Afternoon all,
Lovely sunshine here again and it's really hot out ,i took some garden rubbish to the tip ,did some shopping and stripped the bed so i have that to go out on the line when its finished .
Those poor people in Manchester all looking foward to a night out and now some not going home just awful and very young children too, what ever is happening in our world it's so sad.
Ann i bet you were glad to get rid of the Bees ,with this warmer weather you'll be glad to have the window open for some air over night. Have you got your glass thing ?looking forward to seeing how it turned out.

Afternoon All,
Lovely and sunny here today! :-) OH has 2 meetings and is going to a match tonight so I doubt I'll see much of him today. He rang me when he got to his Oakham meeting as he'd allowed far too much time expecting more traffic and was going to have a mooch around the museum! No sign of bees going in the wall today but there were lots of bumble bees around the lavender on the front. I thought/hoped! they looked more banded than the ones in the wall so I hope they aren't in the wall somewhere else!!
I think I shall be off to a garden centre next. There are some bare patches among the alpines. I had some new seatbelt covers arrive today so I can try them out. They are nice soft fabric ones, much better than the plastic ones that have cracked and sharp bits scrape your neck! Knees and back are both twinging a bit today, but it's from doing a couple of minutes on the cross trainer two days ago, so I'll leave it off today to let them ease a bit. Pottering around the garden centre should be ok.
Yes it's awful what has happened at Manchester, but not surprising. OH won't go to any big footie matches or any large gathering any more. You wouldn't get him to London near Christmas either. Life has changed and it's so easy to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Afternoon all,
I was in bed by 9.00 pm last night. Got out twice during the night and slept until 9.00 am this morning.
We sat and watched the news of Manchester, I won't repeat the words I used about the scum that did that. The police say they have so many of these "people" under surveillance that they can't keep an eye on them all. Round them up a put them all together, that will be the best thing. I won't start.
I had my shower, and felt so feint I wrapped a towel round me and put my dressing gown on, and went to lay on the bed. I have only just come out of the bedroom. Still feel like a load of @@@t.
Ros is down the garden, but popped her head round the door to see if I wanted anything. The quick answer was "NO"
I did the veg this morning before I showered. Whether I will want dinner tonight is another thing. I just want to curl up on my own, and let the world go by.
I expect I will be back in bed early tonight, just to be on my own, and not have to hold polite conversation.
See you all tomorrow,

Afternoon All What shocking news to wake to this morning.Just so terribly sad ,so many young and very young lives lost and some maimed for life. To see also parents of youngsters pleading for the wherabouts of their missing children was heart wrenching to watch :-( :-(
Frank have you got a bug or just feeling under the weather? Hope you feel much better tomorrow. You could sit out and enjoy the sunshine :-D
Ann, the Bees have gone just in time now for this hot weather.Windows wide open now?
We went to a new place we found for lunch today. It is called the Olive grove ,near Oundle.Lovely Bistro and couple of shops, plus hundreds of Olive Trees .They specialise in them and some are so old 200 /300 yrs. I saw the price on one as £1,800 !!!!!!!!! .It is about 15 miles from here .We both had the Brunch Pizza.Thin base,Margharitta Style but with Avocado,Pancetta and a fried egg on the top. Delicious it was too. Washed down with a glass of Sauvignon for me and a Rosé for Chris. It is somewhere to back to for sure. :-D It seems to be all Mediterannean based. Nice outdoor sitting area too with tables. I don't know how far from you it would be Frank and it is not somehwere that sell plants etc, but a very beautiful place.
This morning I went to collect my prescription (again) only to discover they seemed to have lost it :-S :-S So that has been 2 wasted trips. I have just one tablet left for tonight ,so it had better be ready tomorrow. It was put in as Urgent so it should be done. That is my gripe today over.
Best get on with dinner now

Morning all,
Grey norning again today but its not cold infact I am quite hot. At least its dry and not that horrid fine rain stuff that gets everywhere.
Nothing planned for today just the usual jobs of washing and cleaning the bathrooms.
Oh has taken a pictures of the baby wrens in their nest in his filter shed. He said he just missed one with its mouth open. There seems to be only two. I will send the picture on.
Only five posts yesterday?? You must have all been busy doing other things.

Morning Mel and all, Evening Kim,
Wall to Wall sunshine here, and very hot with it. All doors and windows open, and yours truly in a pair of shorts.
I suppose Oundle is about 20 miles from here Jane. In fact there was a restaurant I often used called BARNWELL MILL. Where you can see the river under the mill in the reception. I don't know if it's still in existence. Would you look in your local directory to see if it's listed. I have searched on line without any luck.
Rockingham Castle was built by William the conquer (sp) nearly 1,000 years ago. It sits on top of a hill with the most wonderful views for miles and miles. Parking fees are included in the entrance fees. But I think £46.00 for 4 people is a bit steep.
Ros is at the hospital again this morning at 11.40 am. She's just waiting for Carolyn at the moment.
I am feeling a bit better this morning after another good night sleep.
We are constantly getting notices from the police of Break ins at properties in local villages. I have have three this morning. I keep posting on the Village Notice board for people to keep their eyes and ears open and report to the police anything unusual. A dog and her puppies were stolen the other day.
I have the washing to hang out, so I am off.
See you later.

Afternoon All
Glad you are feeling better today Frank. I hope Ros doesn't flake out in the heat at the hospital today. They are always far too hot in my mind and with this hot humid weather today I imagine it won't be very pleasant.
Barnwell Mill is still there Frank ,although that is one place I have never visited. Oh Frank,I hate when I hear of Dogs and their Pups being stolen . They are usually sold on or used for Breeding. What B ******S.
It is so hot now and feels very sticky. The big fan is on here :-D
I will check on Barnwell Mill for you . But I am giving the laptop a rest for the rest of the day until this evening as my fingers /hands are particularly bad today :-S
Just looked Frank and it has shut.

Thanks for that Jane, I was going to book to take Ros there for our anniversary, but there are plenty of places that I am sure she will like. I will have a look round on the web later. So it looks like you won't be going there either. !!! Sorry your hands/fingers are sore today. Is the cream not doing any good ?? thinking of you xxxx
I have hung the washing out and put the bathroom mats in the Tumble dryer. I have also got rid of the old fly screen and put a new one up. It needs adjusting at the top, as the magnets are just not meeting. It will only need a drawing pin at the top to bring it together.
Not sure what meat we will have tonight. There is beef from yesterday, pulled pork in the fridge, together with chicken breasts. I have scrapped potato's. Done Runners, Broad beans, brussels, Asparagus, Peas and carrots. So will leave it to Ros to decide when she gets home. WHEN being the operative word <3 <3 <3 <3
Still very hot here,I haven't ventured out in it as I don't want to get burnt. Hope it holds out for the BBQ on Sunday for Alexander's Birthday Party. JELLY AND CREAM anyone ???
I see from the news that they have names for the 22 dead in Manchester. There are 60 odd people in hospital, 20 of which are in a serious conditions, included possible amputations and vital organ damage. So the numbers could still go up. I am having trouble getting over this tragedy. Those poor parents and relatives.

Afternoon All,
Phew and more phew! It was showing 29 degrees in the car earlier. Far too hot for me and I'm in knee length shorts. It was a relief to have the bedroom window open last night though. :-)
We ate at Ullesthorpe Court today as I fancied their fish goujons with frites and salad. :-D Would you believe it they had changed the menu and they weren't on it!! lol. Luckily with being regulars, when I mentioned I'd been looking forward to their fish goujons, they offered to ask the chef if he could do them for me and he did! What good service! I had to be careful not to grab the doorframe going up their step on the way in as they are being redecorated at the moment and have just built a lovely raised area outside where you can have your meal looking over the trees.
Mandy I have my glass thing and will send a pic.:-) It turned out alright, but because it got quite dim where we were sitting, some bits I picked up to do the foamy bits of the waves were actually more cream than white and have turned yellow with the firing! I was going to put it on the bathroom window sill but OH is worried about the sun coming through it like a magnifying glass and setting something on fire so it will probably go on the utility room window sill as the sun never shines on that window.
I don't envy Ros her hospital trip today with how stuffy it is in hospitals Frank. Hopefully she wasn't there long. It's good you are feeling better today, but don't do too much!
I hope they had your prescription this time Jane. Do you think the creams are improving things? It must be painful and a real nuisance having to be so careful with your fingers.
OH never went to his match last night as he was too weary. He's just said he's not going to tonight's game he had planned either.......too hot!!!
I wanted to get some scarlet snapdragons yesterday to dot between the shrubs. I've tried about 5 places now including Sainsbury's but they seem to have every colour but red!!

Good afternoon all
Baking hot here today, this is when I miss living by the sea. Had my 6 month check up with the dentist this morning, all ok, just need to make an appointment with the hygienist. Paul looked after Ruby. so I walked to the surgery it takes about half an hour, all right going but coming back I felt really wobbly probably because of the heat then when I got home the young madam decided to leave the house at a rate of knots, Paul caught up with her when she stopped to have a sniff.
She went to the vets yesterday for a check up with one of the nurses and given a worm tablet, she had put on a kilo from last month when we were there she met a 7 month old chocolate Labrador who was just as bouncy as her but as you can imagine he was enormous compared to her, made me think of Max.
Abigail fell out with her mother again last week and went to stay at her latest boyfriend's home for a few days, this one is named David. We had to smile as he is forever falling out with his Mum too so home from home except that his Dad is a lawyer and they live in a large detached house in Ascot quite near to the race course and Mum has her own company.
It's so tragic reading about all the young people being killed and maimed in Manchester. I felt really sad when the Mum that was appealing for help to locate her daughter only to be told she was one of the girls that has lost her life, how can people be so evil to kill so many innocent people and to ruin their families lives for ever

Ann, that was good of the Chef to do your Fish Goujons for you :-D. I wonder why they weren't on the menu today. I quite like Haddock Goujons that I found in M&S We have Tesco finest Beer Battered Cod tonight,Triple Cooked chips (naughty) courtesy of McCains and Peas.
Oh Naughty Ruby Anne.Did she actually get out onto the pavement? Trouble is they are so quick once they get in their head to leg it. When we had Chester as a pup he would slip out the front door and go through the hedge run across their garden then out on to the pavement and down the drive of the next house to the front door.It was where Meg the Collie lived :-D,and Chester loved going there. I can't remember how many times I chased after him. I am not surprised you felt a bit wobbly after that walk in this heat today.it has been a bit of a stonker hasn't it. So a new boyfriend for Abbie. They obviously have something in common lol (falling out with Mums :-D).It sounds quite a grand house.
I don't think the cream I have been using is really doing any good now on my fingers. Chris has suggested I use the other cream I had for my tum as it a weaker strengh of Steroid cream. These tapes that I have on are very good. There is almost an immediate feeling of relief. But I just look like I have a load of sellotape around all my fingers. It says to keep on for 12 hours, but during the day it is not so practical as they can peel off when I do things. I did get my prescription this morning ,but once again they didn't seem to have it.So I had to go back through to the reception for the surgery and they said it had definitely gone through electronically .They even gave me the bar code number to show pharmacy. It was there :-) I think I will in future just take any prescription to Tesco. They seem far more organised there. I have my haircut tomorrow, and it is desperately needing colour. But I still have the Psoriasis on my scalp so will probably have to still wait. My Sister said why don't I just go natural now,but I don't want to have grey hair :-| :-|.Saying that there is probably more grey than colour now.
Something really spooked Thomas today.I have no idea what.He was really weird and was taking steps in real slow motion looking around him all the time(even under the summerhouse. The only thing I could really think of was that there has been a Muntjac (barking) probably somewhere in next doors garden .
I have caught up this afternoon with all the epsiodes so far of The Trial :-D. it was a good excuseto sit and not use my hands :-D

Evening all
Very very hot here today, as was yesterday too. it showed 22 and a half degrees at 11pm last night, needless to say I didn't get much sleep so I fell asleep a couple of hours ago and have only just woken up. Looks like it's going to get hotter before the weekend.
I mentioned to OH and Sandra before that we haven't seen any planes go over to Manchester airport today. What a shock to hear the news of the tragedy. One of the children killed was only 8 years old.
I've been really busy over the last few days in the garden fixing the screening, doing some weeding and moving some pots around, I've also put some stakes in the pots the tomatoes are in and re-potted some plants as the roots were starting to come through the bottom of the pots. I've even done some more cuttings, so really busy. I didn't finished the screening until 10pm last night then had a bath and when straight to bed.
I've not caught up with the posts yet, so hope everyone is okay.

Evening all,
Phew it's been hot here today ,the fan has come in from the shed for the first time this year ,oh what bliss to have that lovely cool air ,Max eyed the fan up and decided he might like a chew on the buttons on the front ,a quick aye from Colin and he left it alone little devil. I meant to say he actually cocked his leg the other day Max i mean not Colin LOL first time i've seen him do that ,he's lazy and just squats down usually.
Oh lovely Ann i'm looking forward to seeing it , i move glass things from the window sills this time of the year ,the sun can be strong through the glass and i don't want a fire .
I thought you seemed a bit down the other day Frank , glad your feeling a bit brighter now and getting your jobs done . Yes Jelly and cream for me or even better Jelly and Blancmange :-D
Anne it's nice when you come away from the dentist knowing you don't need and treatment , i should think it was the walk in the heat that made you a little wobbly ,did you take a bottle of water with you so you could have a drink ? Little minx Ruby trying to escape out the door ,she wanted to go walkies on her own .
Your poor fingers Jane ,as you say it must be a heck of a job to keep the tape in place during the day when your doing jobs . Has the infection you had in the nail bed cleared up ? We've had trouble with prescriptions when they send them through to boots electronically,it seems to take longer for them to do ,they are never ready .
I need to take Max walkies now it was to hot to go just after lunch when we normally go ,it's so muggy i might leave it a little longer .

Jane I have been using my hands up the border. I did HW this morning then lumch and washed up then up the border. I am still digging out twitch and bindweed. I now have a space to put in my snapdragons. The bearded iris are still flowering and the red roses are coming out on the wall. The light blue delphinium is atarting to flower and they peonies are still in bud, big fat round ones. The snails have taken four of the flowering tops off one of my delphiniums so I must cut those down and may get another flowering of of them.
Jane I should think the doc should give you some different cream if what you have is not doing any good. Your poor fingers, I do feel sorry for you as this has been going on for a long time now. Go on go grey I am now.
No Gill today. I wonder what she has been up to? If it hot where she is she won't be in the garden thats for sure. It turned sunny here after my post this morning and has been beautiful all day and hot with it. I could'nt go up the garden in my wellies and had to put my rubber shoe things on instead. Last year the deer and rabbits ate my perenniel white geranium this year it has been lovely and I see it has sowed its self right among the bearded iris. They will have to be thinned out the year as they are taking up too much room without flowering on a lot of the rizomes.
Frank it good you had another great nights sleep I hope it carries on for you. <3

Gill you have been a busy bee.It must have been so dark by the time you finished the screening last night !!!!
Mandy I hope the buttons stay on the fan :-D.Hopefully Max won't try and have a go when no-one is looking LOL. The infection in my little finger is clearing up well.It is just sore now where the pus came out ,but the redness has gone down a lot now.I can bend it properly .
Mel I don't want to go grey ! Chris says I am just being vain :-S :-P :-P
Lovely evening now.It has cooled off a lot but not a breath of wind.I can see it being a bit of a stuffy nights sleep(even with windows open.) Dinner nearly ready now. I am looking forward to this Fish and Chips :-D

Jane they change the whole menu every so often like Ascough's do, it wasn't just not on the menu today.
Mandy, I expect young Max tries his black chops on everything new, the tinker. It's good he took notice when Colin disapproved though.
Mel I have just been out with some slug pellets. They have eaten 5 of my nice Petunias right back to stalks!! :-S I expect all the rain we had has brought them out. I've also had to put ant bait in the greenhouse or they'll be nipping my legs when I plant things up.
I find the heat can make me feel shaky sometimes Anne so I expect that was what it was. That was quite a walk both ways too. Fancy Miss Lightning Legs whizzing out like that! She doesn't miss a chance does she! At least Abbi has something in common with her new boyfriend then! They can both complain about their mums!! :-)
I'm meeting up with a couple of old work friends at a garden centre tomorrow morning. I bet it will be boiling so I won't be liking that. I must remember to have a cold drink!

It was still light Jane when we finished the screening, it doesn't get dark here till around 10.30 10.45pm. Maybe it's because we are in the far West. The sunset was beautiful though, a lovely pink colour. Mind you once it starts to go dark it doesn't take very long for it to be pitch black. By the time I got out of the bath it was really dark, but not much cooler. I think the only reason I managed to do all the work yesterday is because there was plenty of cloud and a nice breeze, had it been full sun like it was today it would of been to hot for me. Sorry to hear your hands are still playing you up.
You did make me giggle Mandy when you said it was Max who cocked leg, not Colin. I'm still smiling about it now :-D
Pleased to hear the bees are gone now Ann and you can finally open your window without worrying about them getting into your bedroom. It must of felt so much better than having the window shut with all this heat we're having lately.
It sounds like you've been busy in your garden Mel. It sounds very colourful with all the plants you were mentioning.
