Not mine either Frank, but each to his own!! Couldn't you move your photos into 'archive' for the time being along with other things you keep? It would prevent them being deleted by mistake. Or alternatively email them to Ros for her to have on her computer as well as yours?! A sort of fail safe!!!!
Well done getting the grass cut, as you say bearing in mind the weather, it's a good job done!!
We've had a pretty busy day. Again looking at the weather, I've done loads of washing including our towels and Cas's!! Everything has been out on two lines!! but is now dried, folded and put away. That should be that for a day or two! I've done a load of weeding, cleaned and refilled the bird bath, washed the kitchen floor (not before time!) emptied and washed out the waste food bin. OH has done strimming, weed killing, de- furred the shower head and other tedious jobs! He's also cooking supper! Right now we're relaxing outside with a view to a cuppa in about 1/2 hr!!

Afternoon all

I've been so busy these last two days in the garden, the front garden is almost sorted, but we have decided to carry on with the screening to replace the last of the hedge in the back garden as I'd like to join two borders together to make one big one and I don't want a hedge behind it. With having my plants in pots I would have to move them all every time the hedge needed cutting, so it would be much better to put screening all the way down to the bottom of the garden the same as we did on the other side last year.

I've not caught up with all the post yet but noticed that you have some Nerines you no longer want Mel. I would like some if the offer is still there, thank you <3

I'm so pleased to hear you haven't had the itches for a while, lets hope it stays that way and doesn't come back. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :-)
I didn't know they used to use cob webs to dress wounds and stop bleeding.....that's my something new learnt for today ;-) ;-)

It sounds like you had a lovely time Liz, pleased to hear the weather is good your way. We've had a couple of nice days including today, but looking at the weather forecast before, it's going to rain tomorrow.

Going to help OH with the hedge now, he's cutting it down from the top first, so Sandra and I will bag up all the rubbish. I'll catch up with the rest of the posts later.

Afternoon All,

This is one instruction you can follow Frank, but only if you are familiar with the terms in it. Liz's idea to forward your email to Ros so there is a second copy of it is a good one. You could also forward the email to Lewis so he could print them himself.

http://www.wikihow.com/Save-Pictures-to-Your-MacBook

If you know how to locate your 'pictures' folder on your computer, you can open each photo in the email in turn, right click on it to see a menu drop down. Then left click on 'save as' in the list. The top row of the box will show the destination you want the photo to go in which on my PC is 'pictures' and you just make sure that is in the box before you click on 'save' below. Yours may say 'downloads' in the top destination box and you can save the photos there if you wish. If you don't know how to change the destination, just make a note of what it says in that box so that you can be sure to know where to find them when you want to print them. If I was nearer to you I would come and help.

I store all my photos on picture cards I use in my camera as that way I can take thousands on the cards. I don't download them to my PC from my camera either. I just pop the picture card out of the camera and use an adapter to plug in the laptop and download them from the card. Then I save the important ones from the laptop to an external drive so I have backup copies of those.

It's hot and sunny here now so I'm in long shorts and strappy top. :-D OH was up early barrowing soil from down the side of the bungalow where it needs lowering. He's doing it in short stints so is done for today and is now busy typing up his application for his next Independent Person job to do with setting councillors' expenses!!! lol. His arms have two nasty raw patches from scrapes against the brickwork. I told him it was a drastic way to exfoliate his skin!

Yes Frank, but I kept my cool and politely suggested he put the seat back next time he uses it!! I didn't want to put him off moving it for me as it saved me getting up at some ungodly hour to move it myself!! :-D

Gill I see you are whirring into action again to do a few more improvements to your garden!! It will also mean less hedge cutting to do as well.

Your bag for the wedding sounds nice Jane! Yes I could have done some beading for you and blinged you up for the day!! lol I could have got carried away and made you a 'pearly queen' couldn't I?

Liz, where do you get your energy!! You have been busy.

Afternoon All
It has been a very frosty day her (not the weather). Chris and I had 'words' this morning and still not talking. He went off this afternoon but back now. Still in a huff :-S
He had no breakfast and no lunch so he must be starving now. He better not say he doesn't want dinner !!!!! I won't be amused .
Thomas has not been here all day either so I now getting a bit worried as he is normally in and out . Maybe he is staying out of the way LOL
I hate it when we are like this and thankfully it doesn't happen often . Got a stonking headache now so I will go and hopefully by the morning things will be back to normal.
Dinner is going to be fun !. Hey Ho :-D :-D

magpie Report 25 Jul 2017 18:13

Well I'm not THAT energetic Ann! I do things in fits and starts and sit down for quite a lot of rests!!!! I need to keep my hip on the move otherwise it stiffens up and it becomes difficult/painful to walk properly, and I don't want to keep taking pain killers! It could be a year (!) before it is completely better, so I do as much as I can, taking my time and exercising at the same time!! That's the theory anyway!!!
Fish in lemon sauce for supper. OH will make the sauce, I shall poach the fish! A fair division of Labour, except I no doubt will clear up.!!

Done the shopping and its all put away. Still had indigestion after a bowl of apricot wheats this morning and have only had a doughnut and a cuppa when I got back.

You have been busy in the garden again Gill. I will see what I can do about the Nerines. Did you see the gardeners world where Monty put his in pots? I have had them in pots but they did'nt flower but perhaps the pots were too small. I still owe you a lemon balm plant and I hav'nt forgotten its just getting time to do these things with me.

Frank can you not put a folder on your desk top and transfer the pictures to that. I can put a new folder on the desktop and drag the pics into the folder. You have to left click on the pic move it across and let it go on the folder.

I am sure Lewis could sort them out for you.

Jane I hate days like you have had. What were the WORDS about. Mine can go on for days sometimes so I just act as normal and say things as normal and he comes around in the end.

I had two pressy today from oh. One is a camera which send pics to my pc so I can see when the hogs are int he garden but we need a longer lead which should arrive tomorrow so at the mo the camera is out the window inthe kitchen and I can keep my eye on what he's doing in the garden. Anyway they gave oh a free month of Amazon Prime. Oh is going to set up another screen on my desk so I can use both things at once

The other one is a new kneeler for when I am gardening. He had to reorder it as the last order got stuck in Finland or Germany. The parcel was tracked so I expect someone pinched it as there is a big coloured picture of it on the box which is bad really. I bet they lose a lot of these.

It's ' In the Dark' tonight! We thought last weeks was very good, so we're looking forward to tonight's.
Hope your upset resolves soon Jane. I think we all get on each others nerves now and again, nearly always it's trivial , but annoying /upsetting nonetheless. If you're anything like us I'm sure it will quickly resolve.
Supper is ready, so better sit up!!

I m looking forward to 'In the Dark ' Liz.
As for 'our words' yes trivial is the right thing. It is what I called Chris that set him off into a silent huff. We are getting there (I think) . Like you Mel I am just acting normally (or trying to with gritted teeth LOL )

Nice pressies Mel :-D :-D Why would they put a pic of the contents ??? Crazy.

James is home. Better warn him of the icy atmosphere LOL

Oh dear!!!I. I've been guilty of that on odd occasions! usually driven to it by you know who's drivel!!! It's amazing how childish men can be and how indignant - for hours!! I'm sure ruffled feathers will be smoothed soon, meantime it's probably best ignored.
Good luck!!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 25 Jul 2017 22:53

Jane if you buy one in the garden center you would expect it to be in a box with its pic on the front but surely if you send it out the picture should be covered. Anyway he ordered the new one yesterday and it arrived today. Oh can have my old one now which was mums.

I am now going to watch "In The Dark" .

Gillx Report 26 Jul 2017 00:13

Thanks Mel, I look forward to receiving the Nerines and the lemon balm plant when you have the time :-)

Yes I did see Monty Don planting them in pots, his pots were quite big though, so maybe if your pot was small it might be why yours didn't flower, like you said.
What time of the year do you plant the Nerine bulbs? Sandra is pleased they are pink and can't wait to see them in flower.......bless her.

Sorry to hear you are having problems with Chris, Jane. My OH can sulk for Britain, I try to ignore him when he's in one of his moods, but can see how hard that might be sometimes. Hope all is better tomorrow.

I recorded the Craft programme tonight so will watch that with Sandra tomorrow if we're not to busy. I also recorded the Sweet programme, so will watch that too. I managed to watch one of my Poldark's earlier, so I only have one left to watch now, then I'll be up to speed with it.

Off to bed now, I didn't realise how late it was. I wondered why I was feeling tired LOL

Morning All
It started off really sunny about 6 but the clouds are building now and rain will be working its way up from Mel and Liz.
All calm here this morning. Getting there :-)

Frank, I hope Lewis and family are not near those fires in the South of France.

Chris is off to Waitrose shortly so I need to quickly think of what I might want him to get. BBL

Jane, It sounds as if the storm has passed! sigh of relief all round! Perhaps you'll get a 'sorry' from Waitrose?!!!! Say thank you, nicely!! (gritted teeth?!!)
We THINK we've found a king size bed that we both actually like!! It's an ottoman design and wooden. It will be nice to have more elbow room, so to speak, but it means new bedding etc, so a bit of a marathon but hopefully worth it!!
It's a very wet morning here but not cold. No shopping today, so we're just pickling about!

Morning you two and all,

Grey sky and light rain thats what we have here this morning. Its that fine stuff so should'nt hurt oh's work on the edge of the lawn. I see looking up the garden this morning he has left his sleeveless hanging on the digger so that will have to be retreived.

Gill the bulbs may not flower for a couple of years till they get bigger. They have to be planted with about a third of the bulb above ground. They still have a couple of leaves onthem t the moment and the flowers come before the leaves.

Frank

Frank Report 26 Jul 2017 11:25

Good morning all, Evening Kim,

Well the house is in a right old mess. Being a small bungalow, it's difficult having people staying the night.

Ros went to pick up Jo and Ella from the 11.50 pm plane from Spain. Only to find the South bound M 1 was closed at Toddington. She followed what signs there were, and got lost. It took her until 2.00 am to reach the Airport. By the time they got home, it was after 3.00 am. I was in bed so missed all of that .

Jo slept on the sofa and Ella on the blow up bed. This morning they were still asleep at 9.00 am. I crept into the lounge to get to the kitchen to make tea and coffee. I then asked what they would like for breakfast. A nice full English would be lovely. So I set too and cooked Eggs, bacon, sausages and tomato. Toast ad marmalade and more drinks. Jo sat at the table and ate her breakfast and got straight back under the duvet and has only this minute got up. She has been laying there talking to Ros.

They are just getting things out of the case to go home in, only to find a bottle of JUICE that Ella packed has leaked onto all the cloths in the case. Everything is wet, and stuck together,so GAWD knows what it is.

Ella has taken JJ for a walk round the block twice in the rain. Ros has given him a good rub down, and he's now got the wind up his bum. ;-) ;-) ;-)

I still have the washing up to do, and Ros will have to get all the bedding sorted. I can see we will be busy until late afternoon, as they haven't got themselves sorted so don't know what time they will leave. HAPPY DAYS !!!

I will try to catch up with the posts later.

Gillx Report 26 Jul 2017 13:12

Afternoon all

Raining here this morning but the sun is out now so OH is busy cutting the hedge down while Sandra bags it all up. I tried to bag some of it up yesterday but ended up ill as I'm allergic to it, even though I took a tablet. I've woken up with the itches and a banging headache, so I've left it up to Sandra and OH to finish off. I'll be the one making the new border so we'll all have worked hard by the end of it.

Thanks Mel for the info on the Nerines. I'd never heard of them when you mentioned it so had to go onto Google. They look lovely plants which will be something to look forward to in in the future. I'll have to explain to Sandra that they'll take a while to flower, hopefully she won't be to disappointed.

Cricky Frank, what a day you've had so far, it sounds quite hectic in your bungalow today, I'm sure things will calm down later. Yes I was wondering about Lewis and his family when I saw the fire on the news, hope they are all okay <3

Pleased to hear everything is calm at yours today Jane. Hopefully it'll carry on that way. Life's to short to have upsets isn't it? Peace, love and harmony is so much better.

I'd like a king size bed Liz but we don't have the space in our bedroom for it to go in. We have got one which we had in the front bedroom for a while, but then I bought some wardrobes and it had to be taken down and put in the loft, I replaced it with a queen size one instead so there was room to open the wardrobe doors. You won't know yourself with all the elbow room you'll have. When you say an ottoman bed, is it one of those that lifts up with storage underneath, or have I got that wrong?

While I have some quiet time I think I'll watch the last Poldark I have on my planner, then I'll be up to speed for the next one. Sandra and OH don't like it and talked through the last one when I tried to watch it, so I think it's best to watch it now while they are outside. :-)

magpie

magpie Report 26 Jul 2017 14:03

Yes Gill that's the bed!! The storage space is brilliant and means that we can get rid of boxes on top of the wardrobes and other things as well!!
Perhaps you could get some headphones that plug into the TV Gill? We find them invaluable when one of us wants to watch something that the other doesn't. There's nothing more annoying than somebody talking when you're trying to watch a programme. Our two used to this, many moons ago, and it was very irritating! Luckily it's not a problem now!!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Jul 2017 16:02

You must beware of those otterman bed as they can get very damp underneath. My friend had one and all the stuff stored there went mouldy even though she opened it up on a regular basis. We had one with big drawers underneath and that happened with those also. Mind you oh creates a lot of heat.

Liz thats why I watch most programs on catchup when oh is in bed. He will talk and goes on and on when you don't want him to but if you do it to him......well thats another matter.

We have spent all morning and after lunch fixing this camera up. I now have two screen on my desk, one I have talking to you lot and the other one is showing me picks across the end of oh's pond and the hog feeding area and up the orchard. It is only temp at the mo and he has it on his filter shed under cover of the overhang of the roof.

You certaining had a house full this morning Frank. Wish I was there for breakfast as it sounded delish. You're going to miss your little JJ when he goes off with the girls.

Anne

Anne Report 26 Jul 2017 16:34

Good afternoon all

We had some rain early on I did manage to take Ruby for her walk before it started.

You have had a busy time again in the garden Gill and it's good that Sandra is giving you a hand.

I had to smile about sulky husbands Peter could sulk for England which earned him the nickname of "The Incredible Sulk" the worse thing was most of the time I never knew the reason why. I have never in my life sulked if I'm upset it's all up and over with and forgotten . Richard takes after me but unfortunately Paul is also a sulker but not as bad as his father

We also watched In The Dark last evening and found one part surprising, last episode next week which works well for us as we are away the week after.
The new BBC drama they keep advertising looks like another good drama.

Liz I hope your new bed is comfortable it sounds just right for storage something you can never have enough of. more expense having to buy new bedding to fit though. We found that when we had a new induction hob as we didn't realise most of our saucepans wouldn't heat up on it. All our beds have storage drawers, handy for keeping spare pillows and different tog duvets.

Frank it sounds like you have had a very busy morning, poor Ros getting held up on the way home, she must have been very tired,

Toby at the moment is teasing Ruby through the conservatory glass door he knows she can't get to him.
