Frank Report 27 Jul 2017 15:52

Afternoon all,

What a cloud burst we had here just before lunch. Roa had hooked the conservatory door back in case Abbie wanted to go into the garden. The rain was coming straight through the fly screen into the conservatory. I had to of out to unhook the door and got smacked through in under a minute. It hasn't stopped raining since but now it's the fine drizzle.

Poor OH Gill, I know what it feels like to trap a finger in steps/ladders. Good idea to take his ring off. Better to be safe than sorry !!! Sounds like you are coming to the end in the front garden. WHAT WILL YOU DO NEXT ???

It's Sally's Birthday on 16th August When she was here Monday Ros showed her all the necklaces and bracelets she has made. She mentioned she loves Fresh water pearls, so Ros has bought a lot from Jewellers Maker, and will make a necklace for her birthday. "Cleaver clogs", What she has paid for the pearls and findings would be more than double in the shop, and she can say HOME MADE. Just like you Ann she enjoys doing bead craft. She buys all her GEM STONES on line at night when I am in bed ;-) ;-) ;-) So I don't know what she spends, as it comes from her own account.

Mel, I can well understand that as your OH was a fire chief, he will know all the procedures that should be done. I think tonight is about that Tower block fire, so should be interesting.

I'm so pleased with myself for getting the lawns cut on Tuesday, with the amount of rain we had yesterday and today, it would be some time before I could attempt to do them.

Liz, Nowing where you are, you wouldn't be too far from the motorway, and as you say you wouldn't take to long to get to Chepstow. How far do you think is was ?? When are you going to assembly the bed and get it into position in the bedroom.??

I bet Jane had to have lunch indoors at Fitz's today, if the weather was like what we had.

I see there has been no decision made about that poor little boy, on where he is going to spend his last few days. I do feel so, for his poor parents, I send them my love and thoughts. xxxx Also on the T.V. this morning a little boy of FOUR has KILLED his pet PUPPY. What on earth happened there ?? I do wonder if all these violent programmes the children see today has something to do with it.

Chips all done, by the look of it FAR TO MANY !!!!

Chepstow is about 40 mins from here Frank. Years ago you could only get into Wales through Gloucestershire and boy was that a marathon!! Thank goodness for the bridge!
We've ordered a mattress from Airsprung which will be here on Monday, and tomorrow we're off to Next for a new duvet, and appropriate fitted sheets. As you say Gill, king size duvet and super king covers for the same reason as you!!
Bed's being assembled over the weekend as we have manage to organise some help.
Chicken Kiev for supper, with rice- nice and easy!!

Evening all,

It's been a nice sunny day here ,clouded up a bit at lunch time and Colin said there was a few spots of rain but it wasn't enough to wet the ground .

Mel i had one of those blooming dozy flies the other day ,it kept buzzing round me but i got it in the end .

So you've had another little furry friend with you today then Frank :-D i bet you spoil them .

I didn't bother with the sweet programme this week and i didn't think much of the new craft programme either ,i think the things they made were a bit pricey , £200 to make a knife !! and i think i'm right that i heard her say she paid £25 for that plant that she took one leaf off to put in the glass frame !! and £105 for the beaded light.

Jane the bag is really pretty ,did you say you have some shoes ? or did they go back?
Hope you enjoyed our lunch with Fitz today .

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the craft program was naff. The onl;y thing I am interested in seeing is the mat made out of rope. I saw that when they advertised the program. I missed the first part but it looks like I did'nt miss much.

Don't you think we should see more of the making of the sweets? I think they just want to bulk these programs out. Another thing that really annoys me is when you are watching something on ITV and after each break they say the same thing. I think to myself "O not again".

As I sit here my hands have started to itch again. I hope I am not going through all that again.

Bought myself 4 new tops in the factory shop today in Holsworthy. I like their long sleeved plain coloured top and vest and strappy ones. I have loads now!! but they are so cumfy and they are all cotton. I use some to sleep in in the winter and even have the polo neck ones for winter use during the day. Easy wash and easy iron.
Today I bought a cream one, dusky pink, duck egg and a nice v neck mauve one.

I've been feeling under the weather for the last few weeks, OH thinks I've got a virus. I've tried ignoring it, thinking it was hay fever or the weather as I suffer from bad headaches if the weather is to hot or there's a thunder storm brewing. I started feeling off colour at my MIL's when OH was fixing her kitchen cupboards and have felt very tired and generally under the weather since. I hope it clears up soon.

I started watching the Sweet programme Mel with Sandra but fell asleep half way through. She's left it on the planner but was a bit disappointed as it cut the end of for some reason. The bit I did see from the first one looked very interesting, so I'm looking forward to watching the end tomorrow.

I've got lots of ideas for my garden Frank, so who knows what I'll do next. I'd love a water feature with a water fall. We had one before we started re-doing the garden but where the electric went through to the bungalow there is a new patio there now, so I just need to rethink how the electrics will enter the property and where about to put the water feature.

Evening All,

Liz, what couples are prepared to put up with from each other in a relationship is up to them I agree. Sometimes people don't seem happy about it though, yet do nothing to change things, that's all. However I do dislike the intolerance to those who have different sleeping arrangements, calling it 'odd, weird, strange or would consider the different choice an 'insult'. It's all far too judgemental for me I'm afraid. That's all I'll say.

Frank I agree the solid bed bases and harder matresses cause less disturbance getting in and out of bed. I remember my first marriage bed being very soft and springy and as my OH was double my weight I would feel like I was sleeping on a hillside and it would be very hard to turn over 'uphill' as it were. I think you should start a B & B with providing a good breakfast like that!

Gill, I always thought a Queen size bed was midway between a double and a King size? We always had a kingsize quilt on a double for the same reason too. Not sure about the new Craft programme. It's like a more modern version of Kirsty, but I think I like more of Kirsty's things. It's early days yet though, so I'll see what the next one is like.

I agree with you about the Sweet prog Mel and why in so many programmes now do they show you so many snippets at the start? OH often says 'we won't need to watch it if they show much more'.

I met up with my sister for lunch today at a garden centre. Her doctor wants her to go onto injections for her diabetes and she's dreading doing it. One of her cats is poorly and the vet thinks she will have to have him put to sleep soon. He's 14 and has a heart murmur and is becoming very swollen and keeps going up to her and miaowing. It hammered down with rain as we were about to leave so we had hang about till it stopped as neither of us had coats.

magpie Report 27 Jul 2017 21:15

As you say Ann, best not discussed. All I will say is that no one was criticising other couples, just discussing our own OH's in a fairly lighthearted tongue in cheek conversation.. As you say though, enough said.
A new police drama just started, looks as if it might be good!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jul 2017 21:21

It must be awful to have to inject yourself but I suppose it has to be done. Was she on pills before Ann? Oh is on big pills.

Poor old puss it sounds like he has pussy alzheimer's. Its so hard when you have to part with a long old friend thats why its no more dogs for oh and I. Di said no more dogs for her either after these two go. Milly is 14 a jack Russel and Zak is younger but not well at all. Her children gave her both dogs.

Frank Report 27 Jul 2017 21:32

Hi it's only me signing in before bed.

I have been on the phone for almost an hour to my Nephew who held the reunion all the Cousins. He went on and on and on YAWN. about who said this and that, also about my Mother, who it seemed caused a lot of discord amongst the family. I knew all this from my own experience, so nothing new.

Harvey just rang to say the Emails I sent him didn't have the photo's attached. What went wrong there ??? I asked him where Julia and Lewis were, about 200 miles away from the fires, so they are safe and sound.

The Fire Brigade programme is on, so I will watch the end of that, then off to bed.

See you in the morning. xxx

It crossed my mind that he sounded as if he was confused when she said about the miaowing Mel. I felt so sad when she said he kept coming up to her. I think you may be right about Alzheimers. He's the black and white cat that was on my car windscreen next to the tax disc. I know I would find it hard to see a pet dog or cat deteriorate and die. A home must seem very empty afterwards without them too. OH would, but is not keen on having a cat because he says he would worry about them getting run over now with all the traffic there is.

magpie Report 27 Jul 2017 22:28

I had to inject myself twice a day with antibiotics in the stomach for three months after my hip replacement Mel. You get awfully used to it! . The PM has to inject five(?!!) times a day for diabetes, it's better than a diabetic coma!
Thank goodness your family are well away from those dreadful fires Frank, they look quite fearful!

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 27 Jul 2017 22:48

O Liz I did'nt know that. I still think the first time must be the worst. Three months is a long time to have to do it too.

I hav'nt seen a hog at the bowls yet but must have missed one as some food has gone.

Oh put a new bulb in the outside light for me this morning and we tested it and he said it was ok. When I turned it on tonight it did'nt come on!! Another job for him tomorrow if its dry.

Saying night night now as I am tired tonight and want to watch something to relax before bed.

See you in the morning.xx

Annx Report 27 Jul 2017 22:51

My sister has been on pills for a short while Mel, but she says they make her feel nauseous and I think that is why the doc may be keen for her to have injections instead. I asked her if they were Metformin? as I know from meeting folk at the meetings for Diabetes research that some take those, but she couldn't remember what they are called. She has to take all kinds of other tablets, especially for pain as she has arthritis and crushed vertebrae and I think sometimes the tablet combinations can upset your tummy. Despite everything she battles on and doesn't complain, but can only stand a few minutes using a stick now, just long enough to get from her mobility scooter into her car. She was fine until she was pregnant with her second child, who was a big baby, then got back trouble, made worse by a difficult birth, which she once described as something like a vet extracting a calf that was stuck!!!!

I hadn't realised you had to inject things like that Liz. It wouldn't bother me I think, but I know it would bother OH!! He hates needles. Better than the alternative as you say though!! I have read that there are possibilities for continuous glucose monitoring and insulin delivery etc that may remove the need for injections or finger prick testing in the future, which would be more pleasant for diabetics. A lorry driver told me that a condition of him driving lorries when he was on tablets for diabetes was 9 finger prick tests a day! As he pointed out to me, how many others with undiagnosed diabetes were driving lorries though?

That was good that you heard Julia and Lewis were not near the fires Frank. It sounds like your son was getting some things off his chest, which may have made him feel better! Not your ears though! :-)

magpie Report 28 Jul 2017 08:27

They showed me how to inject myself when I was in hospital Mel, it was that or the nurse coming out twice a day for six weeks, then once a day for the next six!! Her coming clearly wasn't a goer so I had to do it!! A new hip is very prone to infection and for the first three months, dislocation,, so it was a case of needs must!!
You're really not allowed to do anything very much during this time apart from prescribed exercises, for fear of putting your new hip out; no twisting, bending, lifting, driving stretching, it's quite a list and very restricting. Now thank goodness, apart from stiffness, I'm virtually back to normal.
I sympathise with your sister Ann, how wretched for to be so incapacitated. L was a big forceps baby as apparently so was I !! Let's just say there wasn't any question of a repeat performance!!! I take cider vinegar and honey for arthritis, one pudding spoonful each day - I think it helps.
Cas is here! Time for breakfast!

Morning Liz and all,

Light rain here this morning but I am hoping it will brighten up a bit later on and stop raining.

I had an email this morning and was'nt sure about itso ticked it and went along the top icons and accidently clicked on Archive and it disappeared then I remembered who it was so looked for her email address and found it in there!

Frank Report 28 Jul 2017 11:31

Good morning Liz, Mel, and all, evening Kim,

None to good here this morning either. Bright sunshine firth thing, now cloudy and a stiff breeze.

I too don't like the needle, but as you say Liz NEEDS MUST :-( :-( Glad you are over the worst now, just take things easy when you can.

Ros is on that Metformin for her diabetes. together with various pain killers for her back and legs. I'm on 13 tablets a day for all my ailments. Feel like a child's rattle at times. lol lol I think as we age (and we all are) things do need a bit of help to keep us fit and well.
It was my Nephew who was on the phone bending my ear for almost an hour last night. He told me things about the family that I will be looking into later today.

Ros has gone to pick up her new Specs and will get some odds and ends while she is out.

Mel, I didn't really take a lot of notice about the Fire Brigade programme. Did your OH enjoy it ??

Take care all, and enjoy your day. See you later. xx

Mel, I didn't realise your OH could read your threads! I'll bear that in mind in future! That's one thing about an IPad, anything you do is completely private unless someone actually snoops, which I don't think anyone would do!
We've sorted out our bedding, and confirmed with M when he'll be over to help assemble the bed! It's all go here!!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 28 Jul 2017 14:53

All systems go then on the bed front Liz. I hope you get a good nights sleep on it when its all done. Being a small person I have a job sorting out the king size cover and don't think I could handle an extra one.

magpie

magpie Report 28 Jul 2017 15:00

I think I shall need help with the super king covers Mel, but at least the mattress won't need turning over, as it's one of those that only needs turning round now and again and will be easy enough for me, if not OH will always give a hand!!
About to go onto Amazon to get some citronella and a toy for Cas!!
