O we were'nt expecting that Jane. Could it be because he is a hunter? Did she say it was high or low? I don't expect you will get a good nights sleep but hope you do. Have a couple of glasses of wine to help you nod off.

I shall be worrying now until we hear from you tomorrow. My thoughts are with you all. xx

Mandy so sad about your old friend but she had a good life. You will miss her. x

O o one walked off.............

Off to bed now, but I forgot to say earlier, Sandra had her SNOWMAN today and in August, she was so happy. I mentioned before that we had our first potatoes and there was one shaped just like a snowman. Sandra named it Frosty, bless her. We had a few to many for our meal so it wasn't used today. She said all it needed was a little scarf and a hat.....She's so funny :-D :-D

See you all tomorrow

Morning all

I think it rained in the night but not much by the looks of it. It's sunny at the moment so if it stays that way we may make a start on the screening. There is a slight breeze which shows up where we need to add a few extra screws on the plastic that went up yesterday, so OH is busy doing that then he's going to the shop to buy the right size screws for us to do the screening, I think we're going to need around 600 so we'll be busy for a while :-D Going to ring MIL later to see if her son managed to get to Chemo okay, his appointment was 9am.

I hope you managed to have a decent nights sleep Jane and Thomas is feeling a little better today after starting his antibiotics. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a speedy recovery. <3

How did the hogs get on last night Mel?

What is everyone up to today? I hope you all have the sun like me :-)

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Aug 2017 10:22

Morning Gill and all,

We have grey sky with a few breaks in it when the sun get through a bit but its dry at the moment.

Can't wait to hear from Jane to know how Thomas is this morning. I hope he had a good night and is a lot better this morning after being on the drip all night.

I want to do some more gardening today so I hope we don't get the rain that was forecast. They did say showers so we will see.

Frank

Frank Report 14 Aug 2017 10:26

Good morning Gill and all, Evening Kim,

Jane there were only six stalls at Blisworth house. Many, many more everywhere else.
Sorry to hear about Thomas, with all you tell us about him, he is part of the family. xxx lease let us know any news, I will be popping in and out during the day to see. xxx

Sad news from you then Mandy. !! How old was your friend ?? Whatever age she will surly be missed by all the friends and family.

So the HOGS are getting a bit RANDY Mel, I never know when Hogs mate, or when they have their babies.

Another iffy night last night, a lot of cramp in my right leg. Was awake at 5.00 am and up reading by 6.00. Come 9.00 I was feeling hungry so did myself Eggs, bacon, tomatoes, and fried potato's with two slices of toast and a third cot. Feel bloated now. Ros had her healthy Grapefruit.

Someone is out cutting the big hedge on the corner of the close. The row they are kicking up has given me a headache.

Gill, you and OH are so busy with looking after everybody's garden, and yours. "You will meet yourself coming back" Don't over do it, please.

Not sure when Anne is back either, apart from those two days last week of rain, I think she has been lucky weather wise.

Shower and shave time, then if the rain comes I will sit with my book.

Take care all, see you later.

Gillx Report 14 Aug 2017 10:57

Sorry to hear you had a bad night Frank. Have you got any Crampex it's really good? You might have to check and see if you can take it with your meds, but I'm sure a Pharmacist will be able to advice you. It's not nice when you can't get back off to sleep, hope you have a better night tonight.

So you're hoping to do some gardening then Mel? I hope the weather holds out for you.

We've decided not to bother with the screening today as there are a few black clouds around and once you start the job you can't stop half way through each panel and we don't fancy doing it in the rain, so we think it's best to wait until the weather is going to be good all day. I've got to go food shopping anyway, so while it's still dry OH is going to put the screws in place top and bottom of the framework ready for me to hang the screening onto when the weather is better.

Still no word from Jane, hope everything is okay <3

Frank Report 14 Aug 2017 14:31

Well no rain here yet. Ros has changed the bedding and it's all blowing on the line.

Carolyn has been round this morning wanting one of us to witness her signature on a load of papers. I let Ros do that. !!

I nearly had a heart attack this morning Tony was hacking at his lawn in the front with his mower. Then he got down on his knees and started pulling LONG GRASS from the gravel driveway. They say there is a first time for everything !!!! It didn't let long, I might add.

I hope that no news is good news about Thomas. I am sure Jane will keep us informed.

Wise move Gill. Nothing worse than working in the rain when you don't need too. Many years ago when we moved in here. Harvey came up with all the fencing and posts to do our back garden, as it only had three foot wire fencing, that had been put there by the builders in the 60s. That day was the start of the local floods. We carted all the materials to the back garden. Both soaked through to the skin, when he informed me he had to go to Billing (building site) to lay two lawns. I said I will come and help. The turf was in a compound on pallets. The fork lift driver put them on the two gardens and we started. They were on a slope, so the water was just running down the earth, we slipped and slid until the turf was in some sort of order, and drove home. We stripped off and he went in the shower and had dry cloths in his truck. I went in behind him and got showered. Fortunately when it came to putting up the fence it was dry. (some weeks later) I think this happened in the Spring of 1996/7 I'm sure Jane would remember that.

I have a steak Diane for Ros tonight, with new potato's Runners Peas and carrots, and I'm having a cumberland pie. Nice and easy with little washing up.

I'm going into the conservatory now with my book.

Afternoon All,

Sorry to hear about your friend Mandy. It's sad how we keep losing our friends as we get older, but if she was in pain it sounds as if it was best for her. Will you be going to her funeral?

Poor old Thomas, it's good you got him to the vet Jane and that they have found out the reason he wasn't well. Hopefully today you will get to know the cause and what's to be done for him and he will be back to himself again with some treatment.

Good thinking to hold off doing the fence Gill. It's miserable working in the rain. My word that's a fair few screws you need!! I hope your BIL managed to get his chemo done at the other hospital.

Oh Frank....fancy Tony doing some 'work' in the garden!! Next thing he will be offering to do yours.....NOT!! lol.

The rain cleared away after breakfast today and its been quite nice, so I've been doing a bit of gardening and having a general tidy up outside. OH has been sorting out the barn as he has quite a few things to put on line to sell; Were now having a COT!
The spare filter for my rechargeable Dyson came today, I only ordered it late Friday, so that's good. Apart from that nothing interesting at all from here!

Jane

Jane Report 14 Aug 2017 16:05

Here I am :-D.. I have just been to pick up Thomas. He has no treatment to give (thank heavens) but I am to keep him in until he goes for a check up on Friday. He is not going ot be impressed with that but at least I still have the cat harness I used when he had his big op last year . So we have a bit of a wander . He is now sitting looking at the back door waiting ot be let out lol. He will have a long wait.
He is looking brighter and I saw him grooming himself which is always a good sign.
The Potassium level had come down but still sligthly raised. So it is just a matter of keeping an eye on him for now. Thank you all for your concern. Worry over for now :-D :-D

It sounds as though your elderly neighbour went peacefully Mandy and thankfully for her daughter it wasn't too long her her waiting for the inevitable. That is always such a hard time.

I can hear a lot of miaowing .I think I will take him for another quick turn around the garden just in case it rains soon.

Frank

Frank Report 14 Aug 2017 16:09

Thats why I have popped in Mel, any news Jane ?? xxx

Coming over very dark here. Ros have got her Whites dried, now has a coloureds wash on the line. She is gardening again, so will know if it starts to rain. (she will get wet) LOL LOL.

I am still reading, but my eyes want to shut, so have given it a rest. If I drop off now, I won't sleep tonight.

Ann, thats the trouble of getting old. We often hear of people we know/knew passing away. A friend round the corner put his Union Jack at half masted with a note on the FLAG POLE, when anyone passes away. (MORBED BEGGER) .I learnt something today. If (God forbid) Ros and I had separate wills and different beneficiaries and both got killed. Her will would take president over mine as she is YOUNGER. Why should that be,?? But as we have a joint will it won't matter.
Another thing learnt today LOL LOL.

Back to my book, see you later.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Aug 2017 16:33

Thats interesting Frank. Its funny how ever old we get we still learn something new.

I have just spoken to Jnae o n the phone. She told me she had just posted. When I first rang it was engaged so I thought it would be a while and made the batter for tonights toad then rang again.

Its so good to know he is back home and has a check up on Friday. He dos'nt know it yet but he is also getting his booster! :-S :-0

Rain is really steady and falling straight down as there's no wind.

I emptied out my pot of potatoes yesterday. They were some Jersey Royals I found in the veg bag that had started to shoot so I bunged them in the pot. We have a small bowl full and more than if I had thrown them away so that must be a bonus.

Frank

Frank Report 14 Aug 2017 17:08

GREAT NEWS JANE, I am shouting that out. Lets hope Friday will give him the all clear. cuddles from me please xxx (FOR THE CAT NOT YOU ) LOL LOL

Mel, the same thing happened to me with shooting potatoes. I still have them to dig from my patch. Perhaps I will get a root tomorrow. I still have one bag to empty also. The compost from the bags are going on the front garden. Ros has made it look nice with all the dark soil.

I'm glad the rain is coming down, how strange it would be if it went UP LOL LOL.

Have just checked on HMCR about the Married Woman's tax allowance. It automaticaly gets transferred every year, so no need to worry about that anymore.

Weather still can't make up it's mind what to do. Horrible afternoon now. !!

Gillx

Gillx Report 14 Aug 2017 17:25

Pleased to hear Thomas's potassium levels have dropped a bit Jane. It does sound like he's feeling a bit better if he wants to go out and he's grooming himself. Fingers crossed for Friday now.

So Tony has been doing some work, I bet that was a shock to see Frank? Best not to sleep during the day if you can help it or like you said you won't sleep properly tonight. Mind you sometimes you just nod off without realising it don't you?

The filter arriving was quick Liz, it's nice when you don't have to wait for ages for things to turn up. So you're all tidy in your garden, it does make you feel good when it's all spick and span.

We had our first lot of potatoes yesterday Mel, they were really nice. We're having some more tonight. The one that looked like a SNOWMAN has been peeled and chopped up ready for tonight's dinner. I normally plant the potatoes that have shoots on them but decided to buy some this year to plant out instead. I also put mine in pots.

It didn't rain after all today, but still looks like it might, so I'm glad I didn't bother with the screening as knowing my luck as soon as I started I'd be half way through and the heavens would have opened. All the top screws are in place so we're ready when the weather brightened up. I did water my pot plants though and noticed that a fern I have has really grown. With moving the plants out of the way while we have been doing the screening I've not been able to see it for a while so I was quite surprised at how big it had got. I think it's an evergreen one so when I make the new border it'll be going in there.

I'll have to go winter plants shopping in a few months otherwise our garden is going to look pretty bare as most of the plants we have, apart from the evergreen ones, are deciduous. That's the fun of having a pot garden you can change the borders whenever you like without having to do any digging and it feels like a new garden each time I do it :-D

Going to get a cuppa now and finish watching Gardeners World I recorded a couple of weeks ago, then I won't have as many to catch up with.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 14 Aug 2017 17:43

Gill watch this last weeks Gardeners World as the man on there was talking about Heucheras. I have quite a lot of them and they are evergreen or red or rusty or burgandy and they flower too.

Frank Report 15 Aug 2017 09:45

Morning Lazy bones, Evening Kim,

Up at 5.50 am this morning, but I was in bed by 9.45 last night. Only got out once. Woke at 5.30 and felt wide awake. Had my COT (3) and weetabix for breakfast. Have been reading my book all morning.

Simon rang, he and Sally are calling over tomorrow evening. Then he is taking her out for a birthday dinner. He want's more Apples, as Sally made Apple crumble with the last lot. He said they were the best apples he's ever tasted. I said I would pick them for him. He insisted I leave them, and he will pick them when he comes over.

It's a beautiful morning here, but would you believe, we have just had a shower. The conservatory windows are wet.

Hows our Thomas today Jane ?? Hope he didn't give you a bad night, wanting to go out. !!

Any news on the hogs Mel, ? When do they mate, and the babies born ??

Madam will be out with Carolyn today. I have made a list of things I want so she won't forget those. I expect if the garden centre has ant "reduced" plants they or some will be coming home with her.

Shin of beef tonight, with mash and veg. I might even make an apple crumble.

Nice quiet day for me, after my shower and shave. What are the rest of you up to. I expect Gill will be in the garden putting up that screening, if it's dry.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 15 Aug 2017 10:01

Morning Frank and all,

Its a nice day here too with blue sky and big white clouds. We may get a shower or two later but will enjoy this while it lasts.

Donkey day today and I am thinking I may go into NOrtham to see if I can get a new fishermans smock for the garden as I find them very usefull with their front pockets for string, knives and scissors etc. They also are strong cotton and don't stick to all the prickly plants or get pulled like a jumper or sweatshirt. I like the V neck ones and only in navy really although mum did buy me a multi coloured on in Bideford for Christmas once but it has'nt lasted as long as the one oh bought me at the Cornwall show 20 years ago. Its not quite the same material and my hair clip has worn the collar through where it rubs.

Hope Thomas is more like his usual self this morning and is responding to all the loving treatment I know he will be getting from Jane. Sending love. <3 <3
