Morning Frank and all,
Cloudy today but it is bright if you know what I mean.
I have a glass door to clean today. Something has been spilt down it and I have only just noticed it when it was closed and the sun was shining. It will need both sides done so that a little job for today and I must deliver the eggs and fetch the paper. Apart from that not much happening around here.
Oh is laying blocks and should get on better today asits not so hot.
I did'nt let the little hog go last night but will do so tonight. I may put it in the hog box down the garden where I feed in the arc.

Good Morning All
I had a phone call from Paul yesterday morning to say they had arrived safely in Croatia and it was even hotter there, he's gone with a mixed group of friends on a all inclusive holiday, today they plan to visit Dubrovnik.
Jane you look just right all dressed up for the wedding, love the dress and the earings you will look the bees knees.
My favourite games at school were hockey and net ball, hated tennis. Being 5' 6" tall helped with the net ball, as now I was very slim, I weigh now just under 9 stone but less than that then, I was always trying to put on weight.
Gill I do feel for you trying to be there for your OH I remember how it was when Peter's youngest brother Ronald died due to bowel cancer at the age of 28 he was married with 2 young children and another on the way, Peter was close to having a breakdown after the funeral and had to take time off work. He died on Peter's birthday
It was so sad reading about the little boy who lost his battle with Neuroblastoma and how dreadful for his parents. This is what Richard had in his left eye when he was 3 years old fortunately it was caught in time but of course he had to lose his eye a small price to pay as it saved his life. Years later when we had our family tree on line with Ancestry a second cousin of Peter's living in Ontario contacted us and he had lost a son at a young age with this terrible decease, apparently it can run in the family.
I enjoyed WDYTYA about Charles Dance, he seemed to know very little about his close family, I wish I had asked more questions when my grandparents were alive.
It would have been my lovely Dad's 99th birthday today. he died in 1988 just after we moved into this house, I still miss him a lot, he died suddenly of a heart attack and he and my Mum had been visiting friends just before, so no warning signs.
What a pretty cake your friend had decorated Ann the flowers looked so real
Frank, Sally sounds like the perfect daughter in Law and just what Simon needs for a wife.
It has been so hot again, yesterday,it was unbearable so felt quite unwell again I did manage to take Ruby out for a walk before 7 and there were a few dog owners out with the same idea bit cooler today and I also have all the windows and doors open and 3 fans on in the sitting room

Afternoon All,
So much for a good night's sleep, I was still awake at 3.00am. :-S OH is off to a memorial match in memory of a player at his old club who collapsed and died during a match OH watched a few years ago. It was one of those sudden heart things and they couldn't save him despite the pitch they were playing one being next to a hospital.
I imagine from what I've seen that Croatia would be lovely with great scenery Anne so Richard will enjoy it I should think. A bit hot though if it's hotter than here! It's a good idea to take Ruby out early while it's cooler. I was reading the other day that some dogs are getting their paws burnt on the hot pavements.
Frank you were very sporty when you were younger. I wasn't much good at running apart from the 100yds races. I used to help pace a young hopeful in hurdles that got me out of doing cross country and never had to do it thank goodness. I did go jogging for 3 miles in my 30s on night's I didn't play Badminton. I was the slimmest I've been then at 7st 7 lb. I also swam in my lunch break at work some days.I loved swimming at school and liked to be the first one to get changed and dive in when the water was undisturbed. One abiding memory from going swimming with my friend at junior school was getting dressed afterwards and realising we had each others pants on!!! Yuk, Yuk!! :-S
I have heard there are some good poppy fields at Shepshed that are next to the road so am off to look for them with my camera. There is a good factory shop and cafe in the village so I can have a mooch in there too and have a cool drink. :-D
I must put my new cordless hoover on charge when I get back so I can try it out and hopefully do the car which has bits all over the floor.

Sorry Anne, I was getting them mixed up! That's good that Richard has been mowing and deadheading. The garden looks so much better once that is done.
Frank, although the decoration is made of sugar paste and is edible, the stems have wire through them so they don't flop......not good to bite into the stems! I couldn't believe how she got the colours so good, especially the Bluebells. I'd love to see a pic of the cake when you have chance to find it Mandy. When I last went to the Hobbycraft Fair they had some fantastic themed cakes. It must take a lot of patience and imagination to make such lovely ones. I never found the poppies this afternoon so I shall have to ask the chap exactly where they are. I did notice a Windmill over the top of the trees that I never knew about. I could just see one sail on it too. Next time OH and I are out that way we can go and have a proper look!!
I'll go and get some salad sorted and plated up for when OH gets home. We have nice english strawberries from the farm shop to follow!

Who do you think is in the garden working. ?? Yes Madam, she is a gluten for punishment !! but on the last leg down the right hand side of the border.
Ann there are some beautiful POPPY FIELDS, out towards BRIXWORTH from Northampton. That's if they are still there.
Have any of you received Emails from me. ??. I have been on the phone again with BT who have talked me through everything again, so hopefully I can receive and send them now. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I haven't done anything today. My neck and shoulder has been a Bu@@@r, I have rubbed cream in it and taken pain killers, I have been wearing the neck brace thing all afternoon.
Mandy I see on the news this morning about all the flooding and storms you had in Norfolk. I hope you weren't effected. We didn't see any of it here. as usual we tend to miss all the weather.
I took in a parcel for a neighbour yesterday, I put a note through their door to say I had it. This afternoon I DELIVERED IT. They couldn't even be bothered to collect it. So I won't be doing that again. !!!!
Conrad is coming back to the U.K. for August. So we are hoping we can get Harvey, Julia and Lewis. Simon and Sally, Conrad and Jan and of course US all together for a nice meal out one evening. We have some lovely restaurants in this area. It's just the case of getting all together.
Anne, it seems that Paul will be enjoying his trip to Croatia, while Richard is busy in the garden, LOL LOL. It's a good idea getting Ruby out early in the morning while it;s still cool. Does she lay in front of the fan during the day ??
Not sure what we will be eating tonight, or what time. Roa is still busy outside, so when she comes in we can decide.

OH and I have just finished watching the first episode of Outlander Mel, and yes we thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you for chivvying me to watch it. We're going to watch part two on OH's PC, then we can watch it or record it on the big TV. I bet the swimming pool has been a godsend Mandy in this hot weather. My parents had an upright pool many moons ago which we had a tremendous amount of fun in. It was 5ft deep and quite wide so you could get a pretty decent swim. My parents were keen swimmers, and our two learned to swim in it. You had a ladder to climb up which was removed when it wasn't in use, so it was fairly safe. I can remember that the upkeep was a bit of a pain, particularly when it had to be partially emptied at the end of the summer, and covered, but we all helped particularly OH! He was always good over that sort of thing.

Afternoon All
Sorry I haven't managed ot read all the posts yet today. I am up and down like a yoyo after Benjy. He keeps going to the side gate and I aworried sick he will get out somehow even with Chris putting wire across the bottom. I have ot have eyes in the back of my head. He is just lookng for Jess. I caught him upstairs rooting through her case which has dog treats in. He was there with an empty pack LOL. But what worried me was I found a blister pack of tablets on the bathroom floor. I don't think he had any. Thomas has been gone since 7am and we haven't seen him at all so far.
Ann, I wondered if Richard had had the Neuroblastoma as a little boy. It is a childrens disease (I think). He was so lucky to have survived . I do think it can run in families. It is such a cruel disease. Oh Oh , Benjy is on the move again . :-S. The problem is that he so tiny and quiet he can slip off without me seeing. I don't want to be responsible it he goes AWOL

What a day we've had. First thing we had Graham and Gerry call in and talk the hind legs off a donkey. Then it was time to go to the shop and do the egg delivery. Got back and did lunch very late and while we had just sat down to it the phone rang and it was oh's brother who was in Sheepwash and wanted to know if it was all right to call in. We put him off for an hour and then after lunch oh had just started on the block work again and they arrived. Him and his wife who we hav'nt seen for years. By the time they left nothing else got done except cleaning up.
A day wasted for me as I was going up the border this afternoon but ended up just sitting up the road drinking tea and coffee.
His brother did take some pictures of the little hog when I got it out and it was unrolling in my hands so I hope he has some good pics of it.

Frank whoever you took the parcel in from should have put a card through their door to say it was at yours !!. Whenever I take a package in for a neighbour I make sure that the neighbour knows it has been delivered to us.
Mandy the dress is purple . I think something silverly might be the best for accessories . Got to go and find the bloody dog again !!!!

Jane, you running after the little dog, reminds me of when I looked after L's pussies. We seemed to spend the whole two weeks either calling them or chasing after them panicking because one or other of them was missing!! As I'm sure you remember one of them didn't make it on our quiet country lane, so there was no question of having the survivor again thank goodness! Actually I had planned to be firm anyway and tell L that we weren't prepared to have them again, it was just too stressful! We're in bed and about to watch a film! We shall probably fall asleep. before it ends!!

No emails here Frank! Fancy those people not collecting their parcel from you after all that time. It would have served them right if you had been going away and they had to wait a week!
Oh Jane, I can just imagine you trying to keep track of young Benjy!! He could slip through the tiniest gap couldn't he. :-S Fancy him helping himself to the treats!! lol. I bet Thomas is snoozing in a shady place somewhere. He won't want that little ping pong ball bouncing around him wanting to play.
I couldn't find Outlander on the iplayer. :-S That was a lovely pool your parents had Liz and I would have loved being able to have a little swim too. :-)
Well, I did nothing apart from do the salad and strawberries for after when I got home. I'm not convinced they were english ones though as they weren't as juicy or as tasty. OH was boiling after standing out at the match, but went out and watered everything tonight. The sunset was smashing with lots of red, so that usually means another sunny day is on it's way.

Thomas is behaving a bit like a bully .I haven't brought him up that way :-D Off to bed once all is peaceful.
I do remember Liz the tragic circumstances your Daughters cat you were looking after :-( :-(.. Just looking after someone elses pet is so much more stressful than your own. I keep reminding myself that Benjy is still a pup.He is only 7months old so he needs lots of attention, attention, reassurance and cuddles :-D(when left with us)
