Morning all,
We have a little sunshine here this morning but I don't know how long it will last. There is blue sky and big white clouds.
Ann that was really super. Is that what you EM'd Jane about the other day?

Indifferent old day here so maybe a bit of gardening but not much else! Beef for lunch, courgettes and potatoes from the garden. We should have runners ready in a few days and carrotts. Yes we're watching Outlander Mel, but we've got it on automatic record, then we can watch it at out leisure without those pesky advertisements! Gill, do you think your eyes need testing? could be that you are suffering from eye strain with all these headaches and feeling unwell. I think you're right about the telly Mel, and watching it a lot can affect you adversely. Personally I can't stand it on too much, particularly now we have a bungalow as I find it very intrusive, (hence the headphones!!) Luckily, OH feels the same!! Nice pic of Thomas Jane!!! New bed a great success, so we're well chuffed!

Afternoon to you all, I won't say good as it's not for me.
I decided as I said to pick beans and dig pots and carrots. I picked some beans, turned round and fell backwards straight through the greenhouse, smashing a complete panel. I managed to crawl away from all the broken glass, and pulled myself up on the fork. Only then to stumble and fall again, hitting my head on the trunk of the apple tree. I laid there for a good half hour wondering how I was going to get up. Eventually I managed to get round to a position where I could reach a low branch of the tree and pulled myself up.
Ros was in the shower and washing her hair so it was no good calling out. Apart from letting out a few @@@@@@ I managed. When i got indoors I got the biggest Boloc@@@g of my life, not a word of how I was !!!! So now I have a thumping headache and shaking all over from the shock.
Needless to say I haven't read any posts, but you know I am alright xx

OMG Frank, how awful! What a terrible fright that must have given you, you could have cut yourself to ribbons! Are you sure you are alright? See how you feel later and if you don't feel too good, get Ros to take you to A&E to check you over. Perhaps you ought to go anyway after hitting your head like that. Do keep us posted. Sunny here and very windy!!

Afternoon Everyone So a good sleep for you and OH Liz. I'm glad you like your new bed. You never know do you until you actually try out a new one. Although it is the mattress rather than the actaul bed itself.
Oh heavens FRANK !!!!. Thank god you didn't get cut to ribbons with all that broken glass. I expect Ros was frightened and thats why you got a rollicking. Could you have not called out to Neighbours ?.That was a long time to by lying on the ground and having the crack on the head too. You will just have to sit and relax and do nothing for the rest of the day. Are the 2 of you talking? :-)
Mel is it the Deer with the young one that are in the garden? The baby will have grown a fair bit I imagine.
Gill, how are you today? I hope the migraine has gone and you are feeling a bit better . Maybe a quite day for you too is in order.
I nipped in to M&S in town and managed to find myself a pair of low wedge slingbacks. I need something with a little height to make it easier to walk with this painful Tendonitis in my heel. So I am really pleased with them as they are very comfy . Probably a bit dressier than I wanted as I just wanted something for everyday ,but there doesn't seem much about at the moment as the summer stuff if coming to and end and Autumn fashions are coming in now. It was so quiet in there. I reckon everyone has gone to the new big M&S at Rushden Lakes. I got a few bit of food bits while i was there so didn't need to go anywhere else.
James and his friend Luke have got for lunch at the Falcon in Fotheringhay.James only rang this morning to book a table so I think he was lucky to get one as it is a very popular place. My Roast Beef Dinner is on hold now until tomorrow as he won't be wanting anything else today. So Chris and I will be having a Chicken and Leek Pie and various veg tonight.
Hannah has been looking after a colleagues French Bulldog for the weekend. She is called Lola and is an absolute dear. I will forward a couple of pics. Hannah is smitten LOL
Looking like it is going possibly be a bit rainy this afternoon judging by the clouds. I did see on the forecast that we may have a bit of thunder and some hail. But as it often happens here it could well bypass us.

O you silly boy Frank. You should have learnt by now not to do anything while Ros is in the shower. I do hope you feel better after a sit down but if the headache continues you MUST go to A & E to get checked as Liz said. Shock can come out a lot later too.
I think it is about time you thought of getting perspex for the greenhouse panels which are much safer.
Jane what a little smasher Lola is. Just look at her peering out of the window. I see she is aloud on the new sofa too! Hannah must certainly be smitten.

O yes Jane the baby deer has grown a lot. She's so funny because she eats away at the grass and mum wanders off behind the caravan and then baby suddenly realizes that she can't see her and turns and runs off to see where she has gone.

Nice photo Jane, As Mel says, Allowed on the new sofa?!! Raining here now, so we've put the Beef on! We allow 20 mins to the lb and 20 mins over. It's only a small joint which is enough for us these days so won't take too long. How are you feeling Frank? A bit better I hope.

Still in one piece LOL LOL
I have taken a couple of my pain killers, and my head feels a lot better.
Roast Lamb shoulder this afternoon 5.00 ish. Ros has prepared the veg and cut a handful of mint and made mint sauce. It smells throughout the bungalow. (SMASHING)
I have't read my email yet, so will do so when I sign off.
We have had a real heavy shower that soaked everywhere, now the sun is out and steam is rising off the patio. The conservatory is like an oven. LOL
I have been sitting nice and quiet with the paper and my book. I certainly won't be doing too much this afternoon.
Thanks for your concern xxxx

Afternoon All,
Oh Frank I'm glad you are still in one piece, that could have been an awful accident if you'd fell onto an edge of the glass!! A work friend did that with her wrist years ago and was lucky to still be alive. Bits of glass were working their way out of her skin for weeks. I thought exactly the same as Mel about you getting some perspex cut to size. I did that with my old greenhouse after boys on the park at the bottom of my old garden were kicking balls over and smashing the glass. It was an awful job picking bits of glass out of the soil. I've replaced some panes with perspex in my present greenhouse so I could cut holes where the hose from the water butts can be threaded through and will replace any future breakages with it. I get mine cut to the size I want at a local plastics stockist and it isn't expensive.
Gill, the others could be right about too much tv or the internet, especially if your eyes haven't been tested for a while. Migraines are horrid so I hope you feel a lot better today. It could be dehydration giving you headaches too so you could try drinking a few glasses of water extra. I thought I dranks loads as I start and finish the day with a large glass of water and we have a jugful with our lunch, then there's tea etc, but I have been told in the past that I was slightly dehydrated which really surprised me. Remember you have been busy working in the garden when it's been quite hot. It's always worth a try anyway. :-)
I think I have only cooked Aubergines in that layered dish Moussaka with a cheese sauce and tomato sauce etc. I seem to remember a lot of recipes needed the moisture removing with salt? Haven't used them for many years though. It's good yours turned out ok Jane. Chris is testing you a bit with what he grows!! :-) I must cook the pretty yellow squash a friend gave me tomorrow. It's called a Patty Pan squash and looks like a little pie!! Too pretty to cut up really. I had to smile at Lola.....she's made herself at home hasn't she! I thought about Benjy last night when I watched the puppy prog I'd recorded. These people had a 10 year old Chihuahua and then got a female Chihuahua puppy. It was bouncing off the walls with energy trying to get the old dog to play (he wanted none of it!) and was so quick, rushing in to nip at the other dog, bite it's tail. Jumping on the bed from the floor was no problem and it was relentless determined to keep it up!!
That's good the bed was comfy Liz. I see you have already got the old one ready for disposal! Your courgettes and home grown potatoes should be nice.
Mel, you won't need CCTV with all your cameras, but it will be fascinating to see what creatures are about in your garden at night. The deer with the baby seems to be getting quite used to coming in your garden now.

Ann we think it is the same female that comes each year with her baby to introduce it to the apples. Thats what the mum has been eating today. Just the little opnes that fall off and when oh cuts the gras he uses the mulching cutter so the apples get chopped up and then easier to eat. Sometimes we go out and stamp on the big ones.

Evening all
Lovely and sunny here today so I've been in the garden working with OH, I had a bit of an accident and fell onto a branch which caught my throat. It was quite a shock and not being able to see I wasn't sure what damage if anything I had done. I've never seen OH run so fast as he came towards me to take a look. Luckily it didn't break the skin but OH thinks I'll probably end up with a bruise.
I had a great sleep last night and feel much better today, maybe that's all I needed as I haven't slept very well lately, so was probably over tired. I think the lack of sleep is probably due to my BIL's illness, he had his first Chemo last Monday and is quite poorly from it and my other BIL (OH's oldest brother) is due to go into hospital on Thursday for an operation, so things are a bit strained here at the moment.
I've just been checking my emails (haven't looked at them for a few days)
Ann the picture of Fitz's ancestor is brilliant. What a lovely thought to give it to him after the show. I'm sure you'll win first prize, if they are doing prizes. <3 <3
I love the picture of Thomas, he's one chubby cat isn't he Jane? lol. What a lovely looking dog Lola is. Your Aubergines and tomatoes are looking great. I've had lots of tomatoes so I've decided to look online for a nice recipe to use them up, at the moment Sandra and I are only putting them on Sandwiches and there are far to many just to do that. OH doesn't like tomatoes so I'd like to cook a few before they go off and have to be thrown away.
Does anyone know if you can freeze tomatoes as they are without cooking them?
I haven't read all the posts yet so will do that now.

That's really lovely Mel. I bet it smells lovely and appley after the apples have been chopped up.
I've noticed every day lately there seems to be one of those long legged Harvestmen in the bath. They are usually on their way to the plughole by the time I notice them with the shower washing them on their way!
An old chap of 95 was on a table next to us at lunchtime. His daughter was sat next to him and boy was she shouting everything! I thought it was because he was deaf at first but he had hearing aids and didn't say 'pardon' once and seemed to hear perfectly what another daughter opposite was saying in a normal voice. I kept finding I was slipping my own hand over my 'shell like' to block her screech out. lol.
Afterwards we called in the factory shop and OH got a dark grey Rugby shirt for pottering in the garden for £5, then we called in a garden centre after to look at some loppers with telescopic handles for OH to thin out and reach the taller brambles behind the back fence. They had some but we are off to Grantham in the morning so will look at some at the big garden centre there before deciding which to get.
I got OH to dig up a variegated Daphne that has lovely scented flowers. I thought it would grow upwards but it hasn't and doesn't want to!. It was about 6 feet wide, seemed to have rubbery branches that wanted to flop across the ground and had covered the path. :-S I have my eye on another disappointment that might have to go too. I can't recall it's name but it is evergreen and grows spiky horizontal branches and has flowers that look like a bunch of curly red tendrils. It keeps preferring to grow wide rather than up where I want it to go, despite my persuasive pruning and has hardly any flowers even though it is in the sun.
Another Co-op ATM has been raided in a village a few miles away where one of my beading friends lives. I think that makes 3 now in the last couple of months.

Yes you can freeze tomatoes Gill, I did a load last summer. I skinned some first, others I just put in a bag! However, when they thaw, they're only fit for cooking as they turn to mush and are no good for sandwiches or salads. Glad you feel better Frank..

Polder has just started, as I have never watched one I have come down here out of the way.
We had another heavy shower about 8.00 pm with a beautiful rainbow. Roa had just gone to the Tumble Dryer in the Garage to get the towels in. When she came back the rainbow had gone.
In the past we have sweated down tomatoes and based them up for the freezer. They are good when you do Spag.Bol, so your could try that Gill. Sorry to hear your BIL didn't feel too good after CHEMO. What is the other brother having an operation for ?? NOSEY aren't I ??
I noticed this morning (while laying on the ground) that the Apple tree is full of fruit. It's a Granny Smith's. which we always cook down for apple sauce that sees us through the year. So that's another job when they are bigger and ripe.
Conrad is back from Spain this evening, don't know what time. He is home for the month of August, so I expect we will being seeing him sometime soon. That usually stay at Jan's daughter Kerry. But we can accommodate them if need be.
Jane, I can't believe these people who start to queue at 4.00 am. It's only a superstore after all said and done. It's not as though there'll be a super sale on. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I have a nice lump on the back of my head, and my right side is quite painful. I think I will have a nice HOT shower soon and get to bed.
Ros is just getting herself cheese and biscuits. I have a nice dressed crab in the fridge that seems to be tempting me.
Sleep tight in your new bed Liz, What are you doing with the old one ?? The Heart Foundation collected our old mattress to pass on to more needing people, the only stipulation was it had to be stain free. So might be an Idea to get rid of it, if you haven't already done so.
See you all tomorrow, night, night, sleep tight.
