O Frank you lucky lucky boy to see your son and have a nice hug. I wish mine woukld turn up like that and give me a hug but I don't think that will ever happen. It brought a tear to my eye. That must be a very special girl he has found himself there and I hope they will be very happy together and you see more of him. I did'nt know your son had a narrowboat.
Going in the shower now as I feel all sticky after cooking this afternoon. I made 24 sauage rolls and 4 jam tarts.

The doctor has just been I wasn't expecting him till after 5pm he said it's an inner ear infection, he's prescribed some antibiotics and a tablet I have to dissolve at the side of my gum to take away the sickness feeling. OH has just gone to the chemist to get it for me. I had to follow the doctors finger while touching my nose then his finger, that didn't help as I feel more sick now than before. I'm going to have a lay down as I've got a terrible headache. Hopefully the tables will kick in soon and I'll start feeling less ill. You're right Mel, it's not nice feeling dizzy and sick day and night especially after 4 days. OH and Sandra have been great helping me get around as walking isn't easy at the moment.
OH lost his job Mel, so he's here to help me which I'm grateful for.

Mel my sweet, I missed your post, thanks so much for your kind words. You like me wish and hope our children come back into the cold. My daughter hasn't made contact with me for over 15 years. I expect you can realise the elation I felt to see him standing on my doorstep. If he had come five minutes later we would have been out.
Gill when did your OH loose his job. ?? has he been made redundant or was he just fired, or did he resign ?? I'm so sorry to hear this news. How are you going to manage until he finds more work. ?? is there any employment available to him in your area.?? My thoughts are with you and your family.
Vegetables all done, apart from the spuds. Lamb shanks in the gravy ready to go in the oven later.
It looks like the washing might be dry, I'll go out and feel it, if it is I will fold it up in the basket ready for another ironing day tomorrow. A MAN'S work is never done. !!!

OH lost his job when he was off sick. The head nurse told him not to go in to work if he wasn't well which he didn't, he lost his voice so I rang his works to let them know that he wouldn't be in for a while and that he'd take a sick note in when he was well enough to drive to get one. This message wasn't passed on so OH got a letter saying it was gross misconduct and that it was instant dismissal. He went to see his boss, as she was on holiday when all this happened, but she was useless so in the end he decided not to go back. Luckily we have a few bob in the bank so at least we can pay our bills for a while. OH is thinking of starting up his own gardening/handyman business, so we'll have to see how that goes, if it happens.
The tablet I took for the sickness seems to be kicking in which is great, but my right ear feels like it's on fire. I've taken the first antibiotic but don't expect those to work for a few days, at least I feel slightly better than I did an hour ago. I've also had some dry toast which they say helps with sickness and my headache has eased a lot too. Still feeling dizzy though.

Oh Gill that is terrible news that your OH has lost his job could he not go to the tribunal as it looks to me that he has a good case as he has done nothing wrong and in the job he had he certainly couldn't go in sick. From many years doing payroll I thought you had to give an employee a verbal and then a written warning before dismissal there were exceptions of course such as stealing or being drunk on duty but certainly not being off sick. Ann, I have just seen your lovely photos of the vicarage garden I have always wanted a walled garden. This new email system takes some getting used to as it had put your photos in junk mail without alerting me to that.

Gill i hope you soon feel better with the help of these antibiotics ,it must be rotten for you feeling like that ,hopefully now you've had the sickness tablet that should help too. I'm sorry to hear OH has lost his job ,surely they carn't just sack him like that ,as Anne says perhaps he needs to go to a tribunal .
Oh dear Anne has Ruby been naughty as she's shut in her cage or is it because of the widow cleaning ?

Back and unpacked and just had a drink and a choc eclair.
I don't think thas on with Glynn getting told not to come in anymore. I would go to a tribunal. They would'nt expect him to ocme in and look after ederly folk if he was passing on germs to them.
Glad the doc came earlier than expected and you have been given something to stop the sickness feeling. Lets hope the antibiotics kick in now and you feel much better so.

Gill like the others said, that is unfair dismissal and any Solicitor would be pleased to take on your case. Even better get it for free, go and see your Local CAB. They can be very helpful in these matters. They got me compensation some years back when a Company I worked for wanted to change my wage structure. Glad you are feeling a little better after the Doctor's visit..
It's the best part of the day now. We have clear blue sky's and sunshine. Whereas this afternoon it was cloudy, and I expected to see rain. Fortunately we got the washing all dry, and is ready for ironing.
I'm sure Jane and Chris had a lovely afternoon and meal for their Anniversary. I bet they are having a few zzz after a nice meal and a drop of wine.
That Blo@@y BGT is on for the next hour or so. That is beyond me how they get so excited about such mediocre entertainment, How they can call it Britain's Got Talent, when they come from all over the world. !!!
Ebay here I come. Might pop back a little later.

Mel thought Frank had thanked all of us 'girls' ;-) for our kind words at 10.46am this morning. I bet he has been 'walking on air' with a smile on his face today!!
Oh Gill, where to start! I'm so sorry for you feeling so ill. It is awful feeling too sick to go to the doctors. I was like that when OH took me to A&E last year and it took hours to go off. I'm glad the anti sickness tablet seems to be starting to work now and hopefully by tomorrow the antibiotics will have started to work.
Your poor hubby getting dismissed like that. Anne is quite right about there having to be warnings before dismissal. There seems to be a problem full stop with messages getting passed on at that place but no apparent consequence to the employees involved in the 'forgetting.' :-S If you did decide to do something about it, you have to follow correct procedures. You can't go straight to a tribunal, you have to appeal against their decision in writing first and set out why you think that dismissal was wrong/unfair. It would be good to look at their staff rules about notifying sickness to start with as employers don't all have the same rules eg not all employers require medical evidence. If they have set out that they regularly make contact with people off sick, did they do that, that sort of thing. CAB that's suggested will help.
Anne I would like a walled garden too, on a much smaller scale though and with a nice water feature and trickling water and fish and with things growing up the walls!! :-D Also relaxing comfy seating. It's good that they collected lots of money for the Parkinsons fund. It all helps!
Mandy I hadn't heard of dry socket before. I hope your son will soon lose the pain as it must be miserable for him, especially if he is trying to work as well. Have you seen Nico again lately?

At last !! The internet has been off for ages tonight :-S. So just a quick post in case it goes again.
We had a smashing lunch today. We had a table right at the open doors of the Conservatory where there was a lovely gentle breeze :-D. No room for desert so just the starter and main and a really lovely wine.It was one we had a lot of in Lyon but it was cheap there lol.But as it was our anniversary we decided to splash out .It was worth it :-D
Gill, that is shocking the way OH was dismissed from his job.I am sure that must be classed as unfair dismissal. I am really sorry <3
I hope now you have antibiotics you will soon begin to feel much better and the pain and dizziness goes very quickly. . I am going to submit this now just incase I loose the post. Fingers crossed the internet will have sorted itself out by tomorrow.
Night Night all.

Morning Mel morning all
Nice and sunny here
I finally had a decent nights sleep last night. Sandra helped me changed the quilt to a thinner one yesterday and it made such a difference. I'm not so dizzy today, the anti sickness tablets are doing their job which is wonderful and hopefully the antibiotics will start working soon. I've only taken three so far so I wasn't expecting much until I've taken a few more, but at least I'm heading in the right direction now and can feel the benefits. I'm able to walk better without so much help so that's good.
Nothing much planned for today, just going to take it easy and take another look at my family tree to see if I can fill any more gaps.
OH said he's not bothered about his job because of the way he was treated, he said he felt very undervalued and quite frankly I don't blame him. I was always taught to have a safety net in the way of money which I've always done so at least the bills will be paid which OH doesn't need to worry about. I have an income and so does Sandra so between us we should be okay until OH can sort out an income for himself, so we won't go hungry. Thank you everyone for your words of kindness.
I was thinking Frank does Simon have contact with your daughter, if he does and things go okay with you and him, he might mention it to your daughter and she might then make contact too. I hope it happens for you as I know you miss her. Enjoy your ironing today LOL :-D You can do mine if you like ;-) ;-)
Don't get lost in your garden Mel, how big is it. I know it's been mentioned that it's very large.
Going to have some toast and a cuppa now, the sickness tablets don't taste very nice. :-P :-P See you all later <3

Morning my sweeties, evening to my Aussie sweetie,
Up 8.00 am sleept like a log, only 1 trip to the bathroom.
I have trimmed the edges and mowed the from lawn. Now going for a shower, then off to Town with Ros. I have to get an anniversary card, and a lead from my camera to the Mac book so I can load the photo's I have taken.
Glad you had a nice day yesterday Jane and Chris. If you can't splash out on a nice bottle of wine, there must be something wrong.
Hows things at home with you Gill.?? I hope you take advise from the CAB on how to proceed with this business. I am sure ALL our thoughts are with you xxx
As we haven't bought each other a present for Saturday. We are going to the garden centre, to buy two new trees for the pots on the porch. The Olive trees that are there are not looking good so they can either go in the back garden, or the BIN.
Yes Mel 1st of June tomorrow, we are usually getting ready to fly to Spain in the next day or so. We are there for our Anniversary. I am in two minds whether to go to Devon on the 10th June. Ros might like to go on her own and let me have a week or so on my own. I doubt it will happen, but we will see.
Very muggy here today, a bit of sunshine with very little breeze. Do I go out in shorts or Trousers. ??

Gill I am glad you are starting to feel better at last. Perhaps just a few more days and you will be back to your normal self.
Gill as to the size of the garden it is about 5 acres in all with my land and oh's. He has sold off quite a bit of his now.
Di called in this morning unexpectantly which was a nice surprise. She i sstill not well though. She has this cough and her nose runs a lot but its not a cold. She has had this for some time now. She has no energy and has given up a lot of her cleaning jobs just because she can't do it anymore.
I have done some ironing this morning and now I am going in the garden for the afternoon.

Well everything didn't go to plan. We went to the P.O to post a couple of things, then onto Tesco to get Ros's card, also one for my son for 19th July he will be 52. On to Curry's for my cable for the camera, OH NO, you will have to go direct to PENTAX.
Ros had a coupon for 5 p off a litre of petrol at Morrison's, so she went there to fill up. She couldn't find the coupon, but fancied Sausages,Egg, Chips and Baked beans while we were there. Which we did, while seated there she went through her handbag (I couldn't believe what she has in there !!!) She found the coupon, so went back to fill up with petrol. Then home we came.
I feel as weak as a kitten, so came on here to find the lead I want. NO CHANCE there are Dozens of them. So have given up.Ros has the ironing board up and is doing yesterday's load. We won't want a meal tonight so a sandwich will do later.
Gill is there a call for "HANDY MEN" in your area. ?? If so it might be ideal for him to be self employed with no one to answer too. Plus he likes doing gardening doesn't he ??
Still very humid here, with hardly a breath of fresh air. Doors and windows all open and I'm down to my shorts again. Going to have 40 winks and a read. !!!!

Afternoon All,
That's good things are improving Gill. It makes you feel much better when that starts to happen. Your OH could still fight the unfair dismissal if he wanted to. It wouldn't mean he'd have to go back to his job. It sounds like he's had enough though and wouldn't want the hassle. If he does work for himself he'll need to sort a few things out like registering as self employed and get public liability insurance. There's lots of call round here for the work he wants to do. People who are too busy to keep up with their gardens, older folk who can't manage their plots etc.
Mel I didn't realise you had all that land between you. Were you never tempted to have more ponies or horses over the years? :-)
It sounds like you dropped in nicely with the table you got Jane. As you say, the same wine in France would be much cheaper! I remember us bringing bottles of our favourite wine home many years ago, but some didn't seem to travel that well and didn't taste the same. Others were fine though.
You'll have to take the camera to a shop Frank and let them sort out what you need. Have you looked in the camera instructions to see if there's a reference number for the lead you can quote in your online search?
We have been to the fave carvery today. We have decided that a pud as well, which is part of the deal, is a bit much for us now, especially as they don't do the 'small plate' carvery we have got used to elsewhere. OH had to have a lie down when we got back! lol. We are popping down the road to the retail park later as OH has a £5 voucher towards a book he wants from W H Smith and I can have a look around M&S.
Are you going ahead with getting the pool out Mandy? I can imagine Max wanting some of that!! lol. :-)

Afternoon All Internet is still playing up a bit today.I don't know what is going on :-S. Gawd it is muggy now. The fans are back on.
Chris has just got in from the dentist. He had to have some sharp bits shaved and smoothed off on one of teeth. Luckily no local anaesthetic was needed. Next door has a bonfire going and the smoke is so black and stinky :-S :-S. Lord knows what she is burning.Smells a bit plasticky to me .
I haven't seen Thomas since he went off this morning.I have a feeling there must be a load of new baby bunnies. I think he had one yesterday morning as there was the tale tell pink white bib :-S,then he slept all day and went out at 8pm. He didn't come in before I went to bed which always worries me.It is exactly one year ago now that he went missing and damaged his leg.
Gill,I am pleased you are beginning to feel better now.I reckon another couple of days for the antibiotics to kick in and you will be well on the mend then. What a good job that you have some savings and income from you and Sandra. At least it is summer coming up so you won't need to worry about putting heating on . I agree that OH wasn't valued at his work .I think they used him .He was so good and went in at the drop of a hat if needed even when he wasn't feeling the best. I hope they treat the residents better than they did him.
Thats a bit of a pain with the cable for the camera Frank. I'm sure you will find the right one. As for the contents of Ros's handbag. You should see mine LOL.It is amazing what I find lurking sometimes :-D. Mind you things come in handy.Several times I have been able to give someone some paracetamol , plasters ,tissues, even the use of my fan . When we were coming home from France and were in the station waiting for Euro star there was no air con in the waiting area and it was so hot and sticky. I think I shared the fan with 3 people around me.I just find having one of those fold up ones so handy to keep in my bag.
Ann isn't is strange that it seems to be our men who need lie down after going out for a meal at lunchtime.Shame they don't do the smaller plates where you go now though as a little pudding might have been nice too :-D
Mel ,that is a shame your friend Di has had to give up her work . Is it Rhinitis she has? (the running nose) Is she a young lady ?
Ready meals for us tonight. It's too warm to be cooking.I always do extra veg to bulk them out a bit.
Fitz has been back to the Dr this afternoon because of the terrible pains he is getting in his feet .It is making it hard for him to walk. He needs some special kind of shoes so on Friday I am going to Padders Shoes with him as he wants someone to make sure he doesn't get some really ugly ones LOL.
Hannah and Gareth get the keys today for the new place and move in tomorrow. So it will be all go for them. I think they have a new settee arriving too tomorrow afternoon.
