No he's rung them to say he can't come Frank and it's not like him to let anyone down, although I doubt they'd be encouraging him to bring his bugs!! I got him some of those hydration salts which he's had and some milk of magnesia while I was out. Also some new batteries for his old radio which he loves to listen to in bed. He's had some poached eggs on toast and gone back to bed now as he feels so tired.
It's turned humid here now too. I noticed the bungalow at the other end of the close is having all new windows fitted as I drove down.
Washings all dried and put away now. :-) I had some small beads arrive this morning to make a matching necklace and bracelet while I'm away. Would you believe it, there are 3 strands and one doesn't match the other two. I'll have to see what they suggest as it's their mistake.
Your OH was up early this morning Mel. If I get up in the night I usually have a peep out of the window too.
We always said 'Charlie's dead' round here as well Anne. Your saying is perhaps from round your neck of the woods.
I watched a prog this morning about rescuing 38 cats after a huge sinkhole opened up in America and many homes had to be evacuated, leaving pets to fend for themselves. A lady nearby had been coming and feeding them all. She tooted her horn as she drove up and they all appeared and were miaowing. One little cat was lying near the front door of his abandoned home, as if he still expected his owners to return.

Just having a sit down as after lunch we tackled the tree again. OPh has moved four trailer loads of branches. We both loaded the trailer and while he was emptying it I picked up all the apples under our feet as they are not nice to tread on and you can go over on your ankles they are so big. I have taken a few shots and now we have cut all the small branches out we can see to get to the main branches with the chain saw. Oh has been using a hand saw and the loppers and I was using loppers too.
I am just having a drink and a sit down.
I have done three lots of washing this morning and just put the last lot out and taken some of the first lot in.
I should sleep tonight after all the carting around of branches and apples. I have loaded them under one of the other aple trees so the birds and deer can have a good munch like last year.

Afternoon all
It's been sunny here today so OH and I have been in the garden. I planted almost 100 bulbs for the Spring with Sandra the other day, but I'm worried the squirrels will eat them, so today I designed and made a lid for one of the pots. I wasn't sure if it would work but now it has I'm planning on making more for the other bulbs in pots. I made it out of pieces of wood covered in netting then added a few bits of wood underneath it so it sat inside the pot, I thought it wouldn't slide off if I did that. So that's kept me out of trouble today ;-)
The photo's are lovely Jane, I love the brides dress with the big skirt, I had a big skirt on my wedding dress which spread out when I sat down. You looked lovely in your dress and the necklace went so well with it.
I've never heard of that saying about a petticoat showing below a skirt. My mum used to say "Snow down south" Maybe it's a northern saying :-)
Sorry to hear your OH hasn't been well Ann, let's hope he carries on recovering, there's nothing worse than having a bug is there?
You all sound like night owl's with not sleeping very well lately. Maybe you could carry on the thread at night to keep each other company :-)
Going to sort out dinner now, we're having it early tonight as we missed lunch with being so busy. We just lost track of time.

Afternoon Everyone
Charlies Dead is what we always said for a petticoat showing ,and flying low for a mans flies undone :-D
Frank maybe you have a bit of a water infection .Hopefully the problem will be sorted soon.
Oh Ann,OH sounds like he has a really nasty bug :-(. I bet he feels like a rung out rag now. I hope whatever he has he is not going ot be passing it on to you.
Was it a full moon last night. I too had a dreadful nights sleep and was awake for a good couple of hours between about 3 and 5am.Thomas was on the prowl too.
Gill ,I thought Kelsey looked stunning in her dress. A lot of young ladies these days have really straight tight fitting wedding dresses so it was nice to see a more traditioal one . She kept the dress on right until the end of the evening, although I think when we had the meal someone unzipped the back for her so she was more comfortable to eat LOL The owners of the venue thought that this was the wedding of the year there and will put it on their website next time they update it. :-D
James is just home after leaving here last Friday morning. He has moved Jess into her new place in Canterbury, then the wedding and then yesterday it was Jess's Graduation in London for her Masters degree. So he is totally pooped.
Anne, things must be so bad for Abbie to put a stop on the Step Father going to the flat. Did she have to do this 'legally ' ? I am so pleased though she is happy where she is now.
Need to do dinner now.

Your right Jane, tight fitting wedding dresses do seem to be all the rage nowadays. I married in the 80's so big skirts were the in thing then. Poor James, with all he's done lately, he'll sleep for a week now. I think it was a full moon last night, so maybe everyone will sleep better tonight.
It sounds like Abbie is settling in okay Anne. I was wondering if she had stopped her stepfather going to her flat legally too.
How lovely for the lady to feed all those cats in America Ann. I felt sorry for the one sitting at the door waiting for it's owners to return though.
You've been busy today Mel, like you said, you'll sleep tonight. You must be shattered.

Morning all,
I had a much better nights sleep last night. Went out like a light and got up once for the loo the same time as oh went back to bed and fell asleep again right away. Feel much better for it today too.
Grey sky but we have had a little sun break through now and then.
I have the library this morning late so must'nt forget that.

First again, Good morning to you all, Evening Kim,
I bet Mel is still sleeping after all her work yesterday. Where do you take all the branches Mel, with all your space down there, no doubt OH has plenty of room for a bonfire.
My that moon was so bright again last night. It was shining through the lounge window, just like someone had a touch
Ros has gone to Peterborough Cathedral today with "Stitchery do" they have a mini-bus that left at 9.45 back around 5.00 pm I believe. Should be a nice day with so much to see. I hope she has remembered her STICK, to she will be struggling during the day.
I said I would do RIB EYE STEAKS tonight. I went through the chest freezer in the garage. NOT THERE. Started on the Fridge freezer in the kitchen. Went from shelf to shelf. Still no luck. I just happened to open the ice draw and there that sat. Twenty minutes searching and very cold hands !!! Not sure if I will do Jackets or chips. Salad and mushrooms, onions. etc.
Ros has said we will go to the hospital tomorrow for my X rays. I must say my back is very sore this morning and I am having use my stick to get around.
How's Gordon this morning Ann ?? feeling a bit better I hope. It is horrible when you have these bugs, you wonder where they come from.
That was a fair old feast you dished up last night Mel, clean plates all round I would expect.
Poor old James, he certainly has had a week of chasing his tail lol lol.Is Jess all settled in now, or is there more to fit in. ?? I see Thomas has settled back into his routine, has he had any more rabbits.
Nice sort of morning here, no sun, but very warm with doors and windows open. It looks like the weekend could be wet and windy. Not what I wanted for Sunday, as I was looking forward to sitting out at Simons having a few beers before dinner and having a good old catch up. It might be we will have to do it in doors.
Just going to start a new book this morning, in the peace and quiet. LOVELY xx
See you all later.

Never mind frank and I did'nt post when I first got up.
Oh has put Alexa on to remind me of the library. She had done it twice now and I expect she will do it at 12noon too.
I too hope Gordon is feeling better today as it seems to be hanging around a bit this time. Not one of those 24 hour bugs? I hope Ann dos'nt get it.
Does Jess have Benji with her in her digs Jane?
How's Thomas this morning? Out hunting and back in his old routine. I keep meaning to ask how your hands are and what about your foot too?? I hope they are much better.
I keep hearing a little noise and think it may be a mouse in the loft as it is just ablove my head. We have wood on the ceiling in hear so there is a gap beteen the ceiling and the wood I should think.

Well TWO HOURS spent sorting out Home and contents insurance. I do it every year, and from my renewal quotes to what I have pain today I have saved over £80.00 on my insurance. With no greater excess and I've got Freezer contents now/ So it proves to LOOK AROUND when it comes to renewal of any insurance.
The steaks are thawing on a plate. I have done mushrooms, onions and chips. Ros will do the salad when she gets home.
Yes Jane how is your extremities (hands and feet) LOL You haven't mentioned them, so I assumed they were getting better.
Is there anyway to can get a trap up between the ceiling and the wood, that you can get access too. As if you catch the little blighter, you will need to be able to get it down. You won't want that rotting up there.
Lots of big black clouds floating above. I knew I should have had a go at the lawns, but to be honest, I just don't care today. So I am going back to my book.
Did you go to the library Mel ??

Afternoon All,
Warm and a bit breezy here now and the sun has gone in.
OH had a good night's sleep and apart from feeling worn out things are almost back to normal thanks. He's pottered up the garden to hang some towels out, enjoyed a small lunch and, although he rarely watches daytime tv, he is now watching the cricket!! :-) I can tell he's feeling better today as he's been making quips and taking the mickey out of me!! lol Not sure if all the indigestion I had was a mild form of it, but I'm hoping I won't get it now. The disinfectant and hand gel have been out and used liberally so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I've not heard the 'snow down south' saying before Gill. It's funny what equivalents there are in different areas. We always talked about the 'clothes horse', but a work friend from the north had us in stitches one day when she was talking about her 'clothes maiden!!'
I'm tackling the toms and beans again this afternoon. The toms just need washing, then I can put them in the stash of margarine type tubs I save to freeze.
I hope your finger you trapped hasn't turned blue as well Frank!! It would be good if you could sit outside at Simon's on Sunday. We are going to Dunchurch as there is a bead sale there. It's the Welsh couple that travel to different venues with their van most weekends. It's held at a small sports place and OH usually goes and watches the match that's on while I find what beads I want. He won't be too chuffed if it's raining! That's a nice trip out with Stitchery Do. I have never been inside the Cathedral, despite going there shopping a few times with mum.
Abbie's stepfather doesn't seem to be a very nice man if Abbie has had to take action like that. It's good she is liking her flat though and is getting help with things.
Are you going to stick a mouse trap in the loft Mel? We still have our row across the front end of the garage!! That's good you found another home for some of the apples. I bet folks are really pleased with all these gifts. Did you used to sell them on your table when you had it?

Afternoon All Aren't the evenings drawing in now. It is getting quite dark already.
Frank,I am often routing through the freezer for things I am sure are there but can't find what I am looking for. Probbly because we have already eaten them LOL I quite fancy a nice juicy steak. That may well be on the cards for the weekend. I am sure James would enjoy one. He is not going anywhere this weekend.I meant to ask him how many miles with all the driving he had to do. He and Jess are going to the new Forest for a few nights soon. It could be next week but I'm not sure.It is partly to celebrate her Masters Degree and her Birthday which is on the 13th.
My hands are sooooo much better thank you.But I do have a couple of quite sore patches on my middle finger and the side of a thumb. My foot and scalp have almost cleared :-D. I think I have an appointment with the Dermatologist again at the beginning of Oct.That wiill be three months of being on these tablets .
It sounds as though OH has turned the corner as they say Ann.He must be feeling better if he is coming out with his funny comments again and taking the mickey :-D
Our Runner Beans have finished :-( :-(.. I am gutted. Chris didn't put as many wigwams up this year :-S Mel you were so lucky to have been able to get rid of so many of your apples. Everyone seems to have had so many this year ,and the same with Plums.
I don't know if Thomas is still finding Rabbits(he hasn''t brought any home .But he is getting plenty of mice.Chris said when he was down the garden earlier Thomas just strolled past him with one in his mouth. He always eats them on the patio and leaves the grotty innards :-S
Chris is going ot a council meeting at 6. All to do with the new developments.(not the one behind us).But the other 55,000 homes, roads, etc etc.Normally Fitz would go with him but he has been away today and is picking his OH up from Birmingham Airport as she has been in Turkey for a few days with their youngest son and his wife.
I keep thinking about the wedding . It was such an amazing do. The owners of the venue have said that when they update their website this weddding will be on there as Wedding of the Year :-D :-D My hip has been playing up something dreadful and I put it down to Hannah dragging me on the dance floor (when everyone was a little sizzled ) and dancing to that song Come on Eileen !!! plus some other crazy songs. I felt I had had a good Cardio Vascular work out LOLOL .. I actually felt quite sick and could barely get my breath !!! I did enjoy it though :-D :-D. Just suffering now though.I won't be doing that again anytime soon. I was quite happy just watching everyone else until Hannah pulled me out of my seat.
So many people at the wedding said how much alike Janice and I are. Little did they know we are not blood related. Mel I remember your Mum saying just the same thing when we came to see you. :-D
I have a feeling there might be a little rain in the air just the fine stuff at the moment . I do feel so bad for the people affect by this terrible Hurricane in the Caribbean .It must be so frightening . We are so lucky here that we never get this awful kind of weather. We moan when we have a few spots of rain.Should just think ourselves lucky .
New programme tonight Safe House. Looks like it is my kind of thing :-)

I have been having trouble getting on here and sent a message to support and then I got on here straight away afterwards.
I have never heard the "Snow Down South" expresion before either. I suppose different areas have different saying same as they have different names for cuts of meat.

Well Ros is home. Not a good day, when they arrived at Peterborough they were told the exhibition had closed and gone to Salisbury Cathedral . No one bothered to let Carol know even though it was booked by her with her number and email address. The long and short of it was, they offered them a free tea/coffee and a tour of the Cathedral. It didn't take that long, hence she was home by 4.00 pm.
She has been topmost a parcel for Julia's granddaughter who lives in Cornwall, and went to Tesco to buy a dressing gown she liked for another present from me for her Birthday. Better getting something she liked, than me getting something that she might turn her nose up at !!!
Val (Sid's wife) told Ros the Val next door has given up the Choir as she can't find the songs before they are lost finished. (I told you she was going funny) Not sure if it's Parkinson's. I have asked Tony but get a negative response. So Ros is going back this evening. I will have a nice evening without Soaps !!!
Off to get dinner ready, see you later.
