Oh sorry I didn't see your post about Victoria Mel. Thanks for you good wishes for tomorrow.....The Windmill picture is going too this time. It would be nice if anything gets placed, but it's very much about what the judges happen to like with things like art isn't it. I didn't think I'd heard right when OH said he would come and bring things for me on the main footie day of the week!! I think he secretly wants to come and have a look around and is wanting to see which bigwigs will be there!!! lol. He likes to know who's who!!

We've noticed the leaves coming down too and you are right about this year seeming to whizz by. Some people start making their Christmas cakes this month don't they. Off to bed now and hopefully plenty of sleep.

Frank Report 2 Sep 2017 10:52

Morning all, evening Kim.

I won't say good as it has been an absolute Bu@@er for me. After football last night I sat for half hour with Ros, then went to bed. I was still awake when she came in at 11.45.pm Once she had dropped off, I came back into the lounge and read until 3.00 am. Went back to bed and still couldn't sleep. Got up again at 4,30 am and read and watched T.V. until I called Ros at 9.00 am. She's just left to meet Martine. I can't remember the last time I was awake for over 24 hours.

Ann you bought back a memory of a little joke from years back.A chap was talking about his wife to a friend. He said his wife was Temperamental. His mate said so is mine. She has a hell of a TEMPER and she's MENTAL. LOL. I hope everything goes well today at the show. I am sure you will come home with a prize for your windmill.xx

Gill. Turn the electric of to your box for a couple of minutes, then turn it on again. I think you will find it will reset itself. Also take your sky card out and give it a wipe. It has happened to me many times, and this always worked. FINGERS CROSSED. xx

I won't be going out at lunchtime as I don't think there is any decent football on today. I will just sit and read and try to grab a few zzz.

It looks like Jane has a good day for the wedding. Tomorrow could be bit iffy in some places.

Aren't they having a bad lot in the States and India, Pakistan. I see on the news at 6.00 am this morning that Asia has over FOURTY MILLION people without any help. Thinking of them, poor souls.

Beautiful morning here with blue sky's and sunshine. There is no breeze either at the moment.

It's wonderful how dogs have their favourite toys. JJ has a "DUCK" and if you say to him wheres QUACK QUACK. He goes off and finds it. My poodles had favourite toys also.

Mandy, Hows Max doing. You don't say much about him these days. Does that mean he is being GOOD ?? ;-) ;-) ;-)

Going to dig a root of potato's for tomorrows lunch/dinner. Also some more runners. Roa has taken a BIG BAG of apples to Martine, as she wants to freeze them.

See you later, hope everyone is fine.

Morning all,

O Frank how awful to lay or be awake all night. I am sure you will catch up during the day with a few zzzz's as you say.

Nice bright morning here at the moment but they did forcast rain for us today. I do hope they were wrong and it stays like it is now.

I lay for a couple of hours again last night and got up at 4.15am for the loo went back to bed and must have dropped off straight away as I don't remember laying awake after that at all.

Usual today up the shop for the paper and not much else. May clean the chickens out, may not! see how I feel.

Morning All,

Another nice day and not too hot for me, although it was very misty/foggy earlier. I like the joke Frank and must tell OH.......I know he would chuckle!! :-) I have the occasional night like that Frank and you don't feel good the next day. I was late getting off to sleep and woke up a couple of times. It was with having to get up earlier this morning, you wake up and can't help keep checking the time! We found the rooms at the old school and they were relieved I'd remembered to bring the cup and one said they'd all spent over 3 hours looking for it!! It took a while to sort things as you don't have your name on anything, just a number you are given to put on and all the photos have to be stuck on big wall panels with blue tac. People were arriving thick and fast carrying boxes and bags of things by the time we left. We popped into the nearby garden centre then and had a bacon, egg and mushroom cob each which was very nice. Wouldn't you just know it, OH found himself a footie match that started at 11.00am at Coventry and means he will be back in time to take me back when the show opens at 2.00pm. lol. I shall have to start calling him Will as in 'where there's a will there's a way!'

It looks like being a good day for the wedding which is ideal for the photos and with it being outside. It will be a long day though and James and Jess will need to be bright eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow to move Jess into her new place. Still, you bounce back when you are younger don't you.

I've just picked more runners and found a recipe for making soup with them so might do that later and also peel, cook and freeze the apples.

Frank Report 2 Sep 2017 13:16

Well I am still awake, have been reading my book all morning. I do feel tired as I am tottering around when I walk. I might well have an hour on the bed this afternoon. Ros is bringing lunch in with her, rolls and prawn salad filling. It's that or fresh ham off the bone. Goes down a treat with a bit of mustard.

So "WILL" has his way then Ann. I didn't know any football had a K.O. that early. But there again our local team plays at various times.

Still a lovely day here, I will wait for Ros to get home before I go Bean picking, and potato digging. I don't want/need any accidents.

Annx

Annx Report 2 Sep 2017 13:42

Yes, he said it was an unusually early KO Frank. He's always been interested in football grounds and watches Non League teams. A lie down might do you good and good thinking to wait for Ros before picking and digging!! OH is back now so I'll finish my COT and go to see if I have been lucky enough to get any of those coloured cards!!

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Sep 2017 14:42

O I can't wait to see what Ann has won. I am sure she will win somemthing I feel it in my bones.

Good idea to wait till Ros is home Frank before picking the beans and digging the potatoes. We don't want any more accidents and if you hav'nt slept it may be better for Ros to pick the beans.

I picked a load more this morning and think I will do some for the freezer as you just can't have runners every day, or can you?

Oh is out on his mower as he says its going to rain tomorrow which means if I need to do some gardening I must do it today.

Still no eggs from the big girls so I shall be glad when October comes and I can get a few new ones. At least I should have eggs through the winter if I take on some more. Em will be pleased too as she says my eggs are the best ever and nobody around here has them anything like mine. When I have bought others around here eggs in the past they have had such pale yellow yolks they look most unappitising.

I meant to ask you Ann whether you took the sepia photo to the show to put with the painting you did?

Frank Report 2 Sep 2017 16:40

No email here Mel.

I am still awake. Roa came down the garden with me, and Pam next door. I sent her home with a fair few Runners, I picked enough for us for tomorrow and got about 10 spuds off of a root. The will scrape without much trouble, boiled with a bunch of fresh mint. Lovely smell in the bungalow. I will do the lamb in mint and Rosemary and cook that nice and slowly. The meat will fall off the bone.

Would you believe Ros is still working in the greenhouse having a tidy up and picking loads more Tomato's.

I don't think I will eat tonight, but might have some Crab Pate with some toast later. Ros bought it in Morrison's this morning.

I have an appointment with the doctor on the 6th, so will see if there is anything wrong with me, not being able to sleep. It's becoming to regular, being awake half the night, and I feel totally worn out all day long. I'm not eating like I use to either.

Ros has bought some leeks and pork, and will make a leek pie during the week. It's an old Earls Barton Dish, that her mother use to make. I had never eaten it till I met Ros. in 1976.

Just put the tele on and it's Muma Mia. At least there are some good ABBA music in it, even though I have seen it before, it might buck me up a bit.

How did you get on at the show Ann, I have been thinking about you this afternoon. Did Gordon enjoy his match. I remember you saying he went to my old village football club at Woodford Town F.C.

Must see if madam wants a hot or cold drink.

Mel Fairy Godmother

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 2 Sep 2017 17:18

Frank oh had that crab pate' in the week. He has it in wraps with salad.

I think I have said before that my dad used to take with with him when he played football. We used to go opposite Drapers Hill. I remember his footie shirt was red and green squares. I think it was by the allotments.

No news from Ann yet then?

Evening all,

It's been quite a nice day ,we had a few short sharp showers this morning as we were trying to finish off emptying the swimming pool ,we started to empty yesterday and just had to clean and put it away but it's surprising how long it takes to do .
I've also made eight jars of strawberry jam so we've had a busy old day .

I hope Ann has won a prize with her lovely paintings at the show this afternoon .

Frank Max is a good boy most of the time ,he still has a go at grabbing things off the work tops if he has the chance :-D but i try to move things to the back now out of his way .
Max has lots of toys but no soft ones as he just rips them up ,his favourite thing is his little green rugby ball ,he's had that since he was a pup.
Hope you manage to get a better nights sleep tonight and you did the right thing waiting for Ros to come home before going out in the garden .

Where in Morrisons is the Crab Pate ? is it in the fresh fish section or near the other pate 's i quite fancy some of that .

Lovely photo of the Deer's again Mel ,they look like they are keeping an eye on you while taking their photo .

Annx Report 2 Sep 2017 19:40

Well, I'm tired and weary now. I did quite well at the show, 3 firsts, 3 seconds and 2 thirds altogether and I was just 1 point short to have won a cup for the photo classes. (you score 3 points for a first, 2 for a second and 1 for a third) The painting of George was one of the seconds with a pencil drawing of a man's face taking the first and for the second year running mountain scenes have won the scenery paint class so I might be thinking mountains to paint if I enter next year. :-) There were such delighted, beaming smiles from the little ones when they went up to collect their certificates. :-) I never took the sepia photo Mel as they weren't taking into account any likeness, just whether they liked what you'd done.

While we waited till the presentations were done we popped around the corner to the church as we have never walked up to it before, despite me living within a few miles most of my life! We didn't see it as we only looked around the oldest part of the churchyard, but there is supposed to be an area for the burial of the inmates of the large mental hospital that used to be nearby. We were quite shocked at all the security needed when we got to the church door as there were security lights and CCTV and a huge padlock and chain on an outer door to the porch. It is in quite a secluded spot though and the church in our own village has had the roof stripped of lead more than once.

Mel what a nice surprise the deer visited you and you managed to get some pics. They have huge ears don't they and such black shiny eyes and noses. I bet they are loving the apples. Yes I can vouch for your eggs being delicious. Mum's always had those nice deep yellow yolks too. She said it was because they got chance to eat lots of greenstuff like yours do.

I can imagine Max sniffing out the food on the worktops Mandy! They have such a good sense of smell and I think Labs are known to like their food!! Best to just push it out of his reach as you say. It's funny how you all say they have their favourite toys! Good idea to get the pool packed away on a dry day. We think the weather has really changed the past few days with the evenings getting chillier and darker, despite being sunny in the day. It's been good that the children have been able to enjoy it this year though.

Yes OH did did go to watch Woodford Town didn't he. I think he said the score today was 5-3 so he saw plenty of goals!! He often seems to meet up with different chaps, some he knows from other matches and who travel long distances, and he gets plenty of footie chat! Much more than he gets from me!! lol. ;-) I love the smell of potatoes cooking with mint. It is really mouthwatering.

Mandy the crab pate' is with the prawns, smoked salmon, and fish sticks, fish cakes and all the processed fish stuff. They also do smoked salmon and mackeral too. Its in small tubs with a card wrapper round it. This cabinet is next to the wet fish counter in our Morrisons.

Afternoon to you all,

Congratulations Ann, three first, three seconds and two thirds. That can't be bad. xx
I knew you would do well. You are so good at painting and photography.

Bit of useless information for you. Today is the anniversary of the start of WW 2, I know that because it's my brothers birthday also.

Yes Mandy, exactly where Mel said it was. I also have a lot of Claw meat. That's great on it's own or in a sarnie. Glad that max is being a good boy !!!

Mel, If you go across the allotments from Draper's Hill, you went over the little Bridge over the River Roding, then turned right, then left. Snakes Lane. That was where Woodford Town's group was. must check with my Nephew if it's sill there.

Well I was in bed by 9.00 pm last night and slept the full TWELVE HOURS, only getting out once. This morning I was wandering around like a ZOMBIE. After a few COT I came alive again. I have prepared all the veg for dinner, had a shower and shave, and am still in my dressing gown.I might stay like this as I am nothing anywhere, and it's nice and comfy LOL LOL.

Ros has been weeding the stones at the bottom of the garden. With the dirt getting on it from the garden the weeds, Marigolds, and grass's seem to get a grip, and are begger's to remove. It's raining now, so she has had to come in.

The lamb is in the oven on a low heat, so that will tick along till five ish. When I will get the veg and pudding on.

I bet Jane was pleased with yesterday's weather. Today is not for being outside.

Might see you all later. STILL no email Mel. !!!
