Morning to you all, Evening Kim.
Was awake at 5.00 am. couldn't get back to sleep so got up about 6.30., had my tea and got showered and dressed. Trousers and shirt, as I had to see the nurse this morning. Not only did she do my injection, but took my bloods as well. That will save me another trip.
Ros has been having a blitz in the kitchen, sorted all the orchid's out on the window sills, some need replacing, so MORE EXPENSE !!! Now she's talking of getting the carpet cleaner out and doing the Lounge carpet, while this weather continues.
I saw a old skittle mate of mine on the way back from the nurse, he has had THREE strokes, and looks a frail old chap, so I must think myself lucky.
The lawn treatment hasn't been done yet, so I hope they haven'y forgot me !!!.
I think I will treat Ros to a meal out later today. She can choose where she wants to go. I have thrown a bag of Potato's out as they have traveled to Devon and back, some were getting a bit wet around the skins, so weren't going to last the weekend. Will get fresh tomorrow when she goes shopping.
Anymore Pheasants footprints Mel, little blighters !!!
Jane if you are anything like Ros, you must have loads of dress's to choose from without having to buy new. YOU WOMEN ;-) ;-) ;-) What was the Council meeting about ?? Was it the development across the road, or next door.
Yes Gill, the weather has certainly turned cooler, we have a very stiff wind blowing here now, and it's so much nicer to be out in it. I enjoyed my walk to the Drs and back this morning.
What you beed up to Anne and Annx. Is Ruby happier with this weather and has that Bl===y dog ceased his barking. ??
No breakfast this morning so I will get myself a piece of toast and a coffee.
Behave yourselves whatever you are doing today, I have my eyes on you. !!!!

The wind has blown the sky dish so OH is busy sorting that out as we don't have a signal at the moment, it was playing up last night so all we got was part recordings. It was to dark for OH to do anything about it then and now with having no signal at all he's having to realign it. That didn't take long about two minutes and it's all done now :-) Hope the wind doesn't move it again.
Sorry to hear you didn't have a good night Frank at least you had your bloods done when you went for your injections so like you said, that'll save you another journey to the nurse.
Hope the weather isn't to bad for you Mel then you can all go out somewhere nice, enjoy the company <3
Going to watch a programme off the planner now and see if I can fill in some more gaps on my family tree.
I've managed to fill in a few gaps on my family tree, I'm finally on a roll, so hopefully I'll fill in lots more today......hope I haven't jinxed myself now, after saying that.

Afternoon All,
We were talking about tattoos at beading class this morning and I was saying how on the military records of my ancestors from WW2, it describes their tattoos in great detail. Most were writhing snakes or anchors on their arms, that kind of thing and I remember seeing tattoos like that occasionally as a young girl. I think you will be able to tell the ages of people in years to come by their tattoos, all those small roses and rings of barbed wire will be easy to date. To be timeless you would need something unique. We had a titter then at the prospect of tattooed faces developing wrinkles along with the owner of them as time moves on, dog tattoos turning into Sharpei dogs with all the wrinkles, mouths on tattooed faces dropping open in a yawn as the skin sags!!! :-) :-S It's not something I've ever fancied!
Did they turn up earlier than usual to catch you in bed Mel? I like to know roughly when visitors are expected so I can be ready and out of my 'house tramp' outfit!! lol. I hope you have sorted where to go out to today. It's been fine here all day so I hope it's been the same for you.
I hope the lawn people haven't forgotten you Frank or you won't know when to mow your lawns! Good you got your bloods done today as well......killed 2 birds with one stone as they say. It does make you thankful when you see someone worse off than yourself doesn't it. I always think that no matter how well someone looks you never know what worries or illness they might be dealing with and that if on an occasions they seem a bit off with you to make allowances. :-)
We've had no rain here yet Gill, but it's been dull all day. I have a tall pot to fill, but OH needs to find the polystyrene bits we save from packaging to part fill it first. Then I want to pot up an Acer that isn't doing well as it's being smothered by a Camelia and drop that inside the big pot. I have a bit of a soft spot for the Acer as it came from a garden centre that closed a few years ago. It is a red filigree lace Acer, supposedly not that common, and the chap who owned the garden centre took me all around his own garden as his bungalow was next door to the garden centre and showed me a larger specimen of it and it was very pretty. I want to plant a few yellow and green striped grasses under it in the pot to brighten it up a bit as the pot is brown. Hope your Sky dish stays put!!

No rain here so far other than just a few spots. It is really breezy and close.
Frank thst was lucky for you that the Nurse did your bloods at the same time as the jab. I don't have lots of dresses to choose from Frank . I only have one really nice dress which I have never worn. It is a possible though for the wedding ,but I will still look for something else as I fancy something a bit more floaty.
I couldn't wake this morning even though I had a good night. So I stayed in bed until about 9.30 just dozing. Then I had a bath. When I looked in the mirror I thought I had a black eye!!!!!. A closer look showed a bruise just under my left eye. I reckon I must have poked my eye in the night LOL. I said to Chris people might think he had been having a go at me LOLOL.
Mel what time did they arrive ? it must have been fairly early if you were still in bed.I hope the weather stays fine for you all for the weekend .
Gill I don't blame you not wanting to go out looking for plants in the rain. At least you have had a chance to catch up on some of your programmes. :-D
James is going to Jess tonight and then tomorrow they will be meeting up with Hannah ,Gareth and Matthew and Kelsey for the evening. I think it is really nice that Hannah and Matthew (being cousins) are really close now that they both are in London.
Oh my goodness .Next door are burning stuff AGAIN and the smoke was so thick and black and very stinky. Bit of black bits flying across our garden. I am sure they must burn their household rubbish in plastic bags. I tried to get a pic of the smoke on my phone .Must have a look and see if it came out. I am glad I had no washing out.
Tattoos . I have never wanted one ,James and Hannah have never had them. But all 3 of my Sisters children have them and they are really big ones. Rachel's is on her tummy so not on show to the world. I think Michel has his on his back and Matthew I think are his arms. But I'm not sure about that.I do wonder if in years to come they might regret having them done. Yes those that have face tattoos may well have a fright when they get older and things start to slip . I saw a chap who had had the whites of his eyes dyed !!! Now that is going too far I think. Gives me the hebbies

We're back from Bude. We had a meal in a pub down by the canal after that we walked to the sea along the side of the end of the canal. There I saw a sight just like one of those old fashioned postcards. There was a lady wlking very slowly towards the beach dressed only in a mauve bathing costume, long blond hair and the biggest pair of thighs I have seen in a long while. She walked all the way along over the beach to the far side and walked into the sea. She had no towel or shoes on just herself in her cossie. How she had the guts to do that I do not know. We had an icecream on the way to the sea after lunch.

Evening all,
We've had a few spits of rain but again not enough to wet the ground ,i got all the washing dry as there's a good blow out .
We went to the hospital this afternoon for Colin's scan ,he had to have some dye injected into his arm and they then scanned both his kidneys and his bladder ,now we have to wait for the results .
Mel is your company staying with you or just visiting for the next few days ? You do see some sights when your at the coast ,some people just don't seem to care what they look like .
That was good you got your bloods done at the same time as your injection Frank ,saves having to go again .
Shame you couldn't get to the garden centre today Gill to get the bits you wanted but it's no fun going out and plodding round in the rain. Is OH filling his days ok ? has he decided what he wants to do work wise or is he happy to have a bit of leisure time .
I've never liked tattoos ,son has the childrens names and dates of birth on his arms but i don't like it , i think DIL has a small butterfly on the small of her back.
Not another bonfire Jane what ever do they burn ,if it plastic bags i can see how they would stink. It's funny you should mention black eyes as Colin woke the other day with a bruise on the bridge of his nose ,goodness knows how he got that .
Ann thats a good idea putting those polystyrene bits in the big pots i shall have to do that it will use less compost . How are your geraniums doing mine are looking good now ,i thought i had bought a couple of pink ones but they are all red .

That's good Colin's scans are done now. I hope the results don't take long.
The polystyrene makes the pots lighter to move as well as needing less compost Mandy. My geraniums took a while to get going but are full of buds just bursting now. I know two are pink and two are red as they had a bit of flower when I bought them. I think the reds are quite a dark red.
I wish I had the confidence to do that Mel!! I expect as Mandy says you do get some sights in beachwear!! Some of the men amuse me in their shorts and socks with shoes and dazzling white leg between!! I have a job to get OH in his shorts as he gets rashes on his legs with the sun, so I usually tell him he looks like he is dressed for the office!!! It sounds like you have had a nice day.

Forgot to say that on the way to Bude in a lay by was a man doing chainsaw carvings. He had decking outside a lovely old railway carriage. As we went past he had a large mushroom on the grass, among other things, with a lovely twisted trunk/stalk. Alan turned round and we went into the other end of the layby. He had all sorts of thing he had carved out of tree trunk etc. I forgot my camera!! but there were three owls with a huge heart shaped mirrow surrounded by drift wood which had been polished, benches and chairs and stools bowls and baskets all in wood. The big mushroom turned out to be a daisy looking from the side it was bending and Alan like that and it had a duck by its base. I liked the barn owl looking one and so did Oh. We said we would come back after going into Bude.
We did on the way home Alan made a deal with the man and he is picking up the daisy tomorrow but the big surprise was he bought us the barn owl.
A very young fox has just walked across the garden.

Good evening all
Mel I love those wood sculptures, I have seen quite a lot on a walk at the Crich tram museum , they are amazing and so cleverly done . You must send a photo,.have you decided where you will put them? The walk along the canal and the pub meal with your visitors sounded enjoyable, did they come from a distance to visit you?
I hope Colin's results come through clear Mandy, I can remember when I had die injected for one of my scans it changed the colour of my wee bit scary as I wasn't told this would happen.
We still haven't had any rain but not as hot as it has been, I would still like it a bit cooler though. Ruby has got her energy back, I wish I could say the same, the heat just makes me feel ill. the same as Gill's Mum probably, not sleeping properly hasn't helped

I would never have the guts to go anywhere in a swimming costume let alone walk across a beach.Even as child I never felt comfortable in a cozzie . I wish we were all less body conscious .I can't remember the last time I wore a swimming costume. I think it was when the children were young and I used to go swimming at the local indoor pool with Fitz's OH.
How weird that Colin woke up with a bruise too on his face . I hope the results of his scan come through soon . I just showed James mine and he said " how the heck did you get that" :-D
Just dishing up dinner now

What a lovely surprise Mel, Alan buying you the barn owl. My mum has an owl carving out of wood, it's needs a coat of preservative as it's starting to crack with the heat of the sun but it still looks good, it's about 4 foot tall and quite heavy. It sounds like you've had a nice time out today. Strange to see that woman though.
My sister has a big black panther tattoo on her thigh, she had it done in her 20's, I often wonder how it will look when she's a pensioner. I'm not keen on tattoos so have never had one done.
So you've given yourself a black eye then Jane, it must of been quite a shock when you noticed it. Hope it's not to bad and clears up soon. I'm the same as you I don't feel comfortable in a swimming costume, I used to swim a lot when I was younger but don't bother anymore.
How long will it be for the results of Colin's scan Mandy, did they say? Hope they are clear for him.
Oh Anne, I'm so sorry you're not feeling very well, mum was pretty bad for a few days and kept going dizzy and breathless. She suffers from asthma which is why I stayed with her until it cooled down in the evenings. Thankfully now the weather has cooled down she's feeling much better. She also had trouble sleeping and kept having naps in the afternoons as she was so tired all the time. She said she's sleeping better now it's not so hot. Hope you feel better soon, drink plenty of cold water and sit in front of a fan if you can.
I put polystyrene at the bottom of my pots too Ann, it keeps them light and also helps with drainage. Although I've ran out now, so will have to get some more.
The wind has picked up and we lost our Sky connection briefly before, OH said he'll take another look at it tomorrow as it's to dark to see what he's doing now, he did tighten the pole it's on again, but the dish itself needs tightening, so that'll be done in the morning. It feels a bit like winter outside at the moment with the rain and wind and it went dark a lot earlier tonight than usual. Pity it's not heavy rain, it's just fine rain that doesn't really do much for the garden.
Did Green Thumb turn up in the end Frank? Can they do your lawns if it rains? Let's hope it stays dry long enough for the treatment to be done and for you to cut your lawns.
Off to bed now, see you all tomorrow Night Night

Morning you LAZY BONES, Evening Kim,
"Oh what a night it was." it really was a night. !!! We went to our little eatery about 5.00 pm. We were the only customers eating. Ros had her 5 oz steak with pepper sauce and salad. It was ordered Medium Rare. I wanted the fish, but they didn't have any so elected for Scampi. After waiting for almost half an hour the meals came. When Ros cut into her steak it was WELL DONE. My scampi had been left too long in the fryer and was on the burnt side. When the waitress came again to ask if everything was alright. I pointed to Ros's steak and my Scampi. She offered us new meals, but we were half way though it. So refused. There was no offer of a reduction. I would have accepted the mistake if the place was packed, but we were the only two eating. I think I will give them a miss for a few weeks, to see if it improves.
I was in bed by 9.30 pm with terrible indigestion, even after some Galveston.. I was up at 12.30 am being sick. Then when I got to sleep I dreamed all night till I got up at 6.00 am. Needless to say I feel like a "WET WEEK".
Yes we always keep our polystyrene packing to put in the big pots. It helps with the drainage.
Nothing worse than loosing your signal in the evening Gill. I hope your OH has tightened the dish, so it won't move again.
Mel, How lovely those carvings are. We often see a "GIPSY" type man in his Caravan in a lay-by with all his animals and seats. We bought an owl last year at the Blisworth Festival. It sits in pride of place on the patio. No doubt if he's there again in August, Madan will find something to add to it !!!
Jane I feel so sorry for you, with nothing to WEAR. Would you like me to send you some Money to help you. ;-) ;-) ;-)
Mandy when do you expect the results for Colin ?? I do hope everything comes back clear. <3 <3 <3
So Ruby has her get up and go Anne, I have that feeling but it gets up and is GONE !!!
Ros is popping into town with Carolyn at 10.00 she won't be long as Carolyn has Bell Ringing at a wedding at Mid-day. Martine's uncle George (99 this year) has had a fall and is in hospital, they are not sure if he will come through the trauma of the fall. He also has a hugh mass in his stomach, that they are investigating. So it doesn't sound good for him.
The Lawn people came yesterday afternoon and treated the lawns I can cut them from Monday on. I have to be at the hospital at 10.10 am for a check up on my eyes, so I will "SEE" Joke, how I feel when I get back.
Had a call from Jan yesterday. We had left Ros's rings, my glass's, a T shirt, and her pair of Knickers. She has packed them and sent them Registered POST they should be here Monday,
Ros has just put my drops in my eyes, and now I can't see,

I'll have Lazy Bones you Frank. I have been up for hours. It is a sticky day here,so I a mnot sure how well James's bedding will dry on the line.
Did you not miss your specs.? I would have thought Ros would have missed her rings ,but maybe not her pants. At least they are all on the way back to you now :-)
Do you think that Scampi was what made you sick last night? Hopefully next time you go back there things will have improved.
Anne I think this hot weather has got to us all. I hope you are feeling ok again today. I was in Tesco and the lady behind me was wishing for snow LOL
Fitz has gone to Malborough for a freinds 70th.He asked me to get him todays Times Newspaper as it has some recommended wine lists . Well. Tesco had no Newspapers at all, Aldi had none so I tried our mini co-op and was lucky to get the only one. Apparently someone stole the Van that had all the papers in for local shops :-S :-S
I reckon it was just the van they were after as they probably don't have the brains to read a paper .
Mel that was really nice of Alan to buy the carved owl for you. I wonder if it might be the same person that I have seen now and then over the years in a big layby on the way to Northampton. He had a Gypsy Caravan and had all his goods out on show. Some were HUGE !!! . What a skill to have.
Have you seen the young fox again today? I thought you might have had the gun out !! I have popped down to my neighbours to see what they want watering next week. She left a little fishing net out too just in .case any of the fish die in the pond. She said they have lost 4 .I wonder if the heat has made the pond water too hot?.I know nothing about fish and and keeping everything crossed I don't have a death to deal with. Rats and Mice I can cope with . but with fish sometimes you think they are dead but then they suddenly perk up again.
I hope your Sky dish is stable again Gill. It often gets blown in the wind.It must just be in a postion that catches a gust .
Well today is young Williams 5th Birthday !!!!. Janice and Larry went round this morning at 8 to take his presents and then they were all going out for a Breakfast before Michel and William go off for the day somewhere with Michel's friends and their children. It will be somewhere fun :-D

Afternoon All,
What a night you had Frank! I know I would get bad indigestion if I ate in the evening, especially anything fatty like scampi, as one of my tablets I take in the evening causes a bit of indigestion anyway. It's not worth it if you feel ill after!! :-S I'm surprised Ros left her rings and watch behind, you usually feel strange without if you are used to wearing them.
That young fox was a right nosey one Mel, checking everything out. He hasn't got much of a brush yet, but perhaps he's a bit young to have grown much of one. We see those carvings round here, sometimes in the laybys too. I watched them being done with chainsaws at a show once.. Unless they were really good like the rabbit we saw in the open garden earlier this year, OH would hate them. He can't stand statues, toadstools or many kinds of animal ornaments in the garden. He seems to like my home made pebble ladybirds though and I've just remembered the stone seat that had the fat and thin squirrels!! lol. It was kind of Alan to buy you the Owl when he saw you liked it so much.
You must be glad to see Ruby back to her old self Anne. Is she still limping a little or is she using the leg properly now?
No barking during the day next door for the last couple of days as she has taken him out with her! He's still out barking next to our bedroom window first thing in the morning and at 11.30pm at night though. We seem to have an exact 8 hour slot to sleep in or he's waking us up. :-S It's alright for her as she can put a stop to it when she's had enough.
OH has moved the rest of the soil that was too high at the side of the bungalow and is flopped on the bed reading now.
I have sorted out the house insurance for another year and will be able to do my car insurance in a few days.
Our neighbours opposite seem to be having a good clearout in their garage so maybe they have another buyer for their bungalow.

It's interesting you mention gipsies doing carvings. A couple of villages from here there is a splendid bungalow we are convinced belongs to travellers from the vehicles you see there from time to time and it has a little paddock at the side. There are wood carvings in the front garden there including a totem pole!! :-)

Afternoon my sweet things,
I have spent the day with a neck brace type thing on, trying to get some comfort from the pain in my neck (I KNOW I AM) LOL and shoulder.
I had some toast and my mate with a coffee about 11.00. so didn't want any lunch.
The Parcel arrived from Jan this morning. My glass's are the latest reading ones from SpecSavers. I can hardly see out of them, so might take them back to see if they will change them. They were only £35.00 so if they won't it won't break the bank !! Dos is pleased to have her rings back. Poor Jan was worried as she could only insure everything for £2,500.00 and the RINGS are worth over three time that.
Ros is watching POLDARK that was recorded. I'm not sure I will be watching the LOCH this Sunday, as I have found it hard to get into.
Still very cloudy here and breezy, so I can only hope we get some rain. to clear the air.
Jane that chap on the lay by is the one I was thinking about. We use to see him quite regularly, on our way to Conrad when he lived in Rutland. Now we rarely go on the road.
Anne I think a word in your neighbours "shell like" might not go a miss. Nobody wants to be woken up with dogs barking, and when you are in bed at 11.30 pm at night. I know I wouldn't put up with it. !!!
I think it's time for a COT and biscuit or a cream cake, if Ros bought any back this morning.

Ann, the dogs next door to us often start barking late at night ,I think when they are let out for the last wee. One is a big German Shepherd so he has a very loud bark. The little one has a tiny bark. Thankfully the noise doesn't last too long and we have a bit more distance between us than you do with your noisy neighbour. Is the neighbour opposite the one who was hoovering the drive ?
That is good your things have arrived now Frank. Ros will be happy to have her VERY EXPENSIVE rings back. Is the thing you use on your neck one of the blow up ones?Like people use when travelling?I think they are really good.
I don't know what to wear tomorrow when we go to Hannah's. I think it is still going to be quite warm and we will have to walk a little distance to where we are having lunch. Parking is not easy on the streets there.I just hope we will find a space near the flat.It is free at weekends so no permit needed.Hannah says it is quite hilly where she lives now :-S
My Neighbour just rang to say when we go down to water all the tubs etc to please keep the back door shut when we are out the back as they have a RAT that she thinks lives in a big bed(not a proper bed :-D ) just outside the door :-S and she doesn't want it sneaking in.
Chris had a book delivered yesterday. It wasn't the one he was expecting. It should have gone to someone in BARCELONA !!!! I bet the poor chap there now has the one Chris should have had. They are only second hand books from Amazon so not too much to worry about .Just a bit annoying.
The sky looks like it might be clearing as I can se some good patches of Blue now :-D

Evening all,
It's been a nice day here we have been outside getting lots of jobs done ,i have been weeding and Colin has been putting some more new trellis up for the Honeysuckle in the other half round garden .
Jane i thought it must be little Williams birthday soon as it's Lacey's tomorrow ,where has five years gone . Oh i wouldn't be keen going next door knowing there's a rat some where around ,fancy not being able to leave your door open in case it comes in :-0 :-0
Frank i don't think i would have chanced posting those rings in case they went missing in the post ,that's a lot of money to lose if they go missing ,thank goodness they arrived ok. Didn't you miss your glasses ? or did you realise you had left them .
Mel that was a nice present ,the owl , we have a chap round here who sits on the side of the road selling all sorts of carved wooden things . Nice photo's of Mr Fox he's quite brave isn't he .
Not sure when we will hear about Colin's scan ,it's usually about five days but we wondered if we might here from the doctor earlier than that as he pushed the scan through quicker .
Anne that's good Ruby has her energy back after all the heat ,i think we were all feeling drained ,it's nice to have the cooler air especially at night much better for sleeping .
