Ros say's thanks Mel. The sun is still shining here, what a nice change from all the rain.
About midday I made myself a lovely KING PRAWN sandwich with seafood sauce. Ros just had a biscuit as she had had a breakfast. I rang our favourite Chinese to see if they needed me to book a table, as we don't know what time Harvey and family are coming. He said not to worry. We will fit you in even if we are busy. Which I thought was very good of them.
Sid's Val has just turned up to have a chat with Ros. and have a COT. She is having trouble with her car. She had a new battery fitted yesterday, but when she starts the car, and puts it into reverse (automatic) it just cuts out. So it's not the battery. She's going back with it tomorrow. I'm sure it must be a worry if it cuts out while she is driving.
I see there has been another incident on the M1 A strange package has been found under a bridge. Bomb disposal team are on the scene investigating.

Evening all,
A nice sunny day and really hot when we sat out this afternoon.
I had a terrible night ,i woke about two o'clock feeling quite hot so i sat on the edge of the bed and thought i feel sick and i was ,so today i feel quite washed out .
<3 Happy Birthday Ros <3 hope you enjoy your meal tonight and it's better than the carvery you had the other day . No Frank there will be no photo's of me on the skate board LOL :-D
That's very sad Di has lost her little Molly Mel, 15 sounds a good age but that's a long time to have a little friend and then suddenly they are gone ,they are part of the family and you just miss them so much .

Evening all
Lovely sunny day today. We've been busy in the garden again, sorting out the screening, unfortunately some of it is broken so I'll have to fix it tomorrow.
We have had some good news, our cousin has had a little boy, names Freddie last Sunday so we can't wait to meet him.
Not long finished the garden so we're just about to eat. I haven't caught up with the posts so hope everyone is okay.
My neck is a bit sore with all the screws we've put in today........over 400 in total, so after I've eaten it's a bath and any early night, I'm so tired.
It looks like I might be in the garden all day tomorrow as I'm hoping to finish off the screening and put the plants back as it's forecast to pour down with rain on Thursday. Hopefully I'll get back on here tomorrow if I can and also catch up with all the posts.

Gill you seem to have had nothing but trouble with your screening since you put it up. 400 screws is an awful lot.Do you have a rechargable screwdriver?
The parts for the long reach chainsaw came today and it took oh all day to fit them as he had to dismantlel most of it to get the fuel pipe in the tank. He did that and started it and the starter cable broke!!!!!!!!!!!!! He said it was a good day wasted and he was very cross. He has been lookiing online for a cable but can only find them in the USA. He is right put out.
I did a Lidl and Morrisons shop today as I had run out of thethings we like from Lidl so it took me a bit longer than usual and then I forgot my potato croquets and Hash Browns but I can get those up the local shop.
We had the most amazing light come through the garden as the sun went down and it lit up some very dark and strange clouds in the sky to the east. It also lit up some of the trees and I took a few pics but I bet they won't look anything like the actual things I saw. Our big beech tree at the end of the back garden has some branches where the leaves have turned golden and russet and I am wondering if they have been damaged in that strong wind we had last week. When I was watching it blowoing it was swirling about like a huge hairdo in the wind.
Going to watch Robson Green later and Bear Grills.

Morning all,
Mostly grey sky here but a very few blue bits and we have had some sunshine.
When I got up this morning and looked out of the window there was a buzzard sitting on one of our fence posts at the end of the back field and I thought I would take a picture of it. Blow me I forgot all about it till just now so went in the bedroom armed with my camera and it was'nt there. Then I looked a little further along towards our tiny wood and it was on another post. I tried to take a pic but had to lean across the chest of drawers and could'nt keep the camera still for the life of me. I did get two pics of its head.......not the whole thing sitting on the post. It was a long long way away. I expect it was looking for rabbits as thats where I have seen some this year now and then.
O O I have just heard the chain saw fire up!! Must go and see. BBL

Afternoon Mel, and all,
Nothing sort of day here, bit windy and dull. The heating is on as we both feel a bit chilly.
That's a real bummer for the OH MEL, not being able to get parts for his chain saw in the U.K.
With 400 . screws Gill, you could hold up the FORTH BRIDGE. What, and how big is this screening. ??
We all enjoyed our Chinese last night. Steve the Manager had a table for us by the window, overlooking the lake. There were loads of geese and swans coming in to rest up for the night on the lake. It surprised us how quickly the dark came upon us. Lewis was an absolute little Bu@@@r, with an answer for everything. He had Ros and I in stitches.
The M 1 was still closed when we went passed it at 7.30 last night. I haven't seen or heard the local news so don't know when it reopened.
I was out in the lounge again last night once Ros came to bed, and sat reading until 4.00 am. Then low and behold Ros woke me at 6.00 getting back into bed after going to the toilet. She said I had rolled over into her half of the bed, so she couldn't get in. ;-) ;-). Needless to say I am like a wet weekend at the moment, so tired, but daren't go to sleep.

Sounds like you really enjoyed your meal and company last night Frank and Lewis his old self pulling your leg. It must have been lovely to have all the family around on Ros's birthday. I expect you were quite excited by the time you went to bed with all the chatter and jokes and thats why you could'nt sleep.

Ros had our "TIN" cupboard out a couple of weeks ago. Would you believe there was nothing out of date.!!! The sort of tins we keep are Baked Beans, Tomato's, soups, Sardines, and Salmon. Pilchards (for me) which I love with Bread and butter for the odd Sunday evening tea/supper, corned beef as a stand by. She usually buys it fresh with the hams etc.
Ros had made two more quilts this afternoon, and is now hand stitching the borders.
I am going Mince beef with onions and carrots in a nice gravy. Mash, cauliflower in cheese sauce, peas and carrots. The mince is all cooked, so just needs warming up when I boil the spuds and P & Cs. Cauliflower in cheese sauce will go in the oven to finish off at the same time.
Still a nothing sort of day here, lots more clouds now and quite a breeze. We aren't out tonight, so I will lock up the front doors and put the keys away. (I do keep the front door locked all day anyway).
Any luck with the Chain Saw Mel ??
Has anyone heard from Anne and Auntie Jane ??

No I hav'nt heard from Jane or Anne.
I think he gave up with the saw when it started raining and he had back ache from holding the saw up to cut some branches off. He made a throttle cable and so he has cut a bit more of the tree up.
Frank its my tin cupboard too but has my baking things in the top and glasses and packets of rice and pasta and stir fry sauces in there. The tins and jars are in the bottom and I hav'nt got there yet. There is only half to do anyway as I did the other halve a while ago. I shall do the same with this side and put the tins in a plastic box so I can pull it out and see whats in there.

Hello Everyone, It's me :-D
We were very lucky to avoid that accident on the M5 as we were there at about the time of the accident as we were later starting than usual. We have also never seen as much traffic on the journey before. The weather has been great with plenty of sunshine.......till the drizzle today and looking outside now all I can see is sea mist!
We had a giggle on Monday evening as we thought our anniversary was Tuesday and OH suddenly realised it was Monday!! How we both got it wrong I don't know!! lol.
Despite seeing the dentist last week and saying a tooth was sore, he thought the tooth was ok, but wouldn't you know it, on the night before we set off it started twingeing! It has ached a bit most days, but touch wood, it hasn't lasted long or spoiled things yet. There are 4 new lodges but they are right across the other side and much lower than us so we still have the nice view.
I managed to potter down to the higher levels above the tin mine I painted with the aid of my walking pole and got some nice pics. I hadn't realised it was one they used in the filming of Poldark. The village is tiny with a narrow winding road and there are no signs up to say the mine is there even though it is owned by the NT. The only clue was a car park sign pointing to the cliffs. There was a nice little tearoom next to the car park and a really nice helpful lady serving. The tin mines have grabbed OH's interest now so he wants to get a book on them. We were going to go to the one with a working beam engine, but the engine isn't working at the moment as it needs a repair so I think that will be another time now. We had our usual treat of delicious fish and chips with minted peas today at 'THE SHACK.' They play french cafe music there and wear stripey clothes like french onion sellers! We then went to the bead shop where I bought quite a few new beads!
Hope you are feeling ok now Mandy, it's really horrid when you feel like that. I see Chelsea had a skateboard for her birthday and has no doubt been clattering about on it and probably collecting a few plasters!!
Frank it's good young Lewis is still making you laugh and that you enjoyed your Chinese. It sounds nice by the lake with the birds to watch. Was Ros wearing her birthday watch?
I'm glad you have had a bit of good news Gill with the arrival of young Freddie. I don't think the fence should move now you have put all those screws in. It sounds like you finished it just before the bad weather comes.
What a nuisance about the chainsaw parts Mel. Would there be a long wait for them from America? What a shame you didn't get a pic of the Buzzard before it flew further away. It is really hard keeping the camera steady when you have to zoom things up.

So nice to hear from you Ann and that your having a great time. Those beads will be special now you have bought them on holiday. Are you going to Hartland Quay this time or is it too far?
I love the cornish tin mines too and have been to the one which is restored and working many years ago. They are such a wonder of engineering and those men who built them were geniuses. It must have been a really hard life for the miners and their families.
The weather has turned wet here now and its that horrid fine stuff that gets everywhere.
Well signing out now so see you all in the morning. Night night.

We,ve just had a black dog in the garden worrying the bantams. I could hear them kicking up a stink so went out there and it was at their pen. I chased it away across the garden and then it stood there barking at me. Oh came out and told me to go indoors and he spoke to it and it went off round the back. We have never seen this dog before. It had a collar on and it was all black with blue eyes and fox shape and size.
There are loads of feathers in the bantam run and it must have been pawing at the wire because there is a pot of grit hanging on the door and thats all over the front of the run being pinged out of the coup cup its in. It had a collar on but I did'nt get near enough to see if it had a name or phone number.
Trouble is that if it now knows they are there it could be back.

Good morning from a dreary Northants, Evening Kim,
That's the last thing you need Mel, dogs worrying the chickens. That will certainly put them off laying. Would it be a good idea, to put a notice in the local shop with a description of the dog, and a WARNING that if this continues THE DOG WILL BE SHOT which I believe would be your rights by law. Like a farmer who have sheep worriers.
Hi to Liz also, I do tend to send her the odd funny eMail as and when I get them. But since my old School Pal passed away, I don't get many.
Simon is coming over tomorrow afternoon to put in my seed potato's that should be rad for Christmas. I just don't seem to have the energy to do it. I'm still aching all over like an old man LOL LOL.
Nice to hear from Ann, and that she and G are enjoying the break,. When are you coming home ?? Fancy you forgetting Monday was your Anniversary. That's got to be the sign of OLD AGE !!!
Ros is beavering away making more quilts, while I will sit and do a bit more reading.
Pulled pork tonight with Jacket Potato's and some veg.
