Evening all, TWO HOURS of Soaps, so I am out of the way.
Ann, I got a letter through the post from the Drs. Saying as I have received this letter you are entitled to a "shingles" jab, so I just rang to make the appointment. Weather it's an age related thing I don't know. I can't think it's a health issue as apart from my Stroke 13 years ago, I have been in quite good health. If I were you I would ring your surgery and ask the question. They may tell you if or not you can have one. I know you are still a youngster, but you never know LOL LOL.
Sorry to hear that "TATTY" passed on today Mel. Was it just old age, or was she ill ?? As you say roll on October when you can replenish your stock.
Jane that sounds quite complicated that you have made. I've never heard of that vegetable let alone cooked with it. Hope it turns out O.K. Is it something your guests would like as a starter. Or will it be "LIKE IT OR LUMP IT" or will you be able to offer them an alternative ??
Mandy, each year that goes by, I can't believe how old I am getting 79 this year. We have been married 40 years come next June, Where have those years gone. Had I stayed married to my EX it would be 58 years on 3rd Oct. I suppose when Lewis gets to 21 will be the big celebration, even though 18 seems to be the in thing now.
We had the remains of the chicken casserole tonight, I put some sausages (cooked) in to warm up for me, and did a nice mashed swede with the spuds and cabbage. Ros stewed a pile of golden plumbs, which she had a bowl of. I don't eat much fruit, but did enjoy a couple of nice ripe pears yesterday, the juice was running down by arms. ;-) ;-) ;-)
I often see Fiona on FB and comment on some of her posts. She seems to be well. I will have to ask her.
What am I going to do for the next 1 1/2 hours ?? eBay here I come.
We have had quite a lot of rain this afternoon/evening, so I don't know how I will get my back lawn cut.
See you in th morning.

I know the shingles jab is available to people aged 70, but I have a feeling they gave a birth date? I just looked it up and it is people aged 70 or 78, but includes some eligible folk missed by the previous programme so includes 79 year olds like Frank! :-) As you can have it at the same time as the flu jab I'll get both done at the same time. That's a great present for Lewis. He will be in front of the mirror all the time, trimming and shaping and might want to have a go on 'Pappy'! lol. :-)
I did have a little taste of the cake Mandy! :-D You know me too well! lol. It was very nice but a bit sweet and rich, but OH soon polished the rest off. I've got a few bead necklaces I want to make. I have made 2 before, a lariat one and a frill one but I want to do them in different colours, also a flat one like a ribbon in superduo 2 hole beads. I am also doing the labradorite stone I'm encasing in beads to make a pendant and there's a pretty frilled cuff I would like to make. I was wondering whether you would be making anything for Christmas this year like the trees you did with the fat quarters. It reminded me when I saw some (the fat quarters) for sale in The Works.
Jane I think I wasn't keen on Chicory when I tried it once, but that was many years ago. It all sounds rather nice though and I hope they like it.
Poor Tatty Mel, best that she went and didn't suffer for ages though. It will be good to give some more girls happy times at your place next month though. Fancy you finding the book after you got another!! I wonder where that ring is hiding?
I see William and Fiona on FB too and also just recently saw Anne Miller........remember her? Fiona does seem a lot better and Carmel seems to be getting stronger and managing a little without her walker.

Pleased to hear your tart turned out nice Jane, it did sound a lovely recipe.
Sorry to hear about Tatty Mel, did you work out what was wrong with her, or was it just old age?
I'm still having problems with my internet, it keeps going off for some reason. I might have to have someone in to look at it.
We've had lovely weather here today. OH ended up putting a whole exhaust on the car yesterday, so all we needed to do was take the car for a long run to sort out the emissions today, so hopefully it'll pass the re-test in the morning.
When we went out we ended up at a garden centre where I bought lots of plants for the winter, so I'll have to pot them into bigger pots, which I also bought while we were there and make up the border for winter now. When we took the plants out that were dying back we noticed that we weren't as lucky as we first thought with the screening as the framework has come away from the fence posts, so we have to take the screening down so we can sort out the framework, we're hoping to do that tomorrow. OH has bought some more wood as he thinks a few more pieces will make it stronger, so it'll probably take us a few days to sort everything out.
Well, I'd better post this before I lose my connection again. Hopefully I'll make it back on here sometime tomorrow. Night Night

Good morning all, Evening Km,
My body doesn't feel as it belongs to me today. I decided to have a lay in this morning. Ros bought me a cuppa and left it on the bedside cabinet. I didn't know it was there until the B@@@dy phone rang in the bedroom. It was my SIL to say she had received my message. Stupid or what !!!! The tea was stone cold :-( :-( but I drank it.
I went to get up. and my back hurt so much, right across the bottom, My shoulder ached and my left elbow. I think these are coming from knocks I had last Sunday on the boat, apart from my back which might be from my trip.
If it wasn't for Ros's birthday next week. I certainly wouldn't dream of sitting in a car for FOUR HOURS. As for the back lawn. It will have to grow away until I get back, we have had rain this morning so no chance of doing it anyway.
Ann, I didn't know weather it was age related or not for the "SHINGLES" Jab. But it seems you know better than I.!!! It's will be good if you can get the flu jab at the same time. We have our flu jab one Saturday morning in October.
Gill by the sound of things, it's back to the drawing board with your screening. I think you will find that the plants you have bought for the borders will pick up once they are in the ground and had a good water.
I have been on the phone for half hour, talking to my friend in Kettering. He rang to see how we are, and got chatting about things in general. I feel as though I have had a bottle of TONIC after speaking and laughing with him. He is a Hymothilac (sp) which he didn't get until age 40, unfortunately his grandson in America is one too. He thinks he caught his from his mother 's side of the family. I know very little about it, so NURSE JANE and DR. CHRIS might be able to enlighten us. ???
Everywhere is so drab and dreary, I am sure we will be getting more rain before long. So I will sit with my book until Ros comes home with lunch.
See you later.

Morning Frank and all,
Some sunshine this morning but what I would call watery sun. Only a little and then cloudy again. There are only a few patches of blue sky but enough to make a sailor a pair of trousers as my nan would say.
I had that dreadful indigestion again last night and its really getting me down now so I think a trip to see the doc is in order. I hate going to the doc's and wasting my time.
Sorry you are still aching all over Frank. Cutting the lawn the other day would'nt have helped on top of your trip. We just don't mend as quickly as we would like to as we get older. I am always getting cross with myself if I can't do something I used to be able to do.

Well it brightened up a bit, so I got the mower out. I managed to do round the edges and mowed three lines before I feel A over H, tripping over the cable. Then down came the rain. I unplugged the electric, and was getting the mower away when Ros appeared. She took over and put it away for me. Then about 15 minutes ago she decided to carry on with the mowing. It started to rain again, so she put everything away. It's now stopped so she's at it again. I haven't told her of my fall,
She bought back a nice tin of Crab meat that I have just had in a roll. I have also had a nice fresh cream doughnut.
I can't stop shaking at the moment, so I am going to have a lie down.

You silly boy Frank you'll have to remember to go a little slower and watch where the cable is. I hope you feel better after your lie down.
It stayed quiye bright here this morning and after lunch oh said he would mow the back lawn where I feed the hog as it was getting very long. I went out and picked all the branches off it from the ash tree and there were some purple clouds to the east and we had a couple of claps of thunder but no rain. I moved all the fence and lights and bowls and washed those up while oh mowed but the ground is so wet he could'nt do much. He moved all the fallen branches from the ash tree that were in the orchard and I picked up a barrow load of the small stuff. He mowed a bit of the orchard under the ash tree but that was too wet aslo so we came in and had a cuppa.

Afternoon Everyone
Mel, I am sorry to hear that Tatty has gone. :-( No more suffering for her.
Frank, not another tumble over the cable !!!. Good Job Ros didn't find out :-D.. Now you just take it easy before you go tomorrow and rest up your achy bones and joints. It will probably be an uncomfortable journey with 4 hours stuck in the car again. You will be able to enjoy your strolls though along the seafront weather allowing. I hope it is better than today. My word we have had some really heavy downpours this afternoon. I kept trying to call Thomas in and could hear him meowing in the hedge.Eventually he made the big sprint in flew in through the patio doors .He was a wet puss. Now all dry we have just done his flea treatment and he has legged it ,and it is raining again lol I hate having to do this to him each month but it is a job that has to be done. He will not be right now for the next 24hrs or so as he will be licking his fur and ingesting the potent drug :-S. At least though I can be sure he will have no fleas when he goes to the Cattery on Monday. I haven't seen any sign of fleas but he has been scratching his ears for the last couple of days so he may have had his head down a rabbit hole or 2 and got some down his ears.
Oh Gill, that is disappointing for you to find the Screening has not held up. As you say though maybe just a few extra bits of wood will sort out the problem.I suppose I must soon think about getting some plants to replace all the Geraniums in the pots and window basket ,but they seem to still be flowering so I will leave it a little longer. Has the car passed the MOT?
Mel it won't be wasting your time to go and see the DR. If this horrible indegestion is bothering you so much it is well worth a visit. I went to get my prescriptions this morning but couldn't get near the Surgery in time before the pharmacy shut as there had been a very nasty accident along Northfield Ave and the road was closed off so everything was backed up and it was chaos. So I will have to go again on Monday morning I will be that way anyway as I am picking Fitz up when he has dropped his car off at the garage to get things fixed before his long journey to Pembrokeshire on the 22nd.
Haemophiliac I think it the word you were were looking for Frank. I think it is males far more than females who have this horrible thing. It is when the blood doesn't clot properly and if someone has a cut or injury it can be really quite a serious thing. That is all I know about it.It must be awful for anyone who has it as they must have t o be so careful.
That starter I did last night was ok.. But just ok.Nothing special so I won't bother again.I enjoyed it more than Chris ,he said it was a bit bland. Simple meal tonight. Pasta with sauce(I will add some chopped mushrooms and some lardons),and Garlic Bread.
Happy Birthday to Chelsea today :-D <3.. I hope that the weather has been good enough for her to use her new Skateboard Mandy :-D
I think the weather is looking dry for when we are in Suffolk next week(fingers crossed anyway). I just have a couple of jackets in the washing machine to take with me. I thought they may have a few spiders and cobwebs in after hanging for months un worn on the coat stand, and I don't want any unpleasant surprises LOL. We will take my car as it hardly ever gets a really long run.
The rain is coming down again :-|

Evening all,
Showery here all day so no washing hung out today.
Mel sorry you've lost Tatty ,but what a good life she has had with you ,not to long before you save the next lot ,it must seem like paradise to them after being couped uplaying eggs .
Jane , Chelsea's birthday is on Monday she will be ten , its hard to buy for her really but she does like clothes and craft things and we usually give her some money so she can get what she likes .
Colin had his hearing test this afternoon,he needs hearing aids but as he soon has to have his ears sucked out again they will leave the fitting of them until that has been done.
Oh dear Gill thats a shame about the screening coming away hopefully the extra wood will do the trick and hold it all in place .
Sounds as if you have lots of beading to do then Ann , i haven't decided what to make this year for christmas i shall have to have a look on pinterest to get some ideas.
Frank you both have a safe journey tomorrow i hope the weather is good for you so you can have your nice stroll along the front .

Been dry all day but as I shut the chickens in tonight it started raining. While I was in the run and gavethem thier corn one looked a bit strange and I thought she was having trouble doing a poo. I stood and watched her a little while and then I thought she 's going to lay an egg. Good as I only have two for tomorrow and need another for oh. She did and it had a soft shell and the other three turned from the corn trough and hastily ate it, the bu**ers.

Morning all
Just a quickie to let you know I might not be on here today. We managed to get all the framework sorted yesterday and want to try and get all the plastic up today, it's going to take all day we think as we're hoping to attach it a lot more than last time now we have the extra wood to screw it to.
It's raining at the moment but forecast to brighten up in about an hour so we're ready and waiting, if it doesn't then we'll have to do it in the rain as the neighbours dog keeps getting into our garden and we're worried she might get out into the garden at the back of us. I had to chase her around the bottom of the garden yesterday to catch her to give her back to our neighbour a few times. She thought it was a great game but her poor owner was worried she might get out onto the road at the back of us, so he put her inside. I said to him is she grounded, he laughed then, but I think he'll be glad when our screening is back up so she can't get in here. There is a small gap between the fence and the where the hedge was.
I didn't get a chance to come on here yesterday as we were so tired after working all day we had an early night. We didn't have our dinner until gone 9pm either.
Well, I'd better go. If I get a chance to come back on today I'll see you all later. I've not had a chance to read the posts yet so hope everyone is okay. Is it today Frank goes to Devon? If it is I hope the weather is better than here and you have a great time away.

Good morning to to all, EveningKim,
As you can see by the time WE DIDN'T GO. I decided last night that I wasn't up for the journey, and would feel much better in my own surroundings. With that Ros decided she wasn't going to leave me here in case I was taken ill or had a fall. She rang Jan last night about 9.00 pm.
I was in bed by 8.45 last night and up soon after Ros came to bed at 10.45. I sat and watched a bit of Match of the day, then read till about 2.30 am. Slept quite well then until 7.15. Got up and made tea and had my meds.
I'm just out of the shower, will go back and shave after a sit down.
I will take Ros to the Carvery later this afternoon, as we have nothing in the fridge vegetable wise, then it will be back to the armchair for me. If this back pain continues I will have to go and get it checked out. I just hope it's not STONES.
I'll try to catch up with you all later.

A shame Frank that your not going to come down after all but its best you feel comfortable in your own space rather than suffering the journey and being bad away from home. Home is always best when you don't feel up to par. I hope you feel better soon. Sending love <3
I have the washing out too Mandy and I have hoovered and oh is out on the jolly old mower so he's kept quiet. I am just about to start getting the big breakfast ready to cook as I am really hungry now. Not had anything but a cup of tea this morning.
Hope the weather holds so our washing dries. I may put a quick wash in while I do the breakfast.

I just remembered that thinking I was going to Paignton I had the flowers I had ordered for Ros's birthday changed to that address. Now I had to change it back again. They will think I am a right messer !!!
Sun is shining here , and I have just been on the patio and it's nice and warm.
Enjoy your BIG BREAKFAST Mel. and hope YOU ALL have a pleasant day. I'm all showered and shaved and dressed ready to go out later. Roa has unpacked and put away the case I think she is a bit browned off not going to the seaside. She could have gone, as I am sure I would have been fine.

Afternoon All
Mel I have PM'd you re Ann... All is fine.
Oh Frank, I think you have made the right decision not to go this weekend .I am sure Ros will understand even though she may feel a bit cheesed off about missing the trip to the coast. When you don't feel good it is much better to be in your own home .I bet it is stones you have !!! :-S I does sound like it could be . Maybe Flowers will be delivered to Ros at home and Devon LOL what with all the changing of delivery address :-D :-D Jan may end up with a lovely bouquet too :-D
Whata lovely day. It is so warm and in the sun really quite hot.I have been out to get some bits and bobs and to fill the tank up with diesel ready for Tuesday.I couldn't believe how big the queue was at the petrol station. It went right back to the road !!!.There was only one member of staff too to take payments and with some people doing a bit of shopping in there too it took forever to pay and get away.
Mandy there is a lot of dead heading needing doing here .Chris and I did a load but still lots more to do.I suppose it is just that time of year now when things are going over. So OH needs hearing aids then. I bet he wasn't too chuffed about that. Will he have the 'hidden ones' ?
Gill, you should get an awful lot more done today if your weather is like ours now :-D. Fingers crossed the Framework will now hold out at least until the winter has been and gone. It doesn't sound like it such an easy job to do each time.
My Sister was telling me last night that 2 Swans flew over the Nature Reserve and one of them sadly flew into overhead wires and was killed. The other Swan came down but was fine but traumatised and no-one could get near it. That will have been it's lifetime mate that was killed. :-( :-( It is always so sad when something like that happens.
I had a really bad nights sleep last night. I was hot,hip hurt ,needed the loo, weird dreams, the whole shebang .I was reading my kindle for a good hour and a half from about 3am. I think I might just feel a tad wiped out this afternoon !
Mel ,of course I should have remembered it was Don Maclean .. I have tealight holders with Van Goughs Starry Night on :-D :-D They are on my mantlepiece .
Not quite so sunny now .It looks like some big clouds looming.Maybe they will just pass us by :-D
