Afternnoon All
Just back from having my toenails cut and sorted.Boy they look great now :-) I can't imagine spending my days dealing with peoples feet. I shall be able to varnish them nicely now for the wedding.

Our will just gives Half and Half of everything to Hannah and James. If and when we have Grandchildren we may think about changing it to include them.
It is so important to do a will . When my best friend died she hadn't done hers. What a big mistake that was, because her husband who had left her and gone off with another woman got the house and everything in it. Rachel and Mark only had the pension from her Teaching. It was a nightmare and so very upsetting.
My Mum left Janice and I a quarter each and the other half was split between the 4 Grandchildren.

Sorry to hear your Sister is still not great Frank. It seems it is one thing after another.I hope that things will improve for her.
Gill has been off for a while now. She will be trying to keep an eye on her OH and his Mum and also Sandra,so quite a difficult time. I just hope that Gill is ok herself.

Frank, I am sure Hannah didn't go starkers,as she said she was more reserved LOL.
I don't think I have ever been to a Nudist beach although seen many topless women.
I have to say I wouldn't feel at all comfortable stripping off on a beach (although I have been skinny dipping back in my younger days).I think it was dark :-D :-D

Hannah has sent me a couple of brilliant pics today. The view from where they were is fantastic .They seemed to be on the top of a mountain looking down over the town and lake. I will send them on. Please say if you get fed up with me sending them.

Jess and Benjy are here. Thomas did his important looking thing by creeping up and just staring at Benjy LOL .But I think poor Thomas is not himself today. I am wondering if he has eaten something that hasn't agreed. He has been sitting looking hunched up a lot ,and very quiet. I will just have to keep an eye on him.He has taken himself out to the Summerhouse.

I see our famous vicar from Finedon, Richard Coles is going to be on Strictly come dancing. I wonder how he has time to do his vicaring as he has so many other things going on. Maybe his Husband takes over as i know he is a Vicar too.

I have no idea what is going on with the traffic here today .It has been hellish. To get out of Tesco Carpark they had to open a barrier down by the back of the store to let some of us out as the other way way totally backed up. All through town the traffic just seemed to coming one way as well. Lots of irrate drivers. I got tooted at because I let a couple of cars out from a side road and the chap behind me was wanting to move on. He sped past me (I gave him one of my looks) and then the traffic lights went red just before he got there LOL. So I just pulled up along side him as i was going straight on and he was waiting to turn right. My light went green first and he was still stuck there
:-D :-D. Bet he felt a right **** .He didn't look at me.

Best get on with sorting dinner now.

Afternoon all,

Mel the reason for changing is that I wipe my hands down my joggers, and get grass cuttings on them also being clumsy, I might trip and kneel down to empty the grass box, so I get in a mess.

Ann that is exactly what my neighbour Dennis found under a piece of rotting wood in his garden the other week.

We both made wills a few years ago. We must add a codicil to include Lewis. Even though both Conrad and Harvey said, they are alright if we leave everything to Lewis. It would certainly give him a home to start his life off. But hang on, I'm going to live to be at least 100. LOL LOL So he wouldn't see it until he was in his 40s. By then I expect he would have his own house anyway. ;-) ;-) ;-)

The sunshine this morning has turned out to be a cloudy afternoon and the breeze is getting up. Not sure of the evenings forecast, will have to watch the 6.00 pm News.

I am going to walk to the pub this evening to watch the first match of the season. I doubt I will go tomorrow lunchtime, as if I do I won't want to walk down the canal after a couple of pints.

I spoke with Simon, he doesn't think he will be coming to the festival. Certainly not in his narrow boat as it will take THREE DAYS to get here. If he is coming by car, he will phone and let me know. If not, he and Sally will pop over Wednesday evening, as it's her birthday.

Stir fry tonight, so Ros is in charge. Me got a night off !!!

My parents left everything they had first to each other and then to me. We've done the same. It's just easier. If they want to treat the grandchildren it's up to them. We've also made a list of valuables, family photos, books etc with whoever's name on it to hopefully save any fusses about who has what! That's the idea anyway!!
Heaven's Frank, I'm sure Lewis will have his own home by the time he's 40, probably long before then I would imagine !!!!! as for certain you'll live to a very ripe old age!!
Dark and gloomy here but no rain - yet!!

Ann, It is Garlic I use with the Runners and Tinned Tomatoes. I also chuck a few herbs in too. I love it cold as well as hot. I think it is a Greek dish.Just can't think what it is called now. But I ate loads when I was living in Athens. I am the only one here who really likes it. I will be doing some for myself next week :-D

We have heavy drizzle here now :-S. But I think it might not last too long.

It's been a lovely day here plenty of sun ,we sat out but had to have the garden brolly up for a bit of shade .

You can see Hannah is getting a nice tan ,what a view in the photo ,it certainly looks a lovely place.

Mel have you tried drinking a mug of hot water for your indigestion? drink it as hot as you can it certainly works for me.

I'm going to do that bean recipe Jane ,it's a way of using up the runners ,i do like to make the pickle with the runners too.

Morning all, evening Kim,

This site is becoming a place for "RAPISTS" "NUDISTS" and "SKINNY DIPPERS" a bit too much for my innocent upbringing LOL LOL

I am still smiling at that one Mel.

Jane that sounds a bit like ratatouille only with beans instead of aubergine. We often have that for a change. Hannah has found some lovely spots on their holiday. It's not somewhere I have ever thought of gong. Would it be to strenuous for us OLD PEOPLE. ????

We never saw any rain yesterday evening, but I felt a light misty stuff on my face as I walked to the pub. This morning doesn't seem to know what to do. Plenty of cloud and very overcast and a lot cooler.

Ros is off to meet Martine for their Saturday shop and natter. The lawn looks o.k. so I won't bother with trying to cut it, as I don't want to Bu@@er myself for a walk down the canal this afternoon.

Hope the weather hols up for them, and you if you are going out. See you later.

Morning Frank and all,

I feel much better this morning. I had a lie in till 11am.

Cloudy skies here which are pale grey but it not raining ......yet.

Only had two eggs this week so no egg delivery to do although I could give her some bantam eggs. I popped round yesterday with some plums, beauty of bath apples and bramley apples but they were out so I left them by the door.

Then there is the shop to do for the paper.

I hope it stay dry for the festival Frank and you will have a nice time chatting to people. You may even get a little sunshine if you're lucky.

Whatever everyone is doing have a good day.

Mum used to call those hawk moth caterpillars ET.

Afternoon All,

It's turning out very sunny just now, but there were rain clouds overhead when we went out earlier, so I think it could be quite unsettled.

OH is off shortly to a match 50 miles away at Godmanchester. I might pop to what was the old mushroom farm about 3 miles away where, as a teenager, I would drive mum to buy the lovely fresh mushrooms that were picked while you waited in the sheds. It was sold a couple of years ago to partners that run a secondhand shop in the city and who also have a van and collect furniture you don't want etc. They collected MIL's old bed and dining suite when she had the special bed downstairs. They have now set the buildings up as a secondhand warehouse and are holding their first auction today. If it's packed out being the first and there's no parking I shall wait till they hold the next one. I want to see what sort of things they are selling as it may be a way to dispose of some of our stuff along with some of MIL's that's filling the garage.

Frank it's sensible to leave the lawns as you say so you can walk down to the festival. It looks like the weather will be ok so you should have a nice time and meet some folks you know.

I hope young Benjy isn't giving Jane and Thomas the run around, although Thomas seems to have found out how to beat him with body language and fixed stares. lol

It's good the indigestion has gone now Mel. Maybe it was just a slight tummy bug or something. I take half my beta blocker at night and find that can give me indigestion at times. I try to watch what I eat at tea time as things like cheese can make it worse. The half I take in the morning seems to be ok and I think that it because I only occasionally have breakfast. If anything I have brunch that is several hours after taking the tablet.

Better get cracking now and remember to take my camera, also a bottle of water to drink as I'm trying to get back in the habit again.

Afternoon All
It is really warm now and I have just put the fan on !! James,Jess and Benjy have gone to Rockingham Castle to a Kennel Club Agility thing. James was not keen to go and has gone under sufference LOL

I am really concerned about Thomas.I thought he didn't seem quite himself yesterday and to day he is worse. He is just lying ,not eating or drinking and looks very 'down'. I did say to Chris the other day that I thought he was feeling a bit boney as though he has lost weight. A month or so ago I took him to the vet as he had been scratching around his neck a lot, and the Vet did find that one of his Lymph nodes was slightly enlarged but could find nothing wrong. He said if i was worried to take him back for blood tests ,so it looks like I am going to have to do that. I don't really want to have to have an emergency appointment as it will cost a bomb but if he is no better tomorrow I think I will have to do that. I just hope he isn't in any pain. You can't tell with animals .

Lovely day so far the festival Frank. There could be a few showers later though.

Godmanchester Ann is where we got our first dog Dodger from. The big Animal Rescue Centre there .I couldn't stand to see so many lovely animals desperately needing new homes. Just the look in their eyes set me off ,I think much to Chris's embarrassment . You just want to give them all a home.

I bought Jess a pair of trousers as an early Birthday present. I just love them. They remind me a bit of the kind of thing I wore in the 60's. Not the style but the flowers.
Flower Power and all that Jazz :-D :-D
Jess loves them too .So I am quite chuffed I got it right :-D

Looking a bit cloudy now .I am not sure whether to put James's washing out or not. I think I will chance it.

Mel you must feel much relieved now the indigestion has gone. I don't often get that but sometimes get the Burps which seem to come from my boots !!. I will have one of those indigestion tabs then and it seems to work.
Were you being a bit of a Hussy last night with that KISS ? ;-) ;-)

Gillx Report 12 Aug 2017 15:16

Afternoon all

Finally home from MIL's. OH's sister is back off her holidays today, she lives with her mum so MIL won't be on her own. OH's eldest brother has unfortunately got an infection from the operation he had on his kidneys so is on antibiotics and his younger brother goes for his second dose of Chemo on Monday. I've just rang my mum and she told me she had a blood test that showed up a high level of potassium so she has to go for a scan on her kidneys as high potassium can effect the kidneys and also the heart, hope she's going to be okay.
All three of us are fine.

I'm just going to settle down and watch the last episode of Poldark, I recorded it while we were away, Sandra is catching up with her Hollyoaks and OH has gone to see his mate. You should see the dust in our bungalow, you can write your name in it, so that's a job for later and don't get me started on the state of the garden, weeds everywhere and the pot plants need a good watering, so that'll need sorting out tomorrow. The front garden needs sorting to, so plenty to keep us busy over the next week. We're also going to weed my mum's garden as soon as we have caught our breath.

I hope everyone is well, I've not had a chance to read any of the post yet. Just going to put a load of washing on, then have an hour's sit down before polishing and hoovering. I'll try and get back on here later or maybe tomorrow if I have some free time <3

Good to see you back Gill and to know that your mil is being cared for. I hope all goes well for your two Bil's. Did a lot o f gardening this morning while OH did the mowing, so have spent the afternoon sitting outside in the lovely sun, although it is pretty breezy! I think tomorrow should be good too,, but after that, wet and windy!
We're having poisson for supper, fried potatoes runners and carrots, cooked by OH, so should be good. Tomorrow roast lamb!

Jane Report 12 Aug 2017 16:16

Hello Gill
I bet it feels good to be back home again and to a bit of normality. How can you have so much dust if no-one has been there ????. I bet it is nothing like mine LOL

Hopefully the infection wil clear up for OH's other Brother, and that the second lot of Chemo goes well for his other Brother. Yes high potassium is not good for Heart /Kidneys. Maybe a change in Mum's diet can reduce the level .I hope it can be resolved. I think just having a few hours chilling out watching TV is just the ticket now for you. You can tackle the dust and the weeds tomorrow.

Fitz will be coming up shortly to take a load of tomatoes. We have far too many.I have just picked yet another massive bowl full.

Thomas has disappeared . Chris saw him go off under the hedge. I am now going to be worried sick until he comes back. I just wish I knew what is wrong with him.

Fitz is here BBL

Gillx Report 12 Aug 2017 17:11

Sorry to hear Thomas isn't very well, are you going to take him to the vet Jane? Like you said you just don't know with animals if they are in pain or not. Hope it's nothing serious.
I was wondering where all the dust had come from, but then realised I hadn't done the dusting before we went to stay with MIL, it's all done now, just the hoovering to do then sort out dinner.

It's brightened up here after a damp start to the day. I hope most of the clouds have gone by 11pm as there is supposed to be a meteor shower until 4am, so I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of it before I go to bed. I'm quite tired so won't be staying up until 4am though. Pity the moon is so bright at the moment, I hope it doesn't spoil the show.

Annx

Annx Report 12 Aug 2017 17:17

I bet it's good to be back in your own home for a while Gill. You can't quite relax the same in someone else's house. Yes, I bet I still have more dust too and cobwebs so I shouldn't rush to do too much....you need some rest to recharge your batteries. I hope your BIL's infection soon clears up and that the other BIL doesn't feel too unwell with the next chemo. You really have a lot going on in the family just now and now your own mum needs this high potassium sorting out which hopefully won't be a problem. It's good they are keeping an eye on her. I was hoping to see some of the meteor shower too, but there is a lot of cloud here at the moment so I doubt it will be visible here.

I wonder what's up with poor old Thomas? Maybe it is something he's eaten. Just when you want to be able to keep an eye on him he's decided to go off as well!! Hopefully he's not gone far and will soon want his home comforts. Maybe you could keep him in or in his crate when he comes back, just till the vet's seen him if he's no better. If you know what his usual weight is could you pop him on some scales to see if he's lost weight? It's not like him to be off his food, but to not be drinking either is rather worrying. :-S Does Fitz have a greenhouse? The tomatoes do tend to come in a glut once they get going. We have plenty at the moment, but the cue has given up the ghost now!

I went to where the sale was and cars were parked on every inch outside so I didn't stop! I think I will go on the viewing day next time and get there early!!

I wonder which kind of poisson Liz is having?

Jane

Jane Report 12 Aug 2017 17:38

Oh I had forgotten about the Meteor Shower Gill. I have a feeling it is going to be too cloudy though tonight to see anything.
I do remember many years ago though I took one of the sun loungers down on the lawn and lay on it for hours in the early hours hoping to see a good display . My old dog was with me and must have been very confused lol. I think I only saw about 2 .Thankfully it was a nice warm evening then. I won't be doing that tonight.

Fitz has been and gone with a huge bag of Tomatoes.

Thomas seems a little more alert and is sitting on the path down the garden. But still looking all hunched up. He is definitely not right. If I am still worried tomorrow Gill I will be ringing the Vet.

There is a bit of a feeding frenzy going on at the window feeder. All the new baby birds seem to be having a bit of a party :-D

What Poisson are you having tonight Liz?.. We are just having good old Meatballs and Spaghetti . James and Jess are out. They are going to Johnny's Mums for dinner.
I think they are out tomorrow to eat too so all good for me :-D :-D

Not Poisson, Jane but Poussin!! I must read through my posts!! We've put two strips of bacon on the breasts which should keep it moist.
Our sunflower which was 12 ft high with six blooms on it has just blown down!! The stem was rotten at the bottom. We've got another one which is about 10ft and hopefully ok!!
