Frank Report 31 Aug 2017 18:28

Well here I am. Went to the hairdressers. NO ASHER. when I asked why was told she had left. After a lot of begging I was able to find where she was working. We went round there, not far from where she worked. She came out from the back, and threw her arms round my neck, and it was such a welcome She was approached by her new boss with an offer she couldn't refuse. So I know where she is now. The only trouble is OAPs were only charged £6.00 at the old place, it's now £10.00. While in Tesco's carpark I went and bought Ros's Birthday card.

We went to the main tip in Northampton to drop of the black bags of garden rubbish, and it was closed. So we left the bags by the gate, I wasn't taking that lot back home.

We then went to our little eatery. (NEVER AGAIN) we were the only couple in there, and it took nearly an hour to get our food. Ross Medium steak was passed WELL DONE and my fish was overcooked. I wanted to complain, but Ros said at this rate we won't get fed for another hour or so. We picked over our meals and left.

I did have a nice experience while in there though. A couple about late thirties came in with SEVEN children. It turns out they are FOSTER CARERS. They have two of their own children and foster the other five. Two were babies, one about 3 another a little older, and a disabled boy about 10 years old, and another girl about eight. We had a bowl of chips over, so I took them to the children while they waited for their food. OH THANKS MISTER came from the little boy. I shook hands will both the parents, and thanked them for what they do. They seemed very pleased that I took the trouble.

Off to catch the news.

Gill ,I hope that OH's Brother had a lovely few days away with his family and that he is feeling well enough again to begin the next gruelling round of Chemo..

Thomas is still not home!!!!!!. He better come home soon otherwise I shall be a right old worry wort. If he doesn't come back at all before we go I shall be in a right old 2&8.I will just have to ask my neighbour to put his food (dry food) in the summerhouse for him. There is a cat flap in the summerhouse. I also have to give her the code to our Burglar alarm as we had to get the chap out today because it has gone off 3 times in the last couple of months .He says there is a problem with one of the sensors but doesnt know which one. The alarm has been in since 1992 so is a really old system .

Must get on with dinner

Afternoon All,

Your sit upon sounds like it had a 'carry on film' moment with the hypodermic syringe Frank! I hope it soon feels more comfy. It always surprises me how much garden rubbish there is......with all we keep throwing away you wouldn't think there would be much left would you? Where is their health and safety training leaving your poor sister a plank as a seat. The poor woman could have knocked herself out falling into the bath like that and it was a good job the neighbour heard her shouting. Hope the faintness passed quickly.

It sounds like you have been running around Jane what with Chris's trousers and then Thomas disappearing. It does sound like he sensed 'something going on'. Hopefully he's turned up and you've managed to get him to the cattery. I hope you've managed to get your own things sorted for the wedding and that everything will run smoothly now! I look forward to seeing a few pics when you get back!

I can see why your MIL would worry about your BIL going away Gill. My first MIL was advised to take her holiday before she had an operation on her cancer and I remember being quite anxious with thoughts of what might happen while she was away. Hopefully your MIL will feel a bit better with him back home again and it's good he has had some time away with his family. It is a shame the chemo made him so ill though and I hope they can adjust things or help to make it a bit better for him next time. I expect it is nice to be home again and Sandra will be keen to catch up with her progs.

That was lucky you were able to adjust your Sainsbury's order for Abbie's Chinese Anne. It's good you see her often and are able to see how she is coping. It is quite a big step moving into your own home on your own. I hope some food cured your dizziness.

I have been busy today sorting some photos for the village show and would you believe it, the printer started playing up!! I thought I was going to be like Jane and running around to beg someone to do them for me quickly, but I managed to sort it out after a long time fiddling and they are done now. Now I need to sort some beads out for meeting up in the morning.

It's 12 years since my mother died today and it was 2 years ago on the 29th since OH's mother died.

That was a lovely thing to hear about the foster children Frank, but a pity about the meal.

Jane Report 31 Aug 2017 20:08

Was it Hattie Jaques with the hypodermic needle Ann ? in the Carry on Film. I do seem to remember that.

Well Thomas rolled in (and I say rolled ) just after 7. I am pretty sure he has a tummy full of rabbit :-S. He has gone straight to sleep on the settee in the study ,which seems to be his choice of beds at the moment.Classicsl FM is playing gently in the background . Little does he know the doors are shut now and there is no escape until he comes home fro mthe Cattery on Monday .

All my things are ready to take now tomorrow other than the toilet bag. I must remember the hairdrier though as I always find the ones in hotels a bit on the weak side .I wont be wearing my shoes for too long at the wedding. I have been stomping along in them today and had to take them off after an hour.I will keep them on for the ceremony and photos and then change into another pair which are still nice but far more comfy. I have plenty of plasters packed :-D.For the evening I am either going barefoot of I have a pair of flats.

Good job the printer got sorted Ann. Do you think it might 'go' again?
Your Mum died in the same year as my Mum Ann.

Evening all,

It's been a lovely sunny day here today ,i've been shopping and hung the washing out but apart from that we've had a lazy day .

Glad to hear Thomas has turned up at last ,now you'll be able to settle Jane , i hope the weather is good for the wedding have a safe journey .
Do you take your iron in case any thing needs a last minute press after packing ?

I feel really tired tonight so we're having an early night .

Gillx Report 31 Aug 2017 21:50

Pleased to hear Thomas is back home safe and sound Jane, now you can have a good nights sleep without any worry. Have a safe journey tomorrow and a great time at the wedding. Good idea to take another pair of comfy shoes, you don't want to end up with sore feet.

How lovely for the little boy to thank you for the chips Frank, pity your meal wasn't up to scratch though. I bet you're pleased you found Asher, it sounds like she was pleased to see you.

Let's hope your printer plays nicely in the future Ann, you must of been quite frustrated with it, at least you fixed it in the end. What are you making at beading class this week?

It sounds like you've had a lovely relaxing day Mandy, we had lots of sunshine today, not at all like the weather man said as it was supposed to pour down with rain all day, no doubt it'll rain tomorrow now I've said that.

Good job we watched all our soaps earlier as Sky has gone funny on us and we don't have it tuned into our TV anymore. I don't know what happened, the system crashed and then nothing, just a blank screen. Luckily we have a freeview set top box as a standby, so we're using that at the moment. I've recorded everything for tonight which finishes at 10pm then I'm going to see if I can sort out Sky, if not then we'll stick to the set top box and give up Sky altogether. I've been thinking of getting rid of Sky anyway so it won't be to much of a bother. The only thing is I have quite a few programmes on the planner I was looking forward to watching which I'll lose now. But it's not the end of the world is it? ;-)

I've just finished mopping my kitchen and bathroom floors so I'm off for a cuppa now, then try and sort out Sky and go to bed, it's been quite a long day for us today so an early night will do us all good.

See you all tomorrow
Night Night

Morning all,

Pinchy punchy for the first of the monthy.

I hope September's start will carry on through the month as we have beautiful sunshine here and it always makes your heart sing when you have a lovely start to the day like this.

Its I can't believe its Friday AGAIN..... I don't know where the weeks are going at the moment they seem to be racing by.

Better get something in the washing machine to make myself more work with the ironing.

Hope Jane has a good journey to the wedding and Monday will soon come around when she will be back with us.

Anne Report 1 Sep 2017 11:20

Good morning Mel and everyone

We also have a beautiful start to September. Ruby has had her morning walk and is now looking for mischief after having her morning cuddle while I watched Homes Under the Hammer. Haven't got much planned for today so will do a few odd jobs and maybe do some reading and keeping little madam amused.

I think it is going to be very quiet on here today.

I have cleaned the chickens trough out as the rain had made the food in there sour so its had a good scrub.

Washing is on the line and oh has been pressure washing the decking round the ponds.

The leaves are starting to fall from the apple trees and other trees and making a general mess and I expect oh will be putting the netting over the pond soon to keep the leaves out.

I really don't know where this year has gone it has past so quickly and the children are back at school this week and then we will be thinking of Christmas again.

Frank Report 1 Sep 2017 12:38

I'm here Mel, !!! Good afternoon to you all.

I have been allowed to do all the flat ironing while Ros was in the shower and doing her hair. I have also put the line up, which is now full from an overnight wash.

I have also dug out the carpet cleaner, and will give the walk in part of the carpets a once over. We have plenty of old towels to put down until it dry's.

So the little monster turned up full of bunnies, what will he do over the weekend, not being able to go hunting ???

Heard from Simon yesterday. He is up around Stoke on Trent, and working his way back. He will ring when he finds a nice place for us to meet up, and not to far for Ros to drive.

We still have apples coming out of our ears, I will have to go further afield to other neighbours to get rid of some more. I hate to see them fall off the tree and rot away.

The lawn is too wet to cut as of now, so will look at it again later in the afternoon.

My "CAT SCARER" turned up this morning. It's on and in situ. I will have to see how Abbie reacts to it when she comes down the drive. If it scares her, I will know it's working. Now for the cats !!!!

Still day here, with big white clouds. See you all later.

O glad you're not in any trouble Frank. You sound like you have got a lot done this morning.

I have just hoovered through and emptied waste bins, got oh's pills ready for tonight and made him coffee. Nearly time to get the lunch and I can just rinse off the trough now as oh has finished pressure washing. It will be drinkers next and hog bowls to wash.

Feeding Friday again so all the plants have to be fed today.

Frank

Frank Report 1 Sep 2017 15:21

That will keep you busy for a while Mel.

I have been a busy boy. Cleaned all the walkways on the carpets, Bedroom as well as lounge and runners. Have seasoned the Pork ribs for grilling tonight. Chips in jug of water. I have also sorted out the potato cupboard, there were so many tiny new potato's, that I have washed them and boiled them. Roa can peel hem when they are cold and eat them like sweets. So adores cold new potato's, so I will be in her good books.

Roa, is still finding things to do in the garden, and is out there now. I am thinking of getting the mower out now, as the lawn seems to have dried out, in this lovely weather.

I have just got a joint of lamb out for the weekend. That can sit in the fridge to traw out for Sunday.

Must remember the Scripts. They said they would try to get them ready for today, as I am short on a couple. Roa will have to nip up in the car later.

Yes Mel where do the days/weeks/months go. Someone reminded me yesterday that there are only 17 weeks till Christmas. Which reminds me I must get those Christmas Potato's in this week. !!!

Annx Report 1 Sep 2017 17:48

Afternoon All,

I wondered if you'd remember the pinch punch today Mel. I'd never even heard of it till I started work! You and Frank have been busy getting lots of things done today. The children here went back to school last Tuesday, but they broke up earlier too.

Frank does the cat scarer make a noise you can hear then!! lol. You don't want Abbie landing in Ros' borders. I suppose it has to be plugged in somewhere? One of our bedroom carpets that is a light colour could do with a clean too. I dread to think what shade it is under the bed and will be catching up on some of these jobs now I am less busy. You were very lucky to find Asher and how nice she was so pleased to see you. The extra price on your haircuts is where some of her extra pay will be coming from I expect!! lol:-) It's still less than us ladies pay though. Simon is in my childhood county then at the moment. It will be great for you to meet him and see his boat. I love seeing the barges on the canal and some have proper little gardens on the roof with all the potted plants.

Does Ruby have a favourite toy Anne or is mischief more interesting? I sometimes watch Homes Under the Hammer. It was something I wanted to do years ago after completely renovating an old house, but it's a big decision to give up jobs to do it and take a risk and it's hard to do it as well as a job if you have a demanding job. Nowadays some just get others in to do most of the work though and there are some great transformations.

I wonder if Jane has been giving her new shoes a run out in the hotel room today. I think shoes seem to get tighter when it's hot and with the standing around there is at occasions like weddings. Hopefully Chris got his trousers this morning and they are ok!

I have everything ready for the show tomorrow, including the cup to take back which I mustn't forget! I told OH I would struggle to carry things with my knees and how far it is to the temporary venue and was going to leave some out, but he won't hear of it and said he'd do it and miss footie if needs be!

Anne

Anne Report 1 Sep 2017 19:41

You all put me to shame as I haven't done that much today but these days if I'm not in the mood I only do the essentials, but we always have a cooked evening meal. I think after 45 years working full time and for most of that time all 3 sons were at home. I still miss not working and spent the happiest time of my working life at the Arts Centre

Ruby doesn't have a favourite day time toy it varies but she always knows which one she wants and will dig into the collection until she finds the one she wants, When she is tired there is one toy we call Pink and this one goes to bed with her. When Richard comes in from work she has to give him one of the sausage roll biscuits.

Gillx Report 1 Sep 2017 20:27

Evening all

Sandra and I have been busy today sorting through all her stuff, she had so much she wanted me to pack some things away and put them in the loft for safe keeping. OH is gloss painting the doors and door frames now as they need a freshen up. I've decided to go through my things tomorrow and have a sort out, Sandra has offered to help me, which was nice of her.

It sounds like Frank and Mel have been busy too.

That was nice of your OH to offer to help you Ann.

Ruby sounds quite a character Anne, how cute to share her toys with Richard.

Hope all is well for Jane and Chris and the weather is nice for the wedding tomorrow.

Well, I never got Sky sorted, we even tried it on another TV but still had problems. I've just realised Victoria is on the planner so I'm going to see if I can watch it on catch up on my laptop. Is it the second one this week or the third, does anyone know? I've got it on record on my set top box now, so I'm hoping it's the second one and I can watch the first one online.

Going to sort something out to eat now, as none of us have eaten all day with being so busy and we're all starving. Then it's an early night for me as I only managed three and a half hours last night.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Sep 2017 22:16

Victoria is the second episode this Sunday Gill so watch the first one on catch up.

Cooked a mini lamb joint tonight with new pots, brocc, sprouts and a huge mushroom for oh which I put garlic and herb stuffing in. He did'nt know what it was till he cut into it and then asked where I got the great big mushroom from. I bought two in Morrisons and he is getting the other one for his big breakfast on Sunday.

Washed all the hog bowls and bird feeders this afternoon. so chickens and wild birds all have nice clean feeders now.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 1 Sep 2017 22:18

Good luck at the show tomorrow Ann. I am sure you will win something. How nice G is helping to take the things in for you and giving up his footie for the day.

Annx

Annx Report 1 Sep 2017 22:21

It's the second Victoria this week Gill. It's a shame you haven't been able to sort your SKY box out. I suppose you will have tried switching it all off for a few minutes and trying it again and looked for loose cables. Might the card have moved in the slot? You could try removing it and putting it in again. Ours in the bedroom is very temperamental and I must get that sorted. The recordings break up and if you pause it jumps back to the start again!! Sandra is very willing isn't she and does what she can to help. It's good your hubby is keeping himself busy with the painting.

I like that Ruby has a bedtime toy! It's like taking Teddy to bed. :-) The sausage rolls biscuits sound tasty!!
