Afternoon All
QUACK QUACK :-D...Just the perfect weather for Ducks today. Mt goodness we have had some downpours this afternoon. Poor Thomas would go out when it stopped but then a couple of minutes later he would be in again . He can really do a sprint lol

Oh Mel I hope your roof isn't going to be a big problem and cost lots of money. You really don't need that now what with the cost of your car and the oil .

I think we are all greatful Mandy that we don't have to water the gardens at the moment. Just the Greenhouse :-D. I can actually see a tiny patch of blue sky now so maybe the worst is over. One of my Olive Trees in the big pots got blown over earlier.

Ann,you should get Gill to help with the slabs LOL. She must be a dab hand at that now after al the slabs she has lifted and shifted.
What luck that the chap told you about the airbricks being covered with the gravel.I will go and check our airbricks tomorrow and make sure they are all clear.

Chris has just tried to take some skin scrapings off my fingers.Yikes it was a bit painful as there wasn't actually much dry skin as I have been moisturising them all day. But hopefully there will be just enough to be tested. It looks like there is nothing in the specimen pot !!.So I can take that in now tomorrow morning when I go for my blood test. it is at 8.50 so I must make sure I give myself plenty of time as it will be the school run and rush hour.My hair is in desperate need of a wash too so it will be a very early start.

Frank I feel so sorry for your neighbours whose cat was run over. I think that so many people never think that cats are not the same as dogs and so never bother to stop or try and find the owner. Also sometimes I do think that they may be unaware that they have hit a cat and maybe think it was a bump in the road. One of my neighbours cats was hit right in front of me some years ago.The driver only stopped because he heard me scream. He said he had no idea that he had hit Zebbedi who had just walked straight out from the end of Fitz's lane onto the main road. A lovely young lady stopped in her car and held the cat in her arms and it died a minute later. So I came home and got a cardboard box to put Zeb in until his owner came home from work :-(
Another cat we had to keep in a box was next doors cat that we found dead outside our front door !!! Enough of sad things.

Is your hair all done now Gill. What a job you have when it comes ot colouring it.Sounds like a marathon LOL.

I expect Ann is looking all glam again with her lowlights and cut. I would love a head massage.A proper Indian one. They are amazing.

How are Max and Ruby with this horrible weather. I bet there has been no Walkies today. :-(

Back from shopping and all unpacked and put away. Easy meals tonight as oh has his curry and bits and I will have a crispy cod portion with salad and a couple of croquets. As I have said before I am not one for chips so have other tato things instead.

I hav'nt been in touch with David the builder yet. I think it is just an age thing with the timbers in the loft as its on the north facing side, front of the bungalow. We get a lot of hornets investigating the crack in the cement there. We have seen a lot of hornets this year around the house and one even came in the bedroom the other day while oh was having a look at the back of his eyelids but the noise woke him and he came out for the fly spray and by the time I got home it was dead on the windowsill. He left me to dispose of it! :-S

POLDARK STARTS ON SUNDAY........Hooray <3 <3 <3

Have any of you been watching Springwatch?

Gillx Report 6 Jun 2017 19:29

My hair is all done now Jane for another six weeks. I'm thinking of going a shade lighter next time so the grey doesn't show so much LOL :-D :-D :-D
Yes, I'm a dab hand at laying flags after laying over 100 last year, mind you I did end up with a bad elbow that's only just started feeling better. I think levelling the ground is the hardest bit and of course making sure it's the right level around the bungalow to avoid any damp getting inside. I've just been sorting the shed out and when I came inside I felt something behind my ear in my hair so tried to pull it out only to find it was a big black spider... yuk. I've put it outside now, but it wasn't pleasant when I realised what it was.
Hope the results of your skin scrapping turn up something that can be sorted quickly, it must be getting you down by now after all this time.

Sorry to hear about your neighbour's cat Frank, some people are really horrible aren't they? Our neighbour's over the back have Red Robins in their garden and they are now well over 15 foot tall, luckily they don't bother us as we have even bigger trees in front of them. The one's I have in pots are almost 10 foot tall but don't block anyone's windows. At least having my plants in pots I can keep them at a manageable size and like I said I can move them around to make the borders more interesting when needed.

Not another terrorist attack Ann, they seem to be happening every week now. I suppose it'll put people off going to places that might come under attack.
It's a nice feeling when you have your hair done isn't it? I feel much better now mine has been done, it has needed to be done for a few weeks now but with being so dizzy I couldn't do it. I took the last antibiotic today and thankfully I'm feeling well again, so don't need anymore.
I never got round to making the cake I wanted to do as my hair took slightly longer than before then I started sorting out the shed. It was a bit to windy to finish the shed as everything would of got blown around the garden if I'd emptied it, so I'll have to finish it off another day.

Going to get a cuppa now, I've been quite thirsty today for some reason.

Still wet and windy ,the weight of the rain on the honeysuckle has pulled it away from the wall and the trellis has come away too ,so thats a job for tomorrow, we had been thinking of taking the honeysuckle down as it is old and woody ,shame though as there is lots of flower on it , but i do have two climbing Roses in pots that didn't have a home so we have something to put in its place .

Lovely photo of the rainbow Jane you don't often see a double one .
No no walkies for Max today ,he's not keen on going out in the rain even if he needs a wee , he goes out like a mad thing shoots round the garden not stopping for a wee and five minutes later hd wants out again !!

Jane Report 6 Jun 2017 21:02

Watching Springwatch now Mel :-D I love it.
Mandy the Rainbow pic didn't show it as well as it really looked .It was quite amazing :-D.It didn't last long either so I was lucky to spot it when I did.
Yikes Gill,I would have freaked out if I found a big black spider in my hair !!. Saying that there are lots of spiders webs agin around the house. Ones with little tiny bodies and long legs. The webs just seem to appear from nowhere.
I bet your hair feels lovely now it is done .I am still wondering when I can get mine coloured .

The programme Broken is just about to start . Thomas is out now so I am just hoping he is back by 10 when I shall be off to bed . The wind is still really strong here but a totally clear sky.
BT Engineer here tomorrow so I might not be around for a while.

Hair is all neat and tidy and a bit darker in streaks now..........but my neck felt that cold wind when I walked outside. lol.

That was lucky you got the rainbow shot Jane, they only last a few moments. The air vents weren't covered, the gravel was just an inch above the damp course in places which is enough for the wall to get damp. It is only the garage wall, but that isn't a cavity wall and has MIL's stuff piled against it so we can't see if the damp has come through till we move it!!!! As for moving slabs I helped first OH build a huge slabbed patio and then slab an equally large area to stand our caravan on and then a path across and all the way down our garden so I know a bit about humping slabs about. I could still do with someone young like Gill though as I am older and stiffer now!! lol. :-) :-)

Mandy my first thought when I saw all the rain this morning was that I wouldn't be wearing any of the sandals!!!

OH is calling me to watch something now......see you all tomorrow!!

Evening All

Like everyone else we have had a very wet and windy day. Paul was going to take me to the garden centre to buy some more bedding plants but I rang him not to come because of the weather so hopefully we can go tomorrow. Ruby isn't at all impressed with the weather as in her short life it hasn't been this bad.

You were lucky to get that photo of the double rainbow Jane they don't appear very often.

Frank I felt so sad when I heard about your neighbour's cat it must have been devastating for them to lose a well loved pet that way.

So Gill and Ann are all glammed up with their hair do's it makes a difference to how you feel when your hair looks good doesn't it?.

Gillx

Gillx Report 6 Jun 2017 22:02

What a lovely picture of the double rainbow Jane, we have rainbows here, sometimes doubles and I've tried taking photo's but they never seem to come out the way you can see them. You did well to capture it, as like the other's have said, they don't stay around very long.

I remember watering the garden when the sun was out and said to Sandra would you like to see a rainbow, she was amazed that I could make a rainbow by placing the water from the hose pipe in the right direction for the sun to catch it. She still talks about it every time she sees a rainbow in the sky.
Is BT coming round because of you losing your internet the other day?

I was going to go to the garden centre on Thursday Anne after voting, but the way the weather is looking it doesn't look like I'll end up going. I don't fancy walking around in the rain and wind. I'm after some flowers as most of mine in the border by the kitchen window have faded now and it's looking a bit dull with just the green leaves showing. So Ruby's not impressed with our British weather then, I'm sure she'll get used to it in time.

It sounds like Max is the same with the horrible weather Mandy with not wanting to go out in it, even for a wee. Hope there aren't any nasty messages left by him in your home.

I would of helped you Ann with your slabs if I lived closer, lets hope the rain isn't getting into the garage then you won't need to sort that bit out.

Yes, I meant to say the other day Mel that Poldark was starting again. I'm looking forward to it. I have a list of all the programmes I want to watch and had Poldark on there for ages waiting for a start date and time, I was beginning to think it wasn't going to be on this year, so I'm pleased it's starts on Sunday.
I've not been watching Springwatch as there are other programmes on at the same time.

Morning all

So much for it being a dry day, it's still raining here, but the wind has died down a bit which is good.

Nothing much planned for today except watering the plants in the greenhouse. All the housework and washing was done yesterday.

What is everyone else up to?

Morning Gill and all,

We have sunshine today and our wind has dropped a lot too.

Oh is out at the dentist so I am home alone for a little while. Nothing planned for today but I am sure I shall find plenty to do even if it is only H W. I may strip the bed if my hands are up to it. Still have these achey fingers and I don't think they are going to go now.

Frank Report 7 Jun 2017 10:43

Morning Gill and all, Evening Kim,

Very windy here from the South/West. So I think Mel might have the rain down her way, if not it's coming. We should stay dry until this evening when we have another Low pressure coming in.

After I get showered and Shaved we are going to B & Q it's 10% off day for OAPs and we need TWO Large pots for the front garden either side of the front door. The pots there have the Olive trees in. I think they are too small for the Olive trees, that's why the O.T. haven't done any good.I will then get Ros to drop me at the hairdressers for my Haircut.

Very good to catch the double rainbow Jane. Not easy to do, as you say they don't last long.

Not sure what we will eat tonight. It will either be a ready meal or a stop off at our little eatery, then get a couple of rolls for later this evening.

Still haven't got any get up and go. I get up and it's GONE.

;-) ;-) ;-)

Lets hope the weather holds today, you tend to get fed up with all this rain. A few weeks ago we were crying out for it !!. The weather man said we have had a months rain in the first few days of June. They had a forecaster who said in January that the first TWO WEEKS of June was the time to take a holiday. A lot he knew. :-0 :-0 :-0

I washed my hair this morning after oh went outside.

Frank

Frank Report 7 Jun 2017 16:07

Bright sunshine here Mel, but still thawing blows !!!

Where do I start with my adventure for today. First after getting showered, shaved and dressed, Ros said she was ready to go. I went to the cloak cupboard to get me leather jacket and it wasn't there. I searched around thinking I had put is somewhere else. NO, them I thought had I left it in the restaurant Sunday Lunchtime. So we called in there on the way to town, and low and behold the chap said you were sitting there, weren't you and pointed to our table. He went off and came back with the jacket. He said we did run after you but you had gone. I thought he couldn't have run very fast as we were both on our Sticks. ;-) ;-) ;-)

Anyway from there she dropped me at the hairdressers while she went into Tesco to get my phone topped up, and post a letter. From there we went to B & Q. not only did she find two pots, she also found these evergreen bushes/trees that have the little tuffs growing up the trunk. Oh, I like those she cried LOL LOL So £148 00 later I was struggling with two bloody great trees and pots on a trolley. The best was to come trying to get two 7 foot trees into the back of the car boot together with all the other trash she carries in there. With the parcel shelf out and the read seats down I managed to lift and steer the potted trees into the car, the tops were almost touching the windscreen. We/she drove home very carefully and again I managed to get them out onto the drive.

The fun and games started from there. I had to get a grow bag from the bottom on the garden. Move the olive trees from where they were, and transfer the new trees into the new pots, and proceed to put half a grow bag into each of the pots. Then get them positioned in the right place for MADAM. We now have to remove the olive trees from the original pots. She will use the pots for something else no doubt. Just as we are doing all this Carol down the close cam by with "TED" the dog. When she saw what we were doing she asked what we were doing with the olive trees. Dos said Frank is putting them on the Blisworth Notice Board to see if anyone would like them for free. With that she said, "I will have them "they can go on the allotment. So that's all sorted. I will ring her when they are ready to go.

Needless to say Frankie boy is tired out, and has come indoors. My clean trousers and shirt are now in the washing bin, as I have dirt all down them.

I told you, you would get the rain Mel. <3 <3 <3 Hope it's brighter down there now, and it stays like it. We will be down on Monday, for a few days.

Going to have a read of the paper now, Ros is getting dinner tonight, so that's me done and dusted for the day. !!! :-P :-P :-P

Anne Report 7 Jun 2017 16:52

Good afternoon All

Nice sunny day here but still quite windy,

Gosh you have been busy Frank with no catastrophes thank goodness, it's a nice feeling when you get a lot done all in one day.

Paul took me to Wyvale garden centre as I had £9.00 in vouchers to come off my shopping, we can also take Ruby there. I bought several trays each of different bedding plants, nothing exotic only more geraniums, petunias, French marigolds and lobelia plus a garden broom. I expect I will need to go back again it all came to exactly £70.00 with the 9.00 off. So I will start planting them tomorrow starting with the pots in the front of the house.

I was chatting to Denise, Doreen's daughter who works at the local boarding kennels and she said they have a Boston Terrier there at the moment named Herbie and apparently just as mad as Ruby and walks backwards on his hind legs just like she does, he's 9 months old

Frank

Frank Report 7 Jun 2017 17:06

Anne, how lovely Herbie sounds, You should film the pair together and send it into one of the T.V. shows. You might get £250.00.

Yes it's nice to get lots done in one day, but now my body is telling me I shouldn't have done so much. Legs, arms and back aching. This is when I had a BATH as well as a shower. But there again I wouldn't be able to get in or out of one LOL LOL

I must go and see where Ros is. She is still planting more plants she bought today. ur garden is just like Wyvale. !!!

Evening all,

It's been a nice sunny day here but the wind has been so strong i had a job to keep the bedding on the line .
We have chopped down all the honeysuckle and taken it all to the tip, it was so woody and Colin had to dig the roots out for me ,i have planted three roses in the place of the honeysuckle and they look nice .

Frank that was good you got your jacket back ,you wouldn't want to loose a nice leather jacket .
I bet you got some funny looks from people as you traveled along with those trees in the car LOL
It's nice to know someone can find a home for the Olive trees .

You had a good spend up at the garden centre Anne now comes the hard work planting them all out .
Sounds as if the walking backwards on the hind legs is a Boston Terrier thing :-D

Jane

Jane Report 7 Jun 2017 18:56

Evening All
Not having a good day with my fingers. They are so painful today . My left hand in particular .Being left handed doesn't help. I don't seem to be able to touch anything much . Am just using one finger on my right hand to type this.
I had my blood test done this morning .Then came back to attempt some ironing. The iron started smoking :-0 :-0.So it was then off to Currys to get a new one but they had so few and I just couldn't drive across town the the larger store because I could barely hold the steering wheel. :-S. My toenails need cutting and I am not asking Chris to do them so have rung the Foot Clinic ,but now waiting for a call back . I can't do them myself as holding the clippers is a nightmare .I sound a proper misery ,so I'm sorry but this not being able to do things is getting me down. Just the simplest of things as pulling on a pair of trousers is difficult !!! I hope tomorrow is a better day :-D. Fitz is supposed to be coming up for lunch .Chris is going to Cambridge tomorrow ( I think to do a little Birthday Pressie shopping :-) )

Thank goodness you got your jacket back Frank. At least no-one walked off with it . That happened with a brand new leather jacket of Hannah's some years ago. It cost a couple of hundred quid and she had it on the back of her seat in a pub.Someone just waltzed off with it.

Dancing dogs :-D. I bet Ruby looks dead cute when she is up on her hind legs Anne.
I always imagine Poodles doing that for some reason. That was nice to be able to take to the garden centre with you.Do you ever leave her on her own?and if you do is she fine?
Jess will have to find a flat that will take Benjy when she starts her PhD in Canterbury.
I asked her about having to leave him on his own when she is in Uni. She said that most days should be ok but on days when she will be out for too long she might use the thing called Borrow my Doggie. Remember Hannah looked after a couple of little dogs for someone every couple of weeks. It is a great scheme.I just hope they do it in Canterbury .

Mel have you sorted what to put under the Swifts nest? Fitz says he has a nest in his shed.Just above the Chest feezer !!!
