O Anne its just as well you noticed as that could have been nasty if she had swallowed it. I wonder where she found it?

Off out in a min. We have that very fine rain in the air and oh said it was raining a bit when he got up early this morning.

Afternoon All,

Much cooler here today as well. I seem to feel so much better than yesterday with the heat.

Oh Anne, you just got the screw off Ruby in time which was lucky. It's like toddlers isn't it.......you need eyes in the back of your head!! Poor Becky having to listen to words like that from her stepfather.......he should know better than use language like that in front of her. At lunch today I heard 2 young women chatting and one used the 'tw**' word. I just don't get it that women will use these derogatory words that refer to women's bodies. You don't hear men using such an insulting equivalent about their body parts, just women's. It's good that Abbie is settling in well in her flat and hopefully she will soon get a permanent job as you say. That £800 a month is quite a sum to find though.

Oh Frank, whatever will you do next!! I think you should start writing a book about your escapades. It's always my fear when using that stuff that I will end up glueing myself together. :-S You were lucky to have not ended up in A&E.

I have just rung the council about returning the cup I won as they hadn't been in touch like they said they would. It seems I could have kept it as they'd lost track of who had it and thought it was lost when they had to empty the parish council office recently. The office is rubble now as they are building a new, bigger one. I'll drop it in at the district office tomorrow.

JUST A WORD OF WARNING TO YOU ALL. There is a scam going round.. This morning I had a phone cll supposedly from BT. Saying they thought I was due a rebate . Before he could get going with his spiel, I told him to SOD OFF. This afternoon John rang to say he had a call from BT yesterday afternoon. He got liked to his computer and in all was on there for three hours. He was due a rebate of £198.00 but as they were only able to credit one account with a maximum of £100.00 could they use any other accounts. It ended up him giving them THREE A/C numbers. This morning his computer screen was shown it was BACKING UP. He contacted his bank and found that £1,000s of pounds had been cleaned out of his bank accounts. As the transactions hadn't been cleared they were able to cancel everything.

If that could happen to John ,with all his worldly knowledge, and experience. It just goes to show how gullible people can be. YOU HAVE BEED WARNED.

Back to better things, I went out to the garage a few minutes ago and you can feel the damp in the air, and silly me didn't cut my lawn today.

I had my injection this afternoon. The nurse asked how I was, I said a bit achy. She said as I was well over due for my injection., this could be the reason. !!!

It's almost dark here and it's only 5.00 pm. I had better go and get the veg on for dinner. Lamb and fresh veg again tonight.

Jane Report 29 Aug 2017 17:59

Afternoon All

Thanks for that warning about the scam Frank. John was very lucky that the transactions hadn't cleared and that his money was safe. He really must have thought it was a real call from BT. But I would have thought though that BT would not be asking for bank account deatial by phone.
Gawd ,you could have sliced your fingers off with that stanley knife !!!!!. Good job you didn't sit on the glue :-D :-D

Mel the little Twins look really cute. They remind me very much of another set of identical twin boys whose pics I get sent every now and then from my friend. The grub on the BBQ's looked tasty :-D :-D and really nice meat.

Anne,it is good Abbie is settling into her new place. I bet it is a relief for her to actually be away from her home situation . That Stepfather of hers sounds a right horrible man

Usisng the C word for me is an absolute no no. I actually told someone to leave my house after she let out a tirade of foul language at her OH including the C word.
I think the others will remember me doing that !!!!!. It was a dreadful day.

I just don't understand Abbie and Beckies Mum Anne. It just sounds as she is prepared to lose her children and hang on to this man.She needs to get her priorities right doesn't she.

So Ann you could have keep the cup !!. Pity you decided to ring the council .

It is so dark here .It suddenly came over like this about an hour ago and it is now light rain. At least I got a whole washing load dry whirly gig line . Another load to go out but it looks like it is going ot be a wet morning tomorrow so it will have to be the tumble drier.
I took some new trousers in to be shortened for James. He bought them at the weekend for the wedding. I was worried I wouldn't get them back in time but can collect them on Thursday so that is good.

Easy meal tonight. Sausages ,Rumblethumps,(a dish from Sainsbury) bit like a rich Bubble and Squeek thing. Carrots and Beans in the steamer. Sorted :-D

OH and I were saying the other day how you can't even trust what may be a genuine call or email these days Frank. The methods are getting more sophisticated and keep changing all the time. I always say 'send me something in writing as you have my address' and if it's a scam they put the phone down! John won't be dropping his guard again in future will he and he's very lucky the bank could act quickly enough to stop the emptying of his accounts. He needs to shift some dosh out of his accounts so there's less in there at risk too. I bet his blood ran cold when he realised what was happening. Thanks for telling us about it as we all need to keep on our toes with a few reminders what can happen.

I was fancying a bacon buttie after seeing the last pics Mel! lol.

magpie Report 29 Aug 2017 18:47

You do need to be up in the morning these days but tbh no reputable company ever asks for bank details over the phone, so you should certainly never give info like this to anyone for any reason. We just say our son deals with all our financial matters and to leave a phone number that he can call to chat about whatever it is! The phone always goes dead and we report it to the bank! It's only happened once, but they were out of luck! It is better not to keep too much money at risk,, best squireled (sp!) out of harm's way in a safe a/c. I'm surprised your friends bank didn't advise him to do this!
We had a lovely weekend! Nice and hot and lazy! L rang today as they're back from France. They sounded very good and are coming to lunch on. Sunday. GD wants to take me for a spin in her car - Help!!!

Jane

Jane Report 29 Aug 2017 20:10

What car Liz???? Not a zooped Jag like Franks friend I hope LOL A little gentle drive around the country lanes maybe :-D :-D Now that would be nice.

Chris and James have eaten. I don't seem to be at all hungry so mine is keeping warm in the top oven, and I will have it when I am ready.

Thomas has been asleep all afternoon in the house.I woke him up to try and get him out and he went straight into the summerhouse and is still asleep in there. This is not normal for him
:-S. I don't think he has had even a mouse today !! although he has had a bit of his cat food .Chris says I am worrying about nothing .I probably am ,but don't like it when he is not behaving normally .(especially just before we go away) I'm just a worry puss :-D
Not looking a very nice night out there now. The drizzle seems to be getting a little heavier.

Annx Report 29 Aug 2017 21:03

How on earth do young people who've just passed their test manage to afford to run a car? Do parents bankroll them all these luxuries till they are earning, as some don't seem to have even part time jobs and pay things themselves like young Lewis does?

I don't think it wise to tell anyone over the phone that your children deal with your financial affairs. These scamming people are known to pass your details around to other scammers and to say something like that could make you sound vulnerable, incapable and an easy target perhaps for another kind of scam.

Will you be watching the Psychopath prog at 9.00pm on Channel 5 Jane? I know you like these things too......I have recorded it. :-) I meant to ask how your fingers etc were doing now?

Jane

Jane Report 29 Aug 2017 21:10

Ann I meant to say I have seen the whole of Top of the Lake China Girl and the previous one . All on Catch up. I thought both were just brilliant.
Just watchin Trust Me now so will do catch up on the Psychopath prog. It sounds interesting !

magpie

magpie Report 29 Aug 2017 21:20

P's parents bought her a car, a little blue 5 years old fiesta, before she passed her test. (I did say about it in a previous thread!) I've no idea how she runs it as it's not my business. We bought both ours a car after they passed their tests, and yes we helped them initially to run them.
We all have our own way of dealing with scammers, and we're happy with ours.
Watching a prog about Balmoral, it's very interesting.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 29 Aug 2017 21:39

I did'nt get in till late as I did LIdl frist and Morrisons afterwards. I was dying for a drink when I got in and put it all away.

That was shocking what happened to John Frank!! He should have known better than to give his bank details out over the phone. I am glad he contacted the bank in time to stop the money disappearing. Anyway if it is BT on the phone they know your address through your account so would comnntact you that way if it was really urgent.

Its been a cold and dreary day here with a little rain this morning but nothing to really worry about. It brightened up a bit as Icame out of Morrisons and I had to put the sun visor down on the way home but it turned very cold this evening and I am now in a cardy and thin turtle neck. I hope that was'nt the end of our summer but they say a high is coming next weekend I think.

I shall be watching the last program of Trust Me soon and then Celebrity Bear Grills.

Frank Report 30 Aug 2017 10:27

Good morning my little "Bumble Bees" !! evening Kim,

Anne, I do feel sorry for the two girls, how come her mother doesn't tell that foul mouthed individual to get out of her house. Using language like that is not acceptable in any household. As for the other, lets hope she finds herself a good job, and gets sorted. How on earth can a parent treat their children like that.

Have got a sore bum this morning. The nurse hasn't done a Testosterone injection before, she was only a teenager, and apologised before she injected me. I know the liquid is very thick and takes a long time to inject it. She did the best she could. Bless her.

We helped our Lewis with the cost of his car, but it was 13 years old, and he works his socks off to earn the money to run it. W are so proud of his will to work and help himself. When he starts University I will put £50.00 a month into his bank to help with his petrol costs each day from Toddington to Hertford. It will be cheaper than him getting a flat or sharing with others. Then on any days off he will be able to work.

The Balmoral programme was very good, I enjoyed it. While Ros watched DIANA I went in the conservatory and found a programme about Lifeboat men and their rescues. Again very good. As much as I liked Diana, I think all these programmes are a bit much. Sorry, that's just me. xx

Ros has cut her heal on something and sliced a bit off. She has it plastered up with antiseptic cream, but says how sore it is. There's not much you can do for it, but keep it clean and covered.

Horrible damp morning here. The heating even decided to come on this morning, so the temp. must have dropped for that to happen. So the lawns won't get done again today.

I think Ros is taking her glass's back again this morning. They just don't seem right, and she's having trouble reading with them. This will be the THIRD TIME. I told her to ask for another eye test. They got my new glass's wrong and had to put more prismns (sp) in them. So they can make mistakes.

It almost dark sitting here, so I will have to put the table lights on. :-| :-| :-|

magpie

magpie Report 30 Aug 2017 10:45

I agree with you Frank over these endless progs about Diana! I think lots of people are heartily sick of this raking up of the past including both of us , so you're not alone!! Yes the lifeboat men was an excellent prog, they are to be so admired, completely selfless even with those idiotic holiday makers!!
Balmoral was very interesting too. We love all the old film and the beautiful scenery. Edward V111th and Mrs Simpson never cease to fascinate!!
Horrid day here so I expect this afternoon the geographic channel will be searched for 'Wild China' or whatever! I expect you will be doing that too?!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Aug 2017 12:36

Afternoon all,

Got up late and then Di arrived so we have been nattering away and she went home with a Cyclamen seedling which is just coming into flower. They were seed off a plant I bought for mum years ago which is still in the little loo and flowers every year. Then one yeaar when I repotted it it had three seedling growing round the edge of the pot so I potted them up, lost one and ones in the little loo with the mother plant and gave the other to Di. One died.

It has been a bright morning here with sunshine but now the clouds are gathering just as the washing machine has finished, typical.......... :-|

Did'nt go to sleep till after 25 past 4 and thats the time I arose for the first visit to to loo and twice after so you can imagine how thirsty I was when I woke up. My tongue was sticking to the roof of my mouth.

I agree about all the stuff on Diana, the mail on Saturday has been full of pictures of her and the boys and lots that hav'nt been seen before. I know the boys want to remember her as its now 20 years since she died but I think it is all a bit too much now. Let the poor woman rest in peace I say.

Frank

Frank Report 30 Aug 2017 14:20

I'm pleased that I am not alone on the Diana subject. I bet there is more to come LOL LOL

Yes Liz, Nat Geo will be viewed this afternoon.

Ros is just back from the opticians. They have agreed that another eye test would be in order, she has to go next Monday morning.

How nice that the cyclamen had given off some "babies" lets hope it continues to do so. It's a good memory of your mum.xxx

I have so much respect for the Lifeboat men. 57 years ago last June they rescued me and five others, after being caught in a gale force TEN storm. Were we pleased to see them. They will always get my donations, and I have offered to do any collecting in my area, if they want me.

Still a dull old day here, no chance of any sunshine today, the forecast isn't that good for the rest of the week. GOODBYE SUMMER.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Aug 2017 14:26

I hope I am not speaking too soon but we have sunshine. The washing is drying nicely and I have a load of ironing to do this afternoon. :-D

Afternoon all,

Nice steady rain here and cooler after the last few days of heat we've had ,the children have been in the pool making the most of it before its back to school next week .
I had to smile yesterday Chelsea said "Nanny were swimming pools invented when you were little " :-D

Mel lovely photo's from you of the dog show ,those people found the ideal spot under the lovely fir tree in the shade ,that was a lot of mowing your OH had to do to get the field ready for them but it looked a treat .

Frank i don't know what Ros is thinking letting you loose with super glue :-D i hate the stuff and get Colin to use it if i need any thing glued, when i read you had put you have a sore bottom i wondered if you'd had another mishap with the glue !! :-0 :-D :-D

How is Thomas today Jane ? i hope he's not poorly just as you have to put him in the cattery for the weekend .

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 30 Aug 2017 16:00

Funny thing is I had to glue something with super glue and I got a tiny speck on my finger which stuck my fingernail to my finger. It felt so weird so I got the nailfile out and got rid of it that way. I was lucky it had'nt gone down too far.

Annx Report 30 Aug 2017 17:28

Afternoon All,

It's pouring with rain here now and has put the kybosh on OH's outdoor plans for today. It's great to feel cooler though.

Mandy don't they come out with some things!! You can see why though as they wouldn't know would they. I had to chuckle!!

Frank, I think Lewis is such a great role model with a brilliant attitude and he deserves all you do for him. :-) He wants to be responsible for himself, is prepared to work to help himself and doesn't expect to sit back and be given everything. You have every right to be massively proud of him, as do his parents and I am too!! :-D

Mel, I was awake last night till after 4.00pm this morning and wondered whether to give up and get up at that point! I watched the last of Trust Me too and thought it was good. Balmoral had interesting parts and is a beautiful place but thank goodness times have changed! I got a little tired after seeing a couple of the Diana progs, but it was a bit of history for those who were too young to have lived through it at the time and seems to have changed the attitudes of some. I found the Psychopath prog was very thought provoking. What terrible, terrible, revolting to imagine, experiences from a parent some of them had as children!
