Thanks Mel, your rain has arrived here now, really miserable., with the breeze as well.
I've got the evening to myself tonight. What shall I do ?? I think I might see if there is anything on Tele, apart from the soaps. !!! I can normally find something on a SKY channel that I enjoy, although Ros would hate. Crime and police programmes tends to interest me, or a good series.
I see we are almost at 2800 pages on the thread this time around. How many would it have been if we hadn't lost the two previous ones ??
We have the AGM at the local Football club this evening, but with Ros at the choir at SEVEN and the AGM not starting until 8.00. There's no way I am walking up there in the dark, on a broken roadway. I could end up in the allotments, and not be seen again till the SPRING when I would grow up again LOL LOL.LOL
I see we might get the tail end of these Hurricane's, I expect it will hit Scotland and Northern Ireland before affecting any of us down here. Lets hope there is no damage from them.
We decided to have a tin of sweetcorn with the pulled pork and Jacket's so no preparing vegetables for me tonight. What a nice change.
Be good, I might see you later this evening.

BOO! I'm back :-D
Just got home and am having a nice cuppa so thought I would pop in before unpacking and sorting things. We have arrived home to horrible rain, after leaving a beautul warm and sunny Suffolk.I wa in a sleevless top this morning !! It has been such a short visit but we have enjoyed ourselves. Mainly tootling around some of our favourite places.Southwold,Adleburgh and Snape Maltings. No paddling for me though as is was a bit on the breezy and nippy side right on the coast yesterday. But so lovely just to see and smell the sea .I have had my fix :-D :-D. The place we stayed in was not a hotel as such but a restaurant with 31 rooms :-D.Sounds like a Hotel to me LOL.We had a garden room which was one of a row of wooden chalet rooms all joined in a row. Each with a little terrace to sit out on which was really pleasant. The food was brilliant and head honcho was a lady called (I think Ruth Watson ) who used to be the Hotel Inspector on TV. I said to Chris I woudn't want to mess with her.She did seem a bit scary :-D.
So home we are and I see James has not eaten any meals I left for him :-S.. I bet he picked up Takeaways is he was late getting home from work. At least I don't need to think about food tonight as we can all have one ot he meals he hasn't had :-D
I see a new baby in the family Gill.Little Freddie. That is lovely happy news
:-D :-D
Ann,you seem to be having a great time in Cornwall.Hope your poor tooth doesn't cause more problems before you get home. Happy belated Wedding Anniversary. You both had to wish eachother belated wishes too I see :-D :-D :-D
Mel,I hope you can catch the dog. He could be lost and hungry. Or could he be visiting the big house and got out? I hope all your Chooks will be ok if he is still on the run.If he has a collar then hopefully there will be a tag on it .
I haven't read back through all the posts just the ones that came up on the page .But will do that later. I need to finish this lovely cup of tea .

Afternoon all
Nice and sunny here after a rainy start to the day. OH has just put some holes in the border to drain the rain away so I can rake it level again tomorrow now the screening is finally finished, then we can put the plants back. It went uneven with us walking all over it to sort out the screening.
We finished the screening around lunch time yesterday so decided to visit OH's mum, she wasn't expecting us so it was a nice surprise for her as she was just watching TV on her own.
It sounds like you've had a lovely time away Jane with nice weather. Looks like our rain has found you, hopefully it'll pass quickly.
How nice to be in Cornwall Ann, we loved it when we visited there a few years ago. Happy Anniversary for the other day. By what you were saying you nearly missed it yourselves LOL. At least you remembered in time.
Hope the dog isn't pestering the chickens to much Mel. It should be micro-chipped so if you do manage to get hold of him you could take him to a vets to find out who he belongs too, if it doesn't say on his tag.
I hope we don't get the tail end of the Hurricane Frank, our garden is wet enough at the moment after all the heavy rain we had this morning. Belated Birthday wishes to Ros. The screening is 90 foot in total and we had to re-do the framework on about 50 foot of it. We didn't put enough wood in the frame when we first did it and it got damaged in storm Doris, so incase we had high wind again we thought it best to strengthen it, then of course we had to put the plastic back and the screening. So a very long job. We didn't realise that some of the screening had got damaged and we couldn't find anywhere who sold it so we had to fix the broken areas before we could put it back up. I've got a lovely blister right in the middle of the palm of my right hand now, it's quite painful too. Never mind the jobs all done now and my hand will soon heal.
After we went to MIL's yesterday we called into the garden centre we go to in November for the Christmas night they do and they were starting to put out their Christmas things, Sandra was very excited...bless her. She couldn't see much as they had put screens up in the areas they display their trees that they decorate. She tried to peep through the small gaps between the panels of screens. They did have a few bits and bobs out in other areas of the shop which she could see, so that was nice for her.
Today I thought I'd go through the things I've bought for Christmas. I buy my presents throughout the year and while I had them all out I decided to wrap them up. I keep the Christmas paper and gift tags in the spare room and thought it would be easier to do them while they were out, rather than put them away and have to get them out again to wrap up.
So that's 12 Christmas presents wrapped up ready for the big day. I still have more to buy, but at least it's a start. Christmas is only 12 weeks on Monday.....where has the year gone????

Evening All,
I'm glad you had some sunshine too Jane and enjoyed pottering around your old haunts! I know just what you mean about 'having your fix' as we have felt just the same breathing some nice fresh air off the sea.
Last night was horrendous and I woke up at 3.00am to the sound of really heavy rain lashing down. The gusts of wind were shaking the lodge and it sounded like buckets of water were being thrown at the windows!! It carried on and kept me awake till about 4.30am when it all calmed down again. I remember laying there wondering where all the little birds would shelter. I expected it to be raining when we got up, but the sun was coming out. We had a roast lunch at a pub in the next village and neither of us could eat it all. Then we visited a few coves today that we haven't visited before that the NT own which was useful as you get free parking if you are NT members. I used my poles again to get up the little pathways but nowhere was steep or rocky and we found a seat where we could sit and enjoy the views. There was a little 12th century church between 2 of the coves and we looked around it as it wasn't locked! The churchyard was a bit spooky, I'll send a pic when we get back and you will see what I mean!! :-0 The temperature has been as high as 19 degrees on the car guage today which is just nice for me and we enjoyed a nice icecream each sitting outside in the sun on the way back.
That must have been the same mine with the beam engine that you visited Mel. There are still more mines that we haven't seen yet, including the Poldark mine, but we aren't keen on doing the underground tour that some have. OH hates closed spaces and I'm not sure my knees will cope if there's much climbing or slippy paths. We need to find out more and perhaps do some another time. What a shame the dog is worrying your chickens. I wonder where it has come from. Is it a big dog only I was wondering if you could catch it in the fox trap? I see your OH has managed to do a bit of a mend on the chainsaw cord so he can use it.
Frank OH is talking about living down here again!! I think we should have done it sooner if we were going to though when we were younger and fitter, but it was always a concern about OH's parents then. Still, it would be nice to spend more time down here. Yes, I think I am finally losing the plot!! I seem to forget more things these days and OH is getting worse too! He never used to forget anything! lol. He doesn't trust himself anymore though. :-)

Well its been a lovely afternoon here with plenty of sunshine.
We've both been out in the orchard clearing up the apple tree. We have piles and piles of apple under the other trees.
Gill I looked at my Christmas cards today and thought I better make a start on writing some but as it was so nice I went outside. The trouble with wrapping up presents this early is I forget whats in them!! :-S
Jane i am pleased you had some good weather for your few days away. We have missed you and Ann too as Frank and I have been talking amongst ourselves.
Its supposed to be nice again tomorrow.

I've written a list of everything I've bought and who I've bought it for Mel, so now they are all wrapped up I don't forget. I haven't started any Christmas cards yet though. What are you going to do with all those apples, it sounds like you have loads? Is there any cafe's who might be interested in having them. You wouldn't want them all to rot under the trees.
It sounds like you are having a lovely time Ann, although the heavy rain in the night didn't sound to nice. I often think about the birds and the squirrels and what happens to them in the bad weather. They must have to go out at some point to find food. Sometimes Rosie battles through the rain for her nuts, but not to often.
I'm taking a look at OH's side of the family tree at the moment. I only went onto the tree to add little Freddie and it took off from there, I was trying to find his great grandparents, I think I've found them now and also the 1911 census, so now have a few of their children to add as well. It'll be nice to add some siblings for OH's granddad and his parents as I haven't done any of that side of the tree yet.
Well, I'd better get back to it before it gets to late.

Good morning to you all, and Liz if you are looking in, Evening Kim,
Woke to to clear blue sky's and a very damp morning, I not sure if we had rain in the night or if it's just a heavy DEW.
For the first time I can remember, I have just used the last two pieces of bread in the house. Roa is going to pop to Tesco to get her odds and sods, she will get the rest tomorrow when she meets Martine.
Glad to see you home safe and sound Jane, and that you enjoyed a couple of days break.
Us Ann back today or tomorrow ?? It sounds as though they have had reasonable weather apart from the frightening storm the other night. I can just imagine the noise that must have made.
Don't mention Christmas, !! Ros buys presents throughout the year for friends. The Families gets purchased, when we know what they want. This year of course we have to include Sally and Simon. I suppose we had better start asking what they want/need.
That certainly sounds a BIG SCREEN Gill, Why do you need it ?? Is it very windy where you are. ? I haven't looked at my Family tree for such a long time. I will have to see if I can find time (JOKE) to spend on it. The days seem to pass me by, not that I do much these days.
I have the seed potato's ready for Simon to put in. I usually push the spade in and wiggle it about and drop the seed into it. Then move along and repeat until they are all used up. They say they will be ready for Christmas, but I see there are only 12 weeks to go, so might be pushing it. They have two chances. ;-) ;-) ;-) I think I read that they take 14 weeks. :-( :-( :-( Where do the weeks go ?? We bought these when we were down in Paignton a few months ago.
Jan is calling in this afternoon when she brings Alexander home. I hope she has had a nice week with him. I think it would have been too much for me, having a two year old around me all week.
I just looked out the back and I can honestly say I can't see one cloud.Just blue sky as far as you can see. Could this be the start of an "INDIAN SUMMER" ???
Off now to get Showered and shaved, see you later.

Morning Frank and all,
Well you can just pass your blue sky down here please Frank and stop hogging it for yourself. We had some sunshine a while ago but now the sky has clouded over and its all grey.
Its another "I can't Beleive its Friday" today and I really don't know where this week has gone. I must have been busy all the time and I woke up this morning thinking it was Thursday.
The Buzzard was on the post again this morning and I may have a good pic of it this time around. I took the tripod in there but had a job to get it between the bed and the chest of drawers. Oh has just come out and asked if I was taking blue movies in there this morning, cheeky devil! ;-)
No dog this morning YET! I must ask Di if she knows anyone with a black dog the sixe and look of a black fox with blue eyes.

Good early afternoon everybody
I have had to keep away from posting for a while as I very stupidly hurt my right wrist by lifting a heavy pot from a high shelf in the utility room. It still feels rather uncomfortable but no way near as painful as it was.
I haven't read any posts yet so I hope everybody has been ok.
I did notice on the later posts Christmas being discussed, I haven't even thought about it yet so will start buying the cards first.
Also pleased to see Jane had an enjoyable break in Suffolk , one of my nephews has just got back from the I.O.W and also enjoyed good weather most of the time.

Nice to see you Anne, I hope you haven't done any lasting damage to your arm.
We still have sunshine Mel, even though the white clouds are now in the sky.The sun is very warm with a light breeze.
I have a "DEEP HEAT" patch on my neck/shoulder, to try to relieve the pain that keep coming back when I exert my right arm. Thanks Jane for mentioning them.
Pam next door collard Ros this morning with loads more stitchery things that she has bought back from Dennis's brothers house. There in one of these hoop type rings that you use for embroidery. It must be almost three foot across. GAWD knows what she's going to do with that. PLAY HOOP-LA LOL LOL
Madam has just decided to dry her hair, about two foot from my right ear. So I am off to the other end of the room, out of the way of all the noise, from the hairdryer.

Well Simon has been and gone. He gave blood this afternoon and came straight from there to put in my seed potato's. He hasn't put them in any order, just dug a hole and dropped one in. They are all over my patch. I will just have to keep my eye on where they come up. He was only her long enough to do that job and have a cup of tea.
Dally his wife who is a senior Para Medic was in charge of that accident down the M1 where that Car transporter went over the central reservation, and killed those people, what a job she gas. If it's anything very serious she has to attend and take over the medics side of things. No wonder she likes to get away on the Canal when she can.
We had a few spots of rain, but now the sun is out again now, and lovely and warm.

Afternoon Everyone
Lovely sunny day (sorry Mel :-D ). Got a load of washing dry including towels ,so I was pleased with that. More to go out tomorrow. Is the heat patch working Frank?. I swear by them and they were so useful on my hip and back when we were away. I know Ann uses them too and also Fitz.
Oh Anne you must have given your wrist a really nasty wrench getting that pot down. The problem with wrists is it is not easy to rest them.Have you had to strap it up?
Thomas is home .He looked very content when I got to the Cattery perched on top of a Scratching post thing. The lady said he spent a lot of time sitting on it watching everything going on :-D.He has been in and out like yo yo all day and has had at least one mouse !.
Mel maybe the Dog has found its way home and you won't be bothered again by him. I hope that is the case as it is horrible thinking of him being lost or even dumped.
I think Ann will be on her way home tomorrow as it was last Saturday when they went.I expect we shall be getting some wonderful pics from her soon :-D
How did the Buzzard pic go Mel.Did you get a good one ? Blue Movie LOL was that wishful thinking for OH :-D :-D
I had the most awful choking fit this morning when my cereal went down the wrong way. It went on for a good 10 mins and I was gagging and wretching .All my windows were open so I just hope my next door neighbours didn't hear me.If they did they must have wondered what on earth was happening .
On the way home yesterday when we stopped off at a favourite Farm Shop for Sausages I also bought 3 frozen Beef Lasagnes that are made on the premises there. So we are having them tonight . I hope they have defrosted as the need to be thawed before cooking. I'll do our own Runners and Peas to go with.
Chris has had a right old do going on with the Inland Revenue today. They had had all the correct info before and Chris knew he owed nothing even though they said he did. Eventually after several phone calls it was sorted and he had an apology as it was them who were wrong. He said he felt quite exhausted at the end of it all.He owes nothing :-D Must crack on.

Evening all
Very dull here today with a bit of fine rain every now and then, so we haven't bothered putting any of the plants back in the border as the ground is far to wet to take all the weight, we don't want them sinking. Hope it dries out over the weekend as it's forecast to be dry for a couple of days, then we can put everything back where it belongs.
Sorry to hear about your coughing fit this morning Jane, it's quite frightening when that happens, pleased to hear you're okay now.
Yes, Frank it is a big screen and that is only a part of what we have done, we've gone all around the whole garden. Since we took the garage away our garden is very windy so the screening is like a wind break, plus it gives us some privacy as well. What a job Sally has, you're right getting away on the Canal will do her a world of good with having such a stressful job. The accident on the M1 sounded really bad. So Simon has put your potatoes in for you, that was nice of him. I didn't bother buying any in the end as there wasn't any around here, that's the problem with living in a little village there's not much in the way of shops to go to. How is your neck and shoulder now, hope the deep heat worked and it's feeling better now.
How is your wrist today Anne, hope it's feeling better and you can use your hand better today? Yes I decided to wrap up the presents I've already bought for Christmas as I had them all out to check who I'd bought for. At least they're done now so there won't be so many to do nearer the time.
I've had a good go on my family tree today and have added 27 people so far, which has pleased OH as it's his part of the tree. Going to take another look now.

It's been a beautiful sunny day here ,blue sky all day and not a cloud to be seen ,Colin has been painting the fence and i've been sitting out reading my book ,it was so good i couldn't put it down it was Last Seen Alive by Claire Douglas really good .
Nice to see you back Jane sounds as if you had a great time away with good weather ,i remember Ruth Watson she was the lady who went round hotels and B &B's helping to make them better .
Oh not good hurting your wrist Anne ,it's when you do things like that you realise just how much you use your hand to do so many things, it's easily done though ,hope it soon feels easier for you .
That sounded quite a storm you had Ann ,good though in one way that it was at night rather than during the day to stop you going out . Have you been tucking into those lovely Cornish Pasties ?
That was nice of Simon to get the spuds in for you Frank .
Gill thats good you managed to get all the screening done ,i'm sure you'll be able to get the plants back in in the next few days . I bet Sandra loved seeing a few Christmas bits at the garden centre she loves Christmas doesn't she bless her . Mel i hope the dog has gone back where it came from you don't want that worrying your chickens ,any more sightings of it ?

Only have to go to the shop this morning and the rest of the day is to myself.

As Jane said the canal bost must be a god send to Sally with the job she has. Somewhere to forget all the traumers of the shift and just chill out in a more relaxed world.

Good morning ladies, evening Kim,
Nothing sort of day here again. High clouds, no sun, but quite a breeze.
Ros has gone to meet Martine for their Saturday Morning chat and coffee. I have been sitting reading my book for over an hour in my dressing gown. I must get in the shower and get shaved as I want to get to the pub by 12.30 as West Ham are playing Spurs, and I don't want to miss it.
My shoulder feels a little better this morning, I need more of them if I want to cover all my aches and pains. BACK, ELBOW, WRISTS, KNEES, and SHOULDER. I would be covered in patches and as hot as an OVEN. LOL LOL.
I'll catch up with you all later.
