Frank, P already has a car!! Her parents run a coach company so her dad was able to find her a nice little blue Fiesta! She did her test in it! Probably we shall help with her insurance which I'm told is very high.
I'm in bed, OH is in the shower! I can't get over how comfortable this bed is!!!

Pleased you are happy with the new bed Liz. Nothing worse than paying out all that money just to find you don't like the bed. Sweet dreams.

Our leccy just went out for no reason at all and I got up to flick the switch and it cam eon again so it was'nt us.

Morning all,

Usual weather here today grey sky and raining. Will it ever stop?

We have had the doe and baby in the garden with another deer this morning and mum was trying to keep the other one away from the baby. they were fun to watch a they were running around after each other all over the garden and orchard. They seem to know when the apples start falling.

Frank Report 4 Aug 2017 11:16

Morning all, Evening Kim,

What time are you of Anne ? if you haven't already gone. Have a nice break.

Jane you will have to get Thomas half a dozen bells to hang round his neck, it might give the wildlife a chance to escape LOL LOL.

That must be lovely to look out and see deer running around the garden Mel. The only thing we see is blackbirds, starlings and sparrows. ;-) ;-)

Liz, Harvey pays Lewis's insurance it's £157.00 per month. We have offered to help with Petrol if he pass's his last exam, and goes to Hertford University. He will be able to travel daily from Toddington. That's what G'parents do isn't it !!!

Was woken up this morning 5.30 am with cramp in both my calfs. I had a real job to get to the bathroom for a cold surface, I now feel I have been trampled by a heard of Elephants :-( :-( :-(

Nice bright sunny morning here SHUSH. the rain might here me. LOL Very little breeze, so it could be a nice day. I'm not sure of the weekend weather. Will have to have a look. We could do with it fine as Harvey will be fitting the new conservatory door.

Ros is going to pick up the Scripts, then going to town to get her Grapefruit and a present for Martine and Brian for their anniversary, and any other bits we need.

I am going to get my shower and shave while she is out. Later this afternoon I might take her to out little eatery (IF SHE'S GOOD !!!)

See you all later.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Aug 2017 11:56

Frank when you feel the cramp in your legs raise your feet up and hold them there. I fine this works for me. Sometimes you just know you are going to go into a cramp and I do this and it dos'nt happen.

Frank

Frank Report 4 Aug 2017 12:09

Mel, I was sound asleep, and didn't feel it coming on.

All nice and clean now. just going to make a coffee the get dressed and read my book.
No Idea how long Ros will be. Once she get's into these shops theres no telling !!!

Gill Hope your MIL soon feels better, and you are able to get home to your own bungalow, and some normality.

Pottered about in the shed this morning then prepared lunch. Had a couple of games of cards and now I am going to wash up and go outside to tie up my sweet peas. I picked another bunch this morning and they are smelling nice on the windowsill.

I also have things to wash that I have used in the shed so my hands will be in water for the next half hour.

Afternoon All

Oh I love Sweet Peas Mel. WE have some but they aren't scented.I think they have such a lovely 'old fashioned smell. Fitz says they always remind him of his Mum.

Frank, I sometimes get the cramp in my toes and they go all weird shapes LOL.
I remember when I was a Nurse on the Dialysis Unit many of the patients would get dreadful cramp in the legs. I often had sit on the bottom of a bed with someones foot pushing against my shoulder !. Because they were hooked up to dialysis machines they were unable to get off the bed.

I expect Anne,Ruby and family will have arrived at their holiday home now. I hope the weather picks up for them while they are there. It is pretty gloomy here just a grey old day. No rain ,just a few little spots now and then. I managed to get James's bedding dried really quickly on the line . He is off to Jess tonight so he may not make up his bed until he gets back on Sunday. I won't be doing it :-D

That is a lot of insurance for Lewis's car . Am I right in thinking it only goes down a lot once they are 30? I am just thankful we no longer fork out for James. At one point we were helping both H and J with their car insurance . Hannah got rid of her car when she moved to London which was a very sensible thing to do. Gareth has a Renault Clio but hardly uses it. I think it is mainly used when he goes down to Cheltenham to his parents or here or if he and ~Hannah go away for a weekend. They just use the Buses and Tubes most of the time.

I am wondering how they are coping with the heat in Croatia. I saw on the news that some places in Europe and the Balkans are so hot people are being told to stay indoors during the hottest time of the day. I think this is the last day in Dubrovnik and tomorrow they move on somewhere else. I must have a look at Hannah's email and see where they will be next.

I can see lots of blue sky :-D :-D That is a first today.

I don't think a bell on Thomas will make any difference . Maybe for a few little birds but as for the rabbits and mice he will still get them. Fitz had the BIGGEST bell on Podge and he said it was a waste of time. It looked like a blooming Cow Bell LOL ,and half the time Podge came home minus Bell. Thomas has been out all day. I did get a glimpse of him a little while ago but he didn't come in .He was on a mission :-S

I went to Asda this afternoon and got some more of those Dolmio Tray Bake things. I haven't seen them anywhere else yet. It was so good (the Italian Herbs and Garlic)

Not a bad day here, sunny but windy! I managed to dry towels outside today; they're now folded and put away!
We have three grandchildren Frank, and we have to be careful that we treat them equally so helping them financially has to be kept an eagle eye on!!
I cleaned/cleared out our food cupboards this morning! I haven't done that job for ages and they certainly needed it!! The inside windows got a clean too,so I'm flaked out!!!
Pork chops for us tonight with new potatoes and spinach!

Evening all,

It's been a lovely day here today ,i did wonder once or twice if we were in for rain as it clouded over .
I gave the bedrooms a good hoovering and dust today ,boy they needed it ,also gave the bathroom a good clean too.

Congratulations to your granddaughter Liz, passing her driving test first time and passing her exams too ,you've every reason to to proud of her ,there will be a little bit of celebrating on Saturday when you see her :-D

I love sweet peas ,i tried to grow them once but didn't do very well with them they had very short stalks ,mum used to grow some beauties lovely big flowers and very long stalks .

I feel a bit better today ,yesterday my tummy was very grumbly and i didn't eat much at all just dry biscuits .

That tray bake thingy sounds nice Jane i shall have to look out for it next time i shop .
They were showing Croatia on the news Jane and saying it was really hot there , i thought of Hannah ,best as they say to keep in when it's so hot like that ,i hope Hannah and Gareth had air con where they stayed .
You could see all the air con units on the wall as Gareth was going up all those steps ,now they are moving on he now has to hump the cases all the way down again !!

Evening All,

Can someone send me Jane's pic please as I don't seem to have had it. My word I wouldn't thank you to be where this heat wave is!!!! :-0 I remember being in France with the caravan years ago when it was 36 degrees in the shade. All I did was sit, drink cool drinks and wade in the river to cool off!! Jane I must try some of that sauce as it sounds really nice.

Hope you have a lovely holiday Anne, the place you are staying looks great and I like the area too. Naughty Abbie messing folk about, but she's at the age where minds can be quickly changed! It will be nice for Colin to stay and have a chinwag with a few glasses of wine!

Gill I bet your MIL will be appreciating all you do, but please take care of yourselves too and don't overdo it.

Congrats to your grandaughter Liz on both her achievements. I passed 1st time too and when I was also 17 years and 5 months!! I would have been aged 17 and 10 weeks, but couldn't get booked in with lessons any sooner. No car at the end of it for me though. Dad did buy an old van though for me to take to his workshop to be used for deliveries. It was for mum when she passed her test which she never took, so I had the job of acting as her chauffeur ferrying her about, which saved dad doing it and also for taking my sister to school every morning before I went to work! :-S

I had my hair cut yesterday with a nice head massage. There was no-one else in so it was a longer appointment than usual with us nattering! This morning I was beading with my friends and in between I have been painting a Cornish Tin Mine! There's a lot of rock in it and I thought I'd been a bit ambitious and had bitten off more than I can chew, but it's beginning to look ok now. OH has been working down the side of the bungalow and moving slabs about. His arms are a mess of scratches and grazes and he has an egg on his shin now where he knocked a slab onto it! What is it with you men FRANK?? lol. :-)

Glad you are feeling better Mandy. I hate those kind of tums as you don't know whether to eat or not. I badly need to do some cleaning and tidying here. I notice the cobwebs are all back again and there is dust everywhere! :-S Maybe I'll get stuck in next week!!

Mel, the deer must love it in your orchard when it's apple time!! Are they eaters that you have? Have you seen anything interesting on your new camera yet?

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 4 Aug 2017 21:37

Ann yes I have seen something really interesting. A blimmin spider keep popping down and it comes up completely white and makes me jump as I see it out of the corner of my eye.

The sun did appear later this afternoon so I went into the garden and tied up my sweett peas and pulled some weeds up out of the two big tubs I have with clematis in at the front of the bungalow. I have those BIG snowflake snowdrops in them and their leaves take ages to die down. I may have to take them out and the other bulbs in there as I need some new tulips to put in them.

Looking forward to seeing the picture of the mine Ann. You are so good with stonework.

Morning all,

We have sunshine and showers today so far. I wonder what it will be like later on?

No eggs to deliver today as I have only had two this week and a few bantam eggs so I shall be keeping those for myself. Still have to go down and get my paper though and I have two cues to give to Em an d one to keep for myself.

I feel a bit itchy this morn ing so I hope its not coming back.

How re you feeling this morning Frank? Are the bruises fading?

I shall have another picking of beans for tonight to go with our steak which will be nice.

Things are blowing up a bit here so i think that Thunder and rain could well be with us soon. I shall have to shut the windows I think. Fingers crossed we don't lose the leccy.
Getting darker as I type !!!!!!! One huge black cloud over us now. :-S

Mel I hope yor itches get no worse. That is the last thing you need again.

Mandy is your tummy ok now? Do you think it was something you ate or just one of those things.

I have to put the light on !!!!!!!. Two minutes ago it was lovely blue sky. Thomas is in thank goodness. He must know what is on the way.

Anne, I love seeing the old Tin Mines in Cornwall.I bet your painting will be great.

I reckon everyone at Wicksteed Park will right now be running for shelter as it's almost here. It is incredible how quickly the sky changed. At least I went out and got the paper and some bits earlier.

I have lost Thomas's cat brush. The one with wire teeth that I use to get all the loose fur and grass seeds out. I know I used it yesterday afternoon but it has vanished.
Chris says I am the most untidiest person he knows so it could be anywhere :-S :-S
He is right LOL

Just beginning to rain and the air feels different (that feeling just before a storm)

Afternoon all ,

Lovely here again ,bright bright sunshine but they talk of stormy weather coming later.

Don't really now what caused my tummy upset ,put it down to one of those things.

Oh no Mel don't say your getting the itchyness back again thats not what you want .

Looking forward to seeing your painting when you've done it Ann .

We had some sad news yesterday a dear friend has been taken into hospital and we've been told she has kidney cancer and blood clots ,she celebrated her 92 nd birthday a few weeks ago and has been driving and looking after her self in her bungalow ,she seems to have just gone down hill so quickly, she only wants close family to visit, the daughter told me she doesn't think she will last long now , its so sad, i have been going in to move the post as it comes and keep an eye on the place and her daughter is coming tomorrow with her daughter to take a lot of the valuables .

Shepherds pie for us tonight with nice fresh picked runners from the garden, but first we're having the cooker out to give it a good clean at the back ,the fridge needs to come out too.

Afternoon Folks,

Just had thunder and lightning here and hailstones!! :-0 Maybe it's on the way to you Jane!! It's stopped now and didn't last long though.

I hate it when you lose something you use a lot Jane! You keep thinking it's under your nose somewhere!! I hope you find it before Thomas gets too many knots in his knickers!! lol.

OH has gone to a match in Staffordshire. The egg on his shin had gone down this morning but he was walking like a 100 year old with the stiffness from all the lifting and bending he did yesterday. I told him he will probably be worse later as I find muscle stiffness gets worse through the next day.

Mel, do the chickens usually go off lay this time of the year? I can't remember what happened with mum and dad's. Actually, I must pop to the farm shop later as we need some eggs. I can see how the new tearoom is coming on as well.

I have just printed off the Entry form for the two village show, but am wondering about the cup I have from last year as they haven't asked for it back yet? Maybe they won't, but I doubt it!! :-D Back to my painting for a bit now and I might pop out later if the sun comes out.

What a shame about your friend Mandy, especially as she had been managing so well too. She will be happy you are keeping an eye on things for her though. It sounds like there is no treatment she can have. We are still quite worried about our elderly neighbour further along the close as we saw a cleaning firm van in her drive this morning. We haven't seen her out in her car for a while and yet she is using a stick to walk now and an elderly neighbour was seeing her across the road at the end of the close again the other day. When I wave to her, it's as if she doesn't see me as she would always wave back, smile and come and chat in the past.

Jane

Jane Report 5 Aug 2017 14:15

Sounds like you had it and it missed us Ann
We had just the rain and now the sun is coming out again. I bet OH will be able to hobble to his sit at the footie Ann :-D. You are right about him probably feeling it more tomorrow.

Still can't this cat brush ! I am wondering if I chucked it in the bin by mistake with all the loose fur that I had in my hand. I can see me going ot get a new one tomorrow .

Oh Mandy that is very sad about your friend. Have you known her for a long time?
I hope that she will be well enough to see her Daughter . Good idea for the daughter to take valuable things from her Mums knowing that the bungalow is going to be empty now for some time.

BLUE SKY :-D :-D

Ann I sent you a couple of emails.

Frank Report 5 Aug 2017 15:19

It's only me, Good afternoon to you all. I was up at 7.30 with a lot of aches on my right side. After having tea, I went into the garden and cut both lawns, with rests in between every three lengths of the back lawn. The front lawn isn't to big, so no trouble there. It was all done before Ros went shopping.

I went to the pub at lunchtime, firstly to have a walk, and fresh air. But of course a couple of pints went down well. I meet a friends Daughters friend and got talking. She only 31 and has a serious HEART PROBLEM. She can only eat Jacket Potato's and SPINACH. she drinks four litres of cold water a day, and that's it. She was in the pub with her husband and looked surprising well considering.

Well it seems that Anne is safely arrived for her holiday. I assume she left this morning, and is now settling in for a few days break.

Mandy that must be a great worry for the old woman, knowing how well she has looked after herself. It's nice that you are there to keep an eye on her.

Jane I can see the only way with Thomas is to pit him on a long lead, so he can't get at the wild life.

We had a lot of rain around 1.00 pm, but now the sun is shining and looks quite nice out. Next weekend is the Blisworth Festival, so hope the weather improves, as the are thousands of visitors over the weekend. We might see Simon and Sally as they said they might come over for it.

Time for a few zzzz so see you later.

Cat Brush was on the coffee table !!! Chris has just been going through the kitchen bin with marigolds on and then I found it . He wasn't amused :-D :-D
How I didn't see the brush I have no idea.It was staring me in the face !

Ann what a worry with your neighbour. It sounds if she is having cleaning people in she is no longer able to look after her home on her own.
Maybe she doesn't wave back Ann is because she is concentrating on her walking with her stick and can't take her eyes off the road . She does sound pretty vulnerable .

The only older neighbours we have near us are our friends Norma and Colin. Norma is about 76 and like a spring chicken but her OH has been diagnosed with Parkinsons and is is a different man than he was just a year ago. They know they can call us at any time especially if Colin was to have a fall .He is getting a bit unsteady on his feet.

This weather today is bonkers .It is like a Summers afternoon here now.
