I have been to Rockingham Castle, but I would be a bit limited too with the stairs.
Mel, it just shows it is worth trying old seed before throwing it away. You've just made me think how we grew beans in jamjars with blotting paper at school.

Well the lady pest controller arrived spot on time. We had to move our cars and shut windows and doors round the back as well. She looked fantastic in her snow white gauze beekeeper's hat and gown! I think the neighbours must have thought we were radioactive!! She only charged us £30, (half price) as it was a small job. She did say that, unlike wasps, bees will come back year after year though. The poison lasts 6 months so the next EXPENSE is to get someone to come and rake out the loose pointing below the blue bricks and redo it all. They were a kind of bumble bee. Oh it will be nice to be able to have the little windows open at night!
You did well with the lawn mowing Frank. I find with lots of jobs I have to do them in small spurts now! The trouble is sometimes I forget to finish things!
I got some papers jammed in the shredder this afternoon. I ended up with it upside down on a stool and had to use my jewellery pliers to pull the jammed bits out of the teeth. Teacher would not have approved!!

Well I'll be blowed Ann I was just thinking of the growing of beans in a jam jar with pink blotting paper to hold the bean in place when I was sowing my beans the other week. I meant to say it on the thread and forgot all about it.
When they boys go out and you think you have lots of time to get things done they time goes so quickly. Or is it that I don't move as fast as I used to so don't get so much done? When I lived in the flat when first married I would clean all four rooms on a Friday morning and do the shopping in the afternoon. Now I have 8 rooms and a hallway I doubt I get one or two done at a time and certainly not before doing the shopping in the afternoon.
I had a go up the border this afternoon but got stuck into get twitch out which takes ages. One of my Lupins had'nt grown any leaves this year and the other one has lots so I thought it must be dead so dug it out ony to find it had loads of tiny shoots coming on it. I chucked it anyway as it had weeds all growing in it and twitch.
Gill the census I sent you of 1861 was Thomas the father of Edmund who was there too and Caroline's son Edmund born 1844.

Morning all,
What a contrast to yesterday weatherwise. Today is cloudy and raining. I don't mind as its shopping day.
What a terrible thing in the Manchester Arena. It makes you wonder what this country is coming too. Targeting children now...... how sad and my heart goes out to the parents of those who died and were injured.
