Evening all,
It's been a fairly dry day here just a few spits at lunch time and the the sun was out for the afternoon, it's been very windy and there's lots of black clouds about now though so i expect the rain isn't far off.
I bet Ros will come home with lots of fabric Frank ,we use to have nice warehouse in Norwich i use to go to but since that closed we don't have much in the way of fabric shops about here now . No way could i try Jellied eels yuk !!!! Hope you get a better nights sleep tonight .
Your poor delphiniums Mel the wind can really spoil things when they are tall like that ,once they get bent over they never come back up. Lovely photo's ,i like OH's shed it's a nice colour and the clock looks good on the front . Your Clematis looks a picture on the side ,really pretty and the Hosta's look nice all along the front of the shed , the fish look huge now .
Jane , i wonder where the finger nail has gone ,perhaps Benji found it and had a nibble , is there any sign of a new nail growing where you have lost the old one ? i should imagine the finger is very tender where the nail was .
Ann it's funny you should mention about the dogs liking the horses hoofs as i bought a hoof for Max and he loves it .
Son and DIL came this afternoon with some White and Red Roses and a nice box of Chocolates for our wedding anniversary .

Evening All,
Sunshine, showers and blustery wind in equal measures here today, but it's just heavy rain now. I had a fitful night too, but I think it was because I wanted to be up early for setting off to Grantham. First thing I did this morning was check the skin patch test from the hairdresser before I have colours done tomorrow. I was more worried about getting a reaction to the adhesive like I do with plasters than the other stuff. It was fine though. I keep catching sight of it on the inside of my elbow and it looks just like a big rainbeetle on my arm!! :-0 I found 2 nice pairs of sandals and got a bra changed as I noticed the lace was all snagged when I'd got it home. I rang OH when I set off home and we met at the carvery down the road from us for lunch. Then we went seperate ways so I could pick up my parcel and get me some seeded bread. The parcel had 2 pairs of black sandals and a navy top, so I now have 4 pairs of new sandals!! :-D
Anne, I don't know what Frank does, but on the few occasions when I cook I use a 2 tier steamer for all the different veg. We hardly use potatoes as I rarely eat them and OH will usually have roasts or a jacket potato so the steamer is all veg and uses just one pan for two of you.
Your poor finger has just set my teeth on edge just thinking how strange it must feel Jane. I don't blame you for going private as you want to get it sorted now after all this time. How is your toe doing with the treatment now?
That is a nice gift for your anniversary Mandy, something lovely to look at and something lovely to eat!! Happy Anniversary to you both!! <3 <3
What a shame about your Delphiniums Mel and after them managing to not be eaten this year. They are such a striking flower spike and never seem to straighten up after they are dashed down. I think our freezer could do with one of those clearouts!! I suspect there is still some of the cooked Christmas turkey leftovers in there and gawd knows what else. I tend to bung any leftover cooked veg in there to add to soup or a ready meal and then forget!! I forgot to mention I loved the clock.
Frank the prospect of eating jellied eels would be like handing me one of those widgetty grubs to eat on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!! I would be running for the hills!!! lol. I wouldn't want Mel's OH's whitebait either..........all I would be able to think about would be the fins, entrails and what's in them and the eyes!!!
We should be getting another quote for the pointing up tomorrow morning so another early start.

Jane that was a beautiful photo of Jessie and James they both look so happy. I haven't got use to the different email system and isn't so user friendly as the other one. Did you mention her dress having a Jade colour only in the photo the colour is more of a purply, pink.

Evening all
It's been raining here all day but I did manage to get a few bits and bobs done in the greenhouse then between rain showers I moved a few pots around in the garden. Before I knew it 6 hours had gone by, I came in around 4pm watched a bit of TV then fell asleep on the sofa for an hour before sorting out dinner. So needless to say I didn't get around to colouring my hair........maybe I'll do it tomorrow.
<3 <3 <3 HAPPY ANNIVERSARY MANDY AND COLIN <3 <3 <3
Your poor delphiniums Mel, is there any way you can stake them up or have they bent to much? Love the photo's you sent.
Ros is going to be like a child in a sweet shop with all that fabric to choose from Frank.
It sounds like you're doing well for sandals Ann, let's hope you get the good weather back so you can wear them.
Going private will sort your fingers out sooner rather than later, it has been a long time now, so I don't blame you for wanting it sorting as soon as possible Jane.

Morning Ann and all,
Still very windy here with mostly grey sky but there has been some patches of sun too.
The oil company has just rung to see if we need a top up as there's a lorry in our area next week. We have to have the small tanker to get into the garden so I better go and dip the tank.

Well, this quote was much less so we may go with this one when we've weighed things up. Down the side of the bungalow where we have a narrow space and store pots and the ladder and other stuff, OH used up some old slabs to go the length of it with gravel either side up to the wall so weeds wouldn't grow there. We only use it for storage and have a gate one end and a wooden panel across at the back end. I was out when OH did it and never noticed he had let the gravel come above the damp proof course! The builder pointed it out and luckily not much rain reaches the ground there as the bungalow roof overhangs, but it's another job we need to do, lifting the slabs and shovelling out underneath to lower them!! :-S
I have a hair appointment at 1.45pm so we'll fetch the papers and have an early bite to eat before I go to have that nice relaxing head massage and some lowlights put in!! Luckily there's been no reaction to the adhesive or anything else with the skin patch on my arm. Apparently the hairdresser takes it off with some sellotape.
We are getting less of the builder's vehicles coming down past us now, but more of the fork trucks!! I think it's because they would have to use the fork trucks anyway as the lorries couldn't make the sharp turn down to the last bungalow they are working on. It is quite a way down and will be a bit of a trudge for whoever moves in to bring their bins up each week!
Sounds like a good opportunity to get your oil topped up Mel if you have enough room. Is there a minimum amount they will bring?

Ann yes they will only deliver 500 litres. There is plenty of room as its a big tank its just that I could do without the expense at the mo having just paid all that out on my car and its the begining of the month so council tax has come out too. O well I suppose I shall have to order some and then I know I am alright till the winter as we only use oil for the hot water at present.
iTS STILL BLOWING A GALE AND OH SAID WHEN HE WENT OUT THIS MORNING (sorry) that the drive up to the road is littered with stuff. There's leaves and small branches off the big ash tree at the edge of the orchard. We get dead branches come down too but not the one that has been hanging in another branch for about two years now. Thats the one that needs to come down. We just can't reach it and its locked itself up in another branch.
Good the builder noticed the gravel was above your damp corse as that could cause problems later. More Expense!!!!! What did he quote you for the pointing? The other one quoted £700 did'nt he. I thought that was a bit steep myself.
I have to have the builder come and look at the roof on the end of the bungalow over the kitchen as it seems to have dropped a bit and oh said to get David to come and have a look at it for us. There's always something...........

Good Morning "RAIN DROPS" Evening Kim,
Sorry Mandy I forgot your ANNIVERSARY, yesterday. Hope you had a nice day.
It's rained like billy o here all morning, Carolyn rang and asked Ros what "Colour Wellies was she going to wear" and did she have a spare pair for her. Silly pair of Bu@@ers going out around the town and Garden centres in weather like this.
Glad someone had a bit of sunshine yesterday Mandy. I think I will move to where you are. !!!
Gill, how do you find so much to do in your garden. ?? I thought you had changed it around to make it easier for you to maintain. ;-) ;-) ;-)
A friends cat has been run over down the Close, the BAS@@@D who did it didn't even stop to pick it up or tell anyone. What is it with these people. The couple had had her for SIXTEEN YEARS. I am going to make a sign to go on the entrance of the close "SLOW DOWN" Better still I would like to get my hands on A "POLICE SLOW" sign. I sit here sometimes and think it's a JET going down the road. There are TWO particular people who constantly drive down here well in excess of 40 MPH.
Feeling a bit like the weather again this morning. "WASHED OUT" I don't seem to have a pennyworth of energy , and feel I could sleep for a week.
Glad you heard from Will, I hope Carmel is making improvement.
Jane The mystery of the nail continues then. It will turn up down the seat of a chair/sofa when you least expect it. Hope all goes well with your Private treatment, and the problem gets sorted quickly.
Ann, it's so easy to put things over the damp corse, good job it's been found as water will creep into the pointing and into the room. Another Job for OH. !!!
I am glad you have heard from Will, and trust Carmel is making progress in her recovery.
I think it will be cold Pork, Jacket Potato's, and corn on the cob or Baked beans.
Those Jellied Ells were delicious yesterday. Today I might have a tray of MUSSELS, with vinegar and a bit of pepper. Who would like to join me. That reminds me I have a Box of WHITEBAIT in the freezer, that I must get out to eat.
ee you later folks,
:-P

Afternoon all
What a terrible day, weather wise, here. It's blowing a gale and pouring with rain and a lot colder than it has been.
That was lucky the oil people are in your area next week Mel and like you said you'll be sorted until winter then. Hope it's not to serious with your roof and it's sorted soon.
I've just coloured my hair and now the conditioner is on. I've put a CD on as it takes hours to do my hair and can get a bit boring. I might bake a cake later, haven't done one for ages.
So you've had another quote for the pointing Ann, good idea. I always get a few quotes before deciding which one to have. What a shame about the flags and stones being to high and above the damp proof course. Will it take your OH long to sort it out? Good job the builder told you about it before you had rising damp in your bungalow. It's sound like you're going to have a lovely afternoon of pampering, you lucky thing :-) :-)
I'll share some mussels with you Frank, I love them with plenty of vinegar and pepper, I also like cockles too. I used to get them at Park Gate, not sure if they still do them, I'll have to check next time I'm there as I haven't had any for ages.
I move my pots around Frank that's why there's always something to do. As one lot fade I move some in their place that are about to flower. That's the fun of having a pot garden I can change the borders without much fuss. I moved a conifer tree to replace a small Red Robin I had in the border opposite the kitchen window which now looks so much better. I had lots of bushy plants in that border so the red robin didn't look right with it being so young and not very bushy. The Red Robin has been moved down the bottom of the garden and a Hebe I had down there I put where the conifer was. I love pottering in my garden. I have lots of toms and strawberries plus other bits and bobs in the greenhouse that need attending to and watering each day and now I have the suckers coming from the strawberries I popped them into new pots to make more strawberry plants, once they become established I'll cut them away from the main plants.
OH was saying yesterday that I should open a garden centre, but I wouldn't have a clue where to start. I really love gardening and can do it all day every day and never get bored with the plants. Not to keen on the hard landscaping or painting fences though.
Well, I'd better go and run a bath to rinse the conditioner off my hair, that's the problem with long hair, it's difficult to sort out in a sink and we don't have a shower.
See you all later

Just had to move some more pots as they got blown over, one of them was my apple tree, unfortunately I lost a few of the apples, hopefully now I've moved it, it won't fall over again.
Bath's run so I'm off to rinse my hair. Hope the weather isn't to bad for you all.

Afternoon all,
No sun here today ,it's been chucking it down most of the morning we were lucky we got the shopping done early and just got in as it started coming down.
That was good of that builder to tell you about the gravel being to high over the damp course Ann , obviously the other builder didn't notice it or if he did he didn't say, you don't want problems with damp. You won't be needing your four new pairs of sandles in this weather ,if it keeps on like this you'll need wellies :-0
Hope your roof isn't going to cost you Mel , i wonder whats caused it to drop likd that.
Oh Frank the poor cat getting knocked down, they must have known they had hit something ,they could have knocked at a few doors to try and find out who owned it poor thing. No you can keep your Mussels i don't like them either , now a nice Crab would go down a treat, we had a nice Cromer Crab about a fortnight ago.
Nothing getting done in the garden today ,we have a load of things to go to the tip but they will have to wait. One good thing is we won't have to water tonight .

Oh yes I will Mandy, the greenhouse needs watering. It's so easy to forget when we have had so much rain. It's started to look a bit brighter out there now, but that wind is really blowing.
Gill, Our neighbours Tony and Val have put a RED ROBIN right at the edge of their garden close to our lounge window. It has grown so large that we are constantly having to cut it back, as it's starting to block the light. People don't seem to think that some plats grow quite BIG.
Had David been about your roof Mel, what is the outcome. ??
I will pop and water while it's a bit brighter.I don't want to get wet. !!
