Jane Report 18 Jul 2017 19:42

Welll Frank, Jan's Dad sounded a right one with Women didn't he .Did he think he was a Don Juan ?(sp?)
Shame about Ros's Lobster tonight. You sounded like you did ok :-D :-D

It is Sausages ,Bubble and Squeak, Asparagus and Peas for us.

Mel something must have happened somewhere with all those emergency services on the road and the helicopter . Maybe you will hear something tonight on the local news
You don't get all those emergency services coming down the country lanes for nothing.

I remember donkeys years ago when I was probably 11 being held by my ankles by a Policeman as he put me through the window of a car that had turned over on a bend in a very narrow lane. He wanted me to get the handbag of the lady who had been in the car LOL I was just walking home from the riding stables and the Policeman asked me if I could help LOL . I must been a light weight then for him to be able to lift me like that !!. Not ten ton tessy as I am now :-S :-S

Annx

Annx Report 18 Jul 2017 20:54

I wonder what all those vehicles and helicopter were about and where they were going? You'll have to let us know when you hear! I wonder what the story is behind those skulls too?

Jane I was hoovering out my car with my new cordless yesterday and I had a right game getting my hair off the carpets so goodness knows what it's like keeping up with Thomas........he has a lot more hair than me!! lol.

Good for you Gill showing the men how it's done!!! :-D :-D I bet your OH was a bit stunned when you told him!! lol.

Frank I bet you could have kicked yourself when you found out what the problem was with your laptop not working! I hope you don't regret having those whitebait tonight. :-S I bet JJ is enjoying his stay with you and the walks with Caroline. :-)

Frank

Frank Report 19 Jul 2017 09:38

Good Morning my little flowers, evening Kim,

Yes the whitebait let me know, I shouldn't have eaten them. Indigestion most of the evening and into the night. Alls fine this morning.

We were both up by 7.30 this morning. Good job we were. Simon rang at 8.00 am to thank us for his birthday present. He was near Banbury still going south. He is returning next Wednesday. He said he would catch up then.

Mel, that does sound exciting, seeing all those emergency vehicles, and not knowing where they were going. No doubt the local Radio or Paper will have a report if it was serious. As for the skulls, where are the rest of the bodies going to turn up ??

We certainly had the storm last night. I was in bed with the radio on when a big flash lite up the bedroom then the thunder came. I thought I could hear the rain, but Ros said she didn't and she was still up.

JJ is being a little Angel, he's in and out of the conservatory when I throw his ball down the garden. He catches it before it gets to the bottom, and is back in a flash for me to throw it again. He curls up on Ros's dressing gown at night. She came out this morning and remarked how warm it was !!!

Very overcast here today, and humid. I think th rain will be on and off during the day.

We have borrowed a pond cleaning kit from Jan and Conrad. They had it when they lived in Edith Weston. I am hoping I can suck all this DUCK WEED from the surface of the pond. I didn't do it yesterday as Ros was out, and I didn't want to end up Ar@e over head in the pond. So she will be here today, so we might get that job done.

What are you all up to today. ??

Jane I bet you wondered where you were going, being turned inside down by a policeman. I hope you knickers were clean. LOL LOL/ sorry.!!!

Morning all,

Dull and grey skies. We had some torrential rain and thunder last night but it did'nt last long before it passed over. You could still see the lightening in the distance lighting the sky up and I did hear some thunder during the night.

I slept very well last night. Must have been tired out with doing the shopping yesterday.

Have any of you anything planned for today? I need to do a it of HW like bathrooms etc and have a good hoover as I have left that lately with doing the garden.

My finger is still clicking when I bend it. So annoying.

Frank Report 19 Jul 2017 13:52

Good job we are here Mel LOL LOL

We had surprise visit. LEWIS phoned to say he would be up about 1.00 pm. He arrived and has had TWO massive sandwiches and a COT. He's now playing with JJ in the garden.

It's just started to spit of rain here, so it might clear the air. It is so HUMID. When I came out of the shower I thought I would put trousers on and a short sleeved shirt. Ten minutes later they were off and I was into my shorts. I have been sitting on the patio reading my book. Came in when Lewis arrived.

Julia (Lewis's Mum) has just heard that the job she is after, she has been rejected because she can't start on the 1st Sept. She can't start because even though she has been made redundant, she has to work until her time is up. The company (school) she works for now won't let her leave. If it was me I would WALK OUT, and start the new job on the 1st Sept. What could they do. ??? It seems so unfair that they could treat someone like that. !!

Well the rain hasn't arrived yet, so I am going back outside.

Frank

Frank Report 19 Jul 2017 16:11

Still no rain, but the wind has really got up, and it's quite chilly. I have just closed the doors as the wind it blowing right through.

Lewis has just left as he wants to miss the main rush on the Motorway. He is off to France on Monday with his Mum, and will be out there for a month or so. He will ring us when he wants to be picked up at Luton. (alright for some). I see Ros has put a few notes in his hand to help with his spending money. He is growing to be a really nice and polite lad/MAN. even though I say it myself.

It appears that Julia has to work until the 18th Sept. or she will loose her redundancy pay out, which seems very unfair.

Where have you all been today ?? It doesn't seem normal without you on here. xx

Jane Report 19 Jul 2017 17:15

I'm here :-D

Fitz has been up for lunch . We ate outside but had to put the parasol up as is started to rain (just heavy drizzle). My hair has gone all curly and frizzly now :-S Chris says I look like a wreck .I just looked in the mirror and he is quite right !!! :-S. He said Il ooked like Bear Grylls :-P :-P How rude lol
So a surprise visit from Lewis today then Frank. That was nice. He sounds such a lovely young man now.
What a shame about this job though with his Mum. I expect if she was to leave the job before she is supposed to she might not get the proper payout.
Is it the static Caravan they are going to in France?

It is dark and blowy here. Thomas came in a while ago . Maybe he thinks rain is on the way. He was a b****r earlier when we were having lunch. He came up the lawn with a mouse in his mouth and then played with it in front of us .Tossing it a good foot in the air and catching it again.Poor thing. It ended up being eaten :-(

I definitely had clean pants on LOL when lifted and put down through that car window .Not Jeans Mel. I don't think they had really come into fashion then. I just had a pair of what I would call stretchy trousers on.I never wore jeans until I was in my 30's 40's .I hated them . I do remember all my school friends wearing Levis and Wranglers .But they weren't for me. I hated wearing any trousers back then. Now you can't get me out of them.

So you had the storm Mel and Frank. We had nothing .Just a few rumbles of thunder and a bit of rain.I was sure we were going to be hit but once again it passed us by.

Mel how is that finger ? Is it on the joint? Could it be a bit of cartilage trouble ?

Evening all,

Well what a night we had last night ,it started rumbling and flashing about two o'clock and was still going on at five this morning ,the rain came down too ,i heard it coming over the guttering at the front .
It's been a muggy day and has now clouded up and looks like rain .

We have been shopping , we did a bit in the garden and took some rubbish to the tip and that was us done for the afternoon ,we sat out and i nearly dozed off .

That was nice of Lewis to call in to see you before he goes off to France Frank, does he have any of his friends go over to visit while he's there ?
It does seem a shame that Julia will loose out on the job but as she's being made redundant it means she would miss out on some pay i expect .

Annx Report 19 Jul 2017 18:41

Evening All,

Only a bit of drizzle here earlier but it was really warm and muggy. No storms at all though.

Frank, Lewis has always given the impression he is a nice young man. I bet he is nice looking too! :-) Sounds like Jan's dad led a bit of a double life! I expect Julia's terms and conditions when she took her current job stipulated that she must work her notice if she left. In some organisations it can leave a big problem if people leave without the employer having chance to re-organise or train someone else up. It must be annoying to have lost the new job though and I bet if they had wanted her to leave they would have let her go early.

Jeans were very much in fashion when I was aged 17 as I have a photo of me in my bell bottom ones with wool fringes around the bottom. I had some later that laced up the sides too. My first OH used to wear ice blue drainpipe ones with winklepicker shoes!! lol. As Mel says with being around ponies a lot I lived in mine. I only seemed to wear skirts and dresses and high heels for going out. I was such a tomboy!! Perhaps as well with dad going into a tight lipped sulk whenever I got dressed up. I used to take a bag of clothes to change into at my friend's sometimes and change back to cycle home.

OH has done some weeding today, we had the lunch we had on my birthday, lovely, and went to a garden centre. I've loaded the washer again and have just about got up to date with my paperwork. I'm doing some painting next! Tomorrow I have to be up early to go to another meeting at the hospital, then I'm back there in the evening to their Lecture theatre to hear a talk!

Better go and record the sweet prog now!! :-D

Ann I can well remember wearing yellow bell bottoms with flowers on them! I had some pale blue jeans again with bell bottoms, flowers and a fringe round the bottoms. I had all sorts of hippy tops to go to with several pairs of trousers/jeans! OH had bell bottoms too! and flowery shirts! My MIL asked us if we were off to the IOW to join the hippies! I can remember wearing maxi skirts and a very natty trouser suit! We had a lot of like minded friends and it was during his period that we used to queue for the proms and other events, we never seemed to have any money, so it was the only way to see things!,!! My parents used to look after our two - with hindsight they were good!!Happy days!!

Gillx Report 19 Jul 2017 21:00

Evening all

It's been quite warm here today and we managed to dodge the rain as we've been all over the place today. First off OH took the rubbish to the tip while I watered all the pots, then just as we'd finished doing that mum turned up and asked if we could put her bench with an arch up for her. then straight after that we nipped to the shop and bought some hinges then took them to OH's mum's and fixed her kitchen cupboards. We've not long got back to find the garden has had another good watering thanks to the rain. The screening is soaking wet so it must of been heavy rain. I'm so glad it didn't rain like that while we were out as none of us took a coat with it being sunny this morning. So all in all we've had a really busy day.

While we were at mum's her neighbour gave us loads of really big pots which OH cleaned when we got home. OH is going to punch some drainage holes in them tomorrow and spray them black for me, if it doesn't rain. Then we're hoping to nip to B&Q for some compost and another part for OH's mum's cupboard, it's a part that stops the cupboard from falling on the floor as it pulls down rather than opening from left to right and the part to hold it in place has worn out, we couldn't buy one by her and the B&Q in Ellesmere Port where OH's mum lives has shut, so we'll have to go to the one by us and go back to hers to fix her cupboard. She has a few jobs that need doing and so does my mum so we're going to busy helping them.

I'm absolutely shattered now and have a headache, so I'm going to have a bath and go to bed. I'll catch up with all the posts tomorrow.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 19 Jul 2017 22:16

Sounds like we have all been busy today. I did a load of ironing this morning then did lunch. After that I went out in the garden and swept from my shed to just past the back door patio to the birdhouse. Oh was mowing while I did that. I must say it looks a lot better now. All I have to do now is get rid of the weeds growing in the tarmac at the edges.

Gill I bet your two mums are pleased with the work you have done for them. Has your oh had any luck with getting another job yet?

I see Thomas brought his own lunch to share with you outside today Jane.

Lewis seems such a nice young man. I feel as though we have seen him frow up as he was only young when we first started the thread. I have spoken to him on the phone too when I was trying to get him to show Frank how to copy and paste.

I am looking forward to the sweetie program tonight which I shall watch after I have my shower.

I had the fattest hog come to the bowls this evening before I had the food put out and it just started to rain a bit harder and it ran and sheltered under the decking between the two ponds.

I have had more fish die in my pond and oh can't work out what is wrong with them. They look ok but are just dead. I have a feeling it may be to do with there being a bit of blanket weed in there. They also have no oxygenating weed in there but do have running water bubbling out from the filter. I must need some new sponges in there and shall have to have a look online to see if I can get them any cheaper than the garden centre.

magpie

magpie Report 20 Jul 2017 09:21

Almost certainly lack of oxygen Mel, particularly in the thundery weather. You need plenty of oxygenating plants in the pool this time of year as well as the water being aerated quite fiercely. It helps to have trench as well as they're bottom feeders and clear up all the waste and rubbish the pond inevitably collects.
Son here early this evening to take us to a restaurant he has recently discovered!! It sounds very nice so we're looking forward to giving it our seal of approval! Other than that apart from Waitrose, nothing else doing! I got a clean bill of health from the Dentist yesterday, so that was a relief!!
OH has just sent Cas down to our bedroom to tell me that breakfast is on the table, better go!!

Frank

Frank Report 20 Jul 2017 09:30

Good morning "Sweet peas" evening Kim,

When I went to bed last night, I couldn't settle, thinking of so many things that happened in my life, from childhood to recent times. It got to the point where I was wide awake and when Ros came in 12.30 I got up. I continued to read my book till after 2.30. Slept well until 7.00 then got up.

It's raining quite hard here this morning and JJ was in too minds whether to go out for a wee. He did go when Ros got uo and encouraged him. I dried him off, and he settled in the armchair.

I didn't have jeans until I was in my 40/50. Harvey had some that were too small for him, so I tried them on. They still sit in my cloths cupboard, and rarely come out. I am more a trouser man. I don't think Jeans were around when I was a teenager. Lewis came up in designer jeans yesterday, with splits up both legs. The material is very stretchy. but suit his slim body.

Yes the Caravan is a static type close to the beach, with shops bars etc on site. He bought it many years ago, and did rent it out, but it was more trouble than it was worth. Some people never cleaned it, burnt pans, the people they employed to clean it each week said it wasn't paid enough to do it. So they only use it for themselves. We have been offered it. But Ros wouldn't drive in Europe, so we never took up the offer.

Did THOMAS have any salad with his mouse Jane. ?? What a little Bu@@er playing with it while you were eating.

Gill it seems you and your OH are running THREE HOUSES. LOL LOL. How far apart do you all live.?? I'm glad I got my lawn done on Monday, as with all this rain, it's giving everywhere a good soaking.

Ros has an Eye test at 11.00 am. I'm not sure if I will go with her, or just stay at home with JJ to keep him company. I would hate for him to get upset, being left at HOME ALONE !!!

Time for another COT and toast and my mate. See you later.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 20 Jul 2017 10:13

Morning all,

Brightish morning here and we have a little sunshine. A little bit of a breeze and I have washing to put out on the line.

There dos'nt seem to be so many birds about in the garden at the moment. I hope its not that the hawk has had them! Must fill up the bird feeders as I have forgotten to do it a few times this week so perhaps thats why they are not about.

Did I tell you a few nights ago I was sitting watching something on the telly and heard a tapping on the window . Thinking it was a very late may bug I looked up and it was a blue tit. It did this for half an hour. It must have lost its footing on its night perch somewhere along the front of the bungalow. I know one used to roost in out porch up by the porch roof.

Gillx

Gillx Report 20 Jul 2017 12:49

Afternoon all

Quite windy here today and not very bright, but at least it's dry.

OH is punching drainage holes into the pots we got of my mum's neighbour yesterday, then he's going to spray them black. Once he's finished doing that I'm going to transfer a plant to one of the pots as the pot it's already in is to big and I need that one for a Camellia I'd like OH to dig up out of the front garden. The Camellia is behind a plant that grows really tall so I thought I'd put the Camellia in the border opposite the kitchen window as I need something tall to fill a gap I have, it will also help keep the screening from blowing out like a ships sale. Each time the wind gets up the screening blows and it keeps breaking, so it'll save me a job having to repair the screening all the time. I hope the wind dies down a bit so when OH does the spraying it won't blow everywhere. He said it's not so windy around the side of the bungalow so hopefully the job won't be to hard to do.

I bet you were chuffed to see Lewis Frank, he does sound a lovely chap. That was nice of Ros to give him some spending money. Yes, it does feel like we are running three houses at the moment. My mum lives around the corner from us but OH's mum lives in Ellesmere Port which is about a 25 minute drive away, a bit longer if we get stuck in traffic or there's road works.

I recorded the Sweet programme Mel, so will enjoy watching it when I have five minutes. Yes, both mum's were pleased with our help yesterday. OH priced up the part his mum needs and it's only £7 so that's not bad. He's not going to buy it at the moment as the one she already has seems to be working okay at the moment, but at least he knows where to buy it and how much it is if she needs it in the future.
Sorry to hear about your fish, hope you can work out what's making them die, it must of been awful to see. Let's hope the problem can be sorted soon.

It sounds like Thomas wanted to join in with lunch yesterday Jane ;-)

Did you enjoy your evening last night Liz? That was nice of your son to take you both.

It's starting to brighten up a bit now, so hopefully the pots won't take to long to dry then I can put my plants into them.

Going to grab a sandwich now and a nice COT

Gill, it's tonight that our son is taking us out and we're really looking forward to it. He always has been good chap to us in lots of ways. We're going to stay with him and his partner for a long weekend in September and we know that they'll give us a good time.
Daughter rang as we got back from shopping to ask us to lunch with them on Sunday, she sounded very chipper so we should have a nice day.
Bit of gardening this afternoon and of course giving Cas a run!
