Morning Mel, and all, evening Kim,
Another beautiful morning here. I was up just before 8.00 am. put the kettle on and opened all the doors and windows. The fly screen is fine now after my small alteration. As you walk through it,it just clicks on the magnets. (who's a clever boy then )
I do envy you girls with all your "get up and go" in the garden. I get up, and sit down again !!!
Bed all changed again today. I have put the line up, so it will go out as soon as the WM finishes.
Ruby is getting more like a Greyhound chasing out of the door like that. She's beginning to feel her feet now Anne.
Mandy, when we had dogs they each had a beef shin bone, with the marrow taken out. They were about 8 inches long. They would stand them on the end, held between their paws and chew the other end. Try getting one for MAX It will keep his teeth nice and sharpe, and perhaps keep his mind off your buttons on the FAN. as well as other things. IT MIGHT HELP> !!!!
Lewis is coming up this afternoon to see us and pick up Harvey and Julia's Anniversary present. They are off to France on Friday for a week. Poor Julia was told she will be made redundant next month. It's to do with the school changing to something else (I can't think what it is) It might come to me later.
We both had a good night last night. The first time in years Ros didn't have to get out for the toilet, when she did at 7.30 this morning, she got back in bed and slept until 9.45 am So that was brilliant for her.
Val next door is lying fully clothed on the chair in the middle of the MEDOW full of buttercups and daisies, dandelions and grass about 8 inches high. He hasn't bothered to cut his lawn since he hs been home from holiday. Disgraceful, LAZY and so inconsiderate as a husband and a MAN. The only thing of interest to him is HIMSELF, BEER and eating out. Leaving her to get on with it. I don't know how I keep my mouth shut. !!!! :-0 :-0 :-0 :-P :-P :-P Poor Ros spends lots of time pulling bindweed from the fence, because they never touch it. I can see I will be putting down some weed killer on their side of the fence.
I can't go and sit under the shade of my Cherry tree anymore. So will stay in the lounge for now. and have a read.
Hope everyone is well and don't work to hard in those gardens. xxx

Good afternoon all
Another warm day today so Ruby had an early walk after Sainsburys had delivered they came at 8.15 with everything that was ordered. They had 25% off all wines so I bought a dozen bottles, Ruby was under House Arrest when they called so she couldn't do a runner like yesterday. She is fast asleep now having eaten a dish of Coley.
Pleased to hear you have been sleeping better Frank. I do feel sorry for Val having such an inconsiderate and selfish husband. It will be nice seeing Lewis today and hearing all his news.
Loved the photos of the baby wrens in their nest Mel something not seen very often
Ann please may I see your stained glass pictures

Afternoon All,
Just booked table for Sunday 4th June, Also ordered a Rose and Stock Bouquet for Saturday our Anniversary. She loves Stocks and Ros's, so I should be in her good books. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Lewis has just arrived, his Nan is making him Salmon and Salad sandwiches so they won't last long. He has grown even more since I last saw him. He will be 19 in September, so quite a young man.
I am getting the mower ready for Jan to take back to Devon. I will give it a good brushing and put it plastic bags, to save it dirtying the car.
Very humid here now, cloud cover makes it even worse. Once it cools down a bit, I will get the hose out and give everywhere a soaking. The hanging baskets are now in situ. So I must make sure I don't miss those, or there will be trouble. !!!
So young Ruby was grounded !! it's best to be safe than sorry. She could easily get knocked down even on a quiet road.
The Glass was very interesting Ann. I didn't know they were made from bits of broken glass, you had to be careful not to cut yourself. What a clever old thing you are xxxx
Mel, seeing those photo's of the wrens bought back memories from Gayton. We had a bird box on a pole in the front garden, where the Wren's nested. When the babies left the box, our old cat "STAMP" jumped up a grabbed one of the chicks. Fortunately Ros was on hand to grab him and he spat it out and went into the bushes. Another life saved.
Going to get a cold drink. NO not a beer.

Afternoon all from a hot and sweaty me. Just got in from te hairdressers and a quick visit to Sainsbury. My word it is hot and sticky now. I had to take my bra off the minute I got through the door .That is one bit of clothing that gets so uncomfortable when it is so hot like this. Ann I bought some wine in Sainsbury but just 3 bottles.I didn't realise they had the 25% off on 6 or more. Also I bought my self a top ad James a short sleeve shirt. 25% of them .
The young lad who washes my hair is called Adam. He has always been very effeminate .But today I saw a big change. He has makeup on ,a Pony tail and had had his eyebrows dyed. He is apparently transitioning .He is just 19. Hopefully it will all go smoothly for him and that he gets no teasing etc.I know that all the staff will be behind him .
So Lewis is even taller still Frank !.He must be about fully grown now.Although I think that boys carry on growing a bit longer than girls. Bet it was lovely to see him today. He always sounds like a very nice young man.
Where have you booked for your meal on the 4th?
Hopefully Ruby will soon learn that she can't just 'leg it' Anne. She is still young and still learning. My sister used t ohave terrible troubles with one of her dogs escaping. As soon as the front door was open he would squeeze through and be off like the wind, with Janice haring along after him. He got a long way sometimes :-S
I like the sound of your trousers with the anchors on Mandy.I used to have cropped trousers but not for the last few years..I just feel I am better in full length .
The big long fridges in Sainsbury were not cold enough in the heat and had shutters pulled down .There was a chap going around with a special thermometer checking each one.Good job I didn't need anything fresh in the meat departments.
I am going to have to go and sit by the big fan before I melt.

I did Lidl and got home early enough to have a potter in the shed. I have fed the strawberry plants and was just getting into the watering of other things when oh decided he was going in the shower. Ah I hear it has just gone off so he will be out in a min but now it is time to start on dinner. We have lamb chops, Jersey Royals brocc and carrots.
Mandy your trousers sound nice but I have never worn those cropped ones. I think I am too short and they make me look even fatter than I am. You have to be careful when your only 5'2 and a half.
Little monkey Ruby taking off when the door was opened. They're so quick!! wish I had some of that get up and go.

Evening All,
Well I found my thinnest baggy top to wear with my cropped jeans this morning and we made for the shadiest corner at the garden centre cafe. I would have gone in the air conditioned part, but one of my friends is a sun lover and would happily have sat in the sun! My friend who's hubby had a brain bleed last autumn and had a heart attack last month is having a difficult time. He needs full time care now and she is finding it difficult as he is getting panicky if she goes out. It's understandable as his sight, mobility and memory are affected poor man. Before I came away I had another look for some red snapdragons, but no joy so I got some mixed ones as they looked really healthy.
Mandy my cropped trousers have white leaf sprigs on them! :-) I haven't seen the ones with anchors on yet but might go and have a look. Being stretchy they are so comfy! When it's really hot I don't really care if they make me look shorter.........distract with a smile and nice top I say!! lol.
Anne, I have sent you an email.........apologies!
Beading tomorrow so cool clothes again! The room gets very hot as there is a floor to ceiling window one end so I sit the other end near the door which we can leave open.
I've managed to plant up a few of the pots tonight but had to come in just now as I was dripping with the heat. OH has been and watered what I have planted.
It looks like the sale of the bungalow opposite has fallen through as the 'sold' sign has been removed. As well as the builder's vehicles in the close, there are vehicles parked where someone is having landscaping of the back garden done and also vehicles where one of the bungalows is having the garage converted into a room. It's like a slalom getting down to the bottom where we are.

Your OH was lucky Mel. I mowed the back lawn and watered everywhere including the veg patch and flower beds. I came in totally wacked out, and decided a shower would help me settle down. No such luck. LOW PRESSURE IN THE SHOWER. I have been in and out every 20 minutes and it's still the same. I can see I will end up with a wash down !!!
It has been so humid this afternoon, Lewis and Ros sat on the patio while I sweated my whatsit's off Lewis came down as I was almost finished and said "Pap I will do that for you" to late old son.!!! He promised to ring when he got home. STILL WAITING. Have tried ringing but engaged. I will try again in a mo.
Eye drop time again. So I had better go and have them.

Morning all,
Another nice day ,just walked Max before it gets hotter so he's now crashed out on the cool tiles in the conservatory.
Ann i tried a pair of those stretch trousers on with the leaf sprigs on them but i thought they might be a bit to clingy with the heat so thats why i opted for the cotton ones .
Lovely to hear from Liz again she seems to be coming along so well now .
Better get my ironing done now while theres a nice breeze coming in and i must remember to get the fish cakes from the freezer for our meal tonight .
Mel i keep meaning to ask has all your itching cleared up now ?

Morning all,
Had a lie in this mor ing.... Yes Mandy my itching does seem to have cleared up if I keep using the Doublbase Gel stuff for washing hands and showering. The think I have now is achey joints in my hands and feet, toes. Its in the bases of them and I am wondering if its the new pill the doc gave me on the 4th May or whether its just the gardening, pulling out weeds and roots.
Anyway enough about me was'nt it lovely to hear from Liz and how she is recovering so well after her operation. She sound like she is more or less back to normal and she can cut her toenails which is more than I can do sometimes!!!
Another beautiful day here and the boil wash is on the line so I need to get another lot in while t he weather holds.

Your an early bird Mandy, Good morning to you and Mel, Good morning to all you lazy bones, Evening Kim.
Well at 11.00pm the power came on the shower, too late. I had already had a wash down. So I had a good shower and washed my hair this morning.
Yes, it's good to hear Liz is getting back to her old self. I bet she is as brown as a berry with all this sunshine, and sitting out in it. Keep it up Liz. xxxx
Well it seems all this sleep has taken it's toll. I was still wide awake at 3.00 am. Bur stayed in bed, and finally dropped off I was awake again by 7.00 am.
I need a review of my prescriptions, so rang this morning (LATE) to see if I could have a call. To late, but they have an appointment free at 5.00 pm. So not only have I to go for my injection at 11.30 am. Ros at 3.00 pm and now me again at 5.00 pm. We will know our way to the surgery . :-D :-D
I had better get my skates on, and get dressed.
See you all later.

Afternoon All
Who were calling lazy bones Frank !!. I'll have you know I was down at Tesco by 9.30 to take our kettle back. Only had it for 2 or 3 months, but when it boiled the flip lid kept popping up whichwas pretty dangerous as water still boiling and bubbling :-S. It took ages for them to sort it for me as I had no receipt and there was no bar code on the bottom of the kettle. But finally I got my replacement.I will make sure I hang on to this receipt as it has a 3 yr guarentee . It was so busy there.I think everyone just wanted to get out and back home again before it got too hot. Loads of BBQ food ,charcoal ,booze etc flying off the shelves.I did get some more wine as it is still 25% off 6 bottles or more( I just got the 6 :-D ) I also bought another fan.Just a nine inch desk fan.The one we had in the bedroom last night sounded like we were in a wind tunnel !!
It is so hot again now. Chris has gone for a Siesta after nearly melting in the garden planting Beans etc. Thomas has just come in through the patio doors and flopped out on the floor in front of the big fan.I am sprawled on the settee with feet facing the fan and have a huge jug of iced corial beside me. I must have got through a litre already.
You could get to your surgery blindfolded Frank :-D.. 3 trips in one day !!!
I bet Ann was so hot at her Beading Class this morning.I think I would have had to give it a miss in this heat.
Liz sounds great doesn't she :-D and has made a brilliant recovery since her op. Lots of love Liz <3

Thats seems silly to me if you have already an appointment for your injection Frank.
I mended a very very old smock the other day so I could wear it in the garden as its one of those sailors smocks and dos'nt make you hot or stick to the plants in the border. It had holes in the front on one of the pockets so I thought I would put a patch on it with some iron on stuff. I did it inside the pocket and outside but lost the bloody stuff so cut a bit off an old denium shirt I was throwing away. Anyway that worked ok so off I went up the border.
Today I washed oh's only white shirt that fits him and it dried really well on the line with the wind thats blowing and the sunshine. Brought it in and plugged the iron in and started on the back of the collar with the tip of the iron on the seems. Having got to nearly the end of the collar I put the full iron on it and as I took it away there was a huge rust coloured mark over a third of the white collar!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My goodness I looked at the bottom of the iron and there was the missing bit of iron on patc h I lost the other day. Cleaned all the iron and thought thank goodness oh was in the garden. Whatam I going to tell him when he comes in that I have ruined his new shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 :-0 Well I thought where is my Sicky Stuff Remover? Found it and put some on a piece of Plenty kitchen roll and had a go on the bit that was on the ironing board cover. It worked so I had a good scrubb on the collar and low and behold after three lots of removerer it came out. Phew...... then I had to wash the colar again and bunged it out on the line once more.
He came in as I was on the last bit but did'nt notice what I was doing so I am just hoping that when I ron it again it dos'nt come up as stained.
I'll let you know...........

Hi all from a very shaky Frankie Boy,
I walked to the Dr's this morning and had my injection. I mentioned to the nurse about having to come back at 5.00 pm. She was quite surprised, and said I'll be back in a Mo. She reappeared with a Dr. I went into his room and went through my prescription list with him. He said while you are hereI will take your BP SPOT ON 124 over 78. He was very pleased and said arrange a Blood Test within the next couple of months. I came out of there feeling cock a hoot. Walked back home, and felt very shaky. It might be that I did too much yesterday.
It's a good job I got dinner ready for tonight before I went. Did home made chips, mushrooms, onions and made the pepper sauce. All I have to do tonight is grill the steaks, fry the mushrooms and onions and of course the chips.
Ros has been to the nurse this afternoon and had a lot of tests on her BP and how the blood is flowing through her legs and ankles. All seems alright, but it looks like she will have to continue wearing these stockings, when she asked HOW LONG. she replied FOR EVER. That really pleased her NOT.
I have cleaned the mower for Jan and some muck blew into my right eye. It's been sore all day, even though Ros put Optrex in it. I hope I haven't scratched my eye.Now what with drops in my left eye, it looks like I will be having optrex in my right eye. All I need now is a "WHITE STICK"
That was not good about your kettle Jane. You had better luck than I did with a kettle from Curry's No way would they give me a replacement without the receipt. Poor old Chris. He should have waited until this evening before planting. No wonder he was whacked out !!!
Mel, I had a blue fishing smock that lasted me all my time fishing over many years. It ended up being thrown away after getting battery acid on it from the battery in the boot of Ros's MG B. or I would still have it today. Smashing bit of clothing that let the air swirl around under it, keeping you nice and cool out at sea.
I hope you girls haven't got yourselves sun burnt today. It's still very hot here even with the breeze.

Afternoon all
Boy what a hot day, the hottest so far this year here I think.
I've got mum staying with me at the moment as she had to go into hospital for a test for her bowel cancer, to make sure it hasn't come back.
We've been sitting in the shade outside for a few hours which was nice, but she's tired now and has gone for a lay down. I'm making sweet and sour chicken for dinner with some boiled rice, that should be nice and light for her as she had to be sedated this morning and it's a bit to hot for a heavy hot meal.
I haven't had a chance to read the post yet, hope everyone is okay and enjoying this wonderful weather.

I ironed the shirt and all was well with the collar BUT there is a rustyish mark on it about 5 inches below the right armpit. It may be from the beech tree as all its little leaf cases are falling off today and blowing toward the line. His waistcoat will cover tht up. Talk about fated last time I ironed it it did'nt iron well and now this time, well.. he has only worn it twice for a funeral each time!
Hope your mums tests were clear for her Gill. Sending love. <3
Did your mum like Sandra's present I made her? Don't think I shall be doing much sewing at the moment unless my achey fingers start to get better.
Jane good that the wine offer was still on. Why did'nt you go for it and have a dozen bottles. I am sure they would all get drunk in time. ;-) Poor old Thomas he can't take his clothes off like we can. I do feel for pets in this weather. I have'nt been out there much today but oh has. The heat dos'nt seem to bother him much. He tells me his a lizard really...........ha ha
Poor Max and Ruby both having black coats. They must feel the heat something shocking.

Great BP Frank. Just like a young mans :-D Thank goodness you managed to not have to do another trip there today. Oh dear poor Ros.I can just imagine how she must feel beingtold she will always have to wear those stockings(and in this heat too !! :-S)
Thomas is really feeling it again today. He has been lying under the hedge this afternoon and just came in .I didn't see him and took a step back and stood on him. He gave a great yelp and ran off.I don't think I really hurt him though.
Gill ,Iam guessing your Mum has had a Colonoscopy today .That is enough to exhaust her.Hopefully all is clear and she gets the results soon.Has she had a good rest now?
Mel maybe a second white shirt is a good idea for OH.Just to have as a spare .Asyou say though if his waistcoat covers the marks it should be fine. James bought a lovely white shirt for summer the other week with a Grandad collar(no collar). It looks really nice on him. Chris has some shirts like that too and they also suit him.But he only wears them in the summer either in the garden or on holiday. They look nice as they are not tucked in :-)
James is having curry in a minute !!!. I couldn't face that today. So it is Meatballs and Spag with Garlic Bread for us two. Then James is off to Jess for the BH weekend and won't be back until Monday afternoon. I doubt it will be a very pleasant drive down to Chislehurst this evening with all the other travellers getting away.I am glad I am not going anywhere :-D
Mel I only got 6 bottles as I got 3 yesterday ,plus we still have some others. But I find Tesco doesn't have such a good choice of white wine as they used to. I like Aldi wines plus they are really good value. I think I must have got through about 2 litres of cordial today!!.. Time for a glass of wine now :-D.Chris is having a Pernod.
I would love a little shower of rain right now.I would just go and stand outside :-D :-D
Is anyone doing anything special for the Bank Hol ?

Evening All,
I had a good sleep last night, window open and just a sheet on top of me. It was just as well as a delivery of plasterboards arrived for the builder just before 8.00am. The lorry couldn't back down the close as the landscape vehicles were there and the builder converting the garage had vehicles parked. So what the delivery lorry did was park right up the close and use a forklift truck to ferry small loads of the plasterboards at a time down past us to the new properties. The trouble is as soon as those forklift trucks move they kick up an infernal beeping that doesn't stop till they do and that started the dog next door in a frenzy of barking! Still it did get me up in good time.
Frank I bet you could get to your surgery blindfolded! :-) It was good the doc did your review while you were there to save you going back. Your BP was good wasn't it. :-) I would hate to have to wear those stockings every day, it would be so hot. I sympathise with Ros. I hope you feel a bit better now.
It was quite nice at first at beading this morning near the door as a bit of breeze was coming in. Then one of my friends came in and said she'd have to shut the door as there was a draught on her neck. After half an hour I was sweltering and you should have seen the shock on her face when I showed her the palms of my hands, wet and dripping with the heat. I think some folk that don't feel the heat don't really believe it till they see it!! Anyway, she moved a bit further down then and offered to open the door a bit while I mopped my face and hands with a tissue. :-S
Mandy that's a good point about the trousers......looser is cooler.
Mel, that's typical it happens with a white shirt isn't it! You did well to get most of the stain out. I remember OH making a fuss when some dye ran when one of my coloured tops got mixed in with some of his stuff in the washer years ago.......he didn't seem to like his pants in pink!!! lol. :-D They shouldn't grumble really, I told OH I'd ruined several tops over the years with cooking splashes like fat, so at least he didn't have his things ruined doing that!
While I was out this morning, he decided himself to do a quick hoover through to get most of the bits up, then went out and did some weeding so I was really pleased about that. It's nice when things get done without a lot of asking!! :-)
I managed to find a mini cue plant at a garden centre this afternoon, then went to mooch around Asda as it was nice and cool in there.
