Afternoon All,
I can well imagine how those experiences would stay with you Mel and why he's especially mindful when you leave an escalator. I have seen two people fall on those and they do have sharp teeth as you say. I know when I was young with long hair I used to think how awful to have your hair yanked out if you fell and got it trapped.
That is interesting to know about Liz when you have a new hip. I suppose you still tend to be extra careful for a while, even when you are given the go ahead so to speak. You must be so pleased that you are almost back to normal now. I'll suggest the cider vinegar and honey might be worth a try next time I speak to her.
I bet Chris enjoyed seeing his painting on Fitz's wall yesterday. :-) I wish I could do watercolour painting and must have a try sometime, but I don't think it can be very easy to get the right effects.
Sorry for getting your son and nephew confused Frank. It sounds like the reunion brought a few things to light! I suppose with us living longer and more things being treatable we are bound to take more tablets. I take 2 now, but with one I take half the tablet in the morning and half at night. OH takes 2 as well, one for reflux and the weekly one for his bones. Mum, after a checkup at the age of 74 was taking nothing,
We are having a lazy day today. A neighbour says the builder has dropped the price of the new house by £20,000 so it would seem there hasn't been much interest. Not surprising with the price he wanted, the cramped position and being so overlooked.
Starting another painting now and later I will plant up my new pebble cacti.

Afternoon Everyone
We had a lovely lunch with Fitz yesterday . He did quite a spread. We didn't come home until about 4.30! Chris 's painting looks good on the wall Ann. The first thing Fitz did was to grab Chris and show him :-D
What a worry for your Sister Ann and the poor old puss. It does sound like he might have Dementia doesn't it. My Sister had a dog that would just stand in the middle of the room and bark at nothing or stand in the middle of the garden doing the same thing and she was convinced he had dementia.
Frank what a relief to know Lewis and family are a long way from those fires. I hope they are all enjoying their holiday. So you had Abbie for a couple of hours. That was nice and she sounds al ovely little dog. You will soon become well known for dog sitting LOL.
Liz I bet you can't wait now to get the new bed up . New bedding too. It will be lovely.
Anyone here can read my threads but they wouldn't be interested lol.
Crikey the wind is really blowing here now and it is so dark. I feel rain is on the way.
The new shopping centre at Rushden Lakes has opened today. . Not all the shops have opened today but I think with in the next couple of weeks or so all the others will have opened. So I am waiting for a few weeks before I go. It must have been carzy today .I heard on the local news some people had queued sicne 4am !. Silly Billies.
Been to the Dr this afternoon to see if I need to carry on with the fungal tabs as I am coming to the end of those ones . He is happy for me to finish them now :-D as he reckons the new tablets I have will sort out all my problems :-D :-D Just have to have a blood test on the 8th and pick up some eyedrops as the new tabs are drying my eyes. Also the inside of my nose.I am just dabbing up some vaseline type of stuff.
Ready meals for us tonight

Ann, It's the Cider Vinegar that helps arthritis, but it is SO horrid on its own that I mix it in a bottle with ? amount of honey to make it palatable! I think it helps, as my fingers on my right hand and my frozen big toe seem worse when I'm not taking it. So?!!!! Yes, I do need to be mindful of my hip as it can take up to a year before it's completely healed and settled!! You aren't allowed a bath for three-months because getting in and out could cause the hip to dislocate!! You could use a bath lift of course, but luckily we have a walk in shower so I was able to use that after my stitches came out, even so, hair washing was an issue, drying, particularly legs and feet, cutting toe nails which I've only just been able to manage on my bad leg as it's still quite stiff and picking things up off the floor! you have a handy grab for that but it's a bit of a pain! Thank goodness OH was up for full time care, including housework, shopping and cooking washing, me and the clothes! else we'd have been in a right pickle!! Also last but not least I had to sleep on my back with a pillow between the knees to prevent me turning over in the night, again to protect that hip!!!! I still have trouble rolling over so hopefully a bigger bed will help. Not a very nice evening, hopefully a better day tomorrow!

Had a bottom cupboard out this afternoon and it took ages to wash everything that was in it. Its now all back but one thing I have thrown out. I was going to chuck out two glass disihes but they would take banana splits so I kept them as oh likes a nana split.

Liz I ofen hear the good things about Cider Vinegar. Never have tried it so far though. You have made great progress since your hip op:-)
Just heard on the new that the little baby Charlie Gard has passed away :-(. His parents will be devastated. They battled so hard for him. Now I hope once they can grieve and knowing they did all they could that they can now have their own lives. They are such a young couple .
I must have missed the thing about falling on an escalator . Who fell Mel? My Mum did just that one day when a good family took her out for the afternoon from her residential home for the afternoon. She went down face first and had lots of really nasty scrapes from the edge of the steps . Thankfully not needing hospital treatment . But she looked like she had ben in a fight. I am so wary these days on escalators. I wait for ages until I feel safe to step on the right step. I think it is to do with my varifocals. I never had a problem before .I then hang on for grim death until I get off at the bottom LOL. Going up is no trouble.
Ann,why don't you give Water Painting a go.I bet you would be great .You are good at trying new things :-D :-D
Jusat starting to rain here now.

Its been raining here all day. I have just fed the hogs and its horrid fine stuff thats gets everywhere.
They say we have this weather for the next week.
Is'nt it always the same when the kids break up from school?
I have bought the little boys next door a plastic catapult with a soft ball you soak in water and fire at each other. It was just a little.

Good Morning all, evening Kim,
I can't believe I am the first on here at 11.45. I have been reading the posts, so someone might have popped in while I was doing that.
I decided to clean the oven this morning, I am about half way there. My back is breaking from reaching into the oven ,which is in the corner, on the left of the kitchen. Good job it's a double oven and better than floor level. I am trying a new cleaner called "OVEN MATE" it's a gel that you brush on the oven/ racks and door. Wipe it off with kitchen roll, then sponge down with soapy water. The cleaning part of wiping off eye has get to be done.
I must have miss the fall on the escalator to Jane, also the cat. Pleased that Fitz was pleased with the painting. Yes a very sad moment for the Gard family, Bless them xxx
Ann, as you are so good with oils I am sure you would be able to manage water colour. At least you could try and see what you think !!!
So the new bed will get assembled soon Liz, our mattress is one that you only turn. Thank goodness as it weighs a ton.
Ros is on her usual Saturday jaunt with Martine. Her uncle George (99) is in a care home at the moment, and is coming on leaps and bounds. The next step is to take him home and see how he copes, and what assistance he will require.
Well onwards and upwards, Will see how good this oven cleaner is now.

Funny old day weatherise. It is neither one thing nor the other.. I think a lazy afternoon is on the cards. Chris is in the Summerhouse.Thomas is sleeping off his 'catch' and James is out seeing his friend Luke who has just come back from the Himalayas (I think climbing) .So I shall carry on watching the Top of the Lake China Girl. I have seen four programmes so far. and have a feeling there might be 12 altogether . That is a lot.

Afternoon All,
You are lucky having beans ready Jane and Mandy about to pick hers.......ours are only an inch long!! I don't know what is the matter with our cues, we picked 4, but then no more came to anything for a couple of feet up the stem, but now some more seem to be growing right above the top of my canes where I can't tie them up. The toms are coming thick and fast now though which is good.
It's been a good drying day Mandy and I was going to wash OH's anorak, but he's gone to a match wearing it!! lol He thought about bringing me to a match your way at Fakenham, but the Thursford? Collection of steam engines, fairground rides etc that I would have gone to look at is closed on Saturdays, so he went to Spalding instead.
I meant to say Jane that The Rushden Lakes development looked fabulous on the tv prog I saw and I shall certainly visit it after it's been open for a while. The Nature reserve around it with the water will be great and you will be able to sit looking out over it. What a great idea to combine the two. I must start watching the Lake series.
I bet Frank will be pleased with his clean oven. :-) It's a horrid job. I hate cleaning the microwave too as mine is an oven as well and it's hard to clean inside at the top because of the elements.
Liz I have some cider vinegar and will start having some myself too as it may help my knees and I've read where it can help weight loss too so that would be a bonus!!

Afternoon all,
The Oven is looking like new, which after three hours grafting away, so it should be. I took off my dressing gown while I did the cleaning, and had just finished and sat down when Ros came in 1.30 pm. She asked why I wasn't dressed. I turned on the cooker light and opened the door, and said I have been installing a new cooker. ;-) ;-) ;-)
She got lunch and a coffee then I went for a shower and shave. I am now reading the paper with Nat. Geo. on in the background. It's all about TIGERS for two hours.
Just looked at the T.V. Programmes for tonight. Thank gawd we have sky, as there is rubbish on BBC and ITV.
I've had an upset tummy all day, I put it down to the Ready Meal from M & S we had last night. Cottage pie, peas, carrots and cauliflower cheese. Nothing to eat for me tonight. !!! Ros will go and get whatever she wants, I expect I will have to go with her to collect it. !!! as she hates going in to the takeaways on her own.
I see I have a load of beans ready for picking, so I will do that in the morning together with digging some carrots, Potato's and whatever is in there they will be O.K. for veg tomorrow. Roa got a lovely Cauli from ALDI for 69 Pence, Tesco's are over £1.30.We have a shoulder of lamb, which will be slow cooked in the braising pan with the lid on. (no splashes on my clean oven).
Ros has got the job of recovering 6 seats of Martines Dinning room chairs. Pam next door also popped round to ask if Ros could turn up the sleeves on a jacket she has bought. The sleeves are hanging over her fingers.
See you either later or in the morning.

Well, our bed is installed, and it looks very pukka ! M came over this morning before going down to Surrey which was good of him, as we are about 50 miles in the opposite direction!! OH could have managed, but another pair of strong hands made all the difference! We had a quick pub lunch, then M went on his way. I hope the cider vinegar makes a difference Ann. It's all worth a try and if successful better than constant medication! Scrambled egg for our supper tonight as we had a good lunch and are not that hungry. Your oven sounds a treat Frank! I've got a combination microwave like Ann which we use all the time, ( I tend to clean it pretty often as its easy to get at,) except in the winter when we use the log burner oven. I find our cooker oven very difficult to clean as its so low down, which now, thank goodness, doesn't matter too much as it hardly ever gets used. As you say Frank thank heavens for sky, as the TV is complete rubbish tonight. I expect we shall try and find a decent film or documentary, maybe geographic - there's bound to be something till bedtime!! Time to get Merlin down and give Cas a run.

That was a good answer Frank!! It sounds like you have made an excellent job of it. Ros is a good soul doing these jobs for folk. Her Uncle is doing well at 99 too if he is looking to go back to his own home. Best wishes to him!! I have been 'trotting' to the white friend this afternoon too! I had a slight headache the last 2 days so it may be connected. I'm just glad I didn't go with OH today though!
You're all ready to test your new bed now then Liz! It will be extra nice with the new bedding too. What did you do with the old one? I think we would have to get the council to collect now we don't have a trailer.
Mel, your gift sounded like a perfect one for the little boys!!

I managed to dry a load of washing which is now all folded and put away. Now we've got more storage space we won't know ourselves!!

So the new Oven Mate was a success then Frank :-D. Good job done. You must have earned a fair amount of Brownie points today :-D
Liz I bet you can't wait to go to bed tonight . I bet it all looks lovely with all the new bedding. I remember the first night in our new bed .I woke in the morning without any backache .That was the first time in years.
My Sister says a cat has been found in Tewkesbury at the side of the road and it comes from Corby (here). It must be microchipped as there is a phone number but there is no reply . I do hope the owners ring the vets where it is now and can get him home again soon. I have cooked these Aubergines. But can see them going in the bin.(at least I have tried.)Janice has told me how she does hers and it sounds much tastier.
I watched all of the Top of the Lake Ann. It is 6 programmes not twelve as I had thought. I think the 12 was for 6 programmes from the first series and then 6 from this latest one.
Casualty tonight and it is an explosive one. I think it was one of these 'live episodes ' so it should be interesting.
Just starting to rain here. I expect Thomas will be heading home :-D

Its rained here all day so no chance of getting any washing dry so I did'nt do any.
Oh has bought another camera and set it up today after making it a rain proof box. This one points down the garden to Prickly Hollow. The only thing is I can see the ends of the roof and the drips of rain that is falling off.
Sorry you have another migraine Gill. I hope you feel better after a good sleep tonight. I don't think watching too much telly helps with headaches.
Liz are you still watching Outlander? I am sure you will have a lovely nights sleep tonight on your new bed and sheets. What colour quilt and cases did you buy?
Glad the aubergines were ok in the end. Its not nice if you grow something and then don't like it!! My runners are about 5 inches long but only about a quarter of an inch wide!! My toms are still green but I did'nt have them till a bit late in the year and ones top broke off in the wind as they are all outside.
Ann what a good JOB ( sorry) you did'nt go with G and stayed at home. As I have said before there's nothing like your own loo when thing like that happen.
