Mel those fires are just terrible and so frightening. I did hear that children have died :-( :-(.
It looks like tomorrow will be up to 34 degs in some places :-0 :-0. Then possible thunderstorms. I managed to get a bit of a breeze going through the house today by opening the big windows at the front of the house .I propped all the doors open but it is still too hot.I see the Met office has put out a heat warning now.

We can strip off but I just feel so sorry for all the pets and Cows,Horses ,Sheep etc. There is never enough shade for them in the fields here.
Are you still being troubled with the flies from the Cows Ann ?

Frank Report 20 Jun 2017 18:59

Everywhere has had a god watering, washing done and dried.

Dos went out about 6.20 pm dressed in a thin silky long skirt, and silky top. She looked so COOL. I'm just out of the shower, wetter now than in there. Will towel myself off again before putting on slacks and light shirt to go to the pub. That first pint won't touch the sides. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I don't think I told you this morning, I had cards on the mat from Harvey, Lewis and SIMON. I have sent a short note to Simon in the post asking for his numbers and thanking them for the card. I have also sent Flowers to SALLY thanking her for bringing us together again, and looking forward to seeing them soon.

Also ,did I tell you that Conrad phoned Jan to say he was just getting in his car in SPAIN as we were about 6 miles from home.

I will get back to normal I hope tomorrow. Being up so long today I should sleep well tonight.

God bless you all, see you tomorrow.

When I got in my car to go out this afternoon it was eading 33 degs but it was parked up on the grass by the south facing wall so that must have been how hot it was up there.

Annx Report 20 Jun 2017 20:43

You've been hotter than us today Mel. I've recorded the Hedgehogs. :-) That was interesting about your itching. It looks as if it eventually goes on it's own.

Jane I have put filled hot water bottles in the fridge all day before but hadn't thought to put them in the freezer!!! Let me know if they are ok. I did once think I might try freezing plastic pop bottles filled with water like they do for rabbits in pet shops! lol. Good idea to get another dress. Now you have a LBD for special occasions!!

Frank I don't know where you and Ros find your energy from! You are like spring chickens the way you gad about!! lol.

We have been driven mad today!! The dog nextdoor was outside barking before 8.00am. The neighbour has been out most of the day and had left him in the garden. He's barked and howled virtually all day with just the odd ten minute break and OH has been trying to type up notes most of the day and we need the windows open with it being hot. He went quiet at about 5.00pm so I assume she'd come home then. She went out again within an hour and has left him outside barking again. He was going berserk when OH was watering the flowerbed at the side of the drive. I'm going to have to say something to her before the man comes to do the pointing at the end of the month. It will drive him mad when he's only a couple of feet away with the dog the other side of the fence and his grinder will set the dog off worse than ever. :-S I'm not looking forward to it though as she's a sulky sort of woman. I remember she was really funny when they built a wide wall to replace their wooden fence between us and rather than cut their slabs down to fit they built the wall to the edge of their slabs so it went over our boundary our side and narrowed the space where we keep our bins. :-S They did move it back, but not to the boundary and only when OH said our solicitors would have to sort it out if they didn't.

Jane Report 20 Jun 2017 20:56

Oh Ann I thought the hot water bottles went it in the freezer !!!!. I took one out just now and had a squeeze. It felt like crushed ice :-D That one is in the bed now.I hope it doesn't leak :-S The other one I thought James might like but he says he thinks he will be fine . I might take it out of the freezer and leave it in the fridge. It might come in very useful tomorrow if as they say it is going to be even hotter. :-S :-S

Ann I can't believe your neighbour left the dog out all day in this heat !! :-0 :-0 Does it have any shade ? Hopefully plenty of water. If I were you I would have to say something along the lines that you were concerned about it and that it sounded 'in distress'.

Just getting ready to settle down now to watch the next episode of Broken . It's brilliant.

Annx

Annx Report 20 Jun 2017 21:11

I was going to add about it sounding distressed and howling as you say Jane when I tell her the man will be coming. Not sure it will make any difference though but we can only try. It has shade all down the side of the bungalow. It's well fed etc so I expect she leaves it water.

Jane

Jane Report 20 Jun 2017 21:23

Just mention RSPCA Ann. Tomorrow even hotter !!!!!. That little dog should not be left out .You might have to go get him if you are really worried. I take it it is not a nasty dog? If she takes offence at a threat of the RSPCA being mentioned so be it . It just might make her 'THINK'

Evening all,

Much cooler here today just a nice temperature, it was so hot yesterday Colin and i went in the pool ,it was heavenly bliss i can tell you, the water was so hot on the top but we stired it up and it was just right ,we spent about an hour in there .
The littleones should be coming tomorrow after school for a dip .

Lovely jewellery again Ann ,as always i love them all.
That poor dog being left out all day poor thing ,even in the shade it's still hot for it to be out .
Perhaps you could tell a little porkie like some one knocked at your door asking if you thought the dog was ok as he was making such a fuss for all that timd .

Talking of dogs my sister rang this evening and she was saying she had to take Molly to the vets as she had managed to get a box of Liquorice all sorts off the side and scoffed the lot :-D
Liquorice is not poisonous to dogs ,she gave her an injection to stop her being sick but of course it had to come out the other end !!!!

Glad to see you home safe and sound Frank, you'll sleep well in your own bed tonight ,there's nothing like your own bed.

Jane Report 20 Jun 2017 22:20

Don't put the Hot water bottle in the freezer Ann. As it thaws it makes the sheet wet :-S :-S Fridge it is from now on LOL

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Jun 2017 23:40

Who wet the bed then?

I have had the extracter fan going for a while this evening in the kitchen and two fans and its still hot in here.

Perhaps your neighbour thought the house would get too hot for the dog and it would be better off outside. It is so annoying when dogs bark all the time. The ones over the big house kick off sometimes and I think she has nine so you can imagine how it sounds. You just want to yell out QUIET.

Going in the shower now to cool off before bed.

Night night.

Morning all,

Another hottie here today and I am itching like mad.

Oh has just informed me his sister hubby and daughter are coming down on Friday for the weekend.

You know what I shall be doing for the next two days.

Annx

Annx Report 21 Jun 2017 10:37

Morning All,

Bright and sunny here again and I think even higher temperatures are forecast today.

It is quite cool down the side of our bungalows as we have often said we should stick our garden chairs on the path there as there is usually a very slight breeze. It is a good point about water though as he might drink what she leaves him quite quickly. His bark is really shrill and high as it's a little Shih Tzu. At least he is clipped regularly so doesn't have a very long coat to make him hotter. With living in a small close of only 14 bungalows I think she would be asking who it was if I said someone had knocked on our door Mandy. Hopefully she'll take him with her today or be at home.

Thanks for letting me know Jane! I seem to recall now that it was the condensation on the frozen bottles for the rabbits that made me think it might be a problem!! I didn't sleep so well last night and ended up getting up for a glass of milk at 2.30am but that seemed to help. There had been an enormous yowling of the cats earlier. They do sound murderous don't they. When I told OH he said 'There'll be a woman involved!' :-) lol.

Oh Mel the itching won't be helped by getting hot doing HW will it.

Frank

Frank Report 21 Jun 2017 11:11

Good Morning sweeties, Evening Kim,

Yes, another HOT one here.I have been up since 7.00 am Doors to the garden all open and windows, fan on in the lounge.

Val next door upset Ros last night, she went on the Treasure Hunt and was in Ros's car. She said to Ros, "You didn't have very good weather, you are hardly tanned" She is as brown as a berry, saucy MOO. !!! I saw Tony down the pub last night he said He has had a real blitz at his back garden. I can only see he has clipped a bush by the fence. He says it's too much for him and he is looking to get a gardener. I'll believe that, when I see it.

The pub wasn't able to cook last night, the chef had been called away on family business. So when I came home I had a Cheese and Pickle sandwich, and was in bed by 10.00 pm. I've had a egg and bacon sarnie for breakfast.

I would think of reporting that neighbour to the RSPCA. I don't think any dog should have to stay outside for that long, also the annoyance factor to the neighbours with all that barking.

Neck and shoulder feeling a little easier this morning, but so it should I haven't done anything yet.

Would it not be a good idea to put your TOP SHEET in a plastic bag in the fridge, and just put it over you when you go yo bed. I for one sleep on top until it cools down, then I pull the sheet over me.

Nothing planned here today, I will sort out dinner later on, then get my book and rad. This is when I miss my "CHERRY TREE"

Don't get burnt, and enjoy whatever you are doing.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 21 Jun 2017 14:56

I meant to say to you girls that I put a white terry t towel over my steering wheel when its hot like this as it helps when you get back to the car.

Frank

Frank Report 21 Jun 2017 16:24

HOT HOT HOT. Fan going full blast, I have even opened the front door to try to get a breeze though the bungalow. Not much success !!!

Dos BLESS HER, she has stood and done all the ironing. When I got the washing in last night it felt a little damp, so I put it out again this morning, by mid-day it was dry. Would you believe I had TEN pairs of u/pants, five T shirts but no long sleeve shirts.

Oh Mel, Lets hope the Dr is right, and the new cream will help to clear this itching up, once and for all.

Ros has a steering wheel cover fitted to hers, so she doesn't have any trouble with the heat.

Roast belly of pork tonight, New potato's cabbage, peas and carrots. With this heat we will eat late. That's if I feel like eating.

We have the workmen in the close relaying the paths. I went out this morning and offered to replace their water with COLD WATER. at any time they wanted it. Funny enough not one of them knocked.

I will start watering as it cools down, and the sun goes down this evening. It will be nice to be out in the cooler air.

Afternoon All
Chris and I have done absolutely nothing today other than sit by the fans and flop.
We watched the 2 episodes of The Loch. Ooh it is good.
It is stifling now. We are swapping beds tonight and he is going in Hannahs bed.I find her bed too hot .I think it is the topper thing that holds my body heat. Saying that I was actually quite comfortable there last night.Thomas joined me for a while but then had me up at 4.40 again. He was full of flipping beans and went for my leg when I moved it.Maybe he thought here was a rabbit under the sheet. I have a nice long scratch now :-S

Mel have you got the Canesten Cream? There is something about that word Fungal isn't there?. Lets hope this works now for you. It will maybe take a couple of weeks .

Maybe Val is a bit colour blind like you Frank and thought Ros's lovely tan was white instead of brown LOL.

I wonder if we will get any of the Thunderstorms here.It does look like it may be possible. Hopefully Thomas will come in before anything happens.

We tried opening everything at the front to see if we could get some kind of breeze to blow through the house. But like you Frank Nothing :-S
The 2 Hot water bottles are in the FRIDGE :-D I just had a feel and oh boy do they feel good :-D. I think every fan is on full blast here but not really making much impact.

James is on his way home now.He is having Curry tonight !!. Not for us. I am having some kind of Risotto and Chris a Cottage Pie and Veg. (all ready meals)

I hope you have a peaceful day today Ann with no barking dog.

How are Ruby and Max? No doubt justwanting the coolest place to lie down. I would quite fancy lying on the cool tiles in the kitchen .(But I would never get up again :-D)

Next door has just has a really stinky bonfire :-S :-S Are they crazy!!!! Yep I think so.

Annx

Annx Report 21 Jun 2017 17:45

That's a good idea to use a towel Mel. My steering wheel is padded so doesn't get as bad as OH's but I have a metal gear knob like I had on my previous car and they get boiling hot. Methinks I shall drape the duster I keep in the car over it and see if that helps! :-)

Oh Frank, I don't think Tony knows what hard work is if he only clipped a bush. Fancy Val saying that to Ros, goodness knows what she'd say to me as I never really get much of a tan. I've only really sat out in the evening to cool down ready for going to bed these last few days as I can't stand the heat in the day.

The garden centre with the top I got bought another garden centre last year near where we went today, so we called in to see if they had any like the one I wanted ........and they did!! :-) I liked the pink one and the blue one and to save making my mind up I got both!! We were going to go to the retail park after as I notice Superdrug are stocking the Mane 'n Tail shampoo I had that has now run out and OH had a voucher to use at W H Smith. The heat at the Garden Centre was stifling though so we came home and flopped instead.

Fancy Molly liking the liquorice allsorts Mandy, now they know they'll have to keep them out of her way in future. I can imagine some not very pleasant cleaning up to do afterwards. Has she met Max yet?

Mel, did you see a different doctor? if it is a fungus the cream should soon help. I think you have to make sure no-one else uses the same towels if it is. Mum had it on her fingers once and then I got it in a toenail. Hers cleared up fast and mine took a few years to clear as it was in the nail bed.

OH has just gone off to a meeting and I am sitting with the tower fan next to me. He was up with the lark this morning and cleared a few barrow loads of soil to lower the path level down the side ready for the man coming next week. He's doing it in small stints every other day and only half filling the bags so they aren't too heavy, mindful of setting off his sciatica and that his bones aren't full strength.

I'll get me another glass of water now and then start looking at house insurance quotes.
