HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ann. I hope you have a lovely day, and find the present you want. I have to take the once a week pill that you were talking about for osteoporosis plus a twice daily vitamin/calcium drink. So far so good with no side effects! My step-grandfather originally used the staddle stones for a grain store. He had a Corn Merchants business and storing grain was a big part of his, then later my stepfather's lives!

Morning all,
We have sunshine sort of this morning with blue sky and big white cluds with some grey in them. Oh has just tried to strim the chickens field but I don't think he is having much luck. The grass in there is so long its all laying down.

Morning EARLY BIRDS, Evening KIM.
"Happy Birthday to Ann" xxxx Welcome to the 70s. How many of us are there now.?? It won't be long until JANE Joins us LOL LOL. Hope you find a nice piece of Jewellery when you go back to the shop today. Are you doing anything special later to celebrate ??
We had rain most of the afternoon and evening yesterday, this morning it's blowy with lots of white clouds floating around.
Tooth was comfortable last night so didn't bother with the extraction. !!!! I will keep you posted. !!!
Ros is at the hairdressers at lunchtime for 2 hours plus. I must remember to comment on it when she comes home ;-) ;-) ;-)
Jane, that's a real bummer not being able to give blood for two years, what the HELL is in these tablets. ??? It's a good job you read the instructions. It's something I never do. I expect the Doctor know best for what he prescribes. (I HOPE)
I never knew those mushrooms were used for that. Being from the suburbs of London, I never came into contact with that sort of thing as a child. It's nice to learn something new each day.
Mel that BOX hedge must be very large if you haven't cut it for two years. We tend to do ours every few month. A neighbour across the road and has a privet hedge, that he cuts to level and straight it looks an absolute treat. I ofter call over when he is cutting it and say "YOUV'E MISSED A BIT" he just smiles. !!!
Our bin men call early on Tuesdays to empty the bins. Our green bin needs a good wash out as there is grass cuttings stuck all down the inside. A neighbour down the road still has still got hers out. They do look unsightly, and she is in and out all the time, it wouldn't take a MO to put them away. Lazy Moo. !!!!
Well I had better get the greenhouse fed and watered, and clean this bin. Then I will get my shower.

<3 <3 <3 <3.HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ANN <3 <3 <3 <3 Please show us a photo of what you chose in the Jewellers.
At long last we had rain yesterday and it was a lot cooler but it is out again now and warming up again
Liz, I was prescribed the tablets for osteoporosis after having the chemo, the once a week one the doctor stopped prescribing them after 5 years as after that they wouldn't do any good, I still take the calcium ones twice a day. They were good photos of your garden, you have a lot to keep you busy..
I can remember my great aunt picking mushrooms to eat but wasn't too sure when they were in the pan so took them out but fried the bread after and soon after was very ill after eating her breakfast so they could have killed her had she eaten them.
No sixpence from the tooth fairy yet then Frank :-D :-D :-D .

6d from the tooth fairy Anne. I think you are living well in the past now as children today expect much more than that.
I have cleaned out all the chicken water troughs and drinkers and scrubbed out Stinky Poo and removed the tick from its side. It is now ready to leave the shed and go into the garden. We will put it in the hog box down at Prickly Hollow probably tonight. We just have to check the box out and make sure it is nice and clean inside and there are no residents already.
We have had lunch and oh finished strimming the chicken run and then did all around the west lawn edge and bushes and round under the big ash tree in the orchard. I think he needs a rest after that lot.
Frank get Ros to get you some Corsadil mouth wash for your tooth.

Still HOME ALONE. She went out at Noon.
I have fed and watered the greenhouse and washed out the green bin. I scrubbed it while the hose was running. The amount of grass in the bottom looked like I had just emptied the grass box in it. I took the bin into the road and poured the contents down the road drain. The bin is now drying in the sunshine. I must remember not to put the cutting into the bin without something on the bottom.
Anne that was a terrible experience with the mushrooms. I have been mushrooming around this area, but am very careful to what I pick, and how they look. I now rely on shop bought which you know are safe. !!!
As a child I never had a sixpence under my pillow, when I lost a tooth. I know with Lewis it was 50 pence. by what you say now it's a minimum of £1.00. now. How times have changed.
Mel, I think I might have some of that in the bathroom cabinet. If not I will get Ros to get some on her next Tesco trip.
Sun out now, but still not as humid as yesterday.
Rack of Lamb for a treat for dinner tonight. New pots, Broard Beans for madam, pea and carrots, Runners and sweetheart cabbage.
All very quiet on here again today. Roa has just walked in so will get a COT.

Afternoon All, :-)
Many thanks for all your smashing cards and good wishes. I've had some lovely ones.........Gill yours was full of fascinating facts and I never saw anything like that when I was looking for my friend's 70th. Please thank Sandra for her lovely card too. She has made it so nicely and with lovely ponies on it which I like so much!! :-) I was quite overwhelmed when I opened them all this morning. No card from my sister, which is nothing unusual, although I always send her a birthday card. I used to feel a bit hurt, but I accept it is how she is and has always been now. Sometimes I get one, but most of the time I don't!! lol.
The trip back to the jewellers was a great success! She makes a lot of bespoke jewellery and her workshop is in the same building. One of the pendants in the shop was over £29,000, but my untrained eye would never have guessed!! It is all very civilised, but very friendly, even if you are in your tee shirt and jeans, with no sales pressure. They bring you tea and and coffee on a silver tray while you browse and then leave you in peace till you want some help. We had a good look at all the sales things and I tried quite a few rings, but still favoured 2 that I saw yesterday. OH kept saying I should have both as the 20% discount made quite a difference so that is what I did in the end!! :-) I will see if I can send a pic. I also had a fitbit and some of my favourite perfume.
Then we called in for lunch and had something called Chicken Ballantine which was chicken breast wrapped round asparagus, then wrapped in bacon with a lovely assortment of veg and crushed new potatoes. We had the same and also the same dessert which seemed more like a starter really. It was a shared melted Camembert cheese with toasted Ciabbata bread for dipping and a nice onion and veg chutney to go with it. :-D
OH is out at a meeting he's doing for the lady on chemo later, so I shall go to the M&S sale that's started down the road and also get my car washed.
It's a wonder your poor great Aunt ever touched a mushroom after that Anne! What an awful experience. I used to go mushrooming with mum when I was little, but like Frank, I buy them from shops now. I'm even a bit suspicious of the fancy ones though.
Mel, did you not help with the strimming now you've had a go! ;-) The wheels on it sound good for some jobs. I bet the little hog will be glad the tick has gone.
Did anyone see that poor little dog that was absolutely infested with fleas on the Dog Rescue prog? Once he was treated it was unbelievable how lively he was for a 16 year old!!

Afternoon All
Ann I am pleased to got both your rings. Can't wait to see them :-D, It sounded like a very pleasant experience in that shop with your tea and coffee served on a sliver tray :-D.. Which Fitbit have you got? and what perfume. I think you have mentioned your perfume before bit I forget which it is. Lovely lunch too.It sounded delicious . Did you get your card from Fitz? I hope I thanked you for sending his as he did ask me to pass on his thanks.
Frank, the reason why I can't give blood with being on these tablets is if my blood should be given to a pregnant lady then waful damage could be done to the baby, also I think it would not be good for anyone under 15 . I have rung the Blood Service today and have said I will not be donating now .It will be 2020 before I can do it again !!! I am just so relieved I read the leaflet in the box as I would have been due soon to give blood.
I watched Andy Murray this afternoon. Poor man was obviously having trouble with a hip. So he is out now :-(. It had just finished when Fitz rang to see if I was able to drive him into town to collect his OH's car that had been in for a service or something.Luckily the school run was over so the roads weren't too busy. Poor Chris left here on his way to wherever he has gone for the night and only got 2 junctions along the A14 before he was in a traffic jam. Apparently the whole of the A14 from junctions 13 to 21 was closed due to an accident this morning. So he couldn't get to the A1 that way and had to come off and find another route. But he has arrived at his hotel now .He sounded pretty cheesed off lol. No aircon in the room :-S. He did facetime so I could see the room. Nothing special ,just bog standard really, but as long as his bed is comfy and he gets a good sleep he will be ok. He said he will eat in the bar rather than the restaurant tonight as he thinks he could well be the the only one in the Restaurant and would feel a right wotsit .
So it is just James and I here tonight. Ready meals for us :-D :-D. Hospital again for me tomorrow. I think my appointment is at 11.15 so I am going to make sure I get there an hour before as it could take forever to find a parking space there. There letter says to give yourself plenty of time.
I got Chris to do my BP this morning just to see what it is . It was 140/90 . I bet tomorrow when I have it done it will almost be off the scale like last time lol. So I can now give them an idea of what it really is.
Anne ,that was a really bad experience with the mushrooms for your Gt Aunt !!!!.. It must have been the Mushroom juice that was in the pan. Heaven knows what might have happened should she have actually eaten the mushrooms :-0
I buy mine in Tesco LOLOL. Haven't picked Mushrooms since I was a little girl with my Dad.. I do remember Chris taking Hannah out very early some mornings when she was really young to pick them.. Hannah detests Mushrooms. I never ate then until I was maybe in my 30's.Now I can't get enough of them :-D. We probably go through 2 or 3 punnets a week.
Just had a message from James and he is on hte way home now so will get his meal in..He is always like a ravenous dog when he gets in.
I don't watch The Vet programme Ann. I always cry.

I love Super Vet but my favourite is Yorkshire Vet they are such a lovely pair and the Practice is so kind, almost old fashioned. We don't watch rescue progs though, they don't make me cry! but I find the commentators can be a bit over sentimental for me! We've been out all day doing this and that so we are having fish in home made cheese sauce, smashed potatoes and peas, nice and easy! Son is coming over one evening next week. It's his partners birthday soon and OH's is looming so he wants to take us out for supper which will be lovely . We've got a long weekend with them in September which we're really looking forward to as they do spoil us!! L has invited us to have lunch with them a week on Sunday, so we're feeling quite popular!!!

That's good you managed to get what you wanted Ann ,looking forward to seeing them,i was going to ask what perfume you got i need some more i'm down to my last little drop of Givenchy Organza. Your lunch sounded nice too ,just the sort of thing i would have had .
We both got on well at the dentist this morning ,all sorted for another six months . Yes it's a pound now from the tooth fairy ,so 'im told by the little ones :-D
It was a good thing you read the leaflet with the new tablets Jane ,you would have felt awful if you had given blood and then found out . Poor Chris with all the trouble with the traffic today i bet he was glad when he got there .
Your Gt Aunt was very lucky Anne ,i only buy the button mushrooms ,i'm a bit weary of buying any others ,i too remember going with my dad early in the morning across the fields to find the wild mushrooms ,i never ate them when i was younger but i love them now .

How nice Ann to have been served on a silver tray on your birthday. It must have been wonderful to see all the things for sale and good you got the two rings you wanted in the end with the discount, even better. You sound as though you have had a wonderful day. Your sweet was more like a starter, was it on the dessert menu? Sounded good whichever it was on. I would have enjoyed that meal.
I am about to bung the chicken crown in the oven now.

Yes, the Camembert was on the dessert menu Mel........we were surprised to see it there too.
I had a small bottle of Chanel no 5 Mandy that will last me ages as I don't use much. LOL. Also a bottle of Burberry Body. A lady at a perfume desk a few years ago thought I would like it if I liked Chanel no 5 and she was right. It has quite a fresh cologne smell that I like and I get it online as it's much cheaper that way. It's good you both got the all clear from the dentist. My checkup can't be much longer now. Don't you just hate it when they pause to do a bit of extra poking and scraping and will them not to find anything!
I've been watching Joanna too Liz, she was very good in the last series she did as well. I like the same vet progs too. Like you say, there is a bit of quaint old fashionnedness about them that I also like. They really have some wrestles with the farm animals at times and must get some whopping bruises!
The fitbit hasn't arrived yet Jane, but it is a Garmin one that a chap at the Hospital meetings I go to recommended. I didn't want an all singing and dancing one, just the basics to encourage me to move about more and that I can download to my PC as I don't have a smartphone. I hope your BP doesn't shoot up tomorrow. OH has the same problem and has had to wear one of those 24 hour monitors a couple of times. What is this appointment for if you don't mind me asking? Strangely, our parking problems at the main city hospital have at last eased since they built a multi storey one in part of the car park. We used to get warned to allow queuing time. I wonder if other people on the tablets that give blood have read the information?
I see you are hanging onto that tooth Frank. They are a nuisance if they are loose though when you eat. I can remember getting 6d for my teeth. :-D
I have to be up earlier tomorrow to go to one of the research meetings. There will be a lot of traffic about so, like Jane, I will need to go extra early. At least my car park pass arrived in the nick of time today. I think lunch will be provided after this one. :-)

Morning all,
Quite sunny today and at least its dry and comfortable.
I have the library late morning and I must'nt forget.
Oh is off somewhere up the garden doing something with the mower and trailer. I think he may be clean the road off as we have the man coming to give us a quote on the tarmac. There is a lot of grass grown over the edge and weeds in the middle now so its looking like a Devon dual carriageway.

Morning to you all, Evening Kim,
So you are all set up then Ann with your new RINGS, perfume and fitbit. I have heard of a fitbit, but don't know what they do !! Lunch sound nice also. I am glad you hd a NICE DAY xxx
Poor old Chris getting stuck on the Motorway. That's the trouble when you are not near a turn off and the traffic comes to a halt, you just have to sit and wait. It's a pity his room wasn't up to scratch, but as you say it's only somewhere to get your head down for the night.
Mel when they did the paths in the close with new tarmac. One bloke was going along the grass verge and cutting it back to the original edging. It surprised me how much grass they had to cut back.
The rack of lamb was beautiful last night, just cooked (Medium) and very tender. It's not something you can afford on a regular basis for a midweek meal. :-0 :-0 :-0 I am now wondering what to do for tonight. Sheep S@@@ pie comes to mind. If we have some mince in the freezer.
Very overcast here today. Not sure what it's going to do.
Yes Jane, Murray certainly struggled in the last couple of sets. But how nice to see the young lady through to the next round.
Ros has just beaten me to the shower, so I will go in after she's finished. She's off to get het nails done a bit later, so nice and quiet for me to read my book.
