Afternoon All
Our security light at the front is often coming on and off,and it is the 'steam' ? from the vent from the boiler in the garage. It took me ages to work out what was causing it lol
Ann, I think you are right and I must stop disposing of Bunnies across the road. Usually it would be a rat and I don't think Thomas would be after a dead one of those. He might catch them but doesn't eat them.He just leaves them on the Patio :-S
I have the Vets with him in the morning so must make sure James doesn't let him out when he gets up.The appointment is at 9.30.I have just remembered to get his Vaccination book out ready to take. I wonder if these tablets I am taking might have had an effect on my Cholesterol as I know it can do. But never having had my Cholesterol tested before I don't really know. I am going to have to start taking them every other day I think as I am getting side effects. The worst is the stiffness and pain in my hips which is making walking without looking like a duck really hard. Dry lips ,mouth, flaking skin .It's all going on :-S :-S The Dermatologist did say if i was finding I was suffering a bit just to try taking them every other day. The tablets are called Acetetrin .
So Frank and Ros are back down on the coast again.Lucky them. Do we know how long for? I was singing to myself just now 'Oh I do love to be beside the Seaside' :-D I hope the sun has come out for Mandy and the children at the Seaside today. I have a feeling it might have been a bit cloudy this morning though. We must have a fair old bit of rain in the night and maybe some wind too as a couple of branches have snapped off a tree.Another branch that I had a Birds Peanut Butter jar hanging on was right down to my waist level !! So Chris has been lopping off the dodgy looking branches.
I must remember to book some tickets for Fitz and me to visit Boughton House. I have been there many times before but just the gardens . Ann I think you visited the gardens earlier this year. All the years I have lived here I have never been in the house !. Chris doesn't want to go but Fitz is interested :-)
Mel I am glad scruffy Robin is getting his plumage back again. He did look a sorry state . I bet you have lots of conversations with your Alexia LOLOL.. I think it might annoy me a bit if it kept butting in to conversations :-D :-D
I must go and fill the window feeder up. I have just noticed it is completely empty.

Evening all,
Lovely sunshine here now but this morning it was pouring down so we didn't venture to the coast today . :-(
Colin's brother come to have a coffee and he mended our dripping bathroom basin tap , handy having a brother who was a plumber .
Hope Frank and Ros arrived ok with no hold ups on the way ,i bet he's had a nice walk along the front and will no doubt pay a visit to The Winking Prawn .
Glad you got the light problem sorted out in the end Ann , it's so annoying when the light keeps coming on like that .
Oh the little minx that Thomas is ,i wouldn't put any more dead things over the road Jane he's probably been watching you dispose of them and then going over to see where you've dumped them . I'm sure if you just adjust your diet a little your cholesterol will soon go down a bit and as you say it could be the new tablets your on which is raising it too. I hope Thomas gets on ok tomorrow at the vets .
Well we saved money today ,Colin had lost the two buttons on his key fob for the car ,looking on line a new fob is about £100 !! and then you would have to take it to the garage to have it set up on the computer so son looked at it and took the front bit off replaced it with a new one he bought on line for £1.62 yes i did say £1.62 ,he just used the front bit with the buttons on and didn't have to touch the bit of the key with the battery in ...job done :-D

Gosh Mandy that makes a lot of difference to the pocket. What a price £100 just for a key and all the annoyance of getting it set up at a garage. Good son making it better for £1.62.
I have been pottering in the shed and having a tidy in the uti room today. Why is it I always want to start these things later in the day? I had'nt anything out for dinner so we are having bacon and brie sandwiches with fruit and icecream to follow. Nice and easy andnot much washing up either.

That was a great saving Mandy and good your son found a way to sort it for Colin. Can you just buy a part of the fob with the buttons on then for it to be only £1.62 instead of over £100? That's handy having a plumber rellie!! Shame you didn't get to the sea today, but the rain would have spoiled it if you'd gone. I'd forgotten about the 'WINKING PRAWN', but you are right, Frank will no doubt be popping in there!! :-)
It sounds a good idea to try taking the tablets every other day Jane and it might be a reason for your cholesterol being up. They don't sound like much fun anyway with those side effects. I think if I took anything now that caused stiffness I would seize up completely. :-S
We had some drama in the close about half an hour ago. OH went out to put a mackerel tin in the bin and shouted that there was a fire!! I went out and thick black smoke was pouring from behind a bungalow 3-4 doors along the close and the other side to us. I was quickly debating whether to go and put shoes on and see if we could help etc, but there was the most awful roaring noise I have ever heard with a fire. I said to OH that it reminded me of dad's oxy-acetylene kit only much louder. It made me wonder if it was a gas barbeque out of control and whether we should be heading up the garden instead!! Next thing after only 5 minutes the fire engine arrived and a few hunky firemen poured out (are you listening Mel? :-D) and disappeared down the drives of 2 bungalows. Flames were above the roof by now and 2 tallish conifers had started to sizzle. It was quickly brought under control though, but the fire engine is still there.
I hope Gill is ok today. OH seemed to get the same as I had yesterday and said his headache felt like he had shivers down his head one side like the nerves were affected. He is fine again today though. We were out pruning the shrubs this afternoon and there are 4 more black sacks full so he's off to the tip with them in the morning.

No Ann the fob was the whole thing if you know what i mean, it had the main bit of the key that you have cut and even had a battery in it too which was good as Colin had been using the key in the lock so he hadn't used the battery that was in there .
Oh all going on near you then Ann with the fire ,you never know with these BBQ's if they are the gas ones and theres a gas bottle that could blow !! I hope no one was hurt .

Wow Mandy £1.62 instead of £100 !!!!! It just shows how much you can save by having a look on line. That was a brilliant saving. Shame you didn't get to the coast today. I thought it would have been ok for you.
So it is all kicking off in the close tonight then Ann !. I wonder what started the fire. Do you think they might have had a bonfire that got out of control? The flames sounded really quite fierce :-0 :-0
I am off to bed now. Thomas is in so I can go :-) I just had a peek out the back door and it is just starting to rain. Not a lot at the moment though.
I love the name the Winking Prawn LOL Hope Frank will have a lovely meal there again.

All go in the close then Ann. You will have to let us know what happened when you find out please. Oh said it sounded like a garden shed.
He has just come in from outside and said "its snowing out there" so it must be raining.
Dreadful thing in Barcelona, 13 killed and 80 injured.

Evening all
Been in the garden doing the screening today and have manage to do half of it. I need to make a new border to join two borders together so I can move the large plants there, that will clear the space for me to finish off the screening.
Poor OH has had a difficult day thinking about his brother today. To be honest I think he is handling it very well, but does have the odd day where he struggles, which is understandable. I gave him a hug, he's not one for talking much, but I think the hug helped. I just don't know what to say or do for the best sometimes, except be there for him. He's okay now. He helped me a bit with the screening, just lifting it up for me to attach to the top of the framework, but the rest of the time he was just sitting on the garden bench quietly in thought. I remembered what Frank said about men liking to be on their own, so I just gave him some space and let him know I was there if he needed it. His brother came out of hospital last night, so he can go away with his family now before his next bout of Chemo.
I haven't had a chance to catch up with any posts, so hope everyone is okay.
I'm off to bed now, it's been a long day and I'm shattered.

I was just signing out when I noticed your post Ann, sorry to hear about the fire in the Close, I hope no one was hurt, it must of been quite a shock when your OH noticed it.
Yes, I'm feeling much better today Ann, it seemed to go as quickly as it came.....very strange as I was convinced it was the start of a flu bug. Never mind I'm not complaining, I don't like flu
Signing out now, see you all tomorrow.

Morning all,
Nice morning here today bright with sunshine blue and white sky and a bit of a breeze.
I forgot to put the washing machine on last night and it was all ready to go but it slipped my mind completely so its on this morning. I hope the sunshine has'nt gone by the time its ready to go on the line. That reminds me I need to clean the line.
This morning and last night I have been looking for two pairs of my jog bottoms I wear everyday around the house and garden. I SHOULD have three pairs, a lightish blue, a navy and a mink coloured pair. Do you think I can find them?? Only the light blue ones I took off yesterday which are in the wash. I have hunted high and low and they are nowhere to be seen. I am even up with the ironing so they are not in the linen basket and the dirty washing basket is nearly empty too.

Afternoon Mel, afternoon all
It's sunny here but we've had a few small showers, it went really dark about an hour ago but thankfully no rain. OH is taking all the grass up where we are putting the new border so there's nothing I can do until he's finished and the ground is level for us to put the pot plants on. The plants we are putting there are in the way at the moment for me to carry on with the screening so I thought I'd come in and watch a bit of TV while I wait for OH to finish the grass.
What a shame you forgot to put your washing machine on last night Mel and now it's raining. I hope the rain stops so you can peg your washing out.
I've just been watching the news, isn't it terrible what has happened in Spain. It seems nowhere is safe anymore.
Hope all went well for Thomas at the vets this morning Jane.
£1.62 is a great price, much better than £100 and all the fuss of getting it sorted at the garage Mandy. What a pity it rained and you never got to the coast in the end. Let's hope the weather improves then you can all go and enjoy yourselves.
Hope Frank and Ros are having a nice time away and it's not raining to much for them.

Afternoon all,
Nice and bright here now but we had a heavy shower middle of the morning it was just as we got to the tip and had got out of the car so we hopped back in while it came down . Colin has been having a good clear out in his shed ,he's found all sorts ,he didn't realise he had so much stuff in there ,we've already taken one lot this week ,he'll be able to have a dance in there by the time he's finished .
What a shame you coudn't get your washing out in time to get it dry before the rain came Mel ,i hope it clears this afternoon for you to get it out . I wonder were your jogging bottoms have gone ,could you have put them away in OH's drawers when you put his things away ,i'm always putting my things in with Colin's stuff
So still busy in the garden then Gill ,i hope it stays dry for OH to get the grass up .

OH's just finished taking the grass up and now it's raining......talk about good timing ;-) There was such a bang of thunder too, but luckily no lightening He now has to take all the rubbish to the tip.
So Colin's had a good clear out. Don't forget the photo when he starts dancing in the shed Mandy LOL :-D :-D I don't blame you for sitting in your car at the tip until the rain stopped. The sun has just come back out, but there's still a lot of black clouds around, so OH will be dodging the rain at the tip too, by the looks of it. We won't be moving any of the pot plants today as the ground is to wet now.

I do hope your oh is not dogging Gill.!!!!
Yes washing went out and came back in again after it got so dark in here I had to turn the light on then another heavy shower wetter than it came out of the machine so now its in the uti room in disgust. Since then I did a load of ironing and out came the sun while I was doing that. We had lunch and then another smaller shower. Poor oh was tryig to do something outside and had to keep coming back in with the hump.
Sounds like you are getitng there Gill with the garden. I can't believe its Friday again. I know I keep saying it but the weeks seem to be rushing by for me lately.
Mandy will you be dancing in the shed with Colin?Perhaps Max will join in too. Has he been a good boy lately?

I've just corrected my mistake, it did make me laugh when you mentioned it Mel :-D :-D :-D :-D
Isn't that a nuisance when you want to get your washing dry and the weather has other ideas. Hope it dries soon for you. I was thinking the same as you Mel this morning about how the weeks, months, are going by quickly this year. It'll be Christmas before we know it
The sun has stayed out here since the clap of thunder and the downpour so OH might not have to dodge the rain after all. Just watching "Craft It Yourself" I recorded, with Sandra. I managed to pot up a plant OH dug up by mistake which was right by the grass while it was dry, I did mention it to him and asked him to be careful, but he must of had his ears switched off when I said it. ;-) Never mind I was going to put it in a pot anyway, so now it's all done.

We've still got sunshine and then heavy showers. It feeling more like April than August aand the winds very gusty and strong too.
I want to go and clean the chickens out but not sure if I am going to manage it between showers and then there's the wind to think about with the shavings blowing in my face! :-0

Did you manage to clean the chickens out in the end Mel? That's the problem with the wind it blows everything everywhere. Maybe you could put some glasses on to protect your eyes.
They say it's going to get even windier over the next few days, something to do with a hurricane from America, although we won't get hurricane weather the wind will still be around, at least it will be warm, or so they say.
It's going to make putting my screening up a bit awkward. So long as the rain keeps away we can't really complain can we? :-)
The one thing I have noticed this year, the weather isn't as good as it was last year, we had so much sun and hardly any wind, pity it's not like that now.

Afternoon Everyone
LOL I wa just loooking for the ;dogging' comment but see you have deleted it Gill :-D :-D Easy mistake to make :-D
Have you found your doggers ooops I meant joggers Mel ;-) :-D :-D. It is weird how things can just vanish like that.
So a nice clean shed at yours Mandy. I bet OH feels good for clearing out all that stuff. It is just looking so black here now over the way.Not sure if we might be in for something . It has been a really nice day other than a few heavy sharp showers this afternoon. I haven't bothered putting out the washing so it is sitting in the basket ready to go out tomorrow . I may put a few bits in the drier but James hates his shirts and socks going in there. Especially his socks as he says I always manage to shrink them.
Thomas had his check up and booster this morning and was as good as gold. I thought at 8am I would ring to see if I could go earlier than 9.30 as Thomas was mithering to go out. Luckily I was able to get the 8.30 appointment but it meant I had to leap out of bed wash my face and throw some clothes on and then off. I got there dead on 8.30 :-D The waiting room was full of HUGE dogs. A Rottie,3 big Labs and another large dog. No other cats. I took my insurance form all filled in and just paid the excess which was £100! I thought it was 60. But after the big op last year it has obviously gone up. I asked what the cost was of Thomas's treatment and overnight stay last week and it was £305.
I see dear old Bruce Forcyth has passed away aged 89. I was only thinking yesterday that we haven't heard anything about him for a long time. He is going to be greatly missed :-(
Ann, did you find out what caused the fire last night?
