Frank Report 3 Jul 2017 07:36

Morning to you all, I woke at 5.00 am for the loo, and was wide awake so got up. I have had two pots of tea and been reading my book. I tried to get on here earlier, but I don't think it was awake LOL LOL.

Thanks Mel, I wanted to ring him yesterday, but thought I might be pushing it. So it looks like a coffee on Friday morning. He will confirm on Wednesday. It's there anniversary on the 15th and his 52 nd birthday on the 19th. So will give them the cards and presents this week. Next Saturday week they are going to the "COUSINS" reunion that my Nephew John has arranged at his home in Harlow. He has Cousins coming from all over. There are NINETEEN of them at the last count. I think my sister (82) and me 78 are too old to add anymore to the number.
;-) ;-) ;-) <3 <3 <3

Beautiful morning here. The sun is beaming through the front lounge window. Very little breeze, so hopefully we are in for a fine day.

Speak to you all when you are UP. !!!!

That will be nice to be able to take presents and cards to Simon when you meet up on Friday.

I have to get going now so see you later.

Morning all

Fine rain here this morning but it's suppose to be sunny later so Sandra and I are going to do a bit of weeding in the front garden. I've been busy on and off in my back garden these past couple of days and now have a much tidier hedge and garden. I bought 72 solar lights as they were on offer at Argos, they are all around the back garden. Sandra said it was like Blackpool Illuminations, bless her. She's been all around the garden taking photo's and video and couldn't wait to show her gran. We nipped to her Grans yesterday evening and Sandra asked her to come and take a look at our garden, which she did, just in time to see all the lights come on. She didn't stay long as it was around 10pm but said our garden is looking lovely now. I also bought a lot of flowers which are now in the border opposite the kitchen window.

It's a good job I decided to fix some of the screening the other day, I was up the ladder when our neighbours daughter came out, I asked her if it was okay for us to put some supports on the wooden frame on her side as we couldn't get to it on our side, then she told us her mum, who is 98 years old, had just fell over and she was waiting for the Ambulance. Her daughter was pegging some washing out so I offered to peg it out for her, which I ended up putting on my line incase she was back late from the hospital and OH, who is a trained first aider, went round to see to her mum. He sat with her for almost 2 hours waiting for the Ambulance. The poor lady has broken her shoulder in two places so I should imagine she'll be in hospital for a while. OH thinks they won't let her home this time, as she lives on her own and keeps falling over, unless she has live in help. We'll have to wait and see what happens now. Sandra made a lovely get well card which I posted last night, so she'll get that today when her daughter goes round to check on the bungalow.

OH's brother had a bad day yesterday, which I why I wasn't online, So as you can see it's been quite a few days for us.

I'll catch up with the post later as I'm just going to get myself some tea and toast now.

Gillx Report 3 Jul 2017 12:55

Pleased to hear you finally found the vases you wanted Ann, pity one of them was broken. You were lucky to find another one to match.

How nice to catch up with Simon again Frank, I bet you can't wait until Friday now? :-)

Sun's out now so I think I'll make a start on the weeding in the front garden incase it rains again.

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Jul 2017 13:19

Well, we won't be doing any weeding today, the front garden which is South facing, is boiling, far to hot for Sandra and I, so we've decided to watch a few films instead. To be honest with cutting the hedge, all by hand, my wrist is a little sore, so I'd be better off resting it today I think.

What is everyone else up to today?

Frank

Frank Report 3 Jul 2017 15:44

Afternoon all,

Gill you are having a time of it aren't you ?? that poor old lady next door, she will be in hospital for some time I would imagine. Good job OH was at home, and able to help. I bet the garden does look like Blackpool with all those lights.

Where do you think Ros is ?? not shopping, but in the back garden trimming the bushes behind the garage. Harvey bought her a WAND trimmer last year. It's just too big for the job she's done today, so I expect she will be buying a smaller trimmer.

Simon will ring on Wednesday to confirm the arrangements for a coffee for Friday morning.

Lynn's dog Norman has a mass of cancer in his stomach. She walked him by yesterday as Ros was watering the front garden. He came on the lawn and drank from the hose. That's when she told us. He's only 5 years old, so no age for a dog really . The Vet has given him 6 months or he could be put down if she likes. Which she doesn't, as you well understand.

Cold pork, chips pickle and B Beans tonight. Nice and easy and one of my favourites.

I was onto BT Chat help line for over TWO HOURS this morning. Trying to get my emails up and working. I can see there are 63 to open and read. They need my BT phone account number, but as everything is done on D/Debit No account number is shown on my bank statement, and I can't find any reference to it anywhere. They are going to send it to me in the mail. Why they can't just use it, I don't know. Something to do with Privacy policy, or something. RED TAPE or what ???

I am almost out on my feet now, I have been up for over TEN HOURS. I have been reading my book, but my eyes want to keep closing, so I have put that down.

A bit later, I will do a bit of watering. As everywhere soon drys out with this sun and breeze.

Hope everyone is well and BEHAVING YOURSELVES. I might get back later if i'm not in bed early. !!!

Afternoon All

What a lovely day it is. :-D Frank, I am so pleased for you that Simon rang. I think a coffee at the garden centre sounds a good idea. Bit less formal than a meal out which is maybe just what you need at the moment.
Like you I have been awake and up for hours. I got up at just after 4 and went into Hannah's room to look for some photos of Hannah and James to take to London tomorrow for my old friend Gill to see. Then I sorted out a big pile of clean washing . Has a read on my Kindle and then finally dozed off for about an hour.

Gill that poor Lady having to wait so long for the ambulance. It is like our Liz having to sit on the side of the lane for so long with her broken hip. That was nice of your OH to go in and sit with her. Good of you too to help with the washing for the daughter. I hope that the lady is now being well looked after in hospital .
Sorry to hear that your BIL has had a bad day. I guess that he will have some really rotten ones which is terribly sad :-(

Frank, I really fancy your dinner tonight. WE have Chicken Breasts with Tomato pesto and something on, Sweet Potato Chips and roast Peppers,Mushrooms, and our first Yellow Courgettes :-D

This morning I went down to Fitz as he had little Ottilie and Daddy there. He thought I would love to see her as it has been a very long time since I last saw her. She is a poppet. Tom(Dad) has been on his own with her for the last 3 days as his partner Bobbie has been in Lisbon on a Hen do.. It must be a popular place at her moment as that is where my Nephew Matthew has been for his Stag do.
Ottilie is 15months old now and is toddling with her arms out at the side for balance LOL. We did Row Row Row the Boat and the Wheels on the bus !!!!!. Can't get them out of my head now :-S

I found another nice dress on line early this morning !!. It is from John Lewis so Chris has arranged for it to be delivered to Waitrose and he will collect it tomorrow . I like this one better than the others that are on the way. But at least a load of dosh will be going back on the Bank card :-D :-D The trouble is now for Occasion Dresses for the summer they are selling so quickly and so many are out of stock.

Mel I thought you would be having rain this morning as I saw the weather on TV and there was Bideford with big rain clouds over it. Has it cleared away now?

I know I am going to be too hot tomorrow in London so I have my flappy fan ready to put in my handbag :-D. I need to think about footwear as I have developed a nasty painful crack right under my little toe :-S. Not what I need right now.

Well I better go and get this food out of the fridge for dinner.

I think we are going to the Pheasant on Thursday for lunch for my Birthday . Nothing fancy just the Bar Menu will do me.

Little Benjy and Jess will be here on Friday. Thomas will be dead happy (not ) :-D

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 3 Jul 2017 18:33

Been out since early this morning and I woke to that very light misty rain. It cleared up and we had a lovely sunny day but it was'nt too hot. We went to Launceston and oh dropped me off at the garden centre so I could browse in peace without him getting edgey and wanting to go home BUT I could'nt find my phone when we went so I was edgey all the time I was in there as he usually rings me to ask me where I am. Its such a huge place now and they have changed things around a lot after the new build. Anyway I could'nt find anything that took my eye so I just bought bird food and another scoop for filling the bird feeders and a pack of wall nail things you can thread wire through.

When oh arrived we found each other easily to my surprise. We then went into the resturant and had a roast beef dinner each, coffee for him and orange for me. I thought it was much better than the one we had with Alan and Heather last week at a local pub.

We then started for home and stopped off at Mole Valley Farmers for chicken food and I bought some more bird food to mix with the other stuff and three bags of Farmyard Manure for the border. It was buy two get a third free so that was nice. The car was a bit loaded as we drove home as I had the two sacks of chicken food at 22kg and the three sacks of manure 50 litre a bag. Was dying for a drink when we got back so we had a coffee and I had my milk and water and half a danish each. Then I had to go up the road for a bottle of milk and to post someones card off.

Now oh has just come out and said "Where's my dinner?" bl**dy cheek he can sing for that and may get a couple of toasted cheese sandwiches if he is lucky.

I enjoyed the drive there and back being a passenger for a change and sitting in the front which I can't when we go out with Alan and Heather as Oh has to sit in front so us three girls sit in the back.

Anyway thats been my day.

Gill it was lucky your oh was at home and could help the poorly neighbour but thats an awful long while to wait for an ambulance for a 98 year old. Were they told how old she was?

Its turned all grey here now but it is still very warm.

Jane Report 3 Jul 2017 18:55

Mel ,I would have told him to get his own dinner LOL . Sounds like you have had a nice day today :-D
I have got ready meals in for tomorrow for Chris and James . I doubt Iwill want anything when I get back from London. If I am hungry I can always buy something from M&S at St Pancras.
I haven't seen Thomas all day :-S. There have been surveyors next door doing things in preparation for when the bungalow is demolished :-S :-S. :-(.. Maybe they have scared him off .

Gillx

Gillx Report 3 Jul 2017 21:31

I've just asked OH to remind me to post your birthday card tomorrow Jane. Hope the weather is nice for you in London. I haven't caught up with all the posts as there were so many and then more being added through today, so I don't know why you're going. Is it to meet up with Hannah? What ever it is, have a great time :-) Hope the surveyors haven't frightened Thomas off and he returns home soon. It looks like you might of found the perfect dress now, lets hope so. I'm the same as you, hats don't really suit me either.

It sounds like you've had quite a day today Mel, it's nice when you can go to different places throughout the day. My neighbours daughter did tell the Ambulance people her mum's age but it didn't make any difference. It was like last time when she had a fall in the garden and broke her hip in January, the poor woman was laying on the cold patio floor for over 2 hours. They are so short staffed, it's silly. I blame the cut backs the government are making. They did say sorry for the delay when they arrived, so that was something I suppose.

Sorry about Lynn's dog Frank. 5 years old is very young, she must be so upset.
That's a lot of cousins going to the reunion, hope they have understanding neighbours ;-) Your Simon is a year older than me. I'm 51 in November. OH and I were saying how quickly the years have gone by. We first dated when we were both 18. OH is 4 months older than me.

I'm off to bed now, this hot weather makes me tired and I've been fighting sleep for the last hour, failing miserably as I keep dosing off on the sofa. It's supposed to be a bit cooler tomorrow, so I'm hoping to get the weeding done then, before the weather heats up again.

Evening All,

Mel he was living dangerously wasn't he! :-) I think I would have said 'in the freezer'. :-) You have had a busy day. Still no rain here and it has been muggy and draining here today. OH has a sore throat and sneezes today so is watering the garden in the morning as he was too tired tonight. I think it may be hay fever.

I collected the other vase yesterday and also got some grassy type stuff that has white pearls on some stems and they look much better than the pots I had before.

Jane does that mean the builder's application has been passed now then if they are getting ready to knock the bungalow down? :-S We went to Nuneaton today and noticed 3 more huge building sites have appeared that will have hundreds of houses on each and they are still finishing one just as big. That's good you have found a dress you like better, fingers crossed (sorry, yours will hurt if you do that!) it will look as good on as you hope and be comfortable too. I think it said that after tomorrow it will be around 24 degrees here the next few days!! Phew, I think you will need your fan tomorrow in London. It will be nice to catch up with your friend for a chat.

We strolled over to look at the new house and bungalow they are finishing off at the end of the close. The first thing we saw was all graffitti on the back of our neighbour in the corner's fence that the new bit of road will run along. In the 17 years we have lived here we have never had that happen anywhere. We wondered if someone had climbed the fence from the new houses that were built on the field. If they climbed over at night they wouldn't be seen as there are no street lights. :-S

We heard a bit of a ding dong going on at the back with our neighbour the other side of us to the dog this afternoon. There were 2 older boys in the field but the woman next door was shouting and ordering them away in a sarcastic sing song way (like she was with the builder!) and waving her ipad at them filming. OH thought he'd heard them mention rabbits. She didn't see us and the farmer doesn't mind people using the field, his sign just asks people to follow the footpath. They didn't seem to be doing any harm other than just being there! As OH said, we didn't know where they were from, but the gipsy site is only a couple of fields away and the last thing we need is to be target of any trouble from there. Some people just don't think through what the consequences might be.

Frank I agree with the others that meeting your son for a coffee this time is a better idea. You don't want to push things too fast. The main thing is he is willing to meet up again which is great. :-) What a shame about the dog....so young as well as you say.

That poor lady having to wait all that time for an ambulance Gill. It was so good of you and your hubby to help out and Sandra is so sweet to make her a get well card! I hope she soon recovers, but as you say, it sounds like she may struggle to be on her own again with these falls, which is sad when she's been independent for so long.

I have some very very sad news. All four of the swallow chicks we found dead on the floor of the filter shed late this afternoon. Boo hoo........... They had'nt been eaten so we don't know what had happened to them. Whether they just fell out of the nest which was very shallow or what we just don't know. Oh said he heard the parents chittering away this morning. :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-( :-(

Frank Report 4 Jul 2017 10:26

Good morning my "little Flatteries" Evening Kim,

Well I was in bed just after 9.00 pm and didn't get up till 9.00 am this morning, I only got out once, and slept like a log.

Ros has taken the prescriptions up this morning, and asked if there was a free slot for a doctor this afternoon. She wants me to see someone about my neck and shoulder. I must say that it gets no better, and I am loosing more movement in my right hand also. So there must be something causing this.

I expect Jane is on her way to LONDON. I hope she has a nice day, and a good catch up with her old friend.

Mel, That's sad news about the swallows. What on earth could have happened to make them fall from the nest. You certainly load your car up when you go shopping. I would have thought you could get manure from a local farm, rather than buying it.

Ann the neighbour is looking for trouble. Fancy shouting the odds at the boys when they were doing no harm. Perhaps they were just walking in the field. As for all this Graffitti, it seems anywhere that there is a new fence or wall they have to spray it. It's about time the law was changed so they can't buy these sprays without proving what it's being used for. I know down the canal there is a hut that is plastered with the stuff.

Ros is at the hospital at 11.30 this morning. Women trouble, they are still trying to set out. Carolyn will take her, then pop in Tesco for odds and ends. Carolyn has to be back by 2.30 pm So no trampsing around the shops today.

Nice calm morning here again today. I am going to mow the lawns. They have grown so much since that treatment. I will have a few breaks, so as not to aggravate my shoulder and neck.

Hows RUBY today Anne, I hope her teeth and gums are a little better. Poor old Thomas will have his nose put out of joint, with his visitors.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Jul 2017 11:38

Morning all,

I too slept like a log last night and oh woke me this morning at nearly 11am. When I went to bed I could hear a daddy long legs fluttering on the window. Anyway I dropped off and when oh woke me and went away and I opened my eyes and looked out the window there on it on the inside was a great big HORNET. So I hadto catch that first thing.

Not a bad day here as we have some sunshine but its not blazing. Just as well as oh is laying blocks today.

I hope Jane enjoys a good natter today with her friend and I am sure they will giggle over some of the photos. Tomorrows the big day!

Not itching quite so much now I have been told what was wrong with me and doing the treatment. Its been weeks now of sheer torture with the itching.

I disturbed a chicken on the nest box yesterday morning when I fed them before we went out. In the evening when I gave them their corn I walked up the run to see how much of the pellets they had eaten and on the way back through the very long grass there for all to see in the grass was a nice brown egg. She must have been just about to lay when she popped out to see what goodies had arrived and got caught short. It is surprising the others had'nt seen it and eaten it!! So I had three nice eggs yesterday of which I had one for my tea boiled.

Good morning all

Just got back from taking Ruby for a walk on the way we met Mollie, who was Amy's best friend she is a ten year old collie needless to say she wasn't impressed with our little live wire. Ruby hasn't had anymore teething problems and I have given her a teething bone to take to bed with her.

I do hope you enjoy meeting up with your friend in London Jane. Is Thomas back safe and sound? That was a very pretty sunrise, you were awake early to catch that.

Gill your elderly neighbour was fortunate that you and your OH were there for her but no one should have to wait that long for an ambulance, how caring of Sandra to make her a card. I would think at 98 she will feel more secure in a care home.

Ann your neighbour doesn't have much common sense shouting at the boys who were doing no wrong and not trespassing for all she knows they may be relatives of the farmer.

Frank I hope the doctor can subscribe something for your neck and shoulder. It was good to hear Simon has contacted you to arrange another meeting. You must feel better having a good night's sleep. Be careful when your mowing you don't want anymore accidents

Richard had an enjoyable time in London they got home about midnight. They had their meal at Maxwell's bar & grill which is an American restaurant They had been there before but in smaller numbers, so went they went to order they had to use the set menu which was a little disappointing this was because there were 19 of them

Mel that was sad to find the little sparrow chicks dead. It must be a relief that your itches are getting better after all that time.

Gillx

Gillx Report 4 Jul 2017 13:11

Afternoon all

Not a bad day weather wise today, overcast but cool enough to make a start on the weeding in the front garden.

Sorry to hear about the sparrow chicks Mel, it must of been heart breaking to find them. So what was causing the itching, pleased to hear it's clearing up now?

I remember seeing the post now on why Jane was going to London. I've been so tired lately I didn't remember all I read. Hope it's not to hot for her and she has a lovely time with Gill.

So your lawns are growing fast now they've had the treatment Frank. Be carefully cutting them. Hope it's nothing to serious with your neck and shoulder and the doctor can prescribe something to ease it for you. Hope all goes well for Ros too.

The grass with the pearls sound lovely Ann, pleased you now have two vases to put them in. I have posted your birthday card and the card Sandra has made you today when I posted Jane's card. There's been so much going on lately I thought it best to post them all together incase something else happens and I can't get to the post box. What a shame the youngsters of today have to Graffiti everywhere, there's nothing clever about it and some of it can look a real mess. I feel sorry tor the owners of the fence.

So pleased to hear Ruby isn't having as much trouble with her teeth now Anne, it must of been so painful for her. So she's a bit to much for poor Mollie, lets hope she calms down soon and they become best of friends. It sounds like Richard had a nice time away in London, hope the weather was okay for him. It's been quite a mixture of sunshine and showers lately. Let's hope he dodged any showers there may of been.

Frank

Frank Report 4 Jul 2017 13:21

Well here I am safe and sound. Not only did I do both lawns, but Pam had asked if I could chop a branch of the Eucalyptus tree, that hangs over her side of the fence and when the wind blows it damages one of her bushes. I didn't like to chop it off, so tied it to another branch and pulled it tighter to my side of the fence. I also put some stakes in and tied back some plants overhanging the lawn.

I am now totally whacked out, and having a read before I get showered and shaved.

I have a pailla ready for lunch when Ros gets home. It's one she got yesterday, and is full of everything I like. Prawns, mussels, lobster, chicken. If it's filling enough I won't need to cook tonight. We can have a sandwich or Cheese and biscuits later if we feel like it.

I am hoping I might get a call from the Doctor about 3.00 pm to have an appointment to see him/her about my shoulder and neck.

Pleased that Ruby is feeling well, and is still like a "BLUNDERBUSS" with all her energy. Bless her xx That was a lot of people to be served, no wonder they had to use the set M & U. LOL LOL

That HORNET bought back a memory from childhood Mel. We were out as always across the fields and woods playing. My friend had a catapult and fired a stone into a HORNET'S NEST. We all ran like mad, while he the silly Bu@@er stayed and waited to see what happened. They swarmed all over him, and he was stung from head to toe. He was lucky to survive the attack. and had bumps all over him for weeks. I am very wary if I come into contact with one. I hate them like wasps.

I expect our Jane is enjoying a nice lunch with her friend, I bet a few glass's of wine will be consumed. hic. hic LOL LOL.

Hazy sunshine here, and very muggy.

OH is just starting supper. Chicken pieces, in tomato sauce, rice and mushrooms!
Must go and do some watering!!
