Frank Report 22 Aug 2017 17:33

Just had a visit from John and Carolyn. He bought his new toy round to show us. A F type JAGUAR, five litre supercharged V 8. 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds top speed 200 mph. cost £100,000.00. That goes with the BMW Z4 his other toy. His Range Rover top of the range costing 108,000.00 plus Carolyn's Range Rover £50,000.00 not sure how much the BMW is worth. but there is a quarter of a million without the B MW. She will buy out of date bread and reduced items to save a few coppers. !! Where are we going wrong.?? He also has a house in Tenerife, an apartment overlooking the sea in Hastings, plus his Massive house in Blisworth, with a two bedroom cottage on the site that he lets out.

Still very warm outside even though it's still overcast and very still. Temps around 16/18 degrees tonight, so top of the bed for me. !!!

I should have had my injection last Friday, so have made another appointment for 29th at 4.10 pm. It's on the calendar , so I won't forget.

It's been very quiet on here today, what have you all been up to ???

Jane Report 22 Aug 2017 18:11

Frank, he likes his Boy toys doesn't he. How many cars can you drive at one time ??
My ex Brother in law has many of these ridiculously expensive cars.Money spent on them whe nhe could be helping out his children. It is all for show. And I always think that no-one is impressed .They just think he is a ****** trying to think of a word I can print that won't offend. But I think you will know what I mean :-D :-D I hate show offs.

I think it is going to be another sticky night tonight . I might take the fan up to bed.
Can't move into Hannahs bed as I have just made it up for her and Gareth, and i am not going to do all the changing of the bed again.

Afternoon All,

Dull and very humid here. I took a top back to Nuneaton this morning and queueing at the till I felt drips running down the sides of my face I was so hot. Two other ladies in the queue were saying how hot it was in there.........mind you they had thick cardis on!! I had to mop my face with a tissue when I got outside.

You cheeky monkey Frank!! lol. Steamboats indeed..........actually I quite fancy a ride on a paddle steamer. :-) That's a shame you didn't get to see Lewis, but good for him he is earning some dosh and well done for passing his English exam. I'm still waiting to see an up to date photo of him..........I bet he's a handsome lad now. :-) I hope you enjoy your breakfast with Simon and Sally tomorrow. It sounds like Simon may be a chip off the old block after hearing some of your breakfast feasts you put away! ;-) lol.

Your comment about being 'all behind' reminded me of the old joke about the butcher and bacon slicer Mel. He had an accident sitting on it and everyone got a little behind with their orders. Our roads are teeming with harvesting contraptions just now too. As you say they take up all the road and don't they go fast nowadays.

OH certainly got cracking while I was out. He took his new loppers over the back fence and has cut back the undergrowth/brambles properly so we can see the field again and weeded all the back garden, also mended the back fence where some planks have come off. He then came in and pulled the bed forward and hoovered all under and behind it, Then he cleaned the bath and the tiles above the bath. It might be because I sounded fed up with all the things I need to do before we go away as he doesn't usually notice what wants doing! I was very pleased with him anyway. :-D

I got OH to find my old crooklock thing in the garage. I used to use it till I had a car with an alarm and decided it would be sensible to use it as an additional deterrent on my current car, especially when we are away. Well he found it, but the mice had chewed the thick plastic covering off the end of the long bar that wedges under the steering wheel. The rest of the plasticky stuff that covers the length of the bar had gone all sticky, you couldn't wash it off, and you could push your thumb nail right into it, so it has gone in the bin now and I need to buy another!

That's a great photo of your dad in his uniform Frank and I can see a likeness there.

Well done Hannah! All her hard work has paid off and you will enjoy a few celebration glasses to mark the occasion as you say. What will she do now do you think........will America be beckoning? It does sound as if you have a lot on for a while Jane.

I meant to say Mel that the Labradorite is grey, but as you suggest, the flashes that catch the light on this particular stone are pale blue. The original one I was buying had more of a turquoise flash and more of it, but when the seller came to pack it she found a chip on the back, so sent me this one instead.

Many congratulations to Hannah Jane you must be bursting with pride at her success. She's worked so hard and diligently and thoroughly deserves her triumph! :-D
I'm afraid I'm with Jane over the boys toys Frank. There's so much poverty and sorrow in the world that excessive possessions don't sit well with or impress me! I too hate show offs - sorry!
I'm driving again!! Today I went to have my hair cut on my own! and THEN a trip to Waitrose! It's all happening here!

O well done Liz, mobile again on your own. Makes you feel good dos'nt it.

Frank you are so like your father. I had opened the email and not look at what you had written and thought it was you at first. The holiday photos are great and Ros looks younger each time you send us a pic of her. You both looked very relaxed and happy to just be together, all of you.

Congratulation to Dr. Rose what a clever girlto work so hard and reach her goal. Well done. <3 I bet Chris was ginning from ear to ear when he heard.

Ann I think I had put that joke up on the thread a long while ago. It goes.

Notice on the bacon counter.

Will people please refrain from leaning on the bacon slicer as we are getting a little behind in our orders.

Di called in thiss morning and I went shopping quite late. I did'nt get in till 5.30pm. Oh was nattering to Phil next door so I unloaded the car myself put it all away and he came down and made me a drink and we had a naughty cake with it. Ready meals for both of us tonight his usual curry and I had a mac cheese.

Its been a lovely sunny day here all day with a good breeze. Washing dried enough to iron and thats put in the uti room for tomorrow. changed the bed before I went out and only left three pillow cases to be put on which is all done now. So nice clean fresh bed tonight and I have had the window open all day.

Annx

Annx Report 22 Aug 2017 22:35

I didn't get Frank's holiday pics, just the one of his dad .........could you send it on to me please Mel.

I must have forgotten you putting the joke on the thread. It's one that OH used to say right from when I met him!

I have left washing out overnight and will be putting the bedding in the wash in the morning. There's nothing like a nice fresh bed as you say!

Morning all,

Nothing like yesterday here as we have grey sky but its dry and thats the main thing.

Spare bed bedding is in the washer today so I hope it stays dry so I can put it on the line.

Hope you are all ok this morning and slept better last night. No Gill yesterday hope everything is alright with the family and sending love.

Annx Report 23 Aug 2017 11:32

Morning All,

Very dull here so I hope the washing I left out dries ok. The bedding is in the wash now.

Thanks for forwarding the pics from Frank Mel. I agree Ros does look young and I love the outfit and colours she is wearing.....my sort of colours and outfit! :-) Frank looks young and good too and he does look like his dad!

Well my multi tasking while I can (as OH is out at a meeting!) has gone a bit wrong this morning!! I put a face pack on first thing while I changed the bed. Then I laid out the veg to prepare for lunch and set up my sewing machine ready to turn up a few pairs of trousers. I whipped around the porch and bathroom with my stick hoover, put it to charge, and then went to wash off the face pack which was fully dry. OMG my face had had a reaction and as I was washing it off, the normal 'glow' the instructions described turned into a burning sensation! I looked in the mirror and I looked as if I'd got my face too close to the gas hob!! The burning was getting worse and worse ( I was thinking where will it end!) and I used some tea tree soap to make sure I'd got it all off. Feeling a bit of panic as it was getting hotter and redder all the time I went in the bathroom and lifted the showerhead down and sprayed my face for a few minutes with it on the coldest setting. It helped, but each time I stopped the burning heat was coming back again so I carried on spraying my face for about 10 minutes in all. At least by then the heat had stopped building. I was shaking like a leaf and decided to take an antihistamine in case it would help. I feel ok again now apart from my hot red face but have soaked all my front with the shower so need to go and change. Then back to my chores!!

The funny thing was I was reading a new book I got yesterday called 'The Organised Mind'. I haven't read much yet but it was saying how the most successful be they artists, athletes, business people etc maximise their efficiency, creativity by organising their lives so they spend less time on the mundane and more time on the more inspiring, rewarding things in life. The rest of the book seems to explain how our brains have evolved and not as quickly as modern life and how we can understand and best use them. So, full of enthusiasm this morning, I decided to get more organised and free up more time to do the things I want to do..............but am now further behind than ever!! lol. I think a COT is called for. In case anyone wonders, it was a marine clay face mask. I have googled and it seems I am not alone!

Frank Report 23 Aug 2017 11:43

Morning to you all,evening Kim,

Just after midnight we had a tremendous thunder storm. It crashed and banged and put the leech out for a few minutes, wrought to set the bedroom clock flashing, Ros turned it to the wall'

Congratulations to Dr Hannah Rose. Will she continue to work where she is, or has she got other plans ??

I started this post just after 9.00 but had to dash off to meet S & S. She bought two of her grandchildren and a niece. All lovely children. The little boy aged two, sat and ate a child's breakfast of Egg, sausage rasher of bacon b.beans and a slice of buttered toast. He then went on to eat another sausage and Egg from Ros. Him and Simon are almost inseparable , Simon loves him to bits. I think not having children of his own has made him like this. The same with Conrad and Ella. We all had a normal breakfast apart from Simon who had to have the LARGE ONE. Double everything and he cleared it before I finished mine.

Not a very pleasant day here, miserly sort of morning. Roa is off out with Carolyn soon, I will settle down with my book.

I had a good night last night, and could have stayed in bed for a bit longer. !!

We have the tractors tearing up and down the high street here Mel. I know how busy the farmers must be, but if the police had a speed trap out. They would all be done for speeding. Plus the trailers seem to stick out across the road, without any thought for other traffic.

I agree with you Liz and Jane. I makes me sick to see the way he flaunts his money around. Who needs A BMW, Jaguar, and R.Rover at one time. He has had the BMW for two years and has only driven 3,000 miles So I don't expect the Jag will do any more. You can only drive one car at a time, and as he hardly every goes out, WHAT A WASTE :-( :-( :-(

Will have to sort something out for dinner tonight, not that I fancy anything at the moment.
We took a big bag of Apples for Simon and a bag of tomato's. I didn't dare to try to pick beans, in case I went through the greenhouse again ;-) ;-)

Your breakfast sounds a great success Frank, it's so good that you've found your son again it must make you feel a million dollars!
We had some friends when we lived in Somerset who, from the sound of it were very like yours! They were lovely people but EVERYTHING was top of the range, from both the vehicles to the ride on mower to the Aga to the crockery, to the cutlery, just everything was top quality! Even the new electric clippers for the garden were, we understood, of the best quality!! As I said they were lovely, but apart from making us feel totally inadequate, it was excruciatingly boring!!! Now we've moved we don't see much of them anymore which is a sort of relief!!
Not a brilliant morning here, very windy and cloudy. More deadheading and weeding helped by Cas and her wretched ring!!

Good afternoon all

In the last few days I have lost a couple of posts so decided to give it a rest for a while.

I haven't read many of the posts but did see Jane now has another doctor in the family, congratulations to Hannah.

Good to see Frank and Ros are safely back home and had an enjoyable breakfast with Simon and his family'

I have been able to see the emails, Ann you are such a good artist and the boots must have been more of a challenge than Fruit in a bowl to paint.

Jane the jewellery looks very pretty, did they match with the other things you are planning to wear at the wedding?.

Loved the photo of Cas wanting a game Liz, bless her

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 23 Aug 2017 15:19

YOu sound like you really enjoyed that breakfast this morning Frank and is'nt it good to see children eating well when so many nowadays pick at their food. Little George next door eats just about everything and you can't seem to fill him up whereas his brother is a different kettle of fish. Will only eat green sweets and NO chocolate. Will eat the crispy bit off the edge of a yorkshire. Will eat bacon as long as Em cuts all the fat off and the loin into strips. Will eat a sausage roll but soemtimes leaves the sausage and other times leaves the pastry!! He will only eat peas and carrots but likes roast beef. His grandfather our friend Phil will only eat peas and no other veg at all apart from spuds.

As to the farmers rushing throug the village you can understand it when they have the harvest to get in in this weather we are having at the moment as the rain can spoil a crop just like that and the wind can flatten it so it can't be gathered in.

Ann that sounds awful about the face pack. I should complain to the manafacturers if I were you. What an experience. I would'nt have known what to do if it had happened to me. There again I have to be careful of perfumed things etc with this CSS.

Iv'e just thought of something!! Do you remember those transfers that you cut out and soaked in a sauser of cold water and they curled up? you could then slide them onto paper. I seem to remember fish and flowers and all sorts of things. In the late 60's I had some you could put on glass jars. and a Holly Hobit doll picture. You could put then on lampshades and all sorts.

Frank Report 23 Aug 2017 15:56

Just had forty winks, which I might regret tonight, but my eyes wouldn't stay open. !!!!

Nice to see you back Anne, I trust everything is well in the family and our not so little RUBY xxx

Ann, I would certainly get in touch with the manufactures over that FACE PACK. Gawn knows what damage it could have done ,had you not taken action, as you did. I am pleased to say I have never used one LOL LOL.

We had a phone call from Simon, saying how nice it was that we meet up for breakfast this morning. He did mention that he was taking the Narrow Boat out for two weeks, next week. He want's us to meet up with him on the canal system one day to see the boat and have a meal with them. He is doing the Leicester/Warwickshire area, so shouldn't be to difficult for us to drive to meet them. He will phone with the post code where they will be stopping, so that will help.

You won't believe it, but we have almost got a summers day here. Sunshine, blue sky's and white fluffy clouds. Hope it will dry the lawns, as they need another cut. I think we should think about this ASTRO TURF. Look at the hard work that would save, but there again I do enjoy seeing my lawns after they are cut. All those straight lines. !!!

Mel, I think we have been lucky with our children both Ros's and mine. They always ate what was put in front of them, the same with Lewis and my grandsons when I use to see them.

Talking to Simon this morning I asked if he saw his Sister NO nor his Mother. They had a big fall out over something which I didn't ask about. So i t doesn't seem I and going to see her or the grandchildren anytime soon. The boys are well in there 20s/30s now, and I believe married with children. Who knows that might decide to find out who their Granddad is sometime in the future.

Glad you are MOBILE again Liz, but please take extra care when you are out walking, we don't want you doing a Frank LOL LOL.

Back to my book, and a COT.

Jane

Jane Report 23 Aug 2017 17:16

Afternoon All

Frank, it must feel so nice now that you and Simon are seeing each other and enjoying eachothers company again :-D. That will be nice to go and meet up somewhere on the canal when they take the Narrow Boat out again. It must be nice just to take off on the river like that . Shame that your Daughter and Simon are no longer in touch. Maybe one day :-D You never know do you.

Anne the necklace and earrings go well with the dress and the bag . What luck I just spotted the jewellry in M&S.I just thought straight away that they would go.
How is Ruby? Behaving like a young lady? I do hope so :-D :-D. I get so fed up when I lose a post and like you I just give up sometimes, plus i can't remember everything ~I said that was lost LOL.

OH GOSH ANN. What a terrible reaction to the face pack :-0 :-0 :-0. Is it one that you have used before? I do think reporting the reaction is a good idea ,especially if you say you arent the only one it has happened to. It may need taking off the shelves.I hope your face is getting cooler now and that it didn't affect your eyes. What was the make? Hannah is always using face packs .

You asked if America might be o nthe cards. I did wonder back along after she had been the the US for that conference and research thing .But she still has 2 more years before she qualifies as a Clinical Psychologist. He next placement for practical work is going to be Palliative /End of Life. She think that she will probably be working mostly with the families of the patients rather than the patient themselves ,but at the moment she is not really sure. That is going to be a tough one I think.

Liz you sound as though you will be fighting fit to go off to France :-D :-D. I bet it felt great to be able ot get out on your own again .I know I have said before but you have done so well with recovery from the hip op.

I have the fan blowing nicely next to me again today as it has been another sticky day.
It was on all night last night next to my side of the bed :-D I slept like a baby :-D :-D

I brought the washing in a little while ago because it started raining and as soon as it was in the sun came out again but the washing did'nt.

I opened a new jar of that french strawberry jam the other day when I had made those scones. Put some on one scone and spied a long piece of what looked like curled up plum skin. Now as far as I know they don't make any kind of plum jam so is plum a filler for the strawberry jam and its not ALL strawberry??

Morning all,

Sunny again today, we are getting spoilt! There are grey clouds in the sky though.

Ann I hope the face is back to normal this morning. That was a dreadful thing to happen and on your face too. Please let us know how you are.It certainly did'nt help you. We always think these naturalish products are going to be ok but it just shows you that things can be wrong. You looked like you had gone to sleep in the sun and been burnt.

Oh is cleaning out his fish filters and I am going to get something for breakfast.

See you later.

Frank

Frank Report 24 Aug 2017 11:05

Good morning to you lovely ladies, Evening Kim,

Had a good night until 4.45 when I woke with tummy pains. It has been really upset, even though I managed to get a bit of sleep in the armchair.

Bit of sunshine around, but plenty of cloud. I will check if the lawns are dry enough for a cut.

John and Carolyn want to do to our favourite Chinese Restaurant this evening. I have booked a table for 6.00 pm. When I rang yesterday, Steve the Manager, was surprised to hear my voice as we haven't been there for a long time.

Roa bought me a new pair of shoes and slippers yesterday. They are "PARVERS" excellent, comfortable and expensive shoes. The great thing was they were HALF PRICE so the shoes were (I say) ONLY £39.95 and the slippers £19.95. I have more shoes and slippers in my cupboard than I can shake a stick at.!!! So the Air Ambulance bag will be filled next time there is a collection.

Hows the FACE this morning Ann, not so sore I hope, and as smooth as a baby's bottom <3 <3 <3.

Are you out to celebrate with Hannah this weekend Jane. ?? I didn't realise that she still has more time to spend where she is. I thought she would be able to move on, if she wanted too.

Conrad has spoken to Ros and said he will be going back to Spain Sunday ish, What that means I don't know. Jan is going with him for a couple of weeks. He is also going to RENT a villa for June and July next year. As it's our 40th with can go and stay as long as we want. (what about the garden and medications ??)

Madam is at the hairdressers at 1.30 for a wash, cut and colour. So that will take two hours plus. I need to go and get an "ESTIMATE" to get mine cut. I can't remember the last time I had it done. (anyone got a ribbon) LOL LOL.

I will put my joggers on now and do the lawns. I will get showered and shaved later.
