Afternoon All
What another sad day for so many families.Such a terrible thing to happen. All those people trapped in that block and no way out.Babies and children being thrown to people from floors up.Thank heavens that man caught the little baby from 9/10 floors up.That was a miracle .The whole thing was almost like watching the Twin Towers all over again .There will no doubt be so many people still in the block who have lost their lives :-( :-( :-(. and to think the residents have voiced compliants about the saftey of the building and just being ignored. I almost dread turning the news on now as there will be more heartwrenching stories from people who managed to get out . What a job the fire service do .Wonderful courageous men and women. Mel I bet you are proud of your OH knowing some of the things he has to face when he was in the LFB.
Frank, a good back massage tomorrow sounds good. I tihk you are always supposed to hurt more after some of these things. But if it helps in the long run then it will be worth it :-D
As for how much I spend on bird food.I have no idea really .Just FAR TOO MUCH.It is ridiculous really when I think about it.
Oh Yuck Ann ,poor OH having to see the worm dangling while the chap did his texting. That is pretty gross. Gives me the willies ;-). He probably just tucked it away and went back to finish his lunch or whatever :-S
Don't fall over in shock but I have had a dress on today !!!!!. It is just a simple cotton/linen shift (I think it's called a shift) with two big pockets on the front. I got it in Next a few weeks ago thinking I would just wear it around the house /garden.But Chris said it looked fine so I thought I would be daring lol. My lilly white legs look a bit odd though LOL.It wasn't expensive so I may even get another in a different colour. This one is navy.
The film My Cousin Rachel was a bit of a strange one. I wouldn't rush out to see it again.Strange ending and lots of puzzles for us to try and work out. Lunch was lovely and they had air con on :-D :-D.. The cinema was too warm but my Elderflower G&T with lots of ice kept me cool :-D
Must look art my emails.I see one from Liz there.

Evening all,
Yes it's been sad day for so many families , and those fireman should get medals for their bravery today .
Colin had his phone call from the doctor about his MRI scan ,the doctor said he has general wear and tear on his back but ......some thing has shown up on his kidney so Colin had to go and give a wee specimen this afternoon as the doctor wanted to test it ,the doctor said there was no blood in it which it might have if it was cancer ,now Colin has to have another scan on the kidney to see what this is that's showing up ,it's one thing after another to worry about .
Oh my goodness Ann how disgusting i hope that chap in the loo wasn't some one who was working in the restaurant :-S
Phew it's been a warm one today ,Max has been in the shade and i have been topping up his bowl with nice cold water all day.
Poor little Ruby i hope she hasn't done to much damage to her leg , they carn't tell you if it hurts can they .
Get the after sun cream on those red legs Frank or you'll be sore tomorrow ,how nice to get a free massage .

Yes we we doubting the man would wash his hands too.......wouldn't want to borrow his mobile!! :-S
Jane I was looking at some linen dresses with two low pockets that sound like yours that were at the Grantham retail park. Some had what I would call rustic patterns and others were plain and they looked slightly creased and a bit hippyish and I thought they would be good to wear around the house and garden. I dithered about as usual and didn't get one, but it sounds as if they look better on as some things do. Don't mention lily white legs!! The legs on the chickens in the cool fridges at Sainsbury's have more colour than mine!! lol. :-) It seems to have been ages since we had some good films so it's a pity that the one you saw wasn't that special.
You seem to be enjoying this good weather Frank and you and Ros are going to win the ivy battle I think! It's a shame there is no garden waste collection there. I wonder what people do who don't have a car, unless they burn the rubbish. How nice to have the offer of a back massage next........is she working her way down your body!! lol.
Well I got my letter weighed and sent and got some coconut milk while I was there. (the Post Office is in the Co-op). I am attempting, of all things, a very mild chicken curry tomorrow!!! I watched a prog the other night where, basically everything just gets put in a saucepan and is simmered for ages. It was to have with cauliflower rice to be healthy but which was out of stock at the supermarket so we'll will have it with rice . How were your loins Jane (the cod ones that is!)?

Mandy , I hope whatever has shown up on OH's kidney is nothing too much to worry about. Fitz's kidney tumour was picked up by another scan .6 yrs now after having his kidney out he is all clear. But hopefuly it is nothing like that for OH.
I have my appointment through now for the Dermatologist .July 10th. It is a long time for a private appointment so I am thinking the Consultant is on holiday or is going off on holiday.
Ann I have sent you a pic of me in my dress. Hands in pockets to show where they are.It is the most comfortable dress.
I have no idea where Thomas is . He should be in by now. I haven't seen him since last night.James let him out first thing this morning .Chris and I have been whistling and calling for ages now :-S No sign.

Oh Mandy I missed your post. As if Colin hasn't had enough after his operation without this new concern. It's good to know what it is with his back but for them then to find something else! It sounds good that there wasn't blood in his sample though and at least it has been picked up sooner than if he hadn't had the scan. I hope he gets the next scan come through quickly as it's awful waiting for tests and then results. It sounds like Max has had the right idea today. :-)
Jane that does sound quite a wait to see the dermatologist, but at least you have an appointment now and maybe you are right about the delay.
Mel I can see your OH's point about these tall buildings. It hadn't occurred to me about the hoses. You think they'd have automatic sprinklers come on like factories, better to have your stuff ruined and the fire put out. I hated working on the 5th floor of one office and remember the Swans flying past our windows level with us. Also doing a visit once to a block of flats in the city that had 24 storeys. I think I had to go halfway up but looking out of a window on the landing sent me funny as the people on the pavement looked so tiny. I would hate to live in a high rise flat......give me a mobile home instead!
Did I read that a faulty fridge caused the fire? You'd think there would be annual mandatory checks of all appliances that could cause a fire in these buildings to reduce the risk. Those poor souls at the top were in the worst position. It must be terrifying.

Morning all,
Nice day again but it has rained this morning and I have the doc's today and the library and not sure if I am going to make both. The library calls in Shebbear after us and its there in the afternoon for the school so if I miss it at Buckland I can go to the next village.

Good Morning everyone
Really hot here this morning would have been just right to take Ruby for her walk much earlier but she is still walking with her right foot up but doesn't seem to be in any discomfort and still being very speedy when trying to avoid being picked up. little madam. Had the Sainsbury delivery at 8o/c so we can now eat for another week.
Mandy I hope Colin's shadow on his kidney isn't anything serious it must be worrying for you both.
Mel I hope you can get some relief from all that itching when you go for your appointment, it being so warm must make it worse.
Has Thomas turned up yet Jane? Shadow did the same thing yesterday was missing from yesterday morning and I only saw her about an hour ago, she often does this when the nights are warm. It's a shame you have to wait so long to see the dermatologist.
Frank we go to Hastings at least once a year but always in October when it's Mark's birthday, We always make sure we have a fish & chips meal and usually go to The Blue Dolphin which has been there years must try Maggies next time. When we were first married we lived in Milward Crescent which is at the foot of the west hill not too far from the old town. Have you been up in the lift to the East Hill the views from there are really good,
Colin my brother is shortly doing a lecture tour in Suffolk," Constable and Gainsborough country" makes a change from going abroad, next trip at the end of this month its Van Gogh and Mondrian in the Netherlands .

I must say Liz's gardenis looking a treat even though they have been one woman down for a while.
Mandy it must be a worry for Colin with another appointment. Is he getting along ok with the hip?
Frank must have slept in this morning as we hav'nt heard from him yet or maybe they have gone to Dartmoor. I love Dartmoor and the little village just outside it, Chagford. I nearly lived there once with mum and dad in a three storey house just off the square. we used to stay in Holystreet Manor which had appartments to let. One in a wing of the Manor House and one in the courtyard opposit. There was a games room with a flat over and a stable cottage over the stables.

Morning sweet things, Evening Kim,
Another nice day with a little more cloud and a nice breeze. I might go for a stroll down the front while the girls go to M & S and other things to do. I hope it's not more PLANTS.
Mandy lets hope everything is fine with Colin. It's better to get checked out, and know if there is anything, it can be treated quickly . Keep thinking positive.
Jane are you ashamed to show us all your dress, ?? I'm sure you will look lovely, as your personality will be shining through anyway. That is suppose to be a compliment
<3 <3 <3 even if it doesn't rad like it. xxx
Haven't watched any news today, I don't think I want to know of the bad things that are going on, I just heard that 17 are confirmed dead. Jan had a text.
Ella stayed over last night but never saw much of her. She had her shower, and put her onese and sat will us then went off to bed, Jo picked her up at 7.30 this morning. Needless to say I didn't see them. I woke at 8.30 after a funny sort of night. with tech ache and stinging from my sunshine. I was in bed by 10.00 and still awake when Ros came in at 1.00 am
Yesterday I saw a MUM seagull bring out her THEE CHICKS. She bought them down the side of a roof, left them there in the sunshine and came back later and coached them back up the roof. They must be ready any time soon, to leave the nest. Also on Wednesday I saw a Seagull patrolling a section of the beech from the air. It would fly to the cafe on the front to the harbour and swoop round and go back. He must have done it at least 20 times while I sat watching. If anything was dropped by a walker he would swoop down and collect it.
When, and I mean WHEN the girls get back we are going along to a beach Cafe for a bit of lunch.
I'm really enjoying my freedom, of being able to go out without asking Ros to take me, and I have the most pleasant view you could ask for.
Enjoy whatever you are doing today, see you later xxx

Afternoon All
Mel I would be looking for a second opinion If I were you now.Something is causing your itchiness .
Is Ruby still holding her whole foot off the ground Anne? Not putting any weight on it? If she is I would be getting a bit concerened now. Or is she trying it out but not just doing the whole weight .
Well Frank you seem to be enjoying your "FREE TIME" :-D :-D and being able to go off for a stroll along the front without having to have a lift. I will send the pic of me in my dress if you really want :-)
Just taken some pics of the garden .
So your Brother is doing a UK stint soon Anne.He must have a lot of stamina with all the travelling he has to do .He must really love his job.His knowledge too must be immense of the Great Masters of Art. Fitz went to Bonhams in London yesterday to hopefully sell a painting. But it didn't reach it's estimate. So he was very disappointed .It wasn't too far off but just not quite enough.
Sheesh it has been a hot day!! Even with the breeze. Fans on all over the place here.
I will see wat my garden pics are like and send a few .

Well I am back at last. The girls went off this morning to do what girls do (SHOPPING) !! when they got back we went for lunch along the seafront at Torquay. The girls had salad with chicken and advecardo (sp) while I went for the TAPAS. Very nice with a couple of pints. They needed to go somewhere else, so I sat reading the paper until 3,45 They were picking me up at 4.00 pm, they turned up at 4.30. They dropped me off at the pier and I walked home.
I think it's an Indian tonight. But I hope it's later as I feel stuffed.
No Mel no Dartmoor today. as you can see from above. Who knows tomorrow is another day.
Anne, I really enjoy my time at Hastings. It has been known that I have walked from John's place to the Town and they get on the bus. We meet in the pedestrian area, off the main road. "MAGGIES" always makes you welcome with SMALL, MEDIUM or Large F & C. I haven't seen anyone finish the LARGE. LOL LOL. It's more like a boat full of fish rather than a plate. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Going to put my feet up and either read or watch T,V. Take care, see you later. Hope everyone is well. xx

Evening all,
What a scorcher ,i have cleaned my oven today and had a good going through the lounge and kitchen ,got my washing ( bedding ) all dry so tomorrow i'll do the ironing in front of the fan .
The doctor rang this morning and said he had arranged for the scan appointment to be sorted in the next few days ,he also wanted Colin to have a Kidney function test which he has to go to hospital on Monday for that .
Frank it sounds as if you are enjoying your time by the sea ,you've picked a good week to be there with all this lovely weather and before it gets busy with holiday makers .
Jane the garden is looking good ,nice and green you must have been watering it well . Has Thomas turned up ? i bet he's been laying under a hedge in the shade with a full belly .
Oh Mel surly the doctor could give you some thing to relieve that rash and all the itching , is there another doctor you could see ?
Poor little Ruby with her sore foot ,you would have thought she would be putting it to the floor by now . Will you give her another day or too and then take her back to the vet if it's no better Anne ?

Evening all
A bit cloudy here today after a sunny start and the wind is picking up now.
I've only just got my computer back off Sandra, she tried recording to many programmes on her planner so some of them didn't record as they clashed so she's been using my laptop for catch up TV.
Yes, Ann I do look on Pinterest, it's a good website isn't it?
All those poor people who perished in the London Tower Block Fire. Everyone else in neighbouring tower blocks are going to be worried now and I don't blame them. Yes I heard about the baby Frank who was dropped from the 10th floor, I hope the parents survived, although it doesn't look good if they had to drop their baby out of the window. It's so heart breaking.
Sorry to hear you're still itching Mel, I think you should go for a second opinion.
Love the pictures of your garden Jane, it looks quite a bit garden and what lovely blue sky. So you've got yourself a dress, that'll keep you cool. Good idea to buy another one in a different colour. I'd love to see a pic of it too.
Sorry to hear about Colin Mandy, hope it's nothing serious, at least the appointment has come through quickly. I'll keep my fingers crossed for good news.
Poor Ruby Anne, maybe you should take her to the vet for the X-ray if it's still sore for her to walk on properly.
I've been busy in the kitchen this afternoon, making a trifle, a cheesecake and a Sheppard's pie. So everyone's happy now with a few sweet treats to eat. :-) I also managed to re-pot a few more plants this morning before it turned a bit cold and rearranged some pots in my border as some have gone over now and the ones I've popped in are just about to flower. Mum's asked me to design and do her back garden, so that'll keep me busy for a while.

Evening All,
That's good things are being dealt with quickly for Colin Mandy. Hopefully all will be well and it's just precautionary and sensible to check things quickly. My word it's hot weather for putting your head in the oven! lol. I tried washing the kitchen and uti floor this morning with my new mop but didn't find it very good. The stale twists undone as you push it, even if you screw it tight and it seems to push the dirt in front of it and there's always some even when you've hoovered first. It's hard to push down to squeeze the water from the sponge and I still had to bend over with my feet apart to reach the edges with a cloth. That hurt my knees so I was fed up by then and thought there must be a better way!! lol.
OH has set his back off again by diving in the holly tree to cut out a big green stem that had shot up in the middle. I don't think it helps his back sitting on children's chairs at his meetings. He'll have to rest up a bit tomorrow as he needs to clear more of the soil ready for the man and his mortar grinder!
I was also wondering whether Thomas got home ok? Your garden does look lovely and green Jane and in good order too.
Mel, I think I would ask for another opinion too. There must be something still causing all this itching.
Anne your brother certainly gets around. It must be great though to be able to talk about something you are interested in and know a lot about. Miss Dynamite isn't just now is she. I hope her leg soon improves so you don't have to go back to the vet.
Frank you sound as if you are really enjoying yourself now and it must be nice to not have to rely on others to take you around. I hope the red legs are less red today! ;-) ;-)

Morning my lovelies, evening Kim,
Still very sunny, but with a bit more breeze.
Jan has so much to do today (she says) She has been planting the borders Ros cleared of weeds and ivy. since 6.00 am. Still a lot to get in. I know this afternoon she has her nail appointment at 3.00 pm, so no gardening after that. There is a pile of washing sitting to go in the machine.
We haven't had anything to eat since yesterday lunchtime. We were all to full up last night. I will get a piece of toast and marmalade in a mo. and more Tea.
Ros has just come out of the bedroom all dressed for the garden. So I can see I will go out on my own later. I will wear my hat if I go walking as the top of my head is sore :-( :-( :-(
The garden is looking good Jane. All the effort you and Chris puts in shows, and you must both be very proud of your achievements. I hope Carolyn is keeping ours watered.
Oh Mandy what a day to pick to do your cooker ?? I bet you lost a few pounds doing it. Hows Max enjoying the weather. My old Labs, would lay on the tiles in the kitchen and keep cool. We also had a river close by, so I would take them there for a swim and refresh. If it was really hot they would be almost dry by the time we got home. Hope the results for Colin are all good <3 <3
Mel, Will you remind your OH the the FISHING SEASON OPENS TODAY. How I loved to go at midnight and fish through to the morning on the first day. Now that is all in the past, and I still miss it. !!!
Ann, You should throw that mop out and buy another. It can't be any good for you, if it doesn't do the JOB. and having to go round by hand to finish it off is a NO NO. !!!
Toast is ready so I'll be off, then for a walk down the front. Take care, see you later.
