Morning Mandy and all,

Dry this morning so far but grey skies a bit with it. We have had some sunshine this mroning but I just missed it as I did'nt get up till 25 to 12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a great sleep only getting up once in the night.

Enjoy your day Frank with Simon and Sally and don't fall off the plank or you will be getting told off from all of ua again. :-| :-| :-|

I forgot to tell you this, yesterday after feeding the big girls I looked inthe nest box as usual expecting nothing and there in one corner was a nice fresh egg. I came back to the house beeming :-D :-D :-D When I went round in the afternoon with their corn I just had another peep in the nest box and low and behold another egg!! I was so surprized as I have'nt had any eggs for weeks and weeks now and have actually bought a dozen and a halve over these weeks. Oh has been complaining that they are'nt eggs as he knows them.

Afternoon All,

It's raining quite steadily here now. I got some nice beads at the Bead Fair this morning. I was the first customer so had the pick of things before others arrived. An elderly chap there started following me and showing me everything, then when I moved to another part of the hall he followed me. Next thing his wife (I think?) grabbed him by the back of the collar and pulled him towards her telling him quite sharply to stay with her. While I was queueing to pay he appeared at the side of me again, just as OH had walked in and towards me, and was trying to put his arm through mine!! OH's face was a picture!! I got served then and OH said he'd pay for what I had which was nice. As we walked out I said to OH how things change and that when young it would be fun to be pursued by a man, but not when you are older and they have dementia!!

I hope plenty of people turned up for Richard's barbeque Anne. It's good he does it for charity. Miss Dynamite won't be bouncing around so much when she has the op will she!!

I hope Frank is enjoying his visit and hope he is having better weather.

That's nice one of the 'girls' has started laying you some nice eggs Mel. I bet you and your OH have been missing them as well. Others aren't as nice. My word you did have a good sleep last night!! :-0 You must have needed it though.

OH has gone to a match at Coventry so I have a few hours when I can get on with things! lol. :-)

Afternoon All

I have been asleep on the settee all afternoon. I just feel yuk today. I am wondering if it is to do with the flare up of my skin on my hands and my painful hip.I am just so tired it is ridiculous.Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

Ann,how funny that the man latched on to you. Did you resemble his wife at all ? At least he was quite harmless . Maybe he just fancied a Blue Eyed Blonde :-D :-D

Mel ,lets hopeyou begin getting plenty of eggs now that the girls have started laying again. You have missed having your own eggs for ages . Crikey you had a good lie in this morning.

It wasn't the best day for a BBQ yesterday Ann. I hope that Richard and his friends managed to enjoy it,stayed dry and raised plenty of money
I must have missed a post about Ruby. Is she going in to be Spayed?

Mandy Chris is always saying I should have my hearing tested when I go to Specsavers. But I did have it done a few years ago and all was fine. I do know that my right ear is not as clear as my left but nowhere near the stage of having hearing aids.
The one who does need his hearing tested is Fitz !!!!.He keeps saying he should but as usual never does anything about it
:-S Typical .

Our fire and chimney are all ready for when we decided it is time. The chap who did the sweep and clean said we obviously used good wood as there was little tar up the flue. Good to know that.We get all our wood from Boughton Estate and have never had a problem with it so we stick with them. I did buy one load from the garden shop a couple of years ago and it wasn't all dry ,so I won't get it there again.
We have put the heating on this afternoon for the first time since about April /May.
The wind is a blowin' and a miserable afternoon.

I do hope Frank has enjoyed seeing Simon's boat and spending some time on it.(and that he is all in one piece :-D :-D ) Did he say they were going to just be moored up or going for a little trip down the canal?

Thomas has appeared .He has been asleep on our bed this afternoon. He NEVER does that.I must try and get him to go out.

BIL and SIL came after lunch and did give us warning so the rest of the morning was tidying, dusting and cleaning the loos. I have just had a little rest from all the nattering and come on here after getting the Error page again.

Its been quite windy here again today but we hav'nt had quite so much rain today. Its now getting dark and I must shut the girls in and feed the hogs and rustle up something for tea as oh has gone off cheese and biscuits every Sunday night.

See you later.

Evening all

We've had lovely weather apart from 10 minutes ago when the heavens opened, it was more like a cloud burst than rain and I'm sure there was a bit of hail in it. I was outside at the time so got soaked coming back in doors. It went dark and even a few of our solar lights came on. It's stopped now, so that's the garden watered LOL.

We've been in the garden again, this time taking all the pots plants out of the borders that have starting dying back and then we moved a few pots around to fill in the gaps, it all looks tidy again now.

Did Richard enjoy the BBQ Anne? Hope it didn't rain and they raised lots of money for the Charity.

I've been the same as you Jane and slept for almost four hours this afternoon. I haven't slept properly these past few nights so it had all caught up with me. I feel much better now and more refreshed. Hope you are feeling better now.

I wonder how Frank got on with Simon today, hope the weather wasn't to bad for the journey.

You slept well last night Mel, you must of needed it like I did this afternoon. How lovely to have some eggs after so long not having any.

How nice to have the pick of the beads Ann, what did you buy, are you making something new now? That man following you around must of felt a bit uncomfortable, his wife didn't handle it very well, did she?

I typed this post a few hours ago and forgot to post it.....silly me :-D

At first I thought the man was going to be one of those older 'clever dick' sorts Gill that think women find them funny and make wisecracks that are not! Then I noticed that slightly uncertain look in his eyes and quickly realised he wasn't quite 'right.' Once his wife grabbed him I was pretty certain he may have dementia. He was just acting like he thought he knew me, probably because I seemed friendly and smiled at him. He was harmless like Jane said and maybe thought I was his wife or someone he knew. I thought after how difficult for his wife as you would have to take him with you wherever you went as you couldn't leave him on his own.

It sounds like most have been catching up on their sleep today!! lol. We have also given the heating a quick blast tonight as it is quite chilly.

Off to watch Strike now!!

I've just re-read your earlier post Ann, I didn't realise he had dementia. Like you said he probably thought he recognised you as someone he new. It's so sad isn't it? I can sympathise with his wife, it can't be easy for her either. I remember my granddad having dementia, it was so upsetting to see. At one point he thought he was back in the war and another time he thought my mum was his mum. It lasted 5 years before he passed away.

OH has rang his mum tonight and his brother was there visiting so he had a nice chat with him too. He said he was feeling okay apart from being a bit tired and feeling a bit sick, so that was nice to hear as he has been quite poorly with the Chemo. He has to carry on with the Chemo until November so it looks as if they are giving him twice the amount they first said. He will be having scans so he'll know if it's helping or not then.

Going to watch a bit of TV then I'm off to bed. See you all tomorrow.

Morning all,

So wet and very windy here this morning but we have had some bright spells of sunshine as well.

Enjoyed the new Strike last night and can't wait to see the next part. A bit gory though.

Gave my SIL a big bag of apples to take home with her yesterday so that was another bag out of the way and not wasted.

Morning All,

A bit windy and threatening rain here. I've been to the dentist for a checkup first thing. As soon as he saw me he said, 'that's good she's smiling' so I said 'don't you do anything to change that will you' and made him laugh. All was well so that's done till the next time now. Then we went to do a shop at Sainsbury's and have just packed it all away. At last I seem to have got OH trained to put all the fridge stuff together so it's easier to unpack. Our fridge freezer is in the uti where it is cooler and you can just carry the whole bag of stuff to the worktop next to it instead of to and froing from the kitchen!

I wonder how Frank got on yesterday with seeing his son and the boat.

We enjoyed Strike to Mel. I'd never thought about people with one leg needing an automatic to drive before. That's good you have found another home for a bag of apples!

Off to the nearby carvery now. We both find we only need the 'small' plate one now and with a pot of tea for two costs less than £13 so is good value.

Good morning to you all, Evening Kim,

My, you lot have been catching up on your sleep, it's a wonder you slept last night.

Ann I bet you thought you had "PULLED" I can see me getting like that. Roa would put a chain on me !!!

We had a great day out yesterday. We arrived at S and S at 11.00 am were straight off to where we had to drop our car off. on the way to the mooring at a farm on the Canal, where we were coming back too. We got in Sally car and went onto the mooring. Simon got us on board, and untied the boat.We spent three hours going along the canal. We went through SIX LOCKS, and poor old Sally was the lock master. running along the tow path with her handle in her hand.!!!There was a lot of traffic on the canal, and we had to queue to get into the locks. We had the Central Heating on as it was raining and windy. We went through BRAUNSTON TUNNEL about one and a half miles long. I couldn't get over how competent Simon was in handling the boat. It's 58 foot long, has a nice bathroom, kitchen and can sleep SIX It's full of cupboard and space for lots of things. They made us most welcome. Tea, coffee, A keg of HOB GOBLIN BEER for Simon and Me. Well more for me as Simon was driving. We moored up to where the car had been left, then the fun started. I had to get of the boat onto the canal path, and climb about 20 gravel steps with no hand rails. I only tripped over once getting off and once going up the steps. (too much beer ) ??

Sally had made a lovely beef casserole which had been cooking all the time we were out. They left us while they went off to get the other car. As soon as they arrived back we were called into the dining room, where she bought in dishes of vegetables, roasted new potato's and Cauliflower Cheese. Followed by Apple and Blackberry Crumble, custard and cream. Red and white wine. As Ros doesn't drink she had orange juice. We got home around 7.30 pm Totally whacked out. I was in bed by 10.00 pm I did ring them both to thank them for a wonderful day.

Ros has been to see the nurse this morning as the cut on her foot is still weeping and very sore. She has been given Iodine to bath it in, which she is already doing nd more patches to keep it covered.

Horrible wet morning here today. We really should go to the hospital for my X ray, but i really don't feel like going out.

Frank

Frank Report 11 Sep 2017 12:52

Forgot to mention about the dogs. Sally had a Brown Labrador, that has taken to Simon, so that's classed as his dog. Sally's son had a French bulldog, and asked if she would look after it while he went on Holiday. When he returned, he said to his Mum you can keep him, as I don't want him anymore. So they have two dogs. Both wonderful temperament , and affectionate. The little bulldog wouldn't leave Ros and I alone. When S & S go on the boat, the dogs go too and have their cages for them to sleep in. Both S & S love th outdoors, so the dogs get plenty of long walks.

Jan rang this morning. She is coming up this weekend to take her grandson Alexander back to Devon for a week, and ask if we would like to go down, and she would drop us off when she brings him back. So it looks like we will be in Devon for Ros's birthday.

It all happens here !!!!

I,m so pleased you had a lovely day out yesterday Frank. Good company, good food and drink and a relaxing trip along the canal. Shame about the steps though and with no rail it must have been hard for you. Did you have your stick with you?

Gillx

Gillx Report 11 Sep 2017 13:38

Afternoon all

Wet and windy here today so I've been finishing the pot lids in the greenhouse, they are all done now, so that's a another job out of the way.

It sounds like you had a great time with Simon and Sally Frank, I hope you didn't hurt yourself when you fell though. The meal sounded lovely, the casserole was just the thing when it wet and windy. How nice they have two dogs now and take them with them when they go on the boat. The dogs will be company for each other too. So you're off to Devon, let's hope the weather is kinder to you this time.

So another bag of apples gone now Mel, it won't be long before there's no more left. Could you not put some in bags on a table at the bottom of your drive, free to anyone who wants them, I'm sure they'll go in no time if you do.

I'm the same as you Ann, packing all the fridge and freezer shopping together, it's so much easier to unpack that way. Pleased to hear the dentist didn't take your smile away :-D

Going to sort out some more of my stuff this afternoon, I didn't get round to doing my CD's and DVD's the other day, so that'll keep me busy. I can do it while I watch a film with Sandra that I recorded, before OH returns home from his mates.

It's really raining now so I'm glad the outside jobs are finished.

All I need to do now is finish off the front garden. The side fence needs fixing and I want to take a Hebe out and put in a pot as I have a large space that needs filling in the back garden to finish off the bottom of the new border. The side gate in the front needs replacing but we'll probably get a professional to do that and we need to tie up the hedge as it's starting to fall onto the path, I'm sure the council will have something to say about that if we don't sort it out soon. So a bit more to do before the winter gets here.

Mel Fairy Godmother Report 11 Sep 2017 15:39

Still very windy here and we have had a few tiny showers.

The mealworms came on Friday and they come in a cardboard box with half inch hole down the sides and ends. Inside they are in a plastic woven sack with a large twist of wire on it and inside that are the worms in a few sheets of newspaper.
I went out to clean the back door and heard a rustle in the box so I flipped it on its side and out of one of the holes came a tiny shrew which headed off across the patio with a worm in its mouth. I had to laugh but wondered just how many the little blighter had eaten over the weekend?

Jane Report 11 Sep 2017 16:53

Afternoon All

What a smashing day you had Frank.Even with just a little stumble. The boat sounds amazing and room for two dogs too :-D
Many years ago my parents and sister went on a Canal boat holiday for a week. Dad found a Collie that must have been left behind from a boat and so they looked after it for a day or two until Mum said Dad had to take it to a Police Station .Dad was gutted as he would have loved to hae kept the dog. But Mum was never a dog lover so that was that.

Gill the weather is not looking good what with strong winds forecast . I hope you manage ot get some of the jobs done in the garden. I think there is a wind warning for Wednesday here.. It has been a day of showers and sun with a fair breeze. But pleasantly warm. Chris has taken my car out this afternoon to test the SatNav as we are taking muy car to Suffolk. The Satnav is pretty rubbish on my car so the big Map Book will be coming too :-D.

Ann that Carvery sounds a real bargain .Is this the new place you found? What did you have to eat today?

Cheeky Shrew Mel !! :-D :-D.. He has found a good stash of food there with the Mealworms :-D

I fell asleep last night with my earrings in. One has gone missing and we have hunted high and low and just have no idea where it is. It is one of a favourite pair I wear most days at the moment. :-(. I am hoping it will eventually turn up. When I was searching I pulled the bed out and found a big dog chew !!!!!. I think it has to be one of Benjys. It can't be from Chester .I am sure I must have cleaned under that bed since we lost him :-D :-D

Rain coming down sidways here at the moment !!!!!!!! Thomas is sleeping through it in the summerhouse. He won't be poking his nose out of the cat flap just yet. I am hoping we don't get any power cuts or the TV going off as I want to see the new programme Liar tonight .
I need to put some lights on as it is so dark .

Gillx

Gillx Report 11 Sep 2017 16:54

Oh dear Mel, I bet that was a shock when you saw the Shrew. Hope he hasn't eaten all the mealworms over the weekend and there were plenty left over for you to use. The sun has come out now and we finally have a lovely blue sky. Still not very warm though.

I've just made a chicken casserole for dinner, it's now in the oven, I've made enough for two days so if the weather stays cool it'll warm us up nicely :-)

Annx

Annx Report 11 Sep 2017 16:57

Oh Mel I bet that little shrew couldn't believe it's luck finding all those mealworms!! lol.

I think it was OH who thought I'd 'pulled' Frank. lol :-) What a great day you had yesterday, a ride on the boat, great food and drink and more doggie friends that sound really good. It sounds like Simon is an old hand with that long boat. I wouldn't fancy taking one through a tunnel. I can see Mel thought the same as me that you needed your stick, but at least you didn't end up being fished out of the canal. :-0 Now you are gadding off to Devon again. You put us all to shame the way you and Ros are so active and get about! I hope her foot soon heals as it must be a nuisance walking when it is so sore.

Gill, great minds think alike as I am going through a mass of paperwork at my desk. It is all littering the surfaces and I'm getting fed up that nowhere seems to be straight here at the moment. We've either got too much stuff or this place is too small for us now!! :-) I suspect it is that we have too much stuff that needs a good sort out. OH has just been busy doing a list of jobs he needs to do after I heard him arrange yet another footie match to go to tomorrow night and I said did he really have time with all there is to do just now. That soon got him whirring!! lol. :-D Can you not prune the hedge back that's at the front Gill? It sounds like you are getting close to finishing your garden now. I got some mauve pansies for my front wall pots today so will go and plant them later. I can do it in the greenhouse so won't get wet if it rains.

Gillx

Gillx Report 11 Sep 2017 17:04

I didn't see you there Jane. Sorry to hear you have lost an earring, that happened to me last year, I never did find it so had to go and buy some new ones. I paid extra for some good backs and so far they've never come off, unless I take them off myself that is :-)

Yes, I've just checked the weather for the rest of the week and it's not looking good. OH is taking our car for it's MOT in the morning so will get wet walking home if the forecast is right. At the moment we are doing what we can in the gardens around the weather. I was lucky today as the job I had to finish could be done in the greenhouse.

We had problems with our Sky TV last night with all the rain, it was that bad we couldn't understand what was going on with the programmes. Luckily we have a set top box which seemed to be okay so we watched the programmes on the +1 channels, so we didn't miss them.
I'm watching Liar tonight too, but I'm not sure if it's going to be my sort of thing.

Gillx

Gillx Report 11 Sep 2017 17:11

I seem to be missing posts today, now I've missed your post Ann :-)

I've finished sorting through my DVD's and most of my CD's. I had a pile of CD's on the dinning table for ages and they were getting dusty so today was the day to sort through them. I can finally see the table now LOL. Just a few more CD's to go through in the cupboard, but that can wait for now as they are my favourites and I listen to them all the time. I'm trying to put them into some sort of order so finding the one I'd like to listen to will be easier. Well, that's the plan anyway.

It's handy having a greenhouse to work in isn't it? OH ended up finishing off the frames in the greenhouse the other day as it started raining and he'd almost finished. Good job I don't have any plants in there at the moment. ;-)
